Sabrina followed Damon, Stefan and Elena into the Salvatore living room, through the room, up the small flight of stairs, discussing a plan to lure Klaus back in to Mystic Falls as they walked.

Planting herself on one of the two small seats in front of a window. Lifting on foot and resting it on the other, she continued to watch the trio form a small circle as they plotted the lie they were going to tell Klaus about Mikael being dead.

"This all sounds like a very bad rendition of Cluedo."

The look of amusement didn't falter from her face. "This isn't funny, 'Brina. We're this close to killing Klaus," Damon scolded. "This plan can't fail."

Her smile dropped. The thought of Klaus being dead didn't sit right with her.

"You really think Klaus is going to take Stefan's word on this?" She sat up on the chair, both feet on the ground.

"I'm pretty sure the concept of a loophole will cross his mind. It's going to take a lot more than 'Hey Klaus, guess what we found Mikael, he's now dead, please come back'," she mocked.

"If dead is what I need to be, that dead I shall be." Sabrina couldn't help but roll her eyes as the voice of registered in her head.

Standing on the lowered level of the room, Mikael placed a vial of ash and a dagger wrapped in a cloth down on the wooden surface of the small table. Elena and Stefan walked down the three steps to the lower portion of the room to join him.

"What if he wants to see you in person?" Elena questioned.

"Well that means our plan is working. Klaus will absolutely want to see my body. You lure him here, and I will kill him."

"With what? Those daggers won't work on him," Stefan asked standing beside Elena.

"Well, I'm in possession of a stake fashioned from the wood of the ancient white oak tree." Mikael began unwrapping the dagger. "The one that left these ashes when it burned." He picked up the bottle containing the ash.

"Where is it?"

"Not here," he answered Damon. "The knowing of its location is my insurance policy."

"Against what?"

He held the dagger now primed with the ash. "You leaving this in my heart."

"I'm sorry, am I the only one is going to acknowledge we are aiding and abetting in a dysfunctional family problem?" Sabrina sounded slightly annoyed as she got up.

"And as for your insurance policy, it's not really water tight," she jabbed at him as she descended down the stairs.

Mikael had a smile on his face as he acknowledged the look of disdain on her face. "Right, I forgot you had a psychic."

It was like he wasn't addressing her despite her being right in front of him. "I'm not a psychic."

"From what I heard you played a part in finding me. How isn't the time to play both sides, my dear." He held the dagger out in front of Elena.

"Y...You want me to actually dagger you?"

"Klaus will leave nothing to chance especially when it comes to trust." Mikael saw the hesitation in her posture and turned the handle towards Sabrina. "Unless you'd like to do the honour?"

It was early the next day when Sabrina walked back into the boarding house. It was quiet, suggesting to her Mikael hadn't awaken yet. She wondered though the corridors looking for some form of life, peering her head into rooms as she went.

Stopping in the hallway as she saw Rebekah walk out with. Sabrina tried to read the expression on her face. She looked overwhelm by hurt.

"Rebekah," she called out walking up to the girl.

"Leave me alone."

Sabrina sighed. "Okay."

Moving past her she heading into the living room.

"What? That's it?"

"Is what it?" she asked turning back around, seeing the hint of confusion on the blondes face.

"After everything you said yesterday, I say leave me along and you just walk away?" Rebekah spat.

This was becoming unpleasant and wearing thin Sabrina's tolerance. "I'm not going to force you to like me Rebekah. If you want to do this, we're doing it on your terms."

She left the girl in the corridor and headed into the living room. Mikael was stood standing with an cold expression on his face. Sabrina imagined that there was some form of altercation between the two which lead to their current moods.

"Daddy daughter troubles?" she reclined on a sofa opposite him.

"I feel like you enjoyed putting that dagger in me," he tittered.

"Oh, I did." Her tone perked up a little, reminiscing being the one to push the dagger into him.

"You don't want me to kill him do you?" he asked tonelessly.

Her glee didn't last long. "The supernatural aspect aside I don't like you because I think you're a terrible father."

"Not everyone is lucky enough to have the idyllic family life that you're used to Sabrina." She felt like she was being tested with how much people could push her today.

Mikael took a few steps forward awaiting her response. "I didn't grow up with a father figure," Sabrina scoffed. "and I sure as hell I wouldn't ever want one like you."

Her words revealed to her the reason why she didn't want him to kill Klaus. The hybrid didn't deserve his death to be at the hands of the man he called father, the man that would beat him for being a child born as the result of a marital affair, cursed to be the monster he never asked to be.

Looking at him brought a sea of memories flooding back. "You have no ability to take accountability for your actions. No wonder your children hate you."

He didn't seem affected by what she said, he just stood glued in the same position. The silence was deafening and not something Sabrina enjoyed. She got up from her seat and headed out before the small hint of satisfaction from telling him what she really thought was taken away.

"You have too much empathy, girl."

She wasn't going to let it go. "You don't have any."

"This is boring."

To say Alaric's apartment was a mess right would have been an understatement. The pictures that lay on his countertop seemed to have doubled and found residence around to the floor, bed and coffee table.

"Why are you so adamant about this?" she rested her elbows on the counter as her persistence didn't sway his attention.

"Don't tell me you're not the slightest bit interested?"

She shrugged. "Didn't care then, don't care now."

His focus still wasn't on her. "Well whenever your epiphany feels like returning, let me know and I'll give this up."

"Alaric!" she whined.

"My god you're like a 5 year old sometimes." He looked away from his picture.

The look on her face didn't matched the one in his mind. Instead of looking pouty or smug Sabrina looked troubled. Her head was low, looking down at nothing in particular. Elbows were no longer on the countertop as she was now pressed up to the edge of the island.

"I was only joking 'Brina I didn't-"

"It's not you." Her head raised up slowly.

The expression was still there. The most visible sign of discomfort was in her eyes.

"Sabrina," concern was laced in his voice as the picture was placed back on the counter.

"Why do I feel the contestant need to worry about things that don't concern me?" Alaric wasn't sure what this was, but nonetheless he walked around the short end of the counter to be closer to his friend.

"Rose's death, Caroline being taken by Jules," she listed. "Every single vision I get about Elena, Damon or Stefan! I put on this act to myself, telling myself that it'll sort itself out, that it's none of my business and I owe it to no one to get involved".

Alaric watched with his arms folded as Sabrina's voice began to tremble. "I'm a hypercritic, Alaric. I tell people I'm not involved in this, that I don't want to be part of it, but here I am!"

Her cheeks began to flush as the mix of emotions swirled around her head.

"Sabrina It's not a bad thing to care for your friends," Alaric consoled.

She looked at him in disbelieve. "I went will Klaus because I didn't want to be apart from Elijah. I gave no second though to anything else, to what I would be leaving and the aftermath that would follow."

"And do you regret it?" Alaric's hand held Sabrina's.

His question made her think back to the time she had with him during the summer. She made a rash decision to follow a man that in all honestly didn't know for that long. But it was one of the best decision she ever made. Similar to when Klaus asked her if it was worth it, she knew the answer straight away.

She slowly shook her head, stifling a cry to stop herself getting emotional.

"Your kindness, your ability to care and to put other's first is what we love about you, why Elijah loves you," he soothed, rubbing his thumb over her knuckles.

Sabrina looked at him in appreciation, her lips still trembled, the threat of crying wasn't that far. Alaric gave her a smile of reassurance.

Neither of them suspected a strong vibration to break the moment. Sabrina's phone called out from the pile of images that painted Alaric's table.

Alaric took a step back as her arms reached over to clear the space ahead of her. Both eyes look as the words 'Klaus' lit up the screen. The phone continued its buzzing as Sabrina looked at Alaric with a look of hesitation. Expression matched action as she reached out to answer the call.

"Hello."

"Sabrina," his voice came out from the speaker. "So, I've been told that Mikael is dead."

She listened as he got straight to the point. "I've spoken to Rebekah and Stefan who have both confirmed it."

"Then why are you calling me?" she steadied her voice.

"Because I know you won't lie to me, that's not who you are."

The emotions for her previous conversation with Alaric came rushing back in. "What makes you think that you know the kind of person I am?" her voice was taut.

"No need to get angry, love, it was just an observation," he eased on the other end. "Well then, is Mikael really dead?"

She didn't' answer his question too enraged in the comment on her character. "Maybe I'm not who you think I am. Maybe I'm tired of having to help others who don't deserve it. From where I stand where has helping others every aided me?"

"Where is this coming from?" He asked with a mix of concern and confusion.

A slight shuffle on her right reminded her Alaric was still in the room. "Am I ever going to see Elijah, Klaus." She tried again to calm herself but the outburst made her tone brittle. "I can't keep doing this, I'm not that strong. I have broken before and I will do again."

A hand was placed on her shoulder, a silent form of conform. "You can't do this, not to me, I am not one of your siblings, I will not be told what to do by you nor will I allow myself to be tethered to you."

"I think you need to calm down, you're clearly having one of your emotional-"

"Don't Klaus, just please, don't," she breathed out quietly.

He paused before speaking again. "I'm coming back and I'm bringing Elijah with me"

"That means nothing to me."

"Tell me if Mikael is dead and I give you my word I will give Elijah to you upon my return." Sabrina tilted her head, looking at Alaric who still stood beside her in silence, he gave a small squeeze on her shoulder.

"You need to make me a promise, Klaus. No tricks, no games, no lies. Promise me you'll keep your word."

"I promise"

"You want the truth?" her watery eyes didn't leaved Alaric's eyeline as she prepared her lie. "Yes, Mikael is dead"

"Thank you, Sabrina. I'll see you soon."

The phone lazily hit the counter as Sabrina's arm grabbed Alaric's. His free hand placed on her other shoulder as her lead lowered into him. Sniffles and sobs were followed by the onset of tears as Alaric rubbed her back and hushed her.
