The first task of the Triwizard Tournament. 'tis a silly thing.

Hidden Tales From The Chamber of Secrets - 91 - Sssssonorus

.

The whistle blew and Harry left the tent to go and meet his dragon.

He stopped when he saw it. More than thirty feet of spiky-death wizard-roasting machine.

She was looking at Harry with narrowed eyes. Harry could hear her hissing, and it came out in his mind as a Litany of Murderous Intent against the handlers from the reserve.

Harry swallowed deeply. A cold sweat sprang from his brow. He could see that his Plan A had just died the death of exposure to an airborne blast furnace.

Oh well. Magic.

He transfigured his robes into a Dumbledoresque mish-mash of horribly clashing colours, complete with feathered crests and eye-searing curlicues. The dragon conspired to raise one eyebrow, quite in opposition to everything the books had said about reptilian physiology.

Pointing his wand at his neck, Harry cast the sonorus charm, and spake forth in parseltongue.

"FEAR ME! For I am insane, and have left all trace of reason behind."

The dragon's face was a picture of ... well, something ...

"I have left behind all reason when I left the muggle world, and have been roped into this Tournament of Crazyness! BEWARE, for I shall destroy your very reason ..."

The Horntail collapsed on her face, front paws over her head and seemed to be ... convulsing.

"I have come to sing you the song of my people ..."

What followed was a rendition, in parseltongue, with voices and sound effects, of The Last Goons Show Of All.

By the time the first act was done, there were puffs of smoke rising from under the quivering dragon's paws.

Act two saw the dragon on her back, roaring and flaming uncontrollably.

Act three had the poor creature gasping for breath.

The closing credits (as read by Eccles and Seagoon) had the poor creature spreadeagled and exhausted.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, and good night."

As Harry cast the countercharm, and turned to leave, the dragon hissed.

"Okay, kid. Just take the ruddy tin egg and go."
