Chapter 28
"The prince swung across the ship and...has anyone told you how pretty your eyes are." Derick said looking down at Liana who's head was rested on Dericks lap.
"You are an awful story teller." Liana said rolling her eyes. "I'm sorry but you're to distracting." Derick said leaning down to kiss her. Liana giggled.
"Liana." Flynn said opening Lianas bedroom door. "Blech!" Flynn exclaimed seeing his sister kissing. "What do you want Flynn." Liana said sitting up.
"When you two stop sucking each other's faces, dad wants you." Flynn said holding his hand over his eyes. "Ok thanks now get out." Liana said getting off her bed and pushing Flynn out the door
"You know Derick isn't supposed to be in your room after dinner." Flynn said condescendingly. "Well we had dinner thirty minutes ago so I think it's ok." Liana said closing her bedroom door.
Liana looked back at Derick who had covered his face with the book upside down. He pulled it down and looked at her confused. "This book is confusing." Derick said still holding the book upside down. Liana laughed and jumped back on her bed.
Thomas at the same time was walking by and heard her laughing. Lianas laugh made his knees weak, unfortunately he only heard it when she was with Derick as none of Thomas's jokes made her laugh she usually just got offended.
"Liana." Thomas said throwing Lianas door open. Startled by the noise Liana gasped and Derick quickly pushed Liana off of him causing them both to laugh.
Lianas expression quickly changed when she saw who had scared her. "Um Thomas I'm kinda busy." Liana said fixing her dress. "Oh well your dad wants you." Thomas said trying to be nonchalant.
"I'll be right back." Liana said kissing Dericks cheek. She jumped off her bed and quickly walked down the hall. "Back off." Derick said getting off of Lianas bed.
"What." Thomas said looking over at Derick. "You heard me, back off of Liana." Derick said fixing his hair in Lianas vanity mirror. "Why do I need to back off of Liana we're friends." Thomas said walking towards Derick.
"No you're not friends, she just puts up with you from time to time." Derick said readjusting his vest.
"Besides I know you've been trying to get her to date you."
Thomas froze he didn't have a comeback to that still he needed to show he wasn't scared. "So." Thomas said crossing his arms. "So...back off because if you didn't notice shes happy and you know dating me." Derick said shoving Thomas shoulder as he walked past.
"She's not going to stay with you." Thomas said as Derick walked away. "What." Derick said turning around. "If you didn't notice Liana is royalty and you're just some castle servant." Thomas said smirking.
"Shut up." Derick said clenching his fist. "I'm a prince which is the kind of guy she's needs..." Thomas began saying. Derick tried tuning out what Thomas was saying.
"You are bound to break her heart." Thomas said almost as if it was in slow motion. It struck Derick in the heart and made him erupt with anger. "I SAID SHUT UP!" Derick yelled pushing Thomas into Lianas vanity causing Thomas to crash into it.
"Fine you want to play rough let's play rough." Thomas said running up to Derick and pushing him back. The two boys began fighting and soon punched started getting thrown.
Liana had come back from her dads study to find the boys fighting both their faces had blood on them.
"STOP!" Liana yelled running up to them pulling them off each other. Derick wipes a small drop of blood that fell from his nose and stormed off.
"Derick." Liana said running after him. Thomas watched as she ran down the hall. He slammed her door and walked away.
"Pete, have you seen Derick?" Liana asked running up to Pete who was doing his nightly rounds. "I think he went outside." Pete said pointing to the courtyard. "Thanks." Liana smiled and ran off.
Liana looked around until finally she saw Derick sitting by a small pond in the garden. "Derick!" Liana exclaimed running up to him.
She embraced him from behind. "Li, I'm sorry things got out of hand and..." Derick begin explaining himself. "Shhh, I don't care about what happened just that you're ok." Liana said her face nuzzled on Dericks shoulder.
She turned him around and winced at the blood on Dericks face. "Come on let's go clean you up." Liana said helping him up and taking him to her bathroom.
"Hold still." Liana said wiping off the dried blood on the corner off his mouth. Derick couldn't look her in the eyes he was ashamed of what he had done, all her could hear was the words Thomas had said repeating in his head.
Liana noticed Derick frowning. "Hey." Liana smiled lifting Dericks head up. "I love you." She said lightly kissing his lips. Whenever she did that all his worries melted away, it was like the rest of the world stopped for just a couple seconds.
Only she could ease his mind when he was angry, upset, or even stressed. Even if it was just one of her smiles or the sound of her giggling he couldn't help but feel better. It didn't matter what other people thought.
He was a better person when he was with her, and he knew that the world could break him down a thousand times but he would never ever stop loving her. He would never break her heart because she was his princess.
Liana pulled her lips away. "I love you so much." Derick said tucking her hair behind her ear. She smiled. They had never said so much before but Liana knew that she loved him more than he could ever know.
"I love you so much too." Liana said pushing her forehead against his. Derick stood up and took Lianas hand. Togther they went out on to Lianas balcony. And he began dancing with her under the stars.
Derick spun her around and Liana giggled as she swayed in his arms. The moon and stars lit up the balcony as they danced. The whole time they stare into each other's eyes.
Finally they shared one last moonlit kiss that made ten feel like they were floating. When the kiss broke Liana grabbed a blanket and some pillows off her bed and set them up on the balcony.
That night Liana and Derick fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms under the starry night sky.
