Queen Elizabeth and Oasis of the Seas were on a voyage together. That sentence alone should've been enough to give even the most daring of ships pause. While MS Queen Elizabeth, known to her friends as Liz, was not as rude as Victoria was, it was still well known that Cunard liners and Oasis did not get along. Even flagship Queen Mary 2 had difficulties and it was only her superb British mannerisms that allowed her to tolerate the massive cruise ship. Oasis was not only loud and uncouth as most vessels that spend too much time in American waters tend to get. She was also extremely aggressive and unpredictable. The only ship that seemed to avoid her temper was Warrior. So why the fates decided to stick Liz with this stuck up snob she would never know. But what it ended up being was an adventure for the ages.

It started as they neared the coast of Canada. Liz was en route to Halifax while Oasis was headed into New York. They had spent most of the journey together in silence, not speaking a word to one another since they left Liverpool. Warrior's addition to the fleet had made a lot of people nostalgic for the old days of transAtlantic crossings and the market was booming. With its heritage fleet, Cunard was in the best position to take advantage of the boom. A fact that made Oasis jealous. She could never hope to replicate the opulence and grace of ocean liners. Liz would never be a purebred liner but she looked her heritage. Oasis herself was descended from ocean liners. All cruise ships were. The breed had come about when an ocean liner was bred to a tanker in the 1950s. The idea was for increased cargo capacity. Instead what was created was a ship that had massive decks for passengers. Oasis looked nothing like her ancestors. She was a big, walloping white elephant and she hated it.

Traveling side by side, Oasis backed off the throttle and let Liz lead the way as they approached ice. Their speed slowed to a crawl as both ships kept a sharp eye out for larger threats in this field. Their charts told them it was too large to steer around. They had no choice but to travel through. Oasis would've led the way, her larger size working for her to clear a path that Liz could've followed but her hull was not up to the job. Liz had a reinforced bow designed for the North Atlantic and that extra layer of steel came in handy now. Another thing the larger ship was jealous of but she dutifully followed close behind.

Ahead of them Liz spotted a massive slab of ice known as a tabletop iceberg. Known for their massive size, they were rarely tall and rather were more like large floating cities. "Wow." Even Oasis was amazed. She veered off to get a closer look, her white hull making her difficult to spot against the white backdrop. "Oasis be careful!" "You worry too much Liz, this is fascinating." Oasis put her nose to the ice, marveling at its sparkle. It looked white from a distance but became perfectly clear when she got up close and even had streaks of blue in it. Liz came up alongside Oasis, frowning deeply. "Okay Oasis, you've had your fun. Now we really need to go." "Oh come on Liz are you a scaredy-shipling?" She asked. "Look, there's an opening." "No! Absolutely not!" Liz gasped. "Ice is dangerous Oasis. It shouldn't be messed with." "Curiosity is not a sin and I'm not going to mess with it. I'm just looking." Oasis retorted and moved towards the entrance. "Oasis please don't!" Liz followed her. She too was amazed at the beauty but she also knew the danger and kept a wary eye on the towering masses of ice overhead. Which meant she was the first to spot trouble. "Oasis, we need to get out of here." "Just give me a minute." Oasis was staring fascinated at something. Liz came over to look at what she was staring at. "We aren't the first ones to come through here." She whispered. She could see streaks of red paint within the ice as though this particular chunk had become entrapped within this berg. Left here by the stars as a warning. "Oasis, we really need to go!" She growled. Oasis took notice of her fear. "Liz, what's wrong?" She asked. "We have to get out of here, now!" Liz's eyes were wide and the bigger ship seemed to sense that she was right. They started for the entrance. The massive berg gave a rumble and the ceiling shuddered. "Run!" Liz shouted and made a beeline for the entrance. Oasis overtook her and just managed to make it through. Liz wasn't as lucky. With chunks of ice raining down she had to slam on the breaks to avoid being pulverized. Oasis realized she was alone and turned around. "LIZ!" She shouted, putting her ears to the ice in the hopes she could hear her fleetmate. "I'm okay." Liz's voice was muffled. "I'll get you out." Oasis promised. "Oasis be careful, you could bring down more of this." Liz said. "I understand ice but I'm not an expert." Oasis whined. "You need Warrior." Oasis frowned at the mention of Liz's fleetmate. Warrior was even more stuck up and mannered than Mary was. She appeared young and spritely but her white muzzle betrayed her age. She was far older than she looked and surely more experienced. But there was one little problem. She was terrified of ice. She was on a trip to the Mediterranean out of New York and would be passing by this area right about now. To find her, Oasis would have to exit the icefield altogether, steaming south at least 50 miles. Leaving Liz alone. She voiced this to Liz who accepted it with typical British stoicism. "She'll come to help me. It's her nature to help others and that will overcome her fear. I'm not going anywhere Oasis." She said. "Try not to bring more ice down on yourself." Oasis said. "I'm going to mark your position." "Well that would be a good start." Oasis could hear Liz's smile. As soon as she did that, Oasis set her course south promising to return. All Liz could do was wait and hope for the best.
