- End of AN-
The four were able to make it through the flight without problems. Ava and Nikolas were able to not fight, not for not having issues with each other but for the fact neither wanted to chat. Far too awkward and familiar, each kept to themselves. Keeping silent possibly made it more awkward but they found themselves doing a lot of thinking to themselves regardless.
The four hadn't even known they were leaving until the last minute when Nikolas had gotten the tip. They of course needed to move fast, knowing Hayden could move just as fast if not faster. That meant last minute flights and no hotel reservations.
They all got into the cab. Franco taking the passenger seat and Liz, Ava, and Nik taking up the backseat of it.
"Where to?" The driver asked.
Nobody knew. Nikolas however managed to speak up first and giving the name of the first hotel that came to mind.
"The Melton-Arms." He spoke out. Not only was it where he had gotten the tip of Hayden being spotted, but it was also unfortunately the one where he and Ava had crossed paths again.
Ava was more than aware of this. He could feel her tense up after he mentioned it. More memories, awkward and almost painful memories resurfacing due to it for both of them.
The driver gave a nod and drove off. This cab ride even more awkward then the plane ride, more cramped as well. Nikolas and Ava didn't talk, avoided even looking at each other for it. Liz didn't even say much. Franco tried to clear the air but ended up just annoying the cab driver with dumb stories nobody cared about, making it worse.
When they finally arrived it was relief for Franco and Liz. You'd think getting out of the awkward car ride would be more of a relief for Nik and Ava as well but no, they arrived at the place that was causing the awkwardness, so how could it?
Franco being a gentleman wen't around and got the car door for Liz and helped her out. Ava wasn't going to expect Nikolas to get her door so she just followed after Liz. She held her hand out for Franco to also assist her out.
He smiled and shook his head. Same old Ava, even like this. He helped her out though before grabbing his and Liz's bags.
Ava was determined to not seem affected from this point out. It'd do them no good and make her seem weak. If he wanted to show how he was effected then fine, by all means, Ava would enjoy watching him squirm. She might even cause it if it didn't break her heart to think about everything they could have been.
Instead she has to demand that Nik get there bags, receiving a reluctant eye roll from him. Nothing like what they could have been, or even were.
She let out a sigh and continued into the hotel. Head up high, no matter what, the Ava Jerome way.
The four of them were all able to go up to the counter together where they were met by a nice woman ready to check them in.
"Hello, how may I help you today?" She asked in her accent cheerily.
"We need three rooms." Nikolas told her.
Liz and Franco looked at each other knowingly. They of course weren't staying together because despite their marriage they were not together. Any front they had wasn't needed in front of them, both knowing there friends too well to fall for it. They also didn't need to keep things up in London where nobody knew them let alone who they were to each other.
"Hmm," The kind lady typed at her computer. "I'm terribly sorry sir but we only have two rooms available. It's very limited without a reservation."
Nik stopped himself from letting out a groan. He didn't have much of a choice did he? There was no way he was gonna be able to drag a pregnant jet lagged Liz to another hotel. Even if he could, who knows what they had available regardless.
He turned around to dare peek at Ava. She looked annoyed, but impatient none the less. She was probably exhausted as everyone was. He also knew he'd have to listen to her say something about the situation despite him being no happier than she is.
He saw Liz and Franco smirking out of the corner of his eye. They found this amusing. Neither he nor Ava did however. She still stared at him, telling him to go ahead and just do it despite the unideal situation. Despite how it would only prolong the awkwardness and the weird contradicted unfinished feelings
He turned back and reluctantly handed the girl his credit card. "We'll take them." he said through gritted teeth.
This was gonna be quite the interesting trip.
