I noticed that there is some confusion regarding how Yashan was able to get the teigus of Kurome's undead puppets. So allow me to explain to clear things up. In the manga, Wave was able to claim two teigus. The first is his Grand Chariot and the second is Run's Masterma. Wave was able to claim the teigu despite Run being in a reanimated state. So I figured that it would be possible for Yashan to claim the teigus of the reanimated Wave and Run.
For what Yashan plans to do with those three teigus. That's a major secret, but it will be revealed in time.
Another thing, Akame is more than prepared to kill Kurome in this story like in the manga and anime. But she still cares a lot about her sister. So Raiden gave Akame a chance to settle things with Kurome while making sure that she would be no threat to the Revolutionary Army. Part of the terms for Akame to be part of Night Raid is that the Revolutionary Army do nothing against Kurome as long as she is no threat to the them. Thanks to Raiden, Akame was able to save her sister and prevent her from being a threat. Though Kurome lost the use of her legs. Akame is still happy with the outcome, since she still has her sister.
Chapter 38 Kill the Remembrance
(Revolutionary Army HQ)
It took Raiden, Tatsumi, and Akame a good deal of time to return to the Revolutionary Army HQ. With Kurome in tow and doing the best they can to make sure that they weren't followed. Once they arrived, they knew full well that they would need to explain themselves to Najenda. After they explained the situation, Najenda took everything in silence while processing everything she knows. Several seconds have passed, before Najenda spoke to break the tension in the air.
"Under normal circumstances, I would have you all punished for carelessly taking maters into your own hands. However, these aren't normal circumstances that the three of you found yourselves in." Najenda told the trio in front of her
"What do you mean boss?" Tatsumi asked Najenda in a curious tone
"The conditions for Akame to join us is for her to have complete freedom to handle Kurome at her discretion. So her allowing you and Raiden to accompany her is acceptable since its what she wishes." Najenda told Tatsumi before she continued to speak
"Though what surprises me is that one of you managed to sneak in and steal one of the syringes. So I can't help but voice my curiosity at who would be capable of such a feat. Especially since I would have something like that well hidden." Najenda said before Raiden spoke up
"It was me boss, after I made it clear to Akame that we can subdue her sister without killing her. I decided to go and get the syringe in secret while you were at a different meeting. But you can put the blame on me, Akame didn't want me to the syringe." Raiden told Najenda
"I supposed that in a way, this may have been a good thing. When you choose to look at it from a different perspective. We needed to know how effective the syringe would be if we choose to use them. Though I wish you'd have told me what you were going to do." Najenda told Raiden
"I was short on time and I didn't want to wait for a discussion. Besides, I was in the mindset that its better to ask for forgiveness than permission." Raiden told Najenda
"I supposed so, now we know for certain that it works. Though it's a bit regrettable that we're down to one. That means we have to be certain on who to use it on. Either Esdeath or Vamp. The choice of who we use the last syringe on can very easily turn the tide of this war." Najenda told the three of them before having a thoughtful look on her face
"Which reminds me, where is Kurome?" Tatsumi asked
"She was brought to the medics almost as soon as we arrived. She fell asleep by the time we got back, but precautions are being taken. Thanks to the syringe that she was given, Kurome no longer poses a threat to us. Without the use of her legs and the loss of her teigu, she can't do anything against us." Akaume explained to Tatsumi
"Which reminds me, it was to my understanding that the syringe would only take care of the enhancements in her body such as the drugs. How is it that she lost the use of her legs?" Najenda asked Raiden
"The syringe is designed to take care of all enhancements that the body has. Which obviously includes both nanomachines and enhancement drugs. The contents of the syringe were able to destroy all of those enhancements. But because Kurome has been taking the drugs for years. Her body has been heavily reliant on it and with the enhancements in her body destroyed. She lost a lot of her strength. Which includes the use of her legs. When you think about it Boss this works both ways. Akame made it clear that she's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Kurome is no longer a threat. Me on the other hand wasn't going to allow her to kill a kid. Fortunately, the syringe we got from Maverick gave both of us a win and worked better than we hoped. All of the enhancements in her body is destroyed and it left her crippled. Akame still has her sister and she's no longer a threat." Raiden explained to Najenda
"I supposed when you put it that way, everything that happened worked out for many parties involved. But this still leaves us with one of the syringes. No matter who we use it on, we're going to have to fight either Vamp or Esdeath directly. The both of them having nanomachines isn't going to make things easier either." Najenda said voicing her thoughts on the situation
"Boss, you know that I'm committed to fighting those two. I've been getting better with both of my teigus and I'm still a lot stronger than I look." Raiden said to Najenda
"Don't misunderstand my tone Raiden. I'm just acknowledging our options moving forward. Still, losing three teigus may cause us some problems in the long run." Najenda said in a slightly worried tone
"I doubt we need to worry too much about that boss. Despite Kurome's heavy use of the enhancement drugs. She was still a highly skilled solider of the Empire. I highly doubt that the Empire will be able to find someone more suitable than Kurome in such a short amount of time." Akame told Najenda
"I agree, even if they randomly pick someone to claim either of the three teigus. Their skills won't be developed enough for them to as skilled as the previous owners. If we fight them, we will no doubt prove to be superior. Because of our past experience with them and overall better skills." Najenda told the three of them
"What will we do now boss?" Tatsumi asked Najenda causing her to think for a moment
"Because of several recent developments, we're going to be returning to our hideout tomorrow at dawn. It was a significant victory for us when you managed to kill Saeke. So we don't have to worry about being tracked down. I just have to get certain details ironed out with the leaders of the rebellion." Najenda answered Tatsumi
"What about Kurome, she's not a threat and I doubt she'll be in a position to cause problems for us?" Raiden asked Najenda
"Once she wakes up, the medics will give her an examination. I doubt we'll be able to do anything to restore the use of her legs. But it'll really mean she'll require around the clock attendance. She'll be questioned for obvious reasons, but that's about it." Najenda answered Raiden causing him to have an idea
"Boss, how about they release her into our custody?" Raiden suggested to Najenda before continuing
"After the interrogation, it'll be hard to decide on what to do with her. Since Hal and Chelsea aren't in a combatant position. They can keep an eye on her and make sure she stays out of trouble. Also with her being paraplegic and without her teigu. She won't be in a position to cause problems for us. It'll also give Akame a chance to bond with Kurome. Raiden said causing Najenda to have a thoughtful look on her face before she spoke up
"I'll give your idea some thought Raiden. But for now all of us should get some rest. We're leaving at dawn tomorrow, so we're going to need to be well rested if there ae some soldiers guarding the hideout." Najenda said before she dismissed everyone
(The Imperial Graveyard)
After returning to the Palace, Yashan informed General Esdeath of everything that happened. Though the General was prepared for the worst regarding the clash between the sisters. She didn't expect to hear news of Saeke meeting his end as well. In hindsight, Esdeath is glad to have agreed to have Yashan watch and observe in case Night Raid would try anything sneaky. It pleased the General to know that Akame kept the fight between her and Kurome. But it surprised her when she learned that the members of Night Raid did something that cost Kurome the use of her legs. Making her completely useless in the General's eyes. Despite losing Kurome and her two puppets, Yashan was able to recover three teigus.
"My Jaegers and my Three Beasts. All of you have fallen in battle because you were weak. But do not fret, I shall dedicate the upcoming battle to your memory." General Esdeath said before she proceeded to place flowers on each of the graves
"It is quite a pleasant sight to see a General mourn the fallen." Vamp said getting General Esdeath's attention
"Vamp, I see that you have returned from your recent excursion for the Empire. Have you been updated on everything that happened recently?" General Esdeath asked the veteran soldier
"Yes I have, Yashan has told me everything of significance that has happened recently. I apologize for not being able to arrive sooner. If I had, I would have been able to prevent us from suffering such losses." Vamp told the General
"Do not worry Vamp, it was their weakness that allowed their failures in the first place. As it stands, the only ones who can hold their own against Night Raid are us and Yashan." Esdeath told Vamp
"Which reminds me, how are things progressing regarding the plans for the collaboration?" Vamp asked
"Everything is progressing smoothly in terms of gathering the resources. The Shadow Squad is keeping a close eye on Syura to make sure he doesn't mess everything up. Even thought the Wild Hunt is finished, Dorothea has made significant progress on the Empire's secret weapon. From everything Prime Minister Honest tells me, we might be able to go through with the collaboration even sooner than we thought." General Esdeath told Vamp
"What about the threat regarding the rebels? Even if their able to learn anything from Kurome, can they do anything to hinder things for us?" Vamp asked the General
"Don't worry about that Vamp. Even if those Rebels do learn anything, its too late for them to disrupt things. The best option they'll have is for them to attack us with the entirety of their army. But there's almost nobody among the rebels who can pose a threat to us. Night Raid on the other hand is a different matter entirely. Some of them are able to fight us but they aren't a real threat to us." General Esdeath said before she continued to explain to Vamp
"The ones from Night Raid who are capable of killing us are Tatsumi, Akame, and last but not least Raiden. Those three are the only ones who poses a real threat to us, so we need to be very cautious regarding those three." General Esdeath finished explaining to Vamp
"We must take as many defensive measures as we can. My queen has informed me that the Prime Minister has been dealing with a growing number of traitors within the Empire. If the rebels attack us while there's so much internal problems going on. I fear that it will cause problems with the chain of command and preparations regarding the army. Not to mention it will have a negative impact regarding the collaboration." Vamp explained to the General causing her to lightly chuckle
"No need to worry about something like that Vamp. I've already taken the internal problems into account and I've come up with a solution. If those rebels dare to try anything against us. They will be in for a real surprise once they bring their armies, so let them do as they please. All it means is that the climactic battle will be a true test of strength from both sides. I look forward to the upcoming clash we'll have against my dear Tatsumi, the red-eye killer Akame, and Jack the Ripper himself Raiden." General Esdeath told Vamp in an excited tone. Unknown to the both of them, Yashan was hidden nearby and used her enhanced hearing to listen to the exchange between Esdeath and Vamp. After a few seconds Yashan left to tend to her own business.
"With Saeke dead, I'm all that's left of the Savijas. Since I know where the Empire store their teigu. It'll only be a matter of time before its time for me to act. All I need is Raiden's blood and I'll be set. Thanks to my ability, Raiden's blood dilution won't pose a problem. Since the cybernetic blood still contains his DNA." Yashan thought to herself as she was leaving.
(The Danger Beast Forest)
The very moment it was dawn, Raiden and the other members of Night Raid left to return to their Hideout. Among them are Janey, who's being carried by Blade Wolf. While Kurome herself is confined to a wheelchair. When someone takes a quick look at Kurome, it is clear that she's awake and conscious. But she has a depressed and crestfallen look on her face. Given the circumstances, its easy to understand why. Kurome has lost everything and as a result doesn't have a reason to live. Making things worse is that she has lost both her teigu and the use of her legs. So she's no longer able to fight even if she wants to. Kurome face gives the impression that she's waiting for the killing blow.
"Alright everyone, I've done a quick survey of the area. There are some soldiers guarding the area of the Hideout. Fortunately for us it's a small number of them so we can deal with them easily. But we need a plan in case the Capital needs a situation update." Leone said to everyone after doing a scout of the area
"Since Saeke has been dealt with, we shouldn't have any problems with keeping track of intruders. Besides, with the upcoming collaboration with the people from Raiden's home. I doubt their going to want to send much soldiers to us." Najenda quickly explained to everyone
"What if Esdeath decided to come for us herself?" Jade asked
"I've been informed from the spies before we left that Esdeath and Vamp has been ordered to stay within the Capital. I doubt she's going to want come after us. Because she knows that doing so could put whatever remaining significant forces the Empire has at risk of death. Especially since the collaboration would b at risk as well." Najenda explained to Jade
"That does make sense, the Empire is getting heavily involved in something that's completely foreign to them. So if they want to maintain their position of power. Then its going to require their military power to be at its peak. Which includes Esdeath staying alive. As well as that monster Vamp." Hal said with Akame noticing the anger Hal has when he mentioned Vamp.
"So it looks like for the time being we'll be safe from the Empire and Esdeath. Even if they expect an update in the Capital. The spies within the Capital should be able to draw up a false report. Though given everything that's going on, I doubt they would care. Especially since the Revolutionary's Army would attack soon." Lubbock said voicing his thoughts on the situation
"Leone, you and Lubbock will go and reclaim our home." Najenda ordered with the two nodding in agreement
(Moments Later)
After Leone and Lubbock left to go and deal with the guards that were guarding the Hideout. It took almost an hour for them to return to give the all clear. Truth be told, it took roughly 30 minutes for all the guards to be dealt with swiftly and effectively. But the extra time was needed so they can be thorough in cases there are any surprises hidden. After everything got settled, everyone returned made themselves comfortable.
"AAAHHHHH, it feels good to be back home where we belong." Leone said in a satisfied and relaxed tone to everyone after entering.
"It looks like the soldiers didn't mess with anything inside here. I guess they figured that there would be no point." Lubbock said after doing a quick look of the hideout
"They probably spent time looking for the van and supplies that we brought from Maverick. Fortunately, I made sure to hide the van underground thanks to Gaia's Grip." Raiden told everyone before he turned to speak to Akame
"Once all of us gets settled in, I'll give you the sword I brought. Don't worry it'll be yours to keep no strings attached." Raiden told Akame
"Thank you Raiden." Akame said in a grateful tone
"Seeing as though we have no more assignments. All of you are to get settled in and rest as much as possible. Your all welcomed to train, because the next time we act. It will be the big day when the entire Revolutionary Army comes march towards the Capital." Najenda said to everyone
"Which reminds me, what will we do with Janey and Kurome?" Chelsea asked in a curious tone causing everyone to look at the pair.
"Chelsea, your going to stay in the hideout with Hal once the march begins. Since your teigu won't be of much use when the time comes. Also it'll be helpful since you'll be able to watch over Janey and keep an eye on Kurome." Najenda briefly explained to everyone
"Would that be fine Janey?" Raiden asked Janey in a concerned tone
"Its fine Jack, I know that all of you do some work for the Revolutionary Army." Janey responded causing Kurome to chuckle getting everyone's attention
"Hehehehe, so Jack is your real name. Now I see why the General sometimes refer to you as Jack the Ripper." Kurome said in a low yet slightly despondent tone
"That nickname is attached to a lot of unpleasant memories about my life Kurome. So you'll understand why I'm not fond of that fucking General saying it casually." Raiden said to Kurome
"I assume you've been paying attention to our entire conversation? Even the part about Chelsea keeping an eye on you." Najenda told Kurome while mentally on guard
"I'm fully aware of your conversation. Rest assured you don't have anything to worry about regarding me. As I'm sure your medics can confirm, I can no longer use my legs. Along with the loss of my teigu, I can't fight or run even if I want to. I suppose the more that I think about it. I'm starting to realize how tired I am of everything." Kurome told everyone
"Which is why I insisted on making sure you lived Kurome. Akame was prepared to kill you, but from everything I know and have seen. I hate the idea of killing kids, especially if I can avoid it if possible." Raiden told Kurome causing her to have a curious look at the cyborg
"Then that begs the question, what have you experienced in your life for you to have your beliefs?" Kurome asked causing some people in the room to have a bothered look while others are confused.
"I've experienced enough to know that you needed to get out of that life." Raiden said before Najenda spoke up
"Chelsea, Hal, make sure to keep an eye on Kurome. Everyone get settled and do as you please." Najenda said before her and everyone else tended to their own business.
(Underground Tunnels)
After everyone got settled and left, Raiden brought Akame to the underground area that he made with the glove teigu. The both of them knows that it won't be long until the Revolutionary Army comes and make the march towards the Capital. So it was crucial for Akame to not only get a weapon, but to get as much training done as possible. It would be easy enough to get any katana for Akame. But the young assassin deserved a special katana that was worthy of her. While getting the supplies, Raiden made sure to get a special sword that could be useful against Vamp and his nanomachines. Though Vamp's durability nanomachines is not as durable as Armstrong's. It's always helpful to be prepared and since Akame no longer has her teigu. Raiden figured that she was more than worthy to have the sword. Since Raiden's own HF-Blade would be more than enough to serve its purpose.
"Raiden, I appreciate you going out of your way to give me a special sword. But my skills will be more than enough if I have just any sword." Akame told Raiden while they were walking through the tunnel
"I know Akame, but seeing as though all of us are facing deadly threats from the Empire. Which includes Esdeath, Vamp, and Yashan. You need to have the best weapon you can get that can match either teigus or nanomachines. The sword I have in mind is not only able to give you a chance against these threats. Its also a sword that's worthy of you, similar to your teigu now that I think about it." Raiden explained to Akame as the pair was walking. After a few seconds, the both of them arrived at the van that held the weapon.
"Akame, I was trained as a soldier. But I was self-taught in terms of being able to use a sword. I got better with time and a lot of practice. You were trained as an assassin and that involves being able to use a sword. The previous owner of the sword I'm about to give you was trained as a swordsman. It wasn't easy killing him, but I do know that if he were still alive today. He would admit that your able to bring out his sword's full potential and wouldn't mind me giving it to you." Raiden explained to Akame before he proceeded to open the van and looked for something.
After a few seconds, Raiden found the case and proceeded to bring it out. After bringing out the case, he presented it to Akame before he proceeded to open it. After the case was opened, both Akame and Raiden saw a katana inside its sheath. Raiden proceeded to grab the weapon and drew the sword. The sword is a red katana that is cackling some electricity. Though this is the first time Akame is seeing the sword. She can tell that it is of excellent quality with a good deal of history behind it.
"Akame, I heard about your VR fight with Jetstream Sam. After I managed to kill him, I took his sword and used it to kill Armstrong. It would be a shame for me to throw it away. So given the circumstances, I figured that it would be best if I give you this sword. The name if this sword is called Murasama. Though the sword has been modified to deal with current threats. Make no mistake that this sword has a lot of history behind it. It's fitting when you stop to think about it. The red sword for the red eye killer." Raiden explained before he proceeded to return the sword to the sheath and gave it to Akame
"Thank you Raiden, you gave me a sword of exceptional quality and saved my sister while preventing her from being a threat." Akame said in a grateful tone as she grabbed the sword. Just by holding the sword, Akame was able to feel the significance that was within the sword. A part of Akame hopes that she's able to live up to the responsibility and duty that was entrusted to her. But for now, the best she can do is proceed as best as she can with what she knows.
"You go topside and put that sword through its paces. So you can get used to how the sword feels and handles. I'll bring a few things from the van but it won't take me too long." Raiden told Akame with her nodding in understanding
(Night Raid's Hideout)
Once everything is settled with everyone after returning to the Hideout. Leone sat down and quickly found herself bored. She spent a good deal of time training as much as she could. But there was only so much training she could do before she decided to call it quits for the moment. While trying to think of a way to pass the time. She saw Hal working on Blade Wolf and remembered the conversation Raiden had with Akame. Thinking about this had gotten an idea in Leone's head and it caused her to approach Hal. Once she got close to the scientist. She pressed her breast against Hal's head in a teasing way. Causing the good-natured scientist to be nervous.
"Uh uh uh, may I ask what your doing Leone?" Hal asked in a nervous tone while stuttering at the pair that pressed against his head
"Trying to find a way to ease my boredom. You wouldn't happen to have any ideas would you?" Leone asked in a teasing and curious tone
"Um . . . no I'm just busy with doing some maintenance on Wolf. That last battle didn't damage him too badly and thanks to the supplies that was hidden by Raiden. I was able to do some good maintenance work on Wolf and he's good as new." Hal said while working on Wolf
"Then would wolf mind having some fun with me? I'm curious to see what he does for fun." Leone asked in a teasing tone
"Leone, I do not possess the understanding of what you would perceive as fun. From what I was informed, you are in a polite tone a heavy drinker and a tease." Wolf said causing Hal to chuckle and Leone to look annoyed for a second.
"Fine, I'll just bug you guys for a while. That'll be plenty of fun for me." Leone said before she remembered the current situation
"Hal, the other day I heard Raiden talk to Akame and heard something interesting. Raiden told Akame that the only thing that's left of his body is his head and spine. Is that true?" Leone asked causing Hal to have a nervous look. After the nervous look, he took a deep breath before speaking.
"Looks like you heard about that huh?" Hal said causing Leone to nod in agreement before Hal spoke further
"Don't get the wrong idea Leone, the situation about Raiden's body was not of his choosing. A long time ago, there were some people that Raiden, Snake, and me were fighting against. From what I know, Raiden was captured and they did some experiments on him. Raiden having a metallic body with the only thing that's left is his head and spine were the results of that experiment." Hal briefly explained to Leone
"Is Raiden the only one who has a body like his?" Leone asked
"To the best of my knowledge not by a long shot. I've seen records of people having extensive cybernetic augmentations for a variety of reasons. Either to increase the chances of success for a mission. Or to make themselves a lot stronger for mercenary work." Hal told Leone
"Do a lot of people treat Raiden any differently regarding his situation?" Leone asked
"Yeah and its something that just gets worse over time. Raiden did go through a few procedures to make himself look like a normal human. But it wasn't exactly perfect and people figured it out very quickly. It's similar to Tatsumi's mutation now that I think about it." Hal said causing Leone to think for a second
"You don't seem to be too bothered by it." Leone told Hal after noticing his calm demeanor
"Well if you've seen the things I have, you'll see that the stuff involving Raiden's body doesn't bother me that much. Though what my friend Solid Snake went through. Is an entirely different story altogether. Honestly, it still makes me want to tear up thinking about it. Everything Snake went through despite . . . . you know what I'll talk about that later. Its already a long and complicated story and I don't want all of us to get depressed." Hal told Leone causing her to get an idea
"You know Hal, from your conversations with Boss. We have a good idea about the kind of people Snake fought against. But we never really saw anyone that Raiden had to fight. Akame and Tatsumi knows but it would be nice if the rest of us saw something." Leone told Hal causing Wolf to speak up
"I still have a recording of one of Raiden's fights against a significant threat. If you are interested, I will present the recording to everyone. As long as we have Raiden's permission." Wolf suggested to Leone causing the blonde brawler to have a large smile
"So as long as I get Raiden's permission, we can all enjoy this viewing?" Leone asked quickly figuring out Wolf's answer
"Affirmative." Wolf answered before Leone quickly left to go catch up to Raiden
(The Imperial Palace)
After the General has touched base with Vamp and paid her respects to her fallen subordinates. Esdeath found herself walking the halls of the palace. Truth be told, she's not entirely disappointed about Kurome being abducted. Because she knew that her heavy reliance on the enhancement drugs would be her downfall sooner or later. If anything Kurome being captured and beaten is a result of her being weak. Though now, she's excited about the upcoming clash with the enemies of the Empire. Which includes the chance to reclaim her beloved Tatsumi once and for all and to be able to fight against Raiden. An individual who she sees as a worthy challenge despite his physical alterations.
"I see that your deep in thought about a few things General." Yashan told Esdeath who was standing as if she was waiting on the General
"I'm merely thinking about those that have fallen and the excitement that the collaboration with World Marshal will bring." General Esdeath told Yashan
"It is quite an exciting prospect isn't it? If all goes well, then the future will have many endeavors that will no doubt change the course of history. But we mustn't let down our guard. There is still ample time for our enemies to try something that can disrupt things for us." Yashan warned the powerful General causing her to have a chuckle
"Don't worry Yashan, I have something very special planned in case the Rebels try anything. In fact, I've spent the past few days preparing for my little surprise. Though I am aware of the possibility that anything can happen in battle. Which in many ways adds to the excitement that it brings." The General briefly explained to Yashan
"Speaking of the Rebels and the unexpected possibilities. I have a proposition that I would like to run by you." Yashan said that's gotten Esdeath's attention
"What kind of proposition did you have in mind?" General Esdeath asked in a curious tone
"First I would like to ask you something. Though you, me, and Vamp plan to fight against the Rebels, Night Raid, as well as Raiden. There is still a chance that the enemy could succeed against the Empire. If that happens and you somehow live, what do you plan to do?" Yashan asked the General
"Should the Empire fall, I plan to start a new war. I have always been fascinated by what the potential of war. Especially for those that are truly strong. My ambitions is as simple as that." The General answered the PMC Mercenary
"Then you and I have similar ambitions for our long-term goals. So allow me to explain my proposition and I can assure you that it will in no way interfere with your current duties as General." Yashan said before she started to explain her proposal to the General
(Night Raid's Hideout)
It was easy for Leone to convince Raiden to approve the viewing of one of his fights through the eyes of Blade Wolf. The challenge was which one to choose from. Wolf and Hal explained that Wolf has seen a moderate number of Raiden's fights. But after a while, it was agreed that everyone would see one of Raiden's most challenging yet unbelievable fights. Which was the fight against Senator Armstrong. After Janey went to bed, the collective viewing started and even Kurome was in attendance.
Once the viewing started, everyone saw the fight against the Senator and they were all speechless. From Raiden's encounter against the giant Metal Gear EXCELSUS. To the personal confrontation against the Senator himself. Everyone was amazed at the type of power that Raiden displayed. But they also saw the overwhelming force that Raiden was up against. Even Akame and Kurome were amazed at how intense the fight was and came to a realization that everyone else shared. That in terms of raw power alone, Raiden was truly holding back a lot. Once the viewing ended after Raiden succeeded in killing the powerful Senator. Everyone started to speak up at what was seen.
"That was incredible, I knew you were strong Raiden but . . . . DAMN!" Leone said excitedly to Raiden
"I still can't believe what I saw, Raiden lifted up something that was the size of a building and chopped that thing down. I can't even think of a Danger Beast or teigu that can do something like that." Lubbock said showing some level of excitement at what he'd saw with everyone
"I have to admit, it was pretty awesome seeing Raiden fight that guy like that. Especially the way they fought against each other like that. Just seeing it is so unreal as it was exciting." Tatsumi said in an impressed tone
"That Armstrong guy is no joke either. I can see him getting along real well with General Budo. But in a fight, that guy would win hands down. But I wonder how he would do against Esdeath?" Jade asked out loud to everyone
"If Esdeath had trouble fighting me, then she would stand no chance against Armstrong. The guy is as durable as he is strong and if it wasn't for Murasama. Then I would have had a much harder time against him." Raiden answered causing Akame to look at her new sword
"I see much greater significance this sword has now." Akame stated causing Najenda to take a quick look
"Raiden, the recording said that it wasn't your sword. Are you sure its fine giving it to Akame so easily?" Najenda asked in a curious tone
"Sam's not around to argue otherwise. Besides, if I use it I doubt I would be able to bring out its full potential. Akame is honestly better suited to wield that sword due to its history and significance and history. Besides, I already have a sword of my own and its been enhanced to be more durable and cut things much better than my previous sword." Raiden explained to Najenda
"I supposed its acceptable since its fine with you Raiden." Najenda said in an understanding tone
"Raiden, if this collaboration goes through. Do you think there would be more people like that Armstrong?" Chelsea asked in a curious tone
"That's a frightening possibility, Armstrong is a bit of a special case. But if my suspicions about the Prime Minister is accurate. He'll have people do a lot of inhumane things for the sake of his power. Making things worse, that young Emperor will still be manipulated." Raiden answered Chelsea causing everyone to have a worried look
"Raiden, when we heard you speak Armstrong. I get the feeling that there's a personal stake for you. If you don't want to tell us that's fine, but I saw that same anger and emotion when you fight Esdeath before we all teleported to your home." Akame said causing everyone to think for a second
"Everyone, listen up because I'm only going to say this once. You all know that I'm a child soldier. But what some of you don't know is that I've went through some hard times in my life." Raiden said before he took a deep breath and spoke further
"A few years ago, I've gotten the attention of some dangerous people after killing my adopted father. I was captured and experimented on, because they wanted the ultimate warrior along the lines of Solid Snake. The only remains of my body, is my head and spine. Along with a few organs. So when everyone called me the metal man, they weren't too far from the truth." Raiden said causing everyone to share a look of shock except for a few people
"So what you told Akame back it the Rebel HQ is true." Leone said in a surprised tone
"Oh my . . . . I can't even begin to imagine the kind of people that would do this to someone." Chelsea said showing a mix of fear and shock
"You guys know that the Empire doesn't value life. So if they succeed in this collaboration, just imagine what they'll do to other people. I don't care what you think of me, even though Solid Snake said otherwise. I'm a moster no matter how you look at it." Raiden said causing Tatsumi to speak up
"SO WHAT IF PEOPLE SEE YOU THAT WAY!" Tatsumi yelled getting everyone's attention
"You said that Solid Snake says that you're a man so that must be true. What kind of a monster fight the corruption and willingly put themselves against everyone to do the right thing? Besides, my own teigu is turning me into a Danger Beast. So your more of a human than I am." Tatsumi said impressing everyone in the room
"Esdeath likely knows this fact about you thanks to her connections. Yet for what its worth, she still considers you a worthy challenge for her." Akame said to Raiden
"Besides, your more human than any of the bastards I've had to kill. If anything, those bastards should be more like you." Leone said joining in on the statements
"Your taking care of a kid and is willing to risk everything to protect her. Can't say any monsters or the corrupt people of the Capital can do that." Chelsea said before Najenda started to speak up
"Raiden, before we proceed there is something I've been wanting to say to you for a long time." Najenda said causing the entire room to get quiet
"What I want to say is simply thank you. I know that we haven't exactly started off on the best start. But you've done a lot of good for us, more than I could ever put into words. I'm fully aware of the fact that we've lost some comrades to this point. But I can confidently say that if it wasn't for you our losses would've been more substantial. There's no doubt things would have been worse and we would have lost more friends." Najenda said before she continued speaking
"Your presence and actions have made things much better for us and I can't truly thank you enough. Even before the coming battle where anything can happen. The public doesn't know that Night Raid is in the employ of the Revolutionary Army. But your presence is known by everyone in the Revolutionary Army and the Empire. The corrupt individuals see you with fear. But for everyone else, they see you with respect and most importantly hope. You've brought hope during a time when many people need it and I can't thank you enough for that Jack." Najenda said surprising many when she said his real name before she continued further
"So I ask you, not as the Boss of Night Raid. But as a person you've brought hope to with your actions and presence. I know that you have no real obligation to keep fighting alongside us. But please do so for one final time for the upcoming battle." Najenda asked Raiden causing him to chuckle
"Don't worry boss, you should know that I'll see this through to the end." Raiden said reassuring everyone in the room
"Everyone, we'll be fighting against the Empire soon. So I suggest we go and get some rest and train as much as possible. Because the final battle is coming soon and we don't know what will happen." Najenda said dismissing everyone
(Moments Later)
A few hours later, Najenda found herself drinking and going over the battle plans. She sees that while the full-scale attack against the Empire commences. There are some individuals that needs to be eliminated as soon as possible. Najenda has a good idea as to who will be sent. Seeing as though the selected individuals will have an easier time getting into the Capital while the battle commences. As Najenda was going over the plans, a knock came at the door
"Come in." Najenda said before Lubbock entered
"Hey Boss, did I come at a bad time?" Lubbock asked in a nervous tone
"It's fine Lubbock, I was just going over some plans for the attack." Najenda answered to Lubbock
"Is everything on schedule, anything I can do to help?" Lubbock said
"Nothing you can do at the moment Lubbock, Its just some people that has to be dealt with during the attack. I know who to send since they'll have an easier time infiltrating the Capital and dealing with the targets. A fair heads up Lubbock, your one of them." Najenda told Lubbock
"Its fine boss, I'm glad that I can be of use to you." Lubbock said happily to Najenda
"Did you want to see me about something. If you want to talk I'm open to it, I can use a break from all of this." Najenda told Lubbock before she put the papers away
"Well you see, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while. The thing is I . . . ." Lubbock started saying before Najenda cut him off
"Lubbock, if your going to say what I think your saying then don't bother. I'm damaged goods, your better off with a woman that is better than me." Najenda told Lubbock
"How long have you known?" Lubbock asked in a curious tone
"I've suspected for a while, but the question is what prompted you to tell me now?" Najenda asked Lubbock in a curious tone
"Well, Jade noticed and said that if I waited too long then I will never get the chance. Also since Tatsumi told me that he got together with Chelsea, I realized that there's a chance I will never get the chance. But I don't see you as damaged goods, your still just as wonderful and beautiful as the day I first saw you." Lubbock stated proudly to Najenda
"That was a long time ago, but I appreciate it all the same. Hard to believe that a crucial moment is coming soon huh?" Najenda asked Lubbock
"Yeah, but you know what, being useful to you and standing by your side. I have no regrets for my decisions." Lubbock said causing Najenda to stand up and walk to the door. After Najenda made it to the door, she closed it and got closer to her trusted ally
"Well, I supposed we've earned this moment at least." Najenda said before her and Lubbock started to embrace each other
(The Outskirts of the Capital)
After several weeks have passed, the entirety of the Revolutionary Army has arrived and is facing the Capital. Unfortunately, they are greeted by a bizarre sight in the form of an ice army. Which was no doubt created by Esdeath and her abilities. Under most circumstances, people would be afraid of this development. However, all those that are fighting have too much resolve to be afraid of this display. If anything, they are more determined to destroy the icy soldiers created by the sadistic General.
"I never thought she would be able to create an army boss." Tatsumi told Najenda
"Neither did I, but if she thinks this will intimidate us. She misjudged us very poorly, we'll press on and deal with her." Najenda said before she heard several mumbles behind her. When she heard Raiden's name she understood why.
As Raiden walked through the army, many people were more motivated than before. Especially at the chance to see the Metal Man fight against the Empire. While others started to call him a different name, the Spark of the Revolution. Once Raiden made it to the front lines. He spoke to Najenda while he was accompanied by Wolf.
"They started the infiltration, so far on the front lines it's me Tatsumi and Wolf." Raiden told Najenda
"Good, as long as we keep Esdeath's attention. It'll buy them some extra time to deal with their targets." Najenda told Raiden
"Otacon and Chelsea will provide tactical support. Since they will be unable to fight in this battle." Wolf told Najenda
"Its fine, extra tactical minds is always handy and we'll be able to quickly provide each other with updates of what's going on. As an added bonus, they'll be able to keep an eye on Janey and Kurome." Najenda said before Raiden stepped forward and looked further out into the distance.
Though to many, they don't know what Raiden is looking at. But to those of keen eyes, its clear that a single individual has met his gaze. Raiden is seeing Esdeath at the top of the border wall and also notices that neither Vamp or Yashan is with her. This doesn't bode well for the veteran cyborg but it doesn't matter. Because the two powerful individuals who's staring at each other at a considerable distance has a silent understanding. The grand battle will begin soon that will test everything each of them has. Before the day is finished, only one of the two will be standing.
(A/N)
To prevent a potential misunderstanding, Esdeath is able to create an ice army in this chapter like in the manga. The requirement is that she needs a few days to be able to make a certain number of them. The ability is called Ice Calvary and thanks to the nanomachines she has. She required less time than normal and the Ice Calvary is stronger and more durable.
The proposition that Yashan made to Esdeath will be revealed in a future chapter. But that is all I will confirm.
This is the end of the Affairs arc. The next chapter will be the start of the FINAL ARC which is called the Spark of the Revolution. I have big plans for the final arc of this story and there are going to be some nice moments in it. Also keep in mind that the moments I have in mind for the final arc is before the post-story scenes. So I hope your all looking forward to them.
One last thing, all of the post story scenes will be in the final chapter of this story. They will also have there own author's notes.

"Colonel, I'm up against a guy who looks tricky. Do you have any intel that can be useful against him?" Snake asked over CODEC
"His name is Lubbock and he is not to be underestimated under any circumstances Snake." Colonel Campbell warned Snake over CODEC
"I take it you've come across some interesting intel?" Snake asked in a cautious tone
"Even though he looks unassuming, he is quite skilled with his teigu Cross Tail. His teigu are wires that he's able to manipulate at will and they cover a large distance as well. One of its uses is that he can make weapons out of the wires he controls. If your hit by the wire-formed weapon. He'll manipulate the wires to crush your organs, including but not limited to your heart." Colonel explained to Snake
"I get the feeling that there's more to it." Snake said in an impressed tone while hearing about the teigu
"Your right Snake, because that's just for offense use. For defense, the wires are quite durable and flexible, so he can hide them under his shirt and can quickly create body armor. Adding to his defensive options, he can even make a wire barrier. Last but not least, he can use the wires to set traps. The function as motion senses, so if you move cose to the wires, he'll notice. If you even touch one of his wire traps. You'll be in big trouble." Colonel Campbell explained to Solid Snake over CODEC
"Interesting, once I deal with this guy. I'll have to make sure to claim his teigu." Snake said in an impressed tone
"Sounds like your impressed with Lubbock and the teigu." Colonel Campbell said noticing the tone behind the statement
"Of course, his teigu is exceptionally versatile and requires the user to be adaptative and able to think on their feet. With its flexible defenses and offensive capabilities. It'll make a lot of my stealth missions go a lot smoother. Not to mention that the user has a good mix of skill and imagination. So I'm going to have to outsmart him and not fight him in his familiar setting if I want to beat him and claim his teigu." Snake explained to Campbell over CODEC
"I supposed our right Snake, gas based weapons might be a good way to go about this. Aside from that, you can always try to attack him from his blind spot." Campbell told Snake
"So long ranged tactics is going to be essential when dealing with him. Though if that's not an option, I have to find a way to outsmart him without falling into one of his own wire traps. Looks like I have a challenge to look forward to." Snake said in a that is a mix of confidence and determination before he engaged Lubbock
(Reminisce 11 Infamy)
"Hal, in the book you've given me. I noticed that there was a smear campaign against Snake. But I've heard you and Raiden say repeatedly that he's regarded as a hero. Would you care to clear that up a bit? I know that the details are in the book, but the confusion will bother me for a bit." Najenda told Hal
"I don't blame you, looking back on it in hindsight it still baffles me." Hal said before he started to explain
"Snake did succeed in his mission at Shadow Moses. Unfortunately, he also pissed off some very powerful and influential people in the process." Hal told Najenda
"Snake was able to deal with some crucial threats on that island. So I find it a bit confusing that people would be angry at him." Najenda said voicing her thoughts on the situation
"That's because Snake destroyed the weapon that those same people wanted for themselves. You see, there was a weapon called Metal Gear REX, it was very revolutionary and a lot of people had an interest in it. But in the wrong hands, it would be a threat to the very world. You do remember what I've told you about nukes right?" Hal asked Najenda
"Yes I remember you telling me the destructive capabilities that a nuke possess." Najenda answered while eagerly waiting for Hal's response
"Well REX is able to fire a nuke quickly and efficiently. It needs little prep time and can fire a nuke stealthily." Hal told Najenda causing the veteran woman to have a quick thought
"So it'll be able to fire a powerful weapon before anyone will have the chance to counterattack. I see why Snake had to destroy it." Najenda told Hal in an understanding tone
"Right, but there were some people that wanted REX for themselves. So when Snake destroyed or more accurately disabled REX. While also not have the REX battle data, it pissed of some people and started a smear campaign against him. His name got cleared eventually but the process was frustrating." Hal told Najenda
"That is rough, the members of Night Raid will be unkown in the public eye. But turning everyone against us despite what was done for the greater good. I can't even imagine having the will to press on despite that." Najenda told Hal in a somber tone
"Same here, Snake is an incredible man. No matter what anyone says about him, he will always be a legend and hero in my book." Hal told Najenda in a determined tone
"If I'd have met Solid Snake in the past. Then I would no doubt share in your sentiment Hal. In a way, I may have even fallen in love with the man, from his resolve and determination alone." Najenda said to Hal in an impressed tone
