July 23
Once again it's the night of the new moon and Inuyasha is human. But instead of spending our night with massages and hot sex like last month, Inuyasha is laying in bed sleeping with a stab wound in his shoulder and I'm sitting here keeping an eye on him.
It all started when we took a walk after dinner and went all the way to the Goshinboku tree.
"So many memories," I said thoughtfully. "I remember the first thing I did when I saw you there was rub your ears."
"You did?"
"I never told you that?"
"No…"
I started to laugh. "I thought they were so cute and fluffy so I couldn't resist. When you woke up I thought you were nice and you were going to save us all….then you tried to kill me so I was really wrong."
"Well, I saved you a bunch of times after that so I think that makes up for it." He put his arm around me. "And now you're my wife so it all worked out."
"I wouldn't have it any other way," I said as I kissed him. The sun was starting to set and I knew it was a new moon night. "It's your human night, I guess we should probably start heading home."
We started in that direction but paused when we started to sense something.
"There's a demon around here," Inuyasha said.
"I can sense it. I think it's something big," I said.
Inuyasha became defensive and pulled out his sword looking around for the demon who hadn't shown itself yet. "Stay behind me."
The big moth demon with huge fangs appeared. "A priestess and a half-demon for dinner!" it said.
"Ha! You wish!" Inuyasha said. "I'll take care of this thing, baby. It'll be a piece of cake!"
The demon lunged at us and Inuhasha charged at it with his tetsusaiga. Things didn't go as planned though. He jumped at the demon intending to slice it apart with the sword. However, halfway through the air, everything changed. The sun went down, Inuyasha's hair turned black, and the sword transformed into its rusty state. Instead of slicing through the demon, the sword bounced off of it. Inuyasha had a moment to look shocked and the demon took advantage of it, stabbing him in the shoulder and throwing him to the ground.
"Inuyasha!" I exclaimed in horror at what had just happened. The demon inched forward to finish him off but I wouldn't let that happen. I had my arrows that night so I pulled one out and hit the demon square in the chest. It immediately dissolved and I ran over to my husband who was still laying on the ground in pain.
"Yasha, are you okay?"
"I'll be fine," he said as he slowly sat up. Blood was pouring from his shoulder. "Damn it all! That was supposed to work. I guess I didn't time it right."
"Let's just get you home so we can bandage that up," I said. "Can you stand?"
"I think so."
I helped him up and he stumbled a bit but leaned on me as we went back to our house. He sat on the couch and I worked quickly to grab the first aid stuff as he was clearly in a lot of pain. Then I sat next to him and pulled off his shirt for him and started to clean his wound. Once I was done, I took him to bed to lay down.
"That's the last time I fight demons on a new moon night," he grumbled.
"Are you comfortable?" I asked as I pulled the blanket over him.
"Yeah. It hurts like hell but I'll be fine." He sighed. "This was supposed to be a fun night, you know? I was going to give you the massage tonight."
"Next time then," I giggled. "Right now you should rest." He yawned and I could tell the medicinal herbs I'd used to help with his pain were putting him to sleep. I leaned down and kissed him. "I love you."
"I love you too, Kagome…" he said as he drifted off.
I ran my hand through his hair. Typical Inuyasha to do something reckless on his human night.
Now I have to rethink my plans for tonight. I guess I'll just sit by him and read until I fall asleep. I keep worrying about him, that stab was pretty bad, but he just needs to get through the night. By the time the sun comes up and he's half-demon again the wound will heal. Hopefully next month we can actually have the fun we'd planned.
