Chapter twenty four:
L has been working on trying to find clues for Sayus disappearance. He gets a notification that there has been a match to the tire marks. He reads it as Douglas all season tires. He supposes that it is a start, though if only they knew what type of vehicle that had been used. He gets the security tapes of any nearby cameras that they were able to find. He starts with the first one to try to see if anything was spotted. He goes through it and spots Sayu walking. He finds that she walks out of the cameras range, so he checks the other camera that was on that side. He finds not much was captured then a black SUV heads off which catches Ls eye. He pauses the video when he can get a good look at the SUV. He takes a picture of it saving it and the video in a digital file of the case. He couldn't see the licence plate. He is at least glad that they can try to narrow things down. He doesn't need to turn as Watari comes in placing down a piece of strawberry cake. "I found a black SUV and that it was using Douglas all season tires. We'll need to check everyone who has gotten both."
"I will look into it right away." Watari heads to leave though pauses as L speaks.
"Watari wait." L turns to look to the older man. "How is Light doing?" He has the other with them currently while he works to try to help find the others sister.
"He's been keeping himself busy. He is very upset and worried. I heard him talking to himself as he tries to figure out who could have kidnapped her, when I dropped his piece of the cake off." Watari explains and L nods turning back to the computer.
"I see. It is understandable because he truly cares for her." L wonders if Light might know the SUV. "Can you bring him here?" He places his right thumb to rest on his bottom lip. "I want to see if he knows the SUV."
"Of course." Watari heads off to go get Light as requested.
L bites down on his short nail on his thumb. He stares at the black SUV. Hell look more into other cameras, though he has a pretty strong feeling that it was this SUV that had done it. Even if he didn't actually see it happen. He turns as Watari comes in with Light who races over.
"What is it? Did you find something?" Light questions as he gets close to L.
"I was looking over some cameras. Do you know this SUV?" L questions letting go of his nail. He gestures to his screen where the paused video with the SUV is.
Light takes a look and even looks closely at it before pulling back. "I don't think I do." He frowns at this and looks down. "It was that car wasn't it?"
"It is very likely." L informs Light. "I'll be having Watari trying to find a match to the information we have. I just wanted to see if you knew this SUV."
"I wish I did." Light pauses to take a breath as he tries to keep himself calm. "I'm scared for Sayu. I don't know what they're doing to her. Or what they plan to do. Nothing." His lands placed upon the desk and his head hanging low.
L places a hand upon Lights shoulder. His action causes Light to turn to look at him. "We're doing everything possible to find her. Well help the two of you as much as we can."
Light nods softly. "Thank you love." He turns back to the screen staring at that black SUV.
Sayu blinks as she starts to wake up and looks around herself. She thinks she must be in some warehouse or something. She rugs on her restraints only to find they tied her up good. He looks to the rope holding her wrists and ankles to the chair. Her breathing begins to become a bit heavy and she glances around again. She doesn't dare call out as she has no idea what they want from her. Her heart is beating quite rapidly. She doesn't know what else to do so she tries to get her one arm out.
"Well well well. Look who's finally awake." The voice causes Sayu to freeze and snap her head up. A man walks closer giving her a slow clap. "Well done for trying to escape. However there's no way you can escape so simply. We made sure of that." He stops clapping and lowers his hands.
"What do you want from me!?" Sayu demands as her eyes are wide with fear.
"A new agent for the government." The man moves closer to her causing Sayu to try to back off... Only to be reminded that she can't. "And lucky you. Because we don't like your parents we've chosen you for our own project."
"My brother will find you! So just let me go!" Sayu tells him only gaining a laugh in response.
"Oh my. I'm so scared." The man says in a clearly joking way. He then looks at her with a very serious expression on his face. "You listen here. Whatever your life was in the past is over. You'll become loyal to the government." He leans close intimidatingly. "I'll make sure of that. And no one is going to stop me. I will do my own project and show the others that my idea will work just fine. The higher ups will give me praise and maybe even a promotion. So you are not going to get set free."
Sayu swallows harshly upon hearing those words and tries to lean back. She wants to be away from this man. She can feel her body start to shake despite being tied up. She wants to call out for her brother even though he isn't here. She doesn't want to be here. She should have just stayed home. She can't help it as some tears start to come to her eyes as her body wants to break down into a screaming crying mess.
Which only causes the man to release a dark chuckle which freaks Sayu out even more.
