"So, your Dad shows up back in your life and you don't say anything?" Quinn asked taking a seat at the dining table.
"Well it was Bunny telling me so I didn't want to read too much into it" Erin said clasping her coffee cup "But he's kept pictures of me she sent, I don't know it was kind of nice. Jay wants me to do a DNA test, but I just want to leave it alone for now"
"I can understand that" She said squeezing her hand "We all want that relationship, it's why we both let our Mom's back in"
"If only I could quit Bunny" Erin sighed shaking her head.
Quinn just smiled. Erin's relationship with her Mother was difficult to say the least but Erin would always be there for her Mom.
"And Jay is just looking out for you" She said sipping her coffee.
Erin smirked at the look on her face and leant back in her chair.
"He really bothered you with the whole Severide thing, didn't he?" Erin asked.
"Well it was more his questioning my feelings for Greg" She replied "But loves you so I can't totally hate him"
"Don't bite my head off but do you like Severide that way?" Erin asked "There's no time frame on moving on"
"Kelly is a friend and I care about him" She said firmly "I love Greg, I'm getting on with my life but that doesn't just go away"
"I think Jay just misses him" Erin tried.
"Well he's not the only one" She sighed "Cami wants to write a letter so I said we'd put together a care package, would Jay know where to send it?"
"I'm sure he will" Erin told her "Where is mini Fabray?"
"Another birthday party" She replied rolling her eyes "That kid needs to stop being so popular, she's costing me a fortune"
Erin was going out with Jay, so she promised to ask him about the care package. Quinn walked her to the door and hugged her tightly.
"I hope it all works out" she told her sincerely "You deserve good things Erin"
Quinn sat in the living room working through her notes for her criminal law class. She was in almost every day next week.
She checked her phone as it buzzed on the coffee table. It was a message from Sylvie telling her that Kelly was going ahead with his bone marrow donation without anesthesia. The birthday party Cami was at was a sleepover, so she decided to make her way over to med.
When she got to Kelly's room, he was sat in his dressing gown scrolling through his phone.
"Are you a moron?" She asked leaning against the door frame.
"Excuse me?" He laughed looking up.
"You go sign yourself up for some surgery with no pain relief and don't tell your emergency contact?" She asked walking in and taking a seat beside him.
"Not brave?" He asked with a smile.
"A brave moron" She replied nodding her head "I get why you're doing it and I think you're amazing, but you did just fall out of a window and I'm worried about you"
"Anna had already started the chemo" He said "I have to do this for her, if anything happens…"
"I get it" She told him taking his hand "I'm going to be here when you get out, ok?"
"You don't have to do that" He told her.
"Are you kidding?" She asked " I take my role very seriously; besides, I have this to get through and I can do that at home or here"
Quinn held up a textbook thick enough to substitute as a coffee table.
"Thank you" He told her squeezing her hand.
Quinn settled herself back in the chair to read when Kelly was taken down to the operating room.
She decided to put down her book and pulled out a clean sheet of paper and pen. She paused with the pen in her hand. She wanted to write to Mouse, but she wasn't sure what to say or where to start. She didn't want him to think she had forgotten about him. That wasn't something that was ever going to happen. He had been there for her and she would always love him.
Greg,
I hope you are staying safe over there. Cami and I are both so proud of you.
I wish you hadn't introduced her to the x-box though, I'm not the best at it and she's super competitive. I know she has put together her own letter for you, so I'm sure she'll tell you all about it.
I was unsure of what to say to you. I just wanted you to know you're inspiring. You have grown so much just in the time that I've known you. You are brave, loyal and a good man. I miss you and I love you.
Always
Quinn x
Quinn bit her lip as she folded up the letter and put it back in her bag. She could have written on forever about how she felt but she wasn't sure that was the right thing to do. She just wanted him to know he had a place in their hearts still.
Kelly was asleep when he was wheeled back into the room. Even sleeping he looked like he was in pain. Doctor Clarke was checking his vitals as Kelly started to open his eyes. He explained that his pain relief was wearing off, but he could press a button to dose himself, apparently, he was on the strongest they could give him. Kelly couldn't even speak he was in so much pain. Doctor Clarke made sure the pain relief button was in his hand. Quinn just sat quietly while he was able to go back to sleep for a while. She didn't want him to have to talk or cause himself more pain.
It was a little while later when a woman with dark hair was wheeled in.
"You must be Anna" She said with a smile "I'm Quinn, it's nice to finally meet you"
"Hi" Anna replied, "How is he?"
"Sleeping mostly" She said looking over at him.
"I am so grateful for him" Anna said.
"I think meeting you has done a lot for him to" She told her.
It was obvious that Kelly had feelings for Anna, not that it was the only reason he would do something so amazing, but it was a reason all the same.
"Are you two…?" Anna started.
"Not at all" She replied shaking her head "We're friends"
They sat in a comfortable silence. Anna put the Hawkes game on and put it on mute.
"You're a Hawkes fan too?" Kelly said looking over at Anna
"How are you feeling?" Anna asked him.
"I've been better" He admitted.
"I'm going to head home" She said standing up and putting her bag over her shoulder clutching her book "If you need anything at all just call me, and you need to promise, no stupid tough guy act"
"I will" he told her "Thank you"
Quinn smiled and waved goodbye to Anna. She was glad that Kelly was ok. She wanted to check in with Gabby but she didn't want to intrude with everything they must be going through with Louie, so she settled with sending a message letting her know they she was always there to talk. Quinn wasn't a fan of too many nights home alone but at least she could get done everything that she needed to. She really hoped all the work and effort would be worth it in the end.
