Chapter 32
Harleen was impatient to see Pamela and the two week wait had seemed like forever. They'd managed to contain the news of her pregnancy and as long as Harleen woke up early enough, she could beat morning sickness and not be late to work. Jonathon was on the other side of the hospital dealing with a patient that had had a psychotic break, which meant that he wouldn't be eavesdropping on anything she said to Pamela. She didn't have anything to hide, but she knew he was irrationally jealous of Poison Ivy and Harleen didn't want to give him any reason to rile him.
The process of getting into the Green House was complex and required quite a lot of checks and a scan for any organic items such as seeds which Ivy could use to escape. She was almost done and tried to not be grumpy about how long it took to get her into the unit. She watched as a mister switched on in the greenhouse and she sighed as she watched the artificial rain collect in the leaves and petals. After a couple more minutes, there was a hiss and the doors finally slid open. She smoothed down the thin protective suit and walked into Ivy's unit, she looked around and took a deep breath.
"Pammy?" Harleen called out. "Pammy, it's Harleen."
"Harley?" her friend replied. "You've finally been allowed to come and see me?"
Harley couldn't hide her grin as Pamela came into view. She had vines twisting around her body, a red robe and her long auburn hair cascaded down her back. She was utterly gorgeous and Harleen felt her face flush as she looked over the woman in front of her. Pamela swept her into a hug and Harleen leaned into her. She was always so comfortable when she was with Pammy and didn't think twice about being with her.
"Oh my, I'm so happy to see you." Pamela said brightly. "It's been too long, my darling."
"You look so good-healthy and well." Harleen replied, she stumbled over her words a little as she didn't want to give Pam wrong signals. "I've missed you so much."
"I feel more alive now than I ever did as a human. Everything makes more sense for me now. Time with my babies has helped me come to terms with what I can do and what I can achieve." Pamela said softly. Her arms looped around Harleen's waist and she rested her cheek on the blonde's head, she could taste the hormones in Harleen's body and it made her feel a little unwell.
"Take this stupid suit off, it wouldn't protect you from anything I can produce anyway." Pamela said crossly. "You don't need it, you're not a threat to me."
"Pam-"
"And if that…. Boyfriend of yours has a problem, he can come and talk to me."
"Pam, I have to tell you something really important before we talk about anything else." Harleen told her. "I haven't told anyone apart from Jonathon, my dad and Sharpe."
"Okay honey, take a seat at least." Pamela sighed. She waved her hand and a large lily pad grew to let Harleen sit down. She watched as her friend stroked the plant first and Pamela had to bit her cheek to keep her reaction in check. It felt incredibly intimate and personal for someone to be so kind to her babies and she didn't want to let slip what it made her feel.
"Spill the beans, sweetie."
"I'm… I'm pregnant." Harleen said, a happy smile spread on her face and she unconsciously put a hand on her slightly curving abdomen. "I'm16 weeks gone."
"Oh Harleen…. I'm so happy for you." Ivy replied. "Is it… is it His?"
"Of course, Pammy. There wouldn't be anyone else." Harleen frowned.
"Sorry, it's… I still don't trust him and I probably won't for a long time." Pamela sighed. "Take the suit off, Harley, I'm not going to hurt you. I promise."
"Pam, I can't. I can't risk my baby and Jonathon would be furious if he found out. He's so excited to be a father, he's so good and I can't… I can't do that to him if something were to happen to the baby." Harleen told her. "You're my best friend, Pammy, but you've been so violent and caused so much pain and death… until I can prove to Jonathon that you are safe…. I can't put his baby in risk."
"Harleen, I can control my abilities. Do you really think I would hurt your child?" Pamela frowned. She was angry and she felt her thorns start to sharpen on her plants, Harleen was the last person she had expected to be defensive – even a baby shouldn't have changed their relationship.
"I don't think you would intentionally, but-"
"Get out."
"Pammy-"
"Harleen, after all of our time together, you think you can't trust me?"
"Ivy! I trust you, but I don't want my baby at risk," Harleen snapped, she felt herself start to feel angry. "I love you, you're my best friend. You've been there for me when no one else would be, I want you to be in my baby's life, but I do not know what your pheromones and plants could do to her. Him. Whatever. Would you really ask me to put my child's life at risk? Neither of us know what could happen."
Harleen walked to Pamela and took hold of her hands, she squeezed them a little and smiled softly at her friend. They'd been so close, almost closer than friends, and she couldn't imagine Pamela not being involved in her life. She didn't want to make any decisions – but she would do anything to protect the life inside of her.
"Pammy, please." Harleen said gently. "This isn't about Jonathon it's about us and my baby. I will protect it, I don't want to have to protect it from you. You're my dearest friend. Please don't push this. I won't give and I don't want to lose you. We haven't seen each other in such a long time and… I need you more than ever and… please, Pam."
"Harls, I'm sorry. I didn't… Sorry." Pamela replied quietly and her plants settled down and surrounded them completely so they'd be hidden from the cameras. "Tell me absolutely everything about your baby."

Jonathon was pleased that Harley was busy talking to Ivy, he had his own problem to deal with. It had been silently boiling away in his brain and now he had to do something about it. Someone had been calling five or six times a day, putting hand written letters through their post box and parking on the street opposite a few times a week. He had managed to keep the letters away from Harleen, but he need to change things. The stalker was getting braver and closer to the house. He'd gone to the GCPD but they didn't want to know as nothing had happened to Harleen, their house or Jonathon himself.
Jonathon had tracked down the phone number that had been calling them, he'd managed to get hold of an email address linked to that number and knew who he was looking for immediately. Harleen didn't need this on her shoulders too and it was at least something that Jonathon could do to make sure both her and their baby were safe. He had contacted the stalker and pretended to be Harleen and arranged a meet up. He was going alone, he knew what he was going to do and it made his blood pound.
He parked his car in town, went to a couple of shops and bought some things for Harleen and the baby. He headed back to his car but stopped in an alleyway, he double checked for CCTV and then stepped into the shadows. It didn't take long until another man walked into the alleyway, he was tall but dumpy and he wasn't in the best of shape. It was to be expected as he had been stuck in a medium security hospital for a long time and only just released.
"Come on Harleen, where are you?" the man grumbled and started to pace around. Jonathon emerged from the shadows and reached inside his coat pocket.
"Guy Kopski?" Jonathon asked quietly.
"Who's asking?"
"You've been calling my partners mobile phone number and then our house phone incessantly for the last few months. You have put letters through our door, you have had flowers and gifts delivered, you've sat in your car all night watching what my girlfriend does and where she goes."
"Jeez, dude, I didn't realise-"
"You wrote in one of your letters that you would kill me to get to her. Do you think I'd take that lightly? Especially as she is now pregnant with my child?" Jonathon almost growled. His eyes were dark, his heart was pounding and his fingers wrapped around the handle of the knife in his jacket.
"I didn't-"
"Are you Guy Kopski?"
"Y-yes man, but I didn't mean nothing by it!" Guy stammered as Jonathon stalked towards him like a Tiger creeping up on its prey. Guy pushed Jonathon back, but the slightly smaller man was stronger and Guy felt his head smack back against the brick wall. His head swam in agony and he fell to the floor. He looked up and saw Jonathon standing over him with a large kitchen knife in his hands, Jonathon's eyes were black, his breathing was heavy and adrenalin coursed through his veins.
"That's pretty funny."
