"Sister Sheshe! You scared me there." The redhead was standing behind her in a matching red bath robe.
"What are you even doing up this late? Don't you know that Mikeru has that big job for us in the morn… Hey, what's that on the desk?" Sheshe took the piece of paper and scanned over it in confusion. "Mimi, what the heck is all this?"
"If I tell you, can we go outside? I want to tell you first." Mimi approached this sheepishly. She was not sure how Sheshe would react to this revelation. Sheshe agreed and they left their bedroom. As they walked past the other living quarters, a disgruntled Lady Bat came out.
"Hey, what's with the noise? Don't you two know what time it is?" Mimi froze at this accusation.
"Umm, I…"
"Hey Lady Bat, why don't you return to bed?! It's none of your business why we're up!" Sheshe jumped in to defend her younger sister.
"Whatever." Not wanting to start an argument at this time of night, Lady Bat let out an irritated sigh as he returned to his bed. Once the sisters were outside, Mimi explained everything to Sheshe.
"So that's what the angel told you, am I right?"
"Yes. I tried to write it all down on that piece of paper you took." Sheshe then took the crumpled paper from her bath robe pocket.
"I mean, it's not that I don't understand what you were told. How do you think I was able to quote the Bible earlier?" To Mimi's surprise, Sheshe took a pocket-sized Gideon Bible out of her pocket. Only, it wasn't just any pocket-sized Gideon Bible. "This was Pastor Max's travel Bible. According to the dossier we had on him, he's had this since he was ten years old. Took it everywhere with him, even places like this." Mimi was surprised that Sheshe would do this.
"No, what I don't understand is… well, why you of all people, Mimi? Have we not dedicated our lives to evil works? Why would this angel of God want you to warn people about death and Hell?"
"You know, Sheshe, I'm not even sure why I was chosen for this either. It's just that what I saw with what Gaito and the Dark Lovers were being subjected to was so horrific…"
"Those guys? What was being done to them, Mimi?" Mimi whispered to Sheshe was she saw there. Sheshe's eyebrows raised in shock.
"Wow, just wow." Even Sheshe was disgusted by that level of depravity. "So they warned you directly about going to Hell, right? I thought Hell was like this one big party where you could do whatever you wanted."
"Oh no, Sister Sheshe. Hell is a terrible place, where people are eternally separated from God, in addition to being punished with eternal destruction (2 Thessalonians 1:9), all while being reminded of the bad things they did while they were living. That's what the angel told me, and what I saw with the five; in fact, he said that because they refuse the free gift of salvation and align themselves with sin, they're no different than the demons who already live there. In fact, the angel told me that if we died this instant, we would go there as well."
Sheshe was still trying to figure out why Mimi received this information in the dream. The two sisters may be evil, but they're not stupid. Nonetheless, Sheshe's next statement surprises Mimi.
"Mimi, if what you are claiming is all true, then we need to find someone who can help us figure this out. We need to go up to, the surface."
"But Sheshe, what about our work duties today? Won't Mikeru be mad that we will be AWOL?"
"Don't worry, I'll say we came down with something and we'll use our sick day to sneak out. Besides, Mikeru will probably have one of his lesser servants do the work. They always whine about having 'nothing to do,' so they should thank us. I don't know how long we'll be up there for, so pack whatever we need."
Mimi nodded and obliged. Thankfully, they didn't need much, so everything they brought fit into their pockets, as was the life of a pair of mercenaries on the run. With the set of extra linens from their closet, they made 'decoys' that were hidden under their sheets. If anyone looks for them the next day, they'll be long gone. Again. Sheshe notifies Mikeru of their 'illness' and they are granted a sick day. By mid-morning, Sheshe and Mimi carry out their escape as everyone else is busy at their work; they can't just leave normally if they're 'sick.'
"We can just escape out that window. As long as none of the patrols see us leave, we'll be good. Mimi, do you have all our things?"
"Got them, Sheshe."
"Good. The area seems to be clear, so we need to act fast." Once the window was opened, the sisters silently swam out and away from Mikeru's castle. Most of the guards weren't all that bright, so the one that did spot them thought it was a fish. Once they were far enough away, they began to plan for their trip to the surface.
"Ok, so we'll transform into our human versions. That way, we go undetected by the people there. According to my GPS, the shore of Honolulu is only 5 more miles that way. Once we're there, we'll go to the Pearl Pier Hotel…"
"The Pearl Pier Hotel?! Isn't that where… they are?" Mimi was surprised by this. Would they really need to reach out to their enemies for help?
"I know that's where the mermaids work! But if we maintain our disguises, they hopefully won't know that it's us."
"How true!"
"I know the address of the hotel. Just play it cool and it'll work."
