Happy Adventures in Regular Elmore

Chapter 45: Adventure's End

A tear jerking moment, as for the final time, I welcome you back to Happy Adventures in Regular Elmore. A long journey this has been, as this story has existed since I was in 6th grade (I'm now in college, so yeah, it's a hella big deal.) The sun has risen and set on many days where I imagine the world of HAIRE, and how things play out. Not all of them make it to the final cut, and not all of them I totally look back and say "Hey, I wanted that.". But, all in all, I'm proud of this story, as it has grown alongside me. Take into consideration I said story, and not fanfic. To me, this isn't a fanfic. I mean, with the characters and everything yes, but to me personally, this is a real story that could work as an original idea. Well, that's enough out of me for now, I'll save my speech for the end. Well, without further ado, let's get back to the show.

Rooftop

Marceline stared down at Finn, as he stared back. The wave of hatred electrifying the atmosphere. She watched as Finn ripped a piece of Bubblegum's dress off, and wrapped it around his hand.

"You whore!!! He's going to kill you! I told you he'd come back for us!!" Fiona yelled, while tied together with Rachel, against a chimney near the edge of the roof. They still wore their 'clothing'.

Marceline stared at Finn, until she turned away to check on her hostages, and when she looked back, he had disappeared, which she assumed he had started to walk into the building.

"Fuck." She grabbed a walkie from her belt.

"Hey assholes, we have an unwelcome visitor entering the building. I want guards at every floor!"

"Yes Ma'am!" She heard over the walkie, as she put it back on her belt.

"He's gonna come up here! Those guards won't do anything!" Rachel yelled.

Marceline walked over and slapped Rachel across the face.

"That's what I'm planning on." She said ominously.

"Hey don't fucking touch her!" Fiona screamed.

Marceline threw a jab into Fiona's face, rocking her head. After a moment, Fiona's nose began to trickle blood.

"He's coming. You're scared and we know it. She's dead, so stop with the act. You don't have to fake being with her anymore." Rachel said, trying to reason with Marceline.

Marceline got into Rachel's face, staring her down.

"You think I'd fake this? You really think I would fake all of this? I helped kill my son. I helped kill everyone that was close to me. After all of this, you really think I would fake my affection for Bonnie?" She was almost in tears, but a maddened look still on her face.

Rachel simply stared back, a snarl growing on her lips.

"We know you'd fake it to save your skin. Tell me something 'auntie'. Why is it that you got to roam free around this shithole while Jake and I rotted in a fucking cell? It's funny how fast you switched sides. You were fucking Finn practically hours before you suddenly 'fell back in love' with that pink haired whore.."

Marceline snapped back, drawing a knife and pointing the tip of the blade into Rachel's throat.

"Don't talk about her like that. Don't even talk about her at all. My love for that woman was real. And your stupid cunt uncle took her away. I switched sides to benefit you. I agreed to side with Bonnie for your protection."

"And she obviously didn't. So if she didn't hold her end of the deal, why bother?"

"Because I loved her. I've always loved her. Maybe we had a detour, but it was nothing but a minor misstep."

"Missstep? That man fucking trusted you! You never realized how much he loved me, do you. He was fucking broken." Fiona yelled.

Marceline gave an attitudal lip smack.

"How would you know? You were too busy sleeping in to know."

Fiona's frown grew, " He told me when we were locked in our cell together. He told me about that day he walked in on you and that fucking whore. He told me about how insecure he was, and how coming to you was the biggest step he'd taken."

"Yeah, and look where that went. We got married, he got what he wanted."

"But you never actually loved him you twat. That's what he didn't get."

Marceline glared at Fiona. She could feel tears forming, but didn't know if it was from the anger, or the shame of realizing she may have been right.

"What he's going to get here soon, is something he took from me and Bonnie a long fucking time ago."

"And what hasn't she taken away from us?" Rachel asked, piping up loud enough for Marceline's gaze to shift, but the blade remained still.

"She didn't do anything that wasn't justified. I was stolen from her by that fucking rat. Everything that has happened to you has been equally justified."

"So her killing your son, your flesh and blood, is justified because you can't stop carpet munching?" Fiona replied coldly, jumping in.

"Take that back you fucking cum rag whore. Take it back. Right. Now."

"No. You know god damn well you did love Finn. You loved him to the moon and back. You loved Jake with all of your heart. You loved everyone. Then you decided to betray them and go back with that bitch."

"I didn't betray anyone. I went back with her to save everyone. She agreed to not harm any of you if I came back. Then..."

"Then what? You decided that 'oh I'm in love with her again.' You fucking back stabbing bitch!" Rachel screamed.

"Shut up you fucking dumb ass crack whore." Marceline hit Rachel across the face with the handle of her blade.

"Hey! Stop!" Fiona screamed.

"Why should I?" Marceline turned her head to Fiona.

Fiona's eyes met Marceline's, and they stared at each other for what seemed like ages, before Marceline broke eye contact.

Picking up the walkie from her belt, she pinged it.

"Are all the guards on every floor? Over."

"Yes ma'am. Over."

"Good. He is not to reach this rooftop. Is that understood? Over"

A moment of static and silence.

"Did you hear me? Stop that stupid mother fucker! Over!"

Another static response, but only for a moment.

"Gotcha loud and clear. Guards are on every floor. We've got other surprises in store, and Pheobe is still on the floor. Over."

Marceline shook her head. Pheobe was black out drunk, so she would be no help. Unless she was able to stand and use her intoxication to her advantage, she was pretty much dead where she was.

Then again, she was well aware of the guards inability to do their job correctly. That's what she wanted. She knew he'd make it up to the roof. Exactly how long it would take, was the question.

Marceline withdrew a handgun, and aimed it at the two girls.

"Now we play the waiting game." Marceline said ominously, her face and voice monotone.

Fiona and Rachel stared back, waiting for the inevitable...

1st Floor

Finn kicked down the double doors leading into the Heart, adrenaline pumping.

"IM COMING UP YOU FUCKING BACK STABBING BITCH!" He yelled out.

"That's where you're *hic* wrong." Pheobe was standing in the middle of the room, still a bit buzzed.

Finn chuckled, " Pheobe, you're black out drunk, what the FUCK are you gonna do?"

Phoebes hands lit up, and fireballs began to grow.

"Let me *hic* show you."

Pheobe shot fireballs at Finn, which he simply ducked under.

"We've gone over this already, you can't aim." Finn said.

Phoebes anger began to sober her, allowing her to speak clearly.

"I don't give a flying fuck, I'm going to burn you down!"

Pheobe began to throw more fireballs, again Finn easily dodging them.

"Ahhhh!!!! God damn it, just fucking DIE!" Pheobe grew a fireball with both hands, and launched it at Finn, which landed and sent him flying back toward the wall behind him.

"Ha!" Pheobe snorted.

Finn regained his stance, hopping out of the crater he made in the wall.

"Nice shot. Try to maintain it." He retorted.

"I plan to!" Pheobe shot more fireballs at Finn, hitting him consistently.

"Argh! God damn it. This is not how this is gonna end!" Finn charged at Pheobe, able to tackle her.

"You son of a bitch! Get off of me!" Pheobe screamed, pushing Finn, trying to get him off of her.

Finn readjusted himself, and got on top of Pheobe.

"No! This is it you crackwhore! You even burned down my childhood home!" Finn wrapped his hands around Phoebes neck, beginning to choke her.

Pheobe simply smirked, before igniting her right hand into an alarming temperature.

"I'm glad you were there for that. See your little world crumble and fall!" Pheobe swing her hand, grabbing Finn's neck.

"Ahhhhhh!! Fuck!" Finn fell back, grabbing his neck in excruciating pain.

Pheobe laughed, as she slowly stood, and walked over to Finn.

"You aren't even gonna make it past the first floor you fucking failure of existence. What in the ever loving fuck makes you think you could defeat Bubbles?"

Finn, still grabbing his neck, stood.

"Because she's dead. So all I have left to do, is climb the ladder. Starting with you." He said slowly, taking his hand away from his burn wound.

Phoebes eyes widened.

"What?! You-you-you fucking... I'LL FUCKING BURN YOU ALIVE AND BOIL YOUR SKIN YOU INCONSIDERATE PIECE OF SHIT!!" Pheobe became enraged, beginning to burn brighter and brighter.

Finn wiped his mouth, and chuckled.

"I wouldn't have to break the sad news to you, if you weren't too busy drinking and sucking every person's cock and pussy in here."

Pheobe, seemingly impossible, became even brighter and hotter.

"SHUT UP YOU FUCKING DEGENERATE FUCKING GARBAGE RAT!!!" Pheobe shot a fireball at Finn, which he simply leaned to get out of its trajectory.

"What, are you running out of insults?" Finn retorted, walking towards Pheobe once more.

"I SAID SHUT UP!!" Pheobe shot a fire laser out of her eyes, and directed it at Finn.

Finn simply hopped over it, and grabbed hold of the hanging chandelier.

"YOU STUPID MOTHER FUCKER!!! NOW IVE GOT YOU CORNERED!!" Pheobe screamed, a smile spreading across her lips.

Pheobe aimed her fire beam up at Finn, seemingly becoming victorious.

"That's where you're wrong bitch." Finn said quietly.

Finn swung from the chandelier, able to just escape Pheobe's aim.

He stuck his feet out, landing on the wall. He then launched himself at Pheobe.

"WHAT THE?!" She yelled in confusion.

Finn tackled Pheobe, the two rolling around on the floor.

Finn moved on top of Pheobe, and began to punch her with his fists.

"GE-OF-O-E" Pheobe tried to yell out, but her face and jaw began to deform and crack from the constant impacts.

"NO! I'm tired, and I'm done with this shit! I've fucking dealt with you as much as I dealt with Bubblebitch, and she's finally dead!"

Finn continued to pummel Pheobes face, blood splattering across the wall. He was essentially doing what he did to the guard that tried to harass Fiona, except he wasn't being interrupted.

"P-E-S-E S-OP" Pheobe tried to gurgle out, before Finn had finally broke her jaw.

"BURN. IN.HELL!" Finn said, before finally landing the killing blow. Finn continued to punch Pheobes deformed face, before a hole formed, showing the ground beneath them.

Finn finally stopped, breathing heavily and shaking. He looked at his hands. Blood drenched them. He looked towards the stairs.

"I'm. Coming." He said, a quiet, but anger ridden tone in his voice.

He headed towards the stairs. As if to egg him on, he began to hear music. He whirled around, and saw nobody around. But, the speakers continued to play, the volume increasing. A symphony of fight songs began to synchronize and play in a harmonic and heavenly sound.

Finn looked towards the sky, and nodded. He then kicked the door to the stairs down, beginning his ascent.

"IM COMING FOR YOU MARCY!" He screamed.

Rooftop

"IM COMING FOR YOU MARCY!!" Marceline heard the exclamation from the roof.

"Great. I fucking look forward to it, you piece of shit." She said quietly.

"Good. I hope you look forward to fucking dying!" Rachel screamed.

Marceline still had them at gun point, but now sat on on of the vents opposite the one the girls were tied up to.

"See, I'm not the one who's gonna die. If you'd just shut the fuck up, then you start to slowly see that and realize, that this isn't going to have a happy ending." Marceline snapped back.

"You're wrong! You will die. You're a backstabbing two faced bitch, and you deserve to die!" Rachel screamed once more.

This time, Marceline shifted her gaze to Fiona, who was simply just staring back at her with a nasty snarl on her face.

"Can you control your bitchs shitty mouth? I might have to put some lead in it if she does not cooperate."

Fiona continued to just simply stare back at Marceline.

Marceline scoffed," Alright. Your choice."

Marceline stood up and walked to Rachel. She put the barrel of the gun to her mouth. She still stared at Fiona, not breaking the eye contact she had.

"Just say the word. Say the word, and you'll be the only one that Finn will 'save."

Fiona's snarl remained, as she also did not break eye contact with the new raging tyrant.

Rachel looked at Fiona with wide eyes, tears beginning to streak her face once more.

"Rachel, please keep your mouth shut." Fiona said quietly.

Marceline grinned, "Good. See how easy that was?" She said, before pistol whipping Rachel, making her nose bleed.

"Now, all we do is wait for your precious 'hero' to climb the mountain."

Downstairs

"Squad, we have sight on the target. Engage." A guard said into a walkie talkie.

Finn ran up the stairs to the second floor, adrenaline at its max.

"AHHHH!!!!" A guard ran at him, knife in hand.

Finn took a simply duck, and uppercutted him, sending him down upon his own blade.

Another guard took charge, and Finn simply punched him in the face, and arm dragged him, snapping his spine on the metal stairs.

Finn ascended, now hitting the third floor. A pair of guards pulled him into the hall, shoving him down the corridor.

"Gotcha cornered now you sack of shit!" One of them exclaimed, charging.

Finn simply tripped him, grabbing his knife out of his sheath and throwing it at the other guards forehead. He then turned and snapped the fallen guards neck.

Finn ran down the hall, till he hit the stairs on the other end of the floor. He hopped onto the rail, and climbed past the fourth and fifth floors.

"Not so fast fucker!" A guard grabbed him by the neck and threw him into the wall, creating huge cracks where the large red painted "6" was.

"End of the line shithead!" The guard screamed, pointing a gun at Finns face.

Finn simply kicked the gun out the guards hand, kneed him in the face, and caught the gun himself.

"Shut. Up." Finn said quietly, before pulling the trigger, killing the guard point blank, splattering blood onto his face.

Finn looked back at the doorway to the stairs, before whirling around and seeing a familiar face at the end of the hall.

Fliqpy stared pensively at Finn, not moving.

Finn took a single step toward Fliqpy, speaking at a soft, but threatening tone simultaneously.

"Why are you still here?" He said, taking another step toward Fliqpy.

"Listen Finn, I don't want trouble. I'm just alive. I'll leave you be. Please."

Finn continued toward Fliqpy, still at a slow, but steady pace.

"You continued this escapade. That night we defeated you, you went along with her plan. You kidnapped my kid. Just because you have a "change of heart" in one instance doesn't save you."

"Listen Finn. I'm sorry. I can't change what I did, but if I could I would. Please man."

Finn eventually reached Fliqpy, stopping at arms length.

"Please man. I don't want any trouble. I'll move aside. Please." Fliqpy begged.

"I don't want trouble either. So..." Finn grabbed him by the throat.

"Leave." Finn threw Fliqpy down, stepping over him and continuing to the other stairwell.

"Finn, she'll kill you!" Fliqpy screamed back at him.

"No." Finn said, not turning his back.

Fliqpy withdrew a Bowie knife, and threw it at Finn.

"Fucking LISTEN!" He screamed.

Finn didn't turn around, but moved his head, dodging the blade. He grabbed it by the handle, and threw it back at Fliqpy, hitting him in the shoulder.

"Ah!" Fliqpy screamed, trying to take the blade out of his now bleeding wound.

"I said. Leave." Finn said, continuing to the stairwell.

"Finn." Finn paused, but did not turn around.

"Make her pay."

Rooftop

Marceline glanced at the sky, dark clouds now beginning to look over the landscape.

"Shame. Suns gone out." She muttered.

"Good, now it'll rain on your parade." Rachel snapped.

Marceline only gave a nastier snarl at Rachel, before responding.

"The only reason I'm NOT going to put a bullet in your head, is because that was a clever remark." She said, her frown only increasing.

"Shut up. You won't do anything until Finn gets here. You know that, I know that, and even he knows that." Fiona said promptly.

Marcelin turned her attention to Fiona, a crack of lightning going off in the distance.

"Wanna bet? I'll empty this barrel right now without batting an eye."

"Go ahead then." Fiona replied back, not flinching.

Marceline stared pensively at her, before turning the gun to Rachel and fired.

"NO!" Fiona screamed.

Rachel braced for the bullets impact, but it never came.

A banana guard stood in front of her, the chamber of Marceline's gun entering his body.

Marceline paused, recognizing the now standing corpse as Peter.

"Peter?"

Peters body fell forward, revealing the savior of her captives.

Finn.

Flashback

Finn paced frantically around the dressing room, mumbling nonsense.

"Finn, calm down. Everything's going to be fine." Mordecai said.

"I know everything is going to be fine. But that's the problem. It needs to be perfect!"

"It will be. Just calm down." Flippy said, stopping Finn in his pacing, and dusting off his tuxedo.

"I love this woman to my core. I want everything to be from it.." Finn muttered.

Flippy looked Finn in the eyes, "Finn. Take a deep breath. You will be fine. The wedding will be perfect. We wouldn't lie to you."

Finn glanced over at Mordecai, who nodded in agreement.

Finn took a deep breath.

"Alright. Alright. You guys get to where you need to be. I'll be out shortly."

Flippy and Mordecai left the room, as Finn took one last look in the mirror.

The man he used to be, before everything, was no more. He was a changed man. No longer would he have to worry about anything. No more death threats, no more anything. He could carry on with his life and live without worry.

Finn blinked, and in the mirror he saw himself. But not how he should have. The reflection showed a battered, beaten, man. It was Finn, but it wasn't.

The reflection, as quick as it appeared, vanished. Finn once again, shook his head and wiped the sweat off his forehead.

He sighed.

"Alright. It's showtime."

Present

"Well... well... well... here we are." Marceline spat, tossing the empty handgun aside.

Finn simply glared at his ex-wife, his eyes fixated squarely on her.

"You know, this reminds me of the days we used to run around and frolic back when. Before I realized what a bitch ass fuck you were." She said, smirking.

"And how long did it take you to realize that?" Finn retorted.

"Oh, I'd say about a week after our honey moon. Your stupid little shrimp dick could only satisfy a queen like me for such a short amount of time."

Finn didn't respond, but bent his knees and squared his arms up.

"Well, 'queenie', why don't I satisfy you one last time?"

Marceline laughed, before shaking her hands and blue flames came out.

"I'm ready whenever you are." She said slyly.

"Oh, she give you her stupid little tricks and magic? How special." Finn spat.

Marceline giggled, it wasn't like how Bonnie used to, but it was damn near close.

"She gave me something that's for sure. Something you've never been able to provide."

"Funny you say that, because there's somebody who would disagree with you."

Marceline shook her head, "Fuck. You."

Marceline threw her arm up, charging a blue flame, before firing it at Finn.

"FUCK YOU!" She screamed, as the projectile left her hand.

Finn ducked underneath it, before charging at Marceline, tackling her.

"This is going to end, you backstabbing bitch. I lost once, and I'm not going to lose again!" Finn shouted, as he began to swing on Marceline.

He was able to land a few punches, before Marceline swung her legs up across his neck, and flung Finn off of her.

They both stood, standing still momentarily.

"Finn! Push her off! Send this rat ass bitch off the building!" Rachel cried out.

"Shut up!" Marceline shot a blue flame at the two, hitting Rachel in the abdomen.

"Don't. Fucking. Touch. Them!" Finn screamed, running at Marceline again.

She giggled," Oh you pathetic fucking excuse of a man." She whirled her hand, and a gigantic blue fist appeared. It bent, and she sent it at Finn.

Finn tried to dodge it, but was unable to escape its projectory.

He was sent flying back, hitting the edge of the rooftop.

Dazed, he slowly got back up to his feet.

"Why so slow? You were quick to put down Bonnie and Pheobe. Marceline scoffed. "Just proves you aren't good at finishing."

Finn gritted his teeth, putting his fists up.

"I didn't hear no bell." He said quietly.

Marceline laughed, "Well, then the match continues"

Marceline sent a flame at Finn, which he dodged. Finn lept off a vent, launching himself at Marceline. He stuck his foot out, landing a hard kick across her face. The force of the strike sent Marceline stumbling.

"Fucking die!" Finn screamed, running at her.

Marceline shook her head, regaining her sense.

She grinned, waving her hand.

"I'll break you in more ways than one. You belong to me."

As she said this, blue spirits began to rise from the rooftop. They resembled everyone who had fallen over the years.

Finn stopped in his tracks, as tears began to streak his face.

"All your friends and family. How ashamed they are. How disappointed they are. They think you're a disgrace. Listen to them"

The ghosts began to mumor.

"Worthless..."

"Coward..."

"Weak.."

"Loser..."

"Fuck you. I know they aren't real."

Marceline giggled," Oh honey, they're very real. They are what you fear. They are what you refuse to accept. The truth."

"The truth? You want to hear the truth Marcy?" Finn asked. The atmosphere was now clear. Almost as if all the anger had left, and all the was left was calm.

"And what truth do you think I should hear?" Marceline asked, staring at Finn.

Finn took a step, breathing in slowly. He began to walk through the crowd of spirits.

He passed his mother and father. The tears that had streaked his face moments before, now dried.

"You make this happen, to break me. But what about you? Look at him!" Finn screamed, pointing at one of the spirits.

Marceline locked her gaze upon the ghost, and froze. It was Jake.

"That's your son. Our son. You say you never loved me, but I know you did. This isn't you. Look at them." Finn lifted his arm, gesturing to Fiona and Rachel, who were in silent awe over the whole thing.

"You were in their position. I saved you from this hell. She beat you just like you beat them. You have become the very monster you were tortured by. If she really loved you, she would NEVER have done what she did to you. Marceline..." Finn stopped, mere feet away from her. She stood, motionless, eyes fixated on him.

"Just put it down. Put out the flame. Let the fire die out. This isn't you. It never has been. You claim that you always loved her, and never felt a thing about me. But we both know that's not true."

Marceline began to cry, her knees buckling. After a moment, she collapsed to her knees. She held her head down, crying.

Finn put his arm in her shoulder.

"It's okay Marcy. It's okay. We can put this behind us. Just let these two go."

Marceline's cries paused, momentarily as she lifted her head. She put her hand on his cheek.

Flashback

Finn sat, alone in the cell. Bubblegum would be arriving anytime to continue the torture. But, she had him, meaning his family would be safe. It was the day after the drama happened between him and Marceline, and Fiona was brought down to him.

He heard the door to his room open, and looked up to glare at his tormentor. But he was met with somebody else.

"Hey Finn..." Marceline said quietly.

Finn didn't respond, rather, he put his head back down.

"I know you're mad..."

Finn didn't move.

"I'm not mad."

"Then what are you?"

"You tell me." FiNN chimed in before chiming back out.

"Finn, listen. It was for a greater cause. I swear..."

"Greater cause? Greater cause?" Finn stood.

"Look at me!" Finn pointed to his face, which was still healing from the kick he received the day before. He was also pointing to the "edited" side of his face.

"Finn, she has you but..."

"But what Marceline? But what?" He walked up to the cell door, closer to Marceline.

"They're not in danger anymore. She has you..."

Finn stared at Marceline, his real eye wide.

"Danger? They've been in nothing but danger! From the moment she kidnapped you, Flaky, Margaret, and Rachel, we've been in danger."

"I'm surprised you remembered her. She didn't last long..."

"Of course I do. How could I not? I'm not surprised you would since you're just like her. Switch sides and act like nothing happened."

"Finn, you know it wasn't like that at fir-"

"Exactly. At first. If it weren't like that at all, you would've found a way to use your relationship and end this charade once and for all."

"Finn, you... you don't get it do you? You're so god damn selfish, that you can't stop for five seconds to think-"

"THINK? THATS ALL I CAN FUCKING DO DOWN HERE!" Finn balled his metal hand into a fist, and punched the cell door. It bent slightly more, which went unnoticed by Marceline.

"Finn, it was just what was the best for everyone. I'm sorry..."

"Fuck your apology. What did you even come in here for? Just to antagonize me? We had this argument last night."

"I just wanted to see if you were okay..." She put a hand his cheek.

Finn's eye grew wider at her response. Marceline could see the formation of tears, but didn't know if they were from sadness, or anger.

Finn pulled his head away, walking back over to the stone wall and sitting down.

"Get. Out." He said softly, putting his head down and face into his hands.

Marceline turned to walk out the door, before stopping with her hand on the knob.

"Bonnies on her way down. She's bringing Fiona back down to you with her." She paused.

"I'm sorry..."

And with that, she walked out the door, slamming it behind her.

End Flashback

*schlick*

Fiona and Rachel both screamed, as the sight before them was all too familiar.

Marceline, had her hand on Finns cheek, while her other hand was on his chest. A blade extruded from it, going into the chest of the man before her.

Finn's eyes widened. His eyes fixated to his wound.

"No, no. No. No. No. no. Please no, not like this. Not this way."

Marceline's blank face, widened into a grin.

"I will. But you have to pay the price for them."

Finn became enraged, growling.

"You think I'm going to go down as easily as I did before? Think. Again." He grabbed her face and pulled her head into his knee, sending her back. The force of the knee strike also ripped the blade out of his chest, to which Finn screamed in agonizing pain. He put his hand to his wound, feeling the rush of blood flow. He ignored it.

Marceline flipped through the air, landing on her feet. She blew her hair out her face, revealing a crazed look. Her pupils strained, almost bloodshot.

"You want to fucking go? Alright then honey. I'm bringing all I've got."

She charged a flame, then shot it. Finn was able to counter, sending the projectile back at her. It struck her, she stumbled back.

Finn took this moment of opportunity to run up and land a hard jab to her face, once more sending her stumbling.

He unleashed a fury of punches to her torso, before finally head butting her. The force sent her spiraling to the edge of the rooftop, but not over.

Finn stood over her, ready to enact the final blows.

"Any last words, before I finally do write this book a happy ending?"

Marceline looked back at Finn, only responding with a giggle that grew in intensity and volume.

"Words can't even describe the ending..."

Marceline waved her left hand, and then lifted her right hand back. She whispered something Finn couldn't hear. Suddenly, a gigantic red flame flew out of her hand, towards Finn.

Finn was able to jump over it, and he landed back on his feet.

"Good shot. You fucking missed."

Marceline's pupils dilated once more, and she smiled, wider than before. She was silent, before she responded quietly and ominously.

"I wasn't aiming for you." She said, returning to her giggle, which then grew into a cackle.

Suddenly, a beam of light erupted from the sky, encasing Marceline. She began to levitate, while a wide smile spread her lips.

"Finn, look!" Fiona screamed.

Finn whipped his head, seeing a second beam appear off the building.

"Oh fuck..." He thought. He knew exactly where the beam landed.

After a moment, the second beam stood next to Marceline, with Bubblegum inside it.

Her body was still, but only momentarily.

Marceline stuck her arm out to Bubblegum, connecting their beams.

Bubblegum twitched, before springing back to life.

"AHHHHH!" She screamed, as she clenched her fists, regaining her life and movement.

She brought her head up, and stared right at Finn.

"Miss me fuckhead?!" She began to cackle, as the beams whirled and whirled.

"You think you had us? You think it would be easy? Well, I've got news for you..."

The beams grew bright, causing Finn and the two girls to shield their eyes.

The only sound that was audible was the cackling and giggling from both Marceline and Bubblegum.

The two beams fused, and all there was a blinding brightness.

What felt like years passed, and the light dimmed, and the heroes were able to unsheathe their eyes.

CRUNCH

CRUNCH

Finns eyes moved upward, as what appeared before him almost made him shit his pants.

The beams left a new obstacle. A fusion of his worst nightmares.

"Welcome to round two, mothefucker!"

Almost twice his height and size, the monster before him, a combination of Marceline and Bubblegum.

"Finn!!" Fiona screamed.

Bubbline gave a menacing cackle.

"I hope you're ready hero. This is it. The Finale."

Finn balled his fists.

"I'm ready when you are."

Bubbline brought down her fists onto the roof, shattering the windows of the floors below.

Finn ran up to her, jumping through the air and flipping his body, sticking his right leg out for a kick.

"Ha! You think that old trick will work?" Bubbline grabbed his leg, and twirled him around.

"Finn!"

"Finn, no!!" Screams from Rachel and Fiona bellowed to the sky.

Bubbline finally let go, tossing Finn through the air. Finn went spine first into a vent, landing with a thud.

"Get up you fucker! Cmon, you've got people to save! Hero!" Bubbline screamed, taunting and mocking Finn.

Finn struggled to stand, taking a moment to catch his breath.

"What's the matter hero? Are you quitting? Just like you quit on me? Like how you quit on everyone?"

Flashback

Bubblegum walked over to the control panel, a clipboard in her other hand.

Finn lie on a cold metal bed. The left side of his face still red from the 'experiment', his 'new' arm still wrapped.

A robotic voice came over the PA.

"Day 5. Test number 639."

Bubblegum gave a little chuckle.

"My my. You sure are a strong man. Still fighting."

"Fuck... you..." Finn said weakly.

Bubblegums smile grew wider, as she flipped the switch. Over 9000 volts jolted through Finns body. His body sparked and jumped, as if it were dancing to music.

Finn screamed out in pain, well tried to at least. His lungs scratched from doing nothing but screaming in agonizing pain.

After a moment, Bubblegum flipped the switch, turning off the voltage.

Steam fumed off Finns body, as he hyperventilated, trying to catch his breath.

Bubblegum wrote something down in her notepad, then sat back and stared at Finn.

"Why won't you quit? You're such a stubborn piece of shit."

"I-I- never quit. Not on anybody." Finn said softly.

"Wrong." Bubblegum flipped the switch back on, and the bolts were once again sent into Finns body. He opened his mouth to scream, but it was more of a hoarse cry.

After a few minutes, Bubblegum turned off the machine once again.

"I'm going to break you Finn, whether you like it or not. So just fucking give in already!"

Finn, breathing heavily, replied.

"N-n-no. N-n-never."

Bubblegum shrugged, "Okay then. Beginning test number 640."

Bubblegum turned a knob on the control panel, turning up the voltage, and then flipped the switch once more.

Tears began to streak Finns face, as his hoarse throat would not allow him to scream.

Bubblegum giggled.

"You will learn. You will learn..."

End Flashback

"Fuck you. Fuck you. FUCK YOU!" Finn stood, and ran up to Bubbline.

Bubbline laughed.

"Aw look, baby wants to play."

Bubbline brought her fists down onto the roof again. Finn was able to dodge and took a hard swing at her face. The blow knocked her back a few feet, bringing her closer to the edge of the roof.

She wiped her mouth, "That was a good one. Got any more?"

Finn lept in the air again, bringing his fists in front of him.

Bubbline giggled.

"Oh you poor naive fuck."

Bubbline grabbed Finns arm, and bent it back, breaking it.

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

"Finn, No!" Rachel and Fiona screamed simultaneously.

Finn dropped to his knees, bending over in excruciating pain.

Bubbline didn't let up, headbutting him, sending him backwards.

Finn was sent spiraling, before he collided face first into the vent that Fiona and Rachel were tied to.

Bubbline walked up, giving silent, but menacing giggles.

Finn slowly turned his body, his face oozing blood.

Fiona began to cry out, trying desperately to escape the restraints to help her lover.

"All you've ever done is let people down. You let Mineta down. You let Martin down. You let Joshua and Margaret down..."

"Shut...up..."

"Jake would be so dissapointed in you. Such a weak pathetic fool. He would want you to keep fighting. Be the hero you say you are."

"Shut...up..."

"What would Mordecai and Flippy say? They would be ashamed to have ever associated with someone as worthless as you."

"Fuck you bitch! Don't fucking talk about my dad, or anyone!" Rachel screamed, tears streaming her face.

Bubbline threw her head back and gave a chuckle, before sending her fist into Rachel's face.

"Don't fucking touch them!" Finn lept up, throwing his non broken arm up to try to land a strike.

Bubbline, without even looking, grabbed Finns arm, and brought it down on her knee, breaking it. She then brought her arm back, and punched Finn in the face, breaking his nose. She then threw him back down onto the vent next to Fiona and Rachel.

Bubbline bent down, eye level to Finn.

"You really thought you would win huh? Tell me, how did you come back from the dead? And why after all these years?"

Finn coughed up blood, before speaking.

"It-It doesn't matter. I'm-im- gonna kill you."

Bubbline stared into Finns eyes, not breaking eye contact.

"I'm sure you will."

Bubbline then took her hand, and balled it into a fist. She then shoved her fist into Finns open wound, going deeper and deeper.

"Nooooo!!!" Fiona screamed, trying her best to tear away. She kicked her leg, trying to get at Bubbline.

"I'll see you in hell, Finn." She withdrew her arm from within him, licking off some of the blood.

Finn, took one last glance over at Fiona and Rachel. Rachel was trying to help Fiona break the restraint, while Fiona's eyes flooded with tears. Tears began to fall from his face as well, before he shifted his gaze back to Bubbline.

"F-f-Fuck. Y-y-you." Finn stammered, before closing his eyes.

Bubbline stood, laughing.

"So so close hero. But you fall just short. You pathetic failure." Bubbline turned her attention to the girls.

"As for you two..."

Finn's conscience

Finn stood, alone in a white void.

"No... please..."

He crumpled to his knees, sobbing.

"There there. Everything is going to be okay." He heard from in front of him.

"No.. it's not." He sniffled.

"I'm a failure. I let everyone down. And now, everyone is going to burn in hell for my mistakes..." Finn sobbed again.

"You made a promise, knowing the risks. You chose to put your life and after life on the line to save your family. You knew that what you bid, was all the chips on the table. That's what makes you a hero. A real hero."

Finn's tears fell harder, his sobs intensifying.

"Yeah, and look where that got me. I bid all my chips on black, and it landed on red. Bust. Catch 22. Game over. It's all over."

He felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Finn, we all can't make it big. You will catch 22 from time to time. But, you have to know when to walk away from the table, before it's too late."

Finn scoffed, almost snorting in between his sobs.

"Yeah, and apparently it's too late. This is it. I was given my final chance. There is no comeback story here..."

Finn put his head down in shame, his cries being the only audible noise.

"Finn, look at me." The voice said.

With that, Finn raised his head, but stopped his cries after looking into the eyes of the person he was speaking with.

"J-J-Jake?"

His deceased best friend smiled, as his former brother recognized him after all these years.

"Finn, I know we didn't get to say too much to each other the first time, but I love you man. I've watched over you since she decided she was too good to be our friend. Before she decided to slice me. I know what you can do. What you're capable of."

Finn rolled his eyes.

"Or what I could do. This is it. It's too late. Fiona and Rachel are going to die on that rooftop, and it's all my fault..."

Jake tried to think of something to say, to comfort his brother, but couldn't.

"Let me ask you something. Why are you here? You defended me. I put your afterlife in just as much danger as my own."

Jake sighed, before responding.

"Finn, were best friends. Brothers. Family. For life. I will always be by your side, through thick and thin. We all will." And with that statement, more of Finn's former allies began to appear in the void.

Flippy and Flaky held hands together, as they stood behind Jake. Mineta and Martin walked up behind Finn, placing their hands on his shoulders. Mordecai rode the golf cart up, and sat on the roof of it. Gumball and Darwin stood next to the cart, nodded their heads in acknowledgment. An embodiment of FiNN stood a little bit away, giving a two finger salute of acknowledgement.

Lastly, Jake, his son, walked up and saluted his father.

"Don't you ever forget that. We will always have your back. We will always defend you. We will always be here to aid you."

Finn gave a weak smile, before dropping it for a face of sadness.

"How can you guys help. We're all dead now..."

Jake gave a small chuckle.

"No, we aren't brother. No you aren't..."

With that, Finn began to see that everyone around him began to glow. Their auras shining brighter than the sunshine on a perfect day.

"Come along with me..." Jake said, as he offered his hand out to Finn.

Reality

"Now then, where were we?" Bubbline said slyly, beginning to divert her attention to the two vulnerable girls.

"Fuck off!" Fiona spat a wad of saliva at Bubblines face, making her reel in disgust.

"You fucking whore! I'll-"

Suddenly, a ray of light extruded from Finns body, sending Bubbline back a few feet.

"What the he-?"

Finn's body began to levitate, lifting off of the ground. The light grew brighter, now giving off a golden ray.

Then, like a majestic spell, Finns body jolted, and he landed. His eyes remained closed.

"Finn!"

"I-Impossible. How do you keep coming back?!!" Bubbline screamed.

Finn, opened his eyes, revealing his pupils to be a rainbow of colors. Bubbline, still not fully understanding, knew what happened. The symbolic sacrifice the fallen had made. Finn had one thing she never would.

Love. True. Love.

Sure, Marceline loved Bubblegum to her core, and Marceline "loved" Finn and co, but it was never the amount of love that deserved sacrifice.

"Get. Away. From. Them." Finn said softly, but sternly.

Bubbline gave a maniac giggle, showing the insanity and the madness.

"Or what?"

Finn swept his leg in the air, catching Bubbline with a hard roundhouse kick. The kick sent her flying on her back.

Bubbline grabbed her jaw, the smile not leaving her face.

"Alrighty then buddy boo bear. Let's dance."

Bubbleline jumped back up on her feet, throwing a red flame at Finn. Finn simply leaned over, and dodged the projectile.

Bubbline threw another one, and, once more effortlessly, Finn dodged it.

"Fucking DIE!" Bubbline screamed, again throwing a flame.

Finn, this time, dodged it, but was able to maneuver his arm to throw the flame back at Bubbline. The flame sent her back, her hair frizzed and mangled. True insanity sparked her face.

Bubbline drew a hard breath, thinking about how she needed to finish off her foe.

After a moment, a gigantic smirk spread across her face.

"Fine. If I can't beat you physically, I'll beat you emotionally."

Bubbline went for a jab with her left, to which Finn blocked. This, she was expecting, as she then used her right to swing the other way and knock Finn sideways.

With Finn momentarily distracted, Bubbline grabbed Fiona and Rachel.

"FINNNN!"

Finn shook his head, regaining his attention and turning it to Bubbline, who had now walked over to the edge of the rooftop.

She was holding the girls by their necks over the edge; Fiona on her left, and Rachel on her right.

"You've done nothing but make selfish and irresponsible decisions for 20 plus years Finn. Each decision you've made has gotten somebody hurt, or gotten them killed. You claim yourself a hero? Well, heroes have choices. We all do."

"Put them down Marceline. This is between you and me." Finn slowly approaching.

"How do you know who you're talking to? You could be talking to Bonnie for all you know."

"I don't care who I'm talking to. Put them down. This doesn't involve them, and it never did. The issue has been me."

"But they are involved. They are living evidence that everything you touch is in life threatening danger. Fiona wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for your selfish needs.

"Fuck. You. She knows it's not my fault."

"But it is. Everything is your fault. And Miss LoudMouth over here?" Bubbline nodded to Rachel.

"Flippy would still be alive if it wasn't for you. You killed him. You did." Bubblines words were cold.

"No. No I didn't. It was you Marceline. You killed him. You helped your fucking queenie make me a pawn in her game."

"Enough! You ruined my life's work, and now... I'm gonna ruin yours." Bubbline said ominously. She continued.

"We are who we choose to be Finn. Now, choose!" And as soon as the end of the word left her lips, Bubbline released the two girls, sending them falling to their demise.

"NO!" Finn screamed.

Bubbline laughed manically, shouting, "Now what hero?"

Finn looked at Bubbline with more rage than he ever felt in his life.

"Now what? I'll show you what!"

Finn ran up to Bubbline, full speed.

"Wha-"

Finn then lowered his shoulder, and tackled Bubbline off the roof, sending them in the same footsteps as the two girls below them.

As if time stood still, Finn blinked, as he saw Fiona and Rachel just a few feet below him. He reached for them, hoping to catch and save them.

"Not this time lover boy!" Bubbline grabbed Finns foot, and dragged him back, pulling him away from the two damsels.

"No!" Finn yelled, still reaching for the girls.

He turned, and socked Bubbline in the face, launching off of her and sending him closer down.

"Finn!!!!!" Fiona and Rachel screamed.

Finn, using all of what he could muster, reached once more. As if to assist, an extension of color left his arm, and he was able to grab hold to Fiona.

In turn, Fiona grabbed Rachel, and braced for impact.

"Hold on!" Finn then moved his grip to Fiona's torso, and launched the two girls into a floor. The windows were shattered from the battle on the roof, so they rolled into the building with less scars then deserved.

"YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!!" Bubbline grabbed Finn by his throat, making sure he would land first.

"IM GONNA MAKE SURE YOU FUCKING CRACK OPEN LIKE AN EGG!"

Finn swung his leg, positioning himself to drag Bubbline to eye level.

"Remember Marceline." Bubbline gave him a confused look.

"Til death do us part.."

THUD

Rachel ran over to the windowsill, looking down on the two.

"Oh my god..."

Fiona, slow in her movements, stood. She joined Rachel's side as quick as she could.

"Isheisheishe-" She was trying to spit out, but her adrenaline was so fast she couldn't speak.

"I don't know. We need to get down there!"

Ground Floor

Finn lie still, trying to catch his breath. He turned his head, and saw that Bubbline was no more, separating Bubblegum and Marceline.

Bubblegum stood slowly, limping over to Finn. She wielded the blade that Marceline had.

Finn sat up, still breathing heavily.

"Go... ahead... just finish it already..."

Bubblegum lifted her arm, ready to stab Finn, before falling to her knees.

"F-f-fuck..." She stammered out, before falling on her face.

A gust of wind blew through Finns hair, signaling that Bubblegum was no more.

"You piece of shit..."

Finn turned back around, and saw Marceline was on her knees. She tried to stand, but couldn't find the strength.

Finn mustered all the strength he could, and rose to his feet.

"How am I the piece of shit? You turned your back on everyone Marceline. Everyone. Just for her?" Finn gestured to Bubblegums motionless body.

"Like you didn't turn your back on me for her?" Marceline finally found the strength to stand on her feet.

"First of all. I didn't. I never did. You ran back to your precious princess before Fiona came back into my life. Second, I didn't even know that she was alive. Bubblegum kidnapped her the same way she kidnapped you over 20 years ago. But you wouldn't remember that would you?"

"Just like you remembered to tell me about Fiona? We were married 18 years Finn. You had 18 years to tell me about her. Why were you so afraid?"

"That reaction right there. That right there is why I never said anything. And we were kids when the riots happened."

"And? You had all that time to tell me. How do you know that I would've been offended or anything?"

"Why does it matter? 'You never loved me' remember?"

Tears began to stream down Marceline's face.

"Fuck you Finn."

Finn was taken aback.

"Fuck me? What have you done for that last eight years Marceline? What did you do when she killed our son? Nothing. You did nothing, and have done nothing."

Marceline began to full on bawl at this point.

"I'm sorry! Okay? Are you happy? I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I helped murder Jake. I'm sorry I didn't do anything when Flippy died. I'm sorry that everything has happened."

Finn stared at her for a moment, before responding.

"No you're not."

Marceline paused her crying, being offended by this.

"What the FUCK do you mean I'm not?"

"You're not sorry. You're not sorry because you never loved me right? I was just a detour in the Grand Prix that is 'Bonnibel Bubblegum's snatch'. Right?"

"Fuck. You." Marceline said.

Finn stared at her.

"You know, there was a point in time I did love you Finn."

"And when was that, before or after I was made a cyborg?"

"I didn't have a say in that. You know that. That was all Bonnie."

"It doesn't matter Marceline. You could've stopped it. You could've done something. I looked at you and pleaded for you to do something. And what did you do? When she brought Fiona out, you ran away."

"I was feeling conflicted-"

"CONFLICTED? You ran out like a little bitch. Just like you always have. You ran out on me, you ran out on Jake, and you ran out on all of your family and friends. You ran out over some gum flavored pussy!"

"AHHH SHUT UP!" Marceline blindly fired a flameball, missing and hitting a nearby patch of grass.

"You told me 'oh it was to keep everyone safe'. And that might have been the case. But you know what you could've done? You could've taken the opportunity to know the place and try get everyone out safely. But what did you do instead?"

"It wasn't that easy..."

"It sure fucking looked easy for you to snake your tongue between her clit huh?"

"SHUT UP!" Marceline yelled, tears blinding her aim as she once again hurled a flameball at Finn, missing.

"Fliqpy had to make the call. Him of all people. If I remember correctly, he raped you. Right? Or am I forgetting something?"

"Shut the fuck up Finn. What happened in the past doesn't matter.."

"YOU'RE ONE TO FUCKING SAY THAT! You hold Fiona over my head even though those riots were when we were just teenagers."

Marceline didn't respond.

"Exactly. Now you don't have shit to say."

"Just-"

"Just what?" By this point, Finn walked up to Marceline, and stood just inches away from her.

"Just..." Marceline muttered.

Kablam

Schlick

Marceline charged a flameball, and released it into Finns chest. Simultaneously, Finn used the blade that Bubblegum had attempted to kill him with, and dug it deep into Marceline's abdomen.

"Til death do us part.."

Marceline slumped over, shorting of breath. She put a hand on her wound, and it oozed blood.

Finn stood over her, grabbing her by the collar and pulling her to eye level.

"I-I-I..." Marceline tried to sputter out, coughing blood.

Finn cut her off, leaned over and kissed Marceline. He held his lips on hers for what seemed like an eternity.

Finally, it seemed that Finn had no more strength, as he dropped Marceline and fell on his back.

The twos bodies fell in line with Bubblegums, creating a heart in the grass. The symbolic meaning saying all without any words.

Finn began to fade, and before he closed his eyes, he heard Fiona scream.

"FINNNNNNNNNN!..."

Flashback

Finn and Fiona made their way to the crowd, seeing that the riots were already in action.

"Cmon babe, we gotta get to the meat of this!" Finn said excitedly, pulling Fiona by the arm.

"I don't know Finn, something just seems... off today." Fiona looked around, and indeed, something was off. The usual crowd that gets together wasn't as large. Almost as if the people who didn't show were aware of something that was going to happen.

Finn and Fiona reached the front of the crowd, almost on top of the riots shields.

"Fucking pigs!"

"Fry em crispy!"

"Oink oink"

A variety of chants and yells erupted from the crowd, as they almost seemed to be butting heads with the police, who used their shields to keep the crowd at bay.

"Finn, seriously, I don't think this is a good idea."

"Babe, just relax. Everything is going to be alright."

And then suddenly...

The crowd became more frenzied, and somebody threw something into the police side of the gathering. This proved to be the breaking point, as the riot shields dropped and the police weld batons.

"Finn, we gotta run." Fiona was trying to pull Finn away to safety, but he dragged.

"Fiona, we can beat them, we need to stay!"

An officer ran between the two, and began to beat on a civilian nearby.

"No Finn! We need to go. These people are carrying god knows what, and-"

Suddenly, Fiona stopped, and felt a warm liquid on her stomach. She looked down and saw that a knife was lodged in her stomach. Her grip loosened and she lost her grasp on Finns hand as she fell over.

"Fiona..!" Finn screamed, trying to catch her. But, in the frenzy, he was bombarded with people who were trying to fight into the crowd of police. The people swarmed him, separating him from Fiona. He watched as the crowd began to trample her, giving her more bruises and scars.

"Let me through! God damn it, let! Me! THROUGH!" Finn pushed and shoved his way back through the crowd, eventually getting to Fiona, after only barely dodging the baton of an officer.

"No.. no... god damn it NO!" Finn picked her up, running to the nearest hospital.

End Flashback

Finn opened his eyes, noticing he was in a hospital bed. His vision, not completely in focus.

His eyes fled across the room, faintly seeing those who had fallen among the years. There were two people who came in stronger, who when Finn saw, felt his heart stop.

Bubblegum walked up first, very quietly.

"Finn, I just...I just want to apologize for everything over the past. It was never your fault that Marcy left, and I'm sorry I took my anger out on you... You didn't deserve anything that happened. I don't know what came over me... I'm sorry about Jake, and I'm sorry about everyone and everything. I'm sorry..."

Finn weakly, nodded his head and gave a simple, yet the most meaningful reply.

"I forgive you."

Bubblegums spirit then faded, and another stepped forward.

"Finn I-"

Nothing further had to be said. They both understood each other's feelings.

"I love you." Marceline said, her spirit fading.

"I love you too..." Finn said.

"FINN!" A shout came from beside him.

Finns vision finally came into focus, and he was greeted by Fiona, who wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. He looked and saw Rachel sitting in a chair. Finn noticed that the two ladies now wore shirts and sweatpants.

"Oh my god, I thought we lost you again. I don't know what we would have done.."

"It's okay babe. I'm fine. How'd you get me here?"

Rachel stood from her chair on the wall, replying, "Well, with Bubblegum dead, the Guards didn't have to really listen to her. We found a few that hung back after the club went haywire and were able to have them help us. You really didn't look like you make it. You took a direct hit point blank."

"I've had worse. At least I'm still here..." Finn trailed off, realizing while he might still be alive, most of his friends and family were not.

"I really really thought... I couldn't bare..." Fiona cried.

"It's okay babe. I know." Fiona looked into Finns eyes and began to cry into his shoulder.

Rachel, noticing her uncle's solemn face, gave him a little reassurance.

"It's okay. They know how much this means. I'm sure they're looking down on us. They know we love them, and will miss them forever."

Finn nodded, his eyes starting to tear up.

"I love you so much Fiona. We can finally rest easy."

Rachel walked to the other side of the bed, hugging her uncle.

Finn looked out the window, noticing the bright sun over the horizon.

"It's finally over."

Wow. I have no words. I'm really sorry this took so long. I wanted to give the ending a really big send off, as you can see by the almost 3x amount of words I wrote. This story means so much to me, and I'm finally as I can bring so closure to myself in closing this wonderful adventure. I never forgot about it, even with the six year writers block. It was always with me, and will always stay with me til the end of my days. Thank you to everyone who stuck through with me, and stayed through the bitter end. The ups, the downs, the cringe, the awesomeness. Everything. Thank you guys so much. I love you all. I wish everyone stays safe, and well during all the shit that's going on in the world right now. Stay safe, stay classy, and as always:
