It was Sunday night and Troy laid awake holding Gabriella in his arm. He looked down at her and let his fingers gently trace the outline of her face, smiling softly as she subconsciously leant into his touch. It had been just over a month and a half since his friends had found out about their relationship, but the school still didn't know; only viewing their relationship as purely platonic. As he looked down at the love of his life, he knew he wanted for the school to know soon, he wanted everyone to know that Gabriella Montez was his girl.

He smiled when he felt her snuggle closer to his side, nuzzling her face into his chest. They had been together for almost eight months and Troy knew that he'd be asking to marry her one day. As much as most people think teen couples have shallow and puppy love relationships, he knew that what he and Gabriella shared was much more than that.

He drifted off to sleep with a tightened grip on the girl in his arms, knowing that soon, the whole world would know that Gabriella Montez was his.

Gabriella was at her locker at the start of lunch to put her books away before she was going into the cafeteria to join her boyfriend and his friends, who had now become hers. She felt surrounded and turned to find Chris and Sharpay smirking at her. She sighed, "what do you want?"

Sharpay answered, "Chris here told me that you're pining after Troy Bolton. I don't know how you've managed to get Troy to let you hang with him and the team but you're delusional if you think he'd ever be stupid enough to actually go out with you."

Gabriella rolled her eyes. "Whether I like Troy or not, he's not into you Sharpay, you don't have a chance with him. There are plenty of guys on the team, in the school even who would love to go out with you, why don't you start paying attention to them."

The blonde cheerleader laughed unamused. "Troy would use you for one thing and one thing only, not that a prude like you would have any experience in that department. Why don't you leave Troy to play with the big girls kid."

Gabriella narrowed her eyes. "Back off Sharpay."

The cheerleader shoved her back.

(Meanwhile)

Troy had been thinking all day of how to approach the subject with Gabriella, not wanting to put his girlfriend in a position she didn't want to be in. As he turned the corner, he narrowed his eyes as he saw Sharpay and Chris surrounding Gabriella. He immediately wanted to jump in and help Gabriella but also knew that she didn't want him to fight all her battles for her.

His blood boiled as he heard Sharpay's comment and the feeling increased as he watched her shove his girlfriend; that was the last straw. He walked over to the group and slightly knocked them to the side. He wrapped an arm around Gabriella's waist and placed a chaste kiss on her lips, knowing that she didn't like PDA. "Hey Baby, everything ok."

Gabriella's eyes were wide, not knowing how to respond to anything that had happened. He turned his attention to Sharpay. "Evans, Major, is there a problem here?"

By this point, they had gained quite an audience who had seen the kiss between the Wildcat captain and his supposed girlfriend. Chris and Sharpay looked at one another, the latter responding "nothing Troysie, just having a little chat with Montez, she's being ridiculous, would you believe the little crush she has on you, it's adorable."

"I'd wanna hope that my girlfriend likes me Evans and you have no right to speak to her the way I just heard."

Sharpay laughed and Chris took this moment to slip away. "Funny, seriously Troy, you can stop the joke now, no one believes it."

He narrowed his eyes. "This isn't a joke. Gabriella is my girlfriend and if I ever catch you speaking to her like that again, we're going to have trouble."

"Wh-what, why her? You could do so much better with literally anyone else."

"And I know by anyone else you are referring to yourself." He rolled his eyes. "Why I'm with her is because I love her. I know Gabriella isn't with me for popularity or a status as I know you are. So back off Sharpay."

Sharpay stood shocked and Troy noticed the crowd formed, he sighed knowing they would not be leaving any time soon. He gripped Gabriella's hand in his own and guided her to the rooftop garden, away from the watchful eyes of their classmates. He guided her over to the bench and sat her on his lap.

"Are you ok Baby." She nodded in response. "Look I'm sorry, I should've discussed it with you first about revealing our relationship and I probably should've thought before I kiss you because I know how much you hate PDA."

She shook her head. "It's ok Troy."

"No it's not, we've only just started getting further in our physical relationship and that doesn't give me any right to just grab you and kiss you regardless of the intention."

She smiled at his thoughtfulness and cupped his cheek, kissing him. "I understand what you're saying but it's ok Baby. You didn't do anything that I object to. So what if we didn't discuss revealing our relationship? We haven't exactly been hiding it, we just haven't outright kissed or confirmed anything because no one thought we were in a relationship."

"Still..."

"No Troy, it's honestly alright. It was just a kiss and you know I'm always comfortable around you."

"Are you sure it's ok?"

"Yes Baby, nothing happened just now that I didn't want. We may have to deal with the reactions which I'm not keen for but we were going to have to eventually and at least now, everyone knows that you're mine. We'll get through this together Troy."

He smiled and kissed her gently. "Yeah we will Baby, I'm glad everyone knows you're my girl now."

She rubbed their noses together, which he found adorable before responding. "Same here Wildcat." They cuddled up on the rooftop for the remainder of lunch, spending time together like they were the only two in the world.
