(I decided to just publish this, it's not complete and it's really shit bc I forced myself to write this last year bc I had no motivation. I will go straight to rewriting everything bc I'm honestly not happy with everything. Ik I said I'd finish this but I literally can't anymore, I've lost all motivation to even try bc I haTE iT. But dw I haven't given up on writing, I'll resume the series later but I'm rewriting it. Also I might change the title bc...the end of time doesn't even suit the plot of that story, it's just silly 10 year old me making it dramatic. Oh well, anyways, I'll see you guys later when I have a rewritten story for you :))
Wow, look at me having huge writer's block and exaMs. Probably thought I was dead lol. Unfortunately not.
Also I feel like what I wrote last chapter may have looked like Ezra and Kurumi were...yeah. But no: they were just kissing and being intimate and shit. Maybe it's because I'm terrible at description :)
Edit: I wrote the first half of this chapter months ago and just left it ever since but uh...ExAms are oVer ig
That night, both teenagers had struggled to get to sleep due to the excitement the two had shared the previous night. But despite the drowsiness they felt in every inch of their body, the two felt happier than they had ever been in a long time.
Kurumi sat up slowly, rubbing her tired eyes and smiled at the two figures sleeping next to her. She lovingly ran her fingers into their hair, gently coercing them to awaken from their slumber.
"Wake up you two." She whispered.
Morro managed to open his eyelids first, he groggily looked up at his older sister.
"Morning Kurumi…" He mumbled. Kurumi kissed him lightly on the cheek, earning a groan from the young boy.
A door at the end of the hall opened and two, heavy footsteps reverberated across the dungeon.
The teenager hushed her brother and took him into her arms, both lining up against the wall.
"So...what are we doing with them?" One voice spoke quietly.
"The girl has to be taken to Aiko...there's no doubt about that." The other replied.
"What about the other two?"
"I...promised the girl that one would be set free, the other would rot here, in prison."
Kurumi, now highly alert, could tell that one voice belonged to the hunter they had spared.
She grew suspicious and continued listening in…
"That doesn't follow the orders of the mayor...you know that…"
"Of course I know. But it doesn't matter, they'll end up the same regardless of what I say."
Kurumi's eyes tensed, slowly processing what she was hearing.
'End up the same regardless': did that mean…?
Kurumi lunged forward and reached out for Ezra, shaking him awake.
"Hmmm…" He groaned, clearly not wanting to be disturbed after a, mostly, sleepless night.
"We have a problem!" She hissed.
He sat up and looked at her in concern "Something wrong?"
"We have to escape now. I overheard two men talking about us and...welll…" She trailed off "...I guess you were right."
Ezra rose to the emergency of the moment and beckoned for assistance before Kurumi began hacking at his chains.
"You know what to do, right?"
Kurumi nodded firmly.
...
The two men approached the cell the three kids were being held in. The hunter, with key in hand, opened the lock and swung the cell door open. A harsh squeak resonated throughout the establishment.
"Alright you two, it's time to go." The hunter said, taking Kurumi and Morro by the arm to bring them out.
Ezra, too, stood up. He snatched Morro away and buried his face against his clothes.
"H-Hey! Where are your chains?!-"
Kurumi took out her hidden knife and ripped his throat open. Crimson splashed onto the cell bars as the assassin rushed up to the hunter and wedged her knife into his stomach.
He began sweating and quivering as the realisation hit him, slowly looking down at his fatal wound.
"W-Why…" He stammered "I thought…"
Kurumi positioned her face next to his ear, her hands still gripping onto the blade that reached a little further into his organs.
"You're a backstabbing piece of shit…" She muttered.
She forced her knife out, taking his life with it as his body collapsed to the ground. She then crouched down to the other man's body and stole a pistol from his belt.
"Hey...Ezra!" Morro complained, struggling to release himself from his brother's grip.
"Not now kid!"
Ezra swung Morro into his arms and followed Kurumi to the end of the hall. The assassin lined herself against the wall cautiously, with Ezra and Morro close behind, before slamming the door open and pointing her pistol at a guard who was stationed there.
She jolted upwards in a panic, reaching for her weapon, but the assassin's bullet had already imploded her skull. Her body fell back against the wall.
Morro shivered in Ezra's grip at the sound.
