Well, we're about to get into Mountain Glenn. And that means some significant changes are on the horizon. Let's see how things go. Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY, the Persona series, Five Nights at Freddy's, or Devil May Cry.
Volume 3-7: Ready for the Next Mission
Ruby met with Ozpin, Glynda, and Ironwood the following morning. "Jeremy was the one who overheard about someone sneaking away from the dance. Since I was the only one in our group without a date, it was decided that I should go check it out." Ironwood raised an eyebrow. "How did you get up the CCT so quickly?" Ruby smirked and revealed the grappling cable. "A little gift from a senior Phantom. The woman was alone, and while I couldn't make out her face, I'm relatively sure it was Cinder." "Records indicate she was attempting to implant a virus into the CCT to take control," Ozpin noted, "Your new firewalls seem to be working perfectly, James."
"They ought to," James said, "We've been running simulations like this for weeks and beefing up security accordingly. The real trick was doing so without losing connectivity. That's probably why they were able to steal information from our files." "What kind of information?," Ruby asked. "Outdated information, thankfully," Ironwood assured her, "But still enough to give them some idea of what we're doing." "There's something else," Ruby said, "During the fight I was able to use one of Personas to induce anger in her, causing her to attack with controlled fire. Luckily another of my Personas can absorb fire, so-"
"Hold on a moment," Ozpin said, "Did you say that she attacked with fire?" Ruby nodded. "Yeah. Her eyes lit up beneath her mask and she was able to conjure fire. I'm pretty sure she didn't have a Persona." Ironwood looked concerned. "Ozpin, do you think...?" "It's very likely," Ozpin said, "She may be the one who attacked Amber." "Who's Amber?," Ruby asked. "An important person called a Maiden," Ozpin explained, "She was attacked, and some of her power stolen, a few weeks before the school term started."
"I'm starting to think it was the same woman I fought the night I met Ruby," Glynda realized. "A combination of the Maiden's powers and some Dust embedded in her clothes would make it easy for her to control the fire," Ironwood noted. "Question," Ruby said, "How can anyone steal another person's power?" "This power is not simply tied to Aura or Semblance," Ozpin clarified, "It is something much more ancient. Tell me, did this woman have any sort of weapon?" "I remember her having a blade made of glass, not that she got a chance to use it," Ruby noted, "That's not a very common weapon material." Ozpin nodded. "That should be all. For now return to your team. We'll be setting things up for your mission to Mountain Glenn shortly." Ruby nodded.
When Ruby got back, the other girls were waiting for her. "Hey guys. Everyone ready for our mission?" "Sure," Yang said, "By the way, Pyrrha had a big smile on her face earlier." "I'm not surprised," Blake said, "Someone saw her getting dragged into a closet by Jaune. And given how long they were in there..." The girls giggled. "Oh yeah," Yang said, "I almost forgot. Dad sent us something." Ruby squealed. "Something from home!" As Yang picked up the mail container, Ruby dashed over and tried to grab it. Yang opened the carried and dumped out something black and white.
The object quickly popped open to reveal an adorable corgi. Each of the girls screamed, Yang and Ruby in excitement, Weiss in shock, and Blake in abject terror. "Zwei!," Ruby called out. Weiss looked at the tiny puppy. "He sent a dog? In the mail?" Ruby was cuddling Zwei as Yang looked on. "He does stuff like all the time." Blake had climbed up to the upper bunk. "Your dad or the dog?" Weiss looked at Blake with a raised eyebrow. "Do you really have to go with the stigma of cats and dogs?" "This has nothing to do with me being part cat," Blake clarified, "I'm just terrified of strange dogs."
Weiss rolled her eyes and leaned over to Zwei. "Are you telling me, this mangy... Drooling... Mutt... Is going to wive with us fowevah!? Oh yes he is yes he is!" Jeremy entered the room. "I heard screaming. Everyone all right in here?" He got surprised by Blake jumping into his arms. "My hero! Get me away from that furry demon!" She pointed to Zwei. She then noticed Jeremy's ears drooping as he had a sardonic look on his face, and her own ears drooped. "And suddenly I'm embarrassed..." "Come on Blake," Ruby said, "Zwei's not so bad when you get to know him."
Blake rolled her eyes as Zwei licked her neck. She sighed. "Well, at least he's smaller than some dogs I've had problems with." "Well we can't exactly leave him here for the week," Weiss pointed out. "Where did you get a dog anyway?," Jeremy asked. "This our pet Zwei," Yang explained as she dug into the mail carrier, "Ah, here's a note from Dad. 'Dear girls, I've got to leave the island for a few days. So I'm sending Zwei to you to take care of. Enclosed is all the food you should need. Love, Taiyang.'" Yang then noticed Jeremy looking at her. "So your own name is just your Dad's name but with the front bit taken off?"
"Apparently Mom wasn't much for names," Yang admitted. "Like my mom was any better," Ruby pointed out, "Our last dog was named Ein." Yang turned over the mail carrier, causing a surprising amount of dog food to be dumped out. "What is he supposed to do with that?," Weiss asked. Yang gave another shake, and out popped a can opener. "Well, that settles it." "How is he supposed to work a can opener?," Blake pointed out. "Oh Zwei's more dexterous than he looks," Ruby assured her, "His house breaking is less knowing to scratch the door when he wants to use the bathroom, and more he can literally use the bathroom. He flushes and everything."
Jeremy shrugged. "Anyway, I should get back to my team. Meet you at the auditorium." "We should get going," Yang said, "Come on. Zwei will be here when we get back." As Weiss left, she rubbed Zwei's ears. "Oh I'll miss you so much we're going to be best friends I can't wait to see you again." "Jeez, calm down Weiss," Blake said. "Shut up!," Weiss said, "I've always wanted a pet when I was a little girl..." Ruby however, looked at Zwei, then got an idea. She entered the auditorium carrying a huge backpack. Ozpin was making a grand speech regarding the important of upholding the unity that had lasted since the end of the Great War.
"So we're about to have our first real mission," Jaune said, "Who are we shadowing?" "That's the downside," Fritz said, "The only Huntsman with a mission down to Mountain Glenn is... Well..." He sighed. "Doctor Oobleck..." "Our history teacher!?," Weiss asked incredulously. "Don't count him out so easily," Gabriel said, "He may be a bit eccentric, but he's a veteran Huntsman with dozens of successful missions under his belt. I checked his record, and he's completed more than his fair share of Search and Destroy missions, like the one we're on." "No need to be concerned," Oobleck said as he approached, "I assure you that you'll be in good hands with me around." The three teams groaned.
For the record, Oobleck is up to speed on what our heroes are capable of. And that'll make things interesting going into the Mountain Glenn arc. It looks like things are starting to calm down. Maybe once the quarantine lets up, I'll start spacing out my uploads more. Read and review.
