Chapter 27

Alice walks out in a beautiful gown, that looks like it's taken out of a fairytale. The lacy skirt cascades down like a waterfall and pools around the floor.

"Alice, you look…" I falter.

"Bella, I think this is the one." She says and grins widely.

I simply nod at her as words fail me right now.

We finalize the gown and then move to bridesmaid gowns. I walk out with a peach-colored one and freeze to see Edward in front of me. "Wha—? What are you doing here?"

His gaze travels up and down my length and he smirks. "Hmm. I think I'd prefer the white one."

My eyes widen as my heart flutters in my chest. "Don't even try to joke around about it, Edward?"

He lifts one eyebrow in challenge. "What if I'm serious?"

I swallow loudly. "We've barely started dating."

"That's not a 'No' though"

I huff out a laugh in disbelief. "Are you seriously proposing to me right now?"

He stares at me for a long while and I fidget under his gaze. "No." He says finally. "This is me giving you a fair warning about what might entail in the future."

I bite my lip as a smile threatens to break. He chuckles lightly and then leans in closer. I look up at him and my heart pounds to see his mischievous smile. He leans down and mashes his lips to mine. My hands wrap around his shoulder and his trail down from my back to my waist. He pulls me closer as his arms cage me in.

I feel him smile as we kiss and my lips curve in a smile too. He finally pulls away and I try to reign in my rapid breathing.

"I'll wait for you, Bella. Until you're ready." He says firmly.

My smile widens. "I love you, Edward."

He looks me in the eyes and says sincerely, "I love you, Bella." I want to turn away from the intensity of his gaze, but I simply smile at him instead.

Six Months Later

"Bells, your dad is driving me crazy. Just call him back." Jacob says to me as we both walk toward the coffee shop.

I squeeze my eyes shut for a moment and then open them. "I can't, Jake. I'm really scared."

He huffs, annoyed. "Well, avoiding is only going to make it worse. What if he comes here?"

My eyes widen in horror. "Oh god. No. He can't."

"He just might," Jake says seriously.

"Okay. I promise I'll call him soon. I have to anyway since I'm going home for Christmas."

Jake falters. "Does Edward know?"

I stop too but don't reply. He sighs at my silence. "Have you talked to Edward at all?"

I hesitate. "Well…" I swallow once nervously.

Jake narrows his eyes at me and then suddenly his eyes widen. "Bella, does Charlie know that you are dating Edward again?"

I grimace and look away.

"Bella!" He exclaims and then throws his hands up in the air. "You two have been dating for six months now and you still haven't mentioned it to Charlie." His breathing picks up. "Oh god! Forget you, Charlie is going to kill me for not telling him sooner."

"Calm down. I was thinking of telling him everything before I go home."

He snorts loudly. "Yeah, sure. Like that's gonna help now."

I push him away lightly. "Stop scaring me. Look, Charlie really hates Edward for what happened between us three years ago. So, I couldn't broach his subject at all."

He stares at me for a while and then bursts in chuckles. "Bella, honey, you are really in trouble. Telling Charlie about Edward just before you—" He stops as a thought pops into his mind. "Wait. Is Edward going with you?"

I look away from him and answer. "Well, he is our neighbor, after all."

"You know what I mean."

"Yes. He's going to officially meet Charlie as my boyfriend."

Jake bursts out laughing again. "Oh, now I really feel sorry for Edward."

I just drop my head in shame.
