Jane is in the locker room at work changing out of her uniform back into street clothes. It hadn't been a good week between Jane's hours at the station and Maura's clinicals the two hadn't spent much time together and it was starting to get at her. She was zipping up her bag when a tall man spoke.
"Hey Rizzoli how's that fine pice of ass your dating?"
Jane clinched her teeth tight and her fist tighter. "What the fuck did you just say Crowe?" The man laughed.
"You heard me."
"No you see Crowe I don't think I did. Because if I had heard you correctly your balls when be in your throat." Jane stared down the tall man.
"Whoa calm down Rizzoli I was only playing."
"Bullshit Crowe, if I hear another word come from your mouth directed at me or my girlfriend again you will be eating through a straw... permanently!"
Jane was ready to hand Crowe the beating her deserved until another rookie walked in.
"Whoa Jane he's not worth it." Riley said lightly pushing Jane back to her locker.
"And you jackass!" Riley turned her attention to Crowe. "You wouldn't know what to do with a woman like Maura not even if she drew you a map and gave you instructions! Now get outta here."
Jane couldn't help the laugh that escaped her mouth. A few other officers laughed along with her as they watched Crowe storm off.
"Aw man Riley that was to great! I don't know where you come up with this stuff." Jane said grabbing her bag to walk out with Riley.
"What can I say us women have to stick up for each other with all these asses."
"Yeah, well thanks I appreciate it. And the look on Crowe's face was the greatest thing I've seen today."
Silence fell between them before Riley spoke again.
"So what's your plans for tonight? Any plans with that gorgeous girlfriend of yours?" She asked giving Jane a nudge.
"I don't know...her clinicals are taking up alot of her time we haven't seen much of each other this week."
"Well go surprise her. Take her dinner from her favorite restaurant. C'mon Jane I know you can figure something out."
Jane sighed and rubbed her forehead. "I don't know Riley I don't want her to get upset with me if she's busy."
"Look Jane, that woman is crazy about you from what I've gathered by what you have told me. I don't think for a second that she would be upset with you. I think she would find it sweet. You have to atleast try Jane."
Jane thought it over for a moment. "Yeah I guess your right." She said with a smile.
"And hey, if she gets upset with you and you wanna grab a beer you can find me at The Dirty Robber. Okay?" Riley says placing her hand on Jane's shoulder.
As they walked out of the building Jane grabbed her phone from her pocket and quickly texted Maura.
"Hey beautiful, I know we have both been busy but I thought maybe I could bring you dinner?"
"Alright Jane this is where we part ways." Riley says pulling Jane's attention from her cell.
"Uh yeah right you sure you don't want a ride over to the bar?"
"Nah, I'll be fine I mean it's only a few blocks. But let me know how it goes with Maura."
Jane laughs. "I will."
"Oh and don't forget to get her some nice flowers to. You can never go wrong with flowers." Riley says as she walks away.
Jane just shakes her head and laughs. "Bye Riley." She says as she tosses her bag in her truck. As she starts the engine her phone vibrates on the dash. She smiled when she seen a message from Maura.
"Oh my love that's so sweet. I would love to have dinner with you."
"Okay great babe I'll be there in about 40 minutes. I'm just leaving the station." Jane sent her reply immediately followed by another.
"I love you gorgeous."
She smiled to herself as she put the truck in drive and pulled away from the curb. She drove down to one of Maura's favorite thai restaurants and picked up her favorite flowers on the way. She also stopped by her apartment for a blanket.
Once at the clinic she pulled into a spot, she grabbed the blanket from the back seat and quickly exited her truck. She dropped the tailgate and spread out the blanket, she placed a tray that she had grabbed from home and placed that in the middle along with a candle. She pulled out the takeout containers and placed one on each side of the tray. And last but not least she placed the flowers she bought in the palce where Maura would be sitting.
After setting up everything she pulled out her cell and texted her girlfriend.
"Hi babe, I'm outside if you would like to join me :)"
It didnt take the blonde long to reply. "I will be out shortly my love."
A few minutes passed, Jane looked up as she sat in the tailgate when she heard the clinic door open and the sound of her gorgeous girlfriend's laugh.
As Maura made her way towards Jane's truck her eyes instantly lit up at the sight before her.
"Oh Jane, you did all this for me?" Maura remarked steeping in between the brunettes legs that were dangling from the tailgate.
"Of cours babe. I know we haven't seen each other a lot this week so I wanted to make this count." Jane replied pulling Maura into another kiss.
"Do you like it?" Jane asked feeling a little insecure.
"Jane I love it. It's so sweet and thoughtful. Thank you."
Jane smiled wide. "Oh look I even brought you some of your favorite flowers."
"Flowers, food from my favorite thai restaurant and a romantic setting. If I didn't know any better I would say you Jane Rizzoli are trying to swoon me." Maura said with a smile.
Jane chuckled. "I'm not sure if swoon is the right word. But I wanted to make you smile and show that I will always make time for you no matter how crazy our schedules are."
Jane hopped down off the tailgate to help Maura up.
"Oh wait I have one more thing." Jane says after helping Muara up on the tailgate.
"Jane sweetie you've already done enough." Maura called after the brunette.
"I know you can't drink while working so I grabbed the next best thing." Jane smiled before bringing two grape juice boxes from behind her back causing Maura to chuckle.
"Wow you really did think of everything." Maura replied pulling Jane in for a kiss. The kiss deepen quickly causing both to break for air. Maura rest her forehead on Jane's placing soft kisses on her nose.
"I wish you didn't have to work tonight because when you kiss me like that it does something to me."
The blonde smiled. "What exactly does it do to you love?" Maura asked before kissing and licking the spot she below Jane's earlobe. The one spot that would drive her girlfriend insane.
Jane felt a shiver run down her back. She squeezed a little tighter to Maura's thighs.
"God Maur, you're going to have to stop that or we wont finish dinner and you wont finish work." Jane said looking up into sparkling hazel green eyes.
"I'm sorry love have I done something?" Maura asked with a mischievous grin.
"You know exactly what you did." Jane remarked with a smile.
"We might want to start eating before it gets cold." Jane says hopping back up on the tailgate. Maura smiled knowing she would be paying for working Jane up later but she didn't care she looked forward to it.
They enjoyed there meal and light conversation filled with loving looks and laughter. Before they knew it, it was time for Maura to head back inside.
"Do you have to?" Jane whined while helping Mauta down off the tailgate.
"Unfortunately my love yes I do." The blonde replied kissing Jane softly only to her the brunette pull her closer to deepen the kiss.
"I love you Maur." Jane spoke after catching her breath.
"I love you too Jane. And thank you for an amazing dinner and for be6so thoughtful."
"I'll do this every night of the week if it means I get to see you and that beautiful smile." Jane says softly caressing the blondes cheek with her thumb.
"How did I get so lucky?"
"I'm the lucky one." Jane says kissing Maura again this time letting the soft, lingering kiss express the love and compassion she held for this woman.
Maura sighed contently.
"As amazing as this was sweetie I really need to get back inside. But maybe I can come over when I'm done here. Do you think you will still be awake?"
"For you babe I would stay awake for days if it meant spending the night with you in my arms and waking up with you the next morning."
Maura wrapped her arms tightly around the brunette. "You are absolutely amazing. And I'm so happy that I have you all to myself."
"Always babe, I'll always be just yours." Jane remarked with a smile.
They shared one last kiss before Maura picked up her flowers and headed back inside. The blonde stood at the doors and watched as Jane cleaned up and then drove off.
"Now how do I find me someone like that?" Her friend Jen asked standing off to the side.
Maura smiled. "Have you been watching this whole time Jen?"
"Oh god no I'm not some creeper! But I did see enough to know that you got it bad girl."
Maura blushed a little.
"I hope you know how lucky you are to have a woman who does things like that just to see you. That kind of love is hard to find."
"I know just how lucky I am." The blonde says smiling and smelling the flowers.
"If you cut her loose for any reason you let me know so I can get in on that!" Jen says laughing.
"Jen! I have you know there will be no cutting anything loose. And besides you aren't attracted to women." Maura says giving her friend a playful slap on the arm.
Jen sighed dramatically. "No you're right I'm not but for a woman as sexy as that Jane Rizzoli I would."
"Oh my god Jen you are incorrigible!" Maura laughs.
"Its only the truth." Jen says defending herself with a smile.
"Well, that Jane Rizzoli is taken so go find your own." Maura remarks playfully. "I have to get back to my rounds, would you mind putting these behind the desk until I leave?" Maura asked handing Jen her flowers.
"Of course."
Maura finishes up the rest of rounds with a huge smile on her face. She had the most amazing woman waiting up for her. She couldnt wait to get off and head straight for her.
When Maura entered Jane's apartment she noticed Jane sitting on the couch watching the sports channel. She placed her bag down and hung up her jacket before she could turn around the brunette had already made her way to her and wrapped her in her arms.
"Hi beautiful, I missed you." Jane says burying her face in the blondes neck
"Mmm, I missed you to my love." Maura says turning to face the brunette. "How about we shut off the television and head to bed?" She says wiggling her eyebrows. Jane didn't need any more encouragement.
She swooped the blonde off her feet carrying her towards the bedroom only stopping to grab the remote to turn off the tv. The rest of the night was spent with both women making up to each other the time that was spent apart. A few hours later theh spent in each others arms, each one caressing a spot on the other. It didn't take much for them both to drift off into a peaceful sleep.
It was passed 4am when Maura was awakened by the brunette tossing and turning and mumbling in her sleep. "Frost no, watch out!" Jane yelled in her sleep.
The blonde quickly reached over and turned on the light to see Jane drenched in sweat.
"Jane, love wake up your having a bad dream. Jane!" Maura said a little louder to wake the brunette.
Jane's eyes flew open as she looked around the room still panting she grabbed Maura's hand and squeezed.
"It's okay love, I'm here. You were having a nightmare." Maura said softly brushing some hair off the brunettes sweaty forehead.
Jane looked into hazel green eyes as her own eyes filled with tears.
"Oh sweetie come here." Maura remarked pulling the brunette into her arms. Jane immediately buried her face in the blondes lap as heart wrenching sobs wreaked her body. Maura could only rub up and down the brunettes soaked shirt and place soft kisses on her head as her own tears fell.
"Its okay my love. I'm here, do you want to talk to me about it? She asked softly. Jane just shook her head no.
"Okay baby whenever you want to talk about it I'll be here." Maura replied kissing the brunettes head again. Mauta sat with her back against the headboard with the brunette in her lap. She stayed in that position until Jane was able to fall back to sleep.
She slid down into a more comfortable position pulling the brunette into her arms only then did she manage to drift back to sleep hoping Jane wouldn't have another nightmare.
