Mara didn't care how late it was she needed to find a way to get Leo back for Piper. When Leo and Piper tried to have a handfasting ceremony Leo was taken away by the Powers That Be. It wasn't fair to Piper or Leo and Mara was going to do something about it. She had to do something about it. And so Mara once again held her hands over the Sibley Tome and asked for spell, potion, anything to help but once again the pages did not flip.
Eva who had been working some magic of her own in the other room came out to join Mara. It pained Eva to see her daughter this way, especially since Mara didn't feel like she should be in the Manor after what happened. Not long after Leo was taken away Piper blew up at Mara about how it wasn't right that she could be with her Whitelighter while Leo was ripped away from her. Eva honestly thought Piper had gotten past all that because the situations were different, but apparently not.
"There isn't anything you can do, Dove. You need to get your rest." Eva sat beside Mara and gently smoothed down the back of her hair.
Mara shook her head in refusal. "I refuse to let this be the end of Piper and Leo's story." She looked at her mother with tired eyes. "Piper is right, you know. It's not fair that I get to have my happy ever after with Bash while her love was ripped away from her. I will not just sit back and do nothing."
Eva let out a deep breath before saying, "What if I told you this wasn't the end of their story?"
Mara furrowed her brow in reply. "What do you mean?"
"Time travel is a finicky thing, Dove." She stood up and kissed the top of Mara's head. "Get some rest and just let the events unfold."
Mara watched as Eva went off to her bedroom in a speechless manner. Did she just tell her that she knew Piper and Leo would end up together because of a time travel trip? It sure as hell sounded like she did. But the problem was Mara wasn't sure if Eva was telling her the truth or just telling her what she needed to hear.
Felix and Phoebe were on their way back to the Manor after their date when suddenly a little girl darted out into the road in front of the car, causing Felix to hit the brakes. Thankfully his reflexes were quick enough so he didn't end up hitting her.
The little girl looked terrified as they got out of the vehicle to check on her. Phoebe was the first to say, "Hi, sweetie, are you okay?"
The little girl clutched the locked music box in her hand and looked around frantically. "You can't have it! I won't let you!"
Before Phoebe could get another word out, the girl took off running. With a silent look between them, Phoebe and Felix agreed to go after her.
Felix had run faster than Phoebe so he saw when the little girl fell and could also see what was attacking her. Felix quickly turned Feline and ran to protect the girl – hissing and clawing at the little monsters that wanted to cause the girl harm.
Phoebe didn't see what the little girl and Felix apparently could, but that didn't stop her from going straight to the child and making sure she was alright. "You're safe," she assured the little girl. "It's okay. You're safe."
Back at the Manor while Phoebe was talking to the little girl – who they learned was named Kate – Felix told Piper and Prue what he saw. "That little girl has something the Trolls want. It's probably whatever is locked in that box she won't let go of."
Piper wasn't buying the whole Trolls thing. "Trolls? You seriously expect us to believe that Trolls exist. And if they did exist then why couldn't Phoebe see them?"
"She isn't a child. Children are more open to the magic of the world. A lot of the time imaginary friends really aren't imaginary at all, adults just can't see them." Felix realized that didn't answer the question of how he could see them and went on to explain further. "My Feline side allows me to see most creatures that can't be seen. Much like how an animal can see a spirit. It's the same concept."
Felix was about to explain more but due to a message from Eva he had to leave. "Look in the Book of Shadows if you don't believe me. Oh, wait, not they wouldn't be in there. But there should be a book in the Attic called the Enchanted Realm. Read that, I have to go." Without further ado, Felix darted up the stairs and through the Doorway leading to the Loft. "I hope you know you interrupted a very interesting case of Trolls."
Eva would inquire about that further but presently she had other things to discuss since Mara had finally gone to sleep. "Do you recall any timey wimey event that proved Piper and Leo do end up together? I hinted to Mara that there was because she was obsessing but I honestly have no idea."
Felix ran a hand through his hair before plopping down on the sofa. "Honestly, I'm not sure. You know I don't have perfect recall."
Eva did know this but she was hoping something would stick out. "It was worth a question."
Felix had a feeling that wasn't the only reason why Eva asked him to come home so soon. "What else is on your mind, Eva?"
"I would like you to take Mara to Salem for a few days. Take her to the old shops, teach her some of the older ways." Eva knew Felix would catch onto what she was saying.
Felix didn't need more details than that. "It's this years Halloween?" At her nod, he questioned, "Are you sure this preparation won't change anything?"
"Mara knew of the old ways during that trip, Felix. I am certain this is what she is to do. I would prefer if you left in the morning and help will be available to the Sisters if they need it for their Troll problem." Eva didn't have the same sight as her brother when it came to Trolls since she didn't have an animal form like he did, but she would help however she could if they needed it.
"I have faith they can handle it. Besides, Mara getting away is probably for the best right now. There's nothing she can do for Piper and Leo and Piper is still very upset. As much as Mara wants to be here for Piper, it's the last thing she should do." Felix stood up from the sofa and asked, "Is anyone else to join on this trip to Salem or is this only for Mara?"
"For now, just Mara. Bash is busy with the Elders trying to plead on behalf Leo and Landon hasn't been asked to join the Coven yet." Eva allowed herself a chuckle before she sighed. "Bash is using what is bothering Piper as his argument – Why should the rules be bent for Protectors and no one else."
Felix stared at Eva a moment before stating the obvious. "You know why that's different. Bash would have to clip his wings in order for him to ever marry Mara. While the relationship is allowed to ensure an eventual True Death, you know as well as I that they wouldn't be allowed to marry until he was mortal."
"I know that, and he knows that, and yet he's trying. I do hope things work out for the best." Eva truly did, if not just for Piper and Leo but so Piper would no longer resent Mara.
Oddly enough, the following day Mara didn't put up a fight about going to Salem with Felix. Of course she made a mention or two of how she could find something there to help Piper, but Eva wasn't going to argue about it since Mara was going.
Presently Eva was moving furniture aside in the living room to prepare for a spell. In case things either did or didn't go the way she wanted them to, she was going to need the space. She had just finished moving the sofa when the phone rang. Thinking it was Felix – since not many outside the family had that number – she answered the call with, "Let me guess, Mara is refusing to let you buy the outfit."
A confused Cole replied from his end of the line, "Not whomever you thought this was. It's Cole. Turner."
Eva had an epic facepalm moment upon hearing Cole's voice. "Wow, hi, sorry. I thought it was my brother calling."
Cole chuckled, "Most definitely not your brother." He paused for a moment before getting right to it. "I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me this evening."
"Took you long enough," Eva's voice made it clear she was smiling. "A little birdie told me you wanted to take me out to dinner awhile ago."
"Mara spilled the beans, huh?" Cole couldn't help but smile a bit himself. "So, is that a yes?" When she didn't answer right off, he added in, "I do apologize for my delayed timing."
Eva shook her head with a smile. "I would love to. How about we meet at P3 tonight?"
"It's a date. I look forward to it, Eva."
"Same." Eva quickly hung up because she honestly thought she was going to start squealing like a teenager. As excited as she was to go on this date, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Of course there was no way Cole or any other man could replace Lincoln in her heart, but still she felt a little guilty.
Eva was gonna have to sort her feelings out later because she had a spell to cast. With a piece of chalk she drew the Infinity Symbol upon the floor and placed crystals around the symbol. Once the protection crystals were in place, Eva picked up an Athame from the table and sliced her palm, allowing the blood to drip into the center. She whispered the incantation and once enough blood had dripped, she stepped back from the symbol and waited.
It wasn't long before a swirl of smoke appeared and dissipated to reveal a woman with raven black hair, fair skin, and Sibley Blue eyes staring back at her. The woman's attire looked as if she had been plucked out of a Jane Austen novel.
Eva straightened her posture as she greeted the woman with, "Hello, Mother."
Lena Sibley grinned at this present turn of a events. "Well, my darling, you truly must be reacting the brink of desperation if you have summoned me." She looked around at the room in amusement, "This is no doubt the future."
"The time period doesn't matter. I have questions and you are going to answer them." Eva was quite firm in her words and made sure to summon her mother far enough back so certain events hadn't happened to her yet.
Lena pouted a little. "My sweet darling, you are not more powerful than I. I would watch the tone in which you choose to speak." She tilted her head a little in curiosity. "But I do wonder, what is it that you wish to know?"
Eva hoped that she would not end up regretting this decision and asked, "How does one track a Triskele Jumper?"
Lena's face hardened at the question and spat at the floor in disgust. "How dare you speak of such a disgusting creature. What could you possibly want with them?"
"A Triskele Jumper attacked and left a message." Eva showed Lena the Triskele Athame for proof. "I don't know when they will attack next. You know more about the Triskelion Coven than anyone else I know. How do you track them?" Eva was desperate to ask her mother but she knew the risks, despite summoning her mother from a time further back than the events that truly caused Lena to unravel.
Lena stepped forward only to be blocked by a forcefield caused by the protection crystals. "Interesting," was her reply for not only the Athame but the crystals. She was intrigued by her daughter's predicament and decided to aide her, even if it was just slightly. "You will need that Athame to scry for them. You must hang the scrying crystal from the bottom of an hourglass with the Athame in your hand. The hourglass will allow you to track them through time and while it may give you their location, it will not give the time in which they are. I am afraid you will need to figure this out for yourself, my darling."
Eva needed more than this but she knew she wasn't going to get it. If Lena was going to share more than she would have done so already. No, Eva knew when to stop when it came ton her mother and that moment had come. "Thank you, mother."
"You will owe me a favor in the future. You may not know why when I collect, but one day I will. My knowledge comes at a price." Lena smirked at her daughter just as the spell ended and she disappeared into a waft of smoke once again.
Eva sighed heavily after hearing her mother's words and didn't voice her thought aloud until Lena had gone, "You already have."
Eva attempted the scrying method Lena had given her later that night. She sat in the middle of a circle of candles with a map laid out in front of her. With the scrying crystal hanging from the hourglass and the Athame in her hand, she began the scrying. The crystal spun around and around the map at a slow pace until it moved closer to the east coast of the US map and suddenly it started spinning faster and faster until the crystal landed on Massachusetts. More importantly it landed on Salem, Massachusetts.
Eva gasped at this revelation and quickly pulled out her phone to call Felix, True, she didn't know what year the Triskele Jumper was in but just in case it wasn't a coincidence, Eva had to give them a head's up.
It wasn't long before Felix answered and she didn't even bother with a greeting before getting right to the point. "Felix, I was able to track the Jumper's location but not the year. Whenever they are, they're in Salem so be careful and make sure Mara doesn't die."
"The Jumper didn't kill her before so why would they kill her now?" Felix asked in a hushed tone as he moved from one end of the Occult shop where he presently was to the other.
"Maybe they were just surprised before, but now they know she's pregnant and they know if a pregnant Immortal dies enough then the children will be Triskele. We have to be prepared for anything." Eva began putting out the candles as she spoke.
"I'll protect her no matter what, Eva. You know that." He paused for a moment before adding in, "Speaking of being prepared, the dress has been picked out and we're just waiting for the Priestess to finish her ritual before giving Mara her lesson."
Eva was relieved for more reasons than one to hear this. "And she believes this is preparation for the festival at the end of the month, correct?"
"It made sense, so yeah." Felix got quiet after saying that.
Eva could easily read into the silence. "This isn't going to change anything, Felix. The timelines are meeting, that's all." She was about to say some more but there was a knock at the Loft's door. "Now who could that be? I'll check in later, and don't worry." Eva ended the call on her cellphone and went to answer the door, still with a couple candles in her hand.
When Eva answered the door she was once again surprised by Cole's presence there. "Hi, uh, I thought we were meeting at Piper's club?"
Cole feigned confusion, saying, "We were? I thought I was to pick you up here, my mistake." He pointed to the candles in her hand. "Was there a blackout I missed?"
Eva set the candles aside and chuckled. "Uh, no, I just like candles." She couldn't believe how lame that was and how lame she always happened to be when Cole was around. "Since you're here if you'd like to come in and don't mind waiting for a few minutes I can get ready."
"Don't mind at all," Cole smiled and entered the Loft, noting the leftovers of a candle circle in the corner of the room.
Eva was about to offer him a drink when she heard Prue and Phoebe calling out for Felix through the open Doorway. Of course to anyone else the Doorway looked like a closet and no one besides the residences of where the Doorways connect would be able to hear anything through it either. Still, Eva had to come up with something quick to distract Cole so she could go check in on the Sisters.
Cole noticed a change in Eva and asked, "Everything alright?"
Eva didn't click that Cole had spoken to her right off so her reply came out as, "Huh? What? No, yes, I'm fine. Help yourself in the kitchen for a drink or something and I'll changed." She turned him away from the Doorway and towards the kitchen before making it out like she was heading to her room, but quickly darted through the Doorway instead.
Eva found Prue and Phoebe in one of the bedrooms acting like and talking like they were drunk or something. "What did you two do?"
Phoebe turned around so quickly she almost fell and pouted when she saw Eva standing there. "You're not Felix," she whined. "We wanted Felix."
"Felix is handling some Coven business with Mara so you're stuck with me, now what happened?" Eva crossed her arms and looked at the pair of them with a raised brow.
"Ohhhh," Prue laughed in a childlike manner. "She's got her mom face on."
Phoebe shushed Prue before laughing as well but Eva's expression soon made her tell her what happened. "We got hit with some Fairy Dust so now we can see Fairies and Trolls and we need help to save little Kate and the Fairy princess she is protecting."
Prue nodded repeatedly to confirm that what Phoebe was saying was true.
Eva opened her mouth to reply to that but closed it only to open it again to say, "That's a first. I'll, uhm, I'll go check the Tome to see if there's a spell that will help you without having whatever side effect this is. Just…stay here."
"We can't stay here!" Phoebe replied frantically. "We have to protect the key and help Kate by midnight!"
"And I will help you with that, but you're no good to anyone acting like a couple of kids." Eva left the bedroom and went down the hall back to the Doorway and had just barely walked through it when she heard the sisters scream. "Now what?"
Eva darted back into the Manor and up to Attic to find Prue and Phoebe looking terrified and the Book on the floor. "What happened? Did the Trolls attack?"
"There was a very big, very scary Demon who wanted the Book." Phoebe couldn't get over how big and scary that Demon was.
Okay, Eva wasn't expecting that. "If there's a Demon problem too then you both need to stop acting like kids even more than before." She once again went back through the Doorway and when she stepped out into the Loft, she almost walked right into Cole.
Cole acted startled by her sudden presence then chuckled, "Did you just come out of the closet?"
Eva awkwardly laughed in reply, "It wouldn't be the first time." At his confused expression she quickly added in, "Cole, I'm really sorry, but can we do this another time? Something unexpectedly came up that I need to deal with." So Cole couldn't really argue with her, she guided him back to the door to leave.
Cole was a bit reluctant to go and found himself asking, "Is everything alright? Is it Mara?" His voice held more concern than it should have.
Eva caught that and stopped walking so she could process why he said it like that, but couldn't come up with anything. "Mara is fine. It's kind of you to think of her." Eva opened the door for Cole to leave. "I really am sorry. Raincheck?"
Cole nodded with a smile. "Raincheck."
She waved as he left the Loft then quickly closed and locked the door so she could grab the Tome and dart back through the Doorway. Once back in the Manor she found the sisters at the bottom of the stairs. "There should be a joke in here somewhere."
After finding nothing in the Tome it was decided that this wasn't something a Sibley needed to be a part of so the Charmed Ones were going to take care of it themselves – that is if they were able to get Piper on board since she was still on strike. Eva made it clear, however, that if they needed her for anything that she was just a phone call away.
That phone call never arrived because P3 had it all under control – after a minor hiccup – and what was even better was Piper showed great courage and faith so the Elders were allowing Leo to come back and give them a chance to prove their relationship would work. Perhaps the rocky road Piper and Mara's relationship was on would smooth out now.
But that wasn't the rocky road any of them should have been focused upon because standing in a bedroom of an Immortal family in Salem stood a hooded figure looking down upon the sleeping Mara. This person reached out their black gloved hand and carefully moved some hair out of Mara's face before leading down to kiss the top of their head. When they stood up, they returned the Triskele pendant hanging from around their neck to the inside of their shirt and turned around to disappear in vortex-like portal.
A moment later Mara awoke with a gasp and quickly turned on the lamp next to the bed and looked around the room. She couldn't explain why she was jolted awake but there was a moment where she felt…something and it unnerved her to not know what that something was.
