Breathe in and breathe out...

"Lois, you look beautiful," Martha whispered.

I could see her just over my right shoulder in the mirror. A part of me hoped that if I looked over my left shoulder my mother would be smiling her approval. My disappointment didn't last too long but I did feel the brief loss. I hope you are proud of me, Mom... and I hope the General is smiling too.

"I have something for you, my dear." I turned to her just in time to watch her produce a velvet jewelry box. "Jonathan's mother gave this to me on our wedding day, and she made me promise that I would give it to my daughter-in-law someday."

The box had a beautiful pearl necklace nestled in it.

"Martha..." I gasped.

"You can't turn it down, Honey. Here let me put it on."

She secured it to the back of my neck. I cracked a smile as I watched my sweet mother-in-law try to discretely wipe a tear from her cheek.

"Thank you, Martha."

"No, thank you, Lois."

"For what?"

"For loving my boy for who he is, not what he can do," she sniffled. "I worried that he would never really find someone to care for him, as much as he cares for everyone else."

"I'll admit it wasn't love-at-first-sight," I chuckled, "But once I realize I did love him there was no going back."

"Jonathan and I were the same way. I turned him down twice before we made it to the alter." We both laughed. "Well I better go make sure those boys have their ties on straight."

I grabbed her hand just before she moved to leave. "Thank you for everything... Mom."

"I would do anything for my kids... even the ones I have yet to meet." She winked. She squeezed my hand and disappeared. I turned to the mirror once again. My fingers ran over the magnificent creation Jasper had made for me. It was a satin tea-length gown, with a lace overlay for texture. It sported a sweetheart neckline and pearls sparkled from their mount around my neck. I adjusted my veil and brought it over my face.

I closed my eyes and all of the lovely memories flooded back. I could see the smug look on Clark's face the first time he scooped me. I could taste the salt of the water that Clark dragged me into trying to throw me off his path. I could hear the relief in his voice when I told him I loved him and not Superman. I could feel his arms around me as we lay on the couch just trying to catch a breath between stories. I could smell the corn stalks and fresh air of Smallville when he proposed to me.

"Excuse me, Ms. Lane."

"Professor Pepperwinkle!" I turned to hug the sweet gentleman. "What brings you back here to see me?"

"I just felt I should wish you happiness. You and Mr. Kent have always been there for me. You two make a fine couple."

"Thank you, but you were invited to the reception this evening."

"Oh I wouldn't make it that late, that is past my bedtime," he explained.

I bit my lip so I wouldn't even snicker. "I am just glad that you are here for the ceremony."

"Me too. Well best wishes, Miss Lane." He picked up my hand and kissed it. "I will go take my seat."

"Thank you, Professor."

As he exited Bill and Jimmy entered. "Wow, Lois... you look incredible."

"Thank you, Bill."

"He's right, Miss Lane. Mr. Kent is going to be excited to see you," Jimmy confirmed.

"So, he hasn't made his daring escape yet?" Bill joined me as we chuckled at my little joke.

"Mr. Kent sent us to make sure you hadn't run yet," Jimmy announced. Bill and I laughed even hard at his astonishment.

"Are we ready to start," I asked.

"Almost, Perry is just finished giving Clark his wedding day speech. He got stopped about the Minister, so he should be here-"

"I'm here now," Perry grumbled as he entered my room. "You boys are due on stage."

"See you up there, Lois," Bill said as he kissed my cheek. "Clark will be waiting for you, I will make sure of it."

"Thank you, Bill. See you up there, Jimmy."

The gentlemen made their hasty exit, as Perry came to my side. "Lois, you look lovely. I just wish General Lane was here to walk you done the aisle instead of me."

"We don't talk about my dad very often, do we?" I looked at my mentor. "How much do you remember of him?"

"Enough to have plenty of stories to regale my god-grandchildren with about their heroic grandfather." Perry smiled. "Are you ready, my dear?"

I nodded excitedly, feeling the smile spread across my face.

"Well then let's not keep that boy waiting."

There he stands... he is waiting for me. His intense blue eyes met mine as soon as the door opens. My breath caught in my throat as the entire church stood to turn to me. Could this be true? Am I really getting married without any interruptions? No... mobsters looking for revenge, or some mad scientist looking to bring down Superman.

Perry moved my veil and handed me to Clark with a smile. "She now yours, Clark, you better treat her well."

"You know I will, Chief."

"Well then, Reverend, please get started," Perry politely demanded.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here today..."

I looked at Clark, he mouthed, "You look, beautiful."

"I love you," I replied in kind. He winked.

The rest of the ceremony is a bit of a blur, all I remember clearly is the reverend announcing, "I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Clark's eyes lit with a mischievous flame as he dragged me into his chest and I met his kiss with the same fire.

We made our way to the back of the church under a shower of rice. He led me to my dressing room while Perry barked orders that would start the Reception.

Once the door was shut behind us, Clark had me back in his arms. The kisses were thrilling, and I lost count the moment our lips met.

"I love you, Mrs. Kent," he whispered. I couldn't suppress the giggle that bubbled out of me. "What? What's so funny?"

"Nothing," I sighed happily, "I've just been waiting all day to hear that roll off your tongue."

"Mrs. Kent," he whispered again, "Is it better than Mrs. Superman?"

I looked up at him from my spot under his chin, "Much better," I smiled.

"Why?"

I shrugged, moved my arms from his waist to around his neck, "Because I feel in love with a super man, it is just a bonus that he is Superman." I suddenly remembered something, "Um, Clark, we need to talk about something."

He tilted his head and waited for me to continue. I took a deep breath and pulled away slightly, "Perry knows your secret identity."

"I thought he did," Clark shrugged. "He's been letting me off with stupid excuse for too long. And when I saved his life at the Mill, he asked about you and Jimmy, not Clark. But to be honest, Bill knows too."

"He does?"

"Yeah, he figured it out rather quickly, which is good. I would be a little more critical of him if he didn't figure it out." I nodded my understanding. "Plus, I confirmed it when I slipped up and called him Bill as Superman."

"That would do it," I laughed. "Should we tell Jimmy?"

"I've thought about it, but I think Jimmy needs the satisfaction of figuring it out himself, plus we don't need him slipping it to Chloe... just in case."

There was a knock on the room door.

"Mr. Kent, we are ready for you and Mrs. Kent," Jimmy chuckled.

"Well Mrs. Kent," he motioned me to the door, "Shall we go meet our guests."

"We shall, Mr. Kent."

Bill stood at the door and announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce... Mr. and Mrs. Clark Kent!"
