Selene Taevas, 18.
District 3 Female.
"Hello, tributes, and welcome to the 207th Hunger Games!" The voice of Quill rang out over the Arena. Selene had already figured out where her allies were, Lynus was 4 pedestals to her right, and Impala was 7 pedestals to her right, just past Lynus. At least they were close together, as well as the fact they were on the side of the cornucopia where the mountains were to their backs since the opposite side of the cornucopia had a few hundred meters of barren, grey landscape, before it turned into a complete drop-off, basically forcing all the tributes in the same direction, up into the mountain ranges.
"As you all know, don't step off your pedestal until the gong sounds. The countdown will begin momentarily." The voice continued, before going silent, the only noise the cool wind whistling through the peaks of the mountain. The countdown began at 60, working its way back down to 1 eventually. Selene could see several bags, seemingly overflowing with supplies from her vantage point, just one or two of those could keep their entire alliance going for a week.
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1." The gong rang, and Selene leaped off her pedestal, crouching low as she ran for the bags that she'd been eyeing. The tributes around her scattered in various directions, some moving away from the gleaming Cornucopia, and others away. She watched as the kid from 2, Ozzie, knocked the younger girl from 6 down, placing a boot on her chest as they drove a sword that they were holding into her chest. Selene winced as she witnessed the light drain from her eyes. Selene picked up two of the larger bags, slinging them onto her back, as well as grabbing a small satchel from the ground, she opened it to find a few knives, including a set of throwing knives. She pulled two out of the bag, before tossing it over her shoulder as well. As she turned to run off, back to find her allies, she encountered Amber, pointing a large, square knife at her.
"Now where do you think you're going with our supplies, huh?" Amber said, grinning maliciously.
"Maybe you Careers should just learn to share with the rest of us, how 'bout that," Selene replied, quirking an eyebrow. The two stood there for a moment, neither making a move before Selene took one of the knives she had on hand, pulling her arm back and throwing the knife at Amber with a smooth, quick motion. It struck Amber directly in the chest, and she collapsed, blood oozing from the wound as Selene ran past her body. Selene reached down, yanking the knife from Amber's chest unceremoniously, before taking off back past her pedestal. She paused for a moment, looking around for her allies. She spotted Lynus, a ways away on the foothills of the mountain, far enough away from the carnage but close enough that she could find him easily. She made her way towards him, as she approached she slung a bag off her shoulder, tossing it at his feet.
"Where's Impala?" Selene asked, just now realizing they were missing an ally. Lynus looked back to the Cornucopia, then back to Selene.
"I- I dunno, she went in there trying to get something, and she told me to come to wait out here, and she hasn't come back since," Lynus said shakily, looking like he was on the verge of tears.
"Shit. Here, take this, stay here. I'm going back in to find her." Selene said, dropping the second bag at his feet, and opening the satchel of knives she'd grabbed. She pulled out a handful of throwing knives, as well as a medium-sized hunting knife, which she passed to Lynus.
"Are you sure about this?" Lynus said, glancing nervously back at the Cornucopia. Selene nodded, before taking off towards the Cornucopia. As she approached, she could hear the Careers chattering inside the Cornucopia, she approached carefully as not to notify them of her presence. She looked around at the carnage, spotting Impala's broken body nearby. Her ally was dead, and Selene could do nothing to protect her as she promised.
Arvid Lidstrom, 16.
District 7 Male.
Arvid passed a bag to Ardley, who took it slinging it onto his back. They'd found each other quickly, and made their way into the Cornucopia for supplies, which was risky, but it was seemingly paying off quite nicely. The Careers too wrapped up in their killing of others, hadn't taken notice of them yet, having come in to take their pick of weapons, and then leaving to do whatever it was that Careers did during the Bloodbath.
"C'mon, we gotta go, they're gonna be back soon," Ardley said looking over his shoulder at the mouth of the cornucopia. Arvid nodded his agreement, grabbing one last thing from the Cornucopia, a pair of smaller axes, seemingly placed there just like him.
"Okay I'm ready, let's go," Arvid said, nodding. The pair stepped out of the Cornucopia, both keeping an eye out for Careers or any other people that could possibly pose a threat to them. During this time, Arvid spotted the girl from 2 take down two people on her own, the boy from 8, Cassian, who was cut down effortlessly, followed by the girl from 5. He shuddered slightly, it was definitely not a pretty sight, but it was reality.
"Now where do you two think you're going?" A familiar voice called from behind them, the scraping of metal against leather could be heard. Arvid froze, turning around slowly to see Ozzie, blood-spattered across their face, an unnerving grin plastered on their face. Arvid and Ardley turned to look at each other, a knowing look passing between them.
"Well, we were trying to go somewhere that's not here, but uh, here we are being stopped by you," Arvid replied, his voice surprisingly steady considering the situation. Ozzie nodded, the grin widening substantially.
"Well you two-" Ozzie started, before being cut off by the axe chucked at their head. It didn't hit them, it bounced off their sword, but it gave Arvid and Ardley enough time to escape. Ardley grabbed Arvid by the hand, turning and running towards the foothills of the mountains. They came to a stop, once they were a safe distance away, and Arvid was sure they weren't being followed. They came to a stop in a small crevice in the rock, putting them out of sight of the Cornucopia.
"Dude, what the fuck! That was badass!" Ardley exclaimed excitedly, wrapping Arvid in a tight hug, which Arvid awkwardly returned, patting Ardley on the back.
"Uhh, thanks?" Arvid replied, continuing to pat Ardley on the back.
"Any time! Now, what do we do?" Ardley said, releasing Arvid from the hug after what seemed to be an eternity.
"Dunno, lets sort through these bags, and see what we've got I guess?" Arvid said with a shrug. Ardley nodded his agreement, and they got down to it.
Creed Odinshoot, 18.
District 2 Female.
Creed whirled her staff around, looking around the barren landscape for more possible opponents. She'd already taken out three, the girls from 5, 6, and 12, as well as the boy from 8, and she wasn't exactly sure how to feel about it. She figured reality would kick in once the adrenaline wore off, but that would take a little while. In the meantime, Creed took a seat on a nearby rock after grabbing a water bottle from the Cornucopia. She set her staff down on the ground, thinking about how she needed to clean the blades on either end off when she got a chance. She sat for a moment, drinking her water. She wondered where Dyan was, she knew he wasn't dead since she didn't see his body and that brought her some semblance of comfort, however she didn't know where he was, or if he had any supplies. She was going to make sure she got the night patrol, so she could go looking for him while the others slept.
Creed continued sitting for a moment longer before she was knocked to the ground, the water bottle in her hand flying from her grasp. The wind had been knocked out of her lungs, and she gasped a deep breath in, as she rolled over onto her back, to see the girl from 7, holding a sword at her chest.
"Ooh, did that hurt? Is little Miss Career not shaping up to be what the Capitol thought she would be?" The girl, Breccan said, holding the sword to her chest. Creed reached for her staff, but it was just out of reach, as Breccan kicked it away, placing a boot on Creed's chest.
"Trust me, I've felt worse than that," Creed growled, a plan formulating in her head. If she could knock the sword out of her hand, she could probably knock the other girl off of her. Just because she didn't have a weapon, didn't mean she was defenceless. She was about to enact her plan, before Creed heard footsteps, a shadow coming up behind Breccan. She didn't know who it was, or what they were doing, but it was less of a surprise to her when Breccan gasped loudly, blood blossoming on the front of her jacket. Breccan collapsed next to Creed, the pressure finally being relieved from her chest. She quickly hopped to her feet, staring down the person who'd saved her. It was Dyan, holding a bloodied knife shakily.
"Dyan? What the fuck are you doing here?" Creed said, a wave of confusion hitting her like a truck.
"I- Well I saw you were in trouble, so I came to help. But I killed her." Dyan said, eyes darting between Breccan's still body, and Creed.
"Listen, kid, I'm glad to see you, and I'm even more glad to know you're okay, but you need to get out of here before the others see you," Creed said, bending down slightly to talk to Dyan.
"Okay, I'll go. Where should I meet you?" Dyan asked, his voice shaking slightly.
"Go that way, I'll meet you in the foothills of the mountain tonight, after the anthem okay? Do you have supplies?" Creed asked, placing a hand gently on Dyan's shoulder. He nodded, showing her the small bag which was slung over his shoulder. She nodded, flashing him a grin and a thumbs-up.
"I'll see you soon Creed," Dyan said, as he began walking away.
"I'll see you soon kid," Creed replied, picking up her staff and making her way back to the Cornucopia to see the extent of the damage.
Echo Fellman, 16.
District 1 Male.
Echo leaned back against the smooth metal side of the Cornucopia. The Careers had taken out 7 people but had lost one of their own in the fray, Amber. He watched as Ozzie paced, holding an ice pack to their head where an axe had smacked them, thrown by the District 7 boy.
"What do you mean, she's dead? What the fuck happened!" Ozzie shouted at Terce, who had just so happened to be the one to be standing nearby as the girl from 3 killed Amber.
"That girl from 3 took her out, there was nothing I could do," Terce replied, equally as loudly.
"That's bullshit Terce, and we all know it!" Ozzie said, tossing the ice pack at the ground. It exploded, sending gross ice pack goop flying, covering both Terce and Ozzie.
"Okay, how about we calm down everybody, we have other pressing matters to attend to," Pedro said, stepping into the middle of the argument, placing a hand on Ozzie's chest.
"Okay, fine. I'm feeling merciful today, be thankful Terce." Ozzie growled. Terce moved to stand next to Echo, stuffing his hands in his pockets to keep the others from seeing them shaking.
"They're angrier than usual." Echo whispered, leaning over so Terce could hear him.
"Yeah, I think they're just mad Creed landed more kills than they did," Terce replied, his voice shaking slightly, but Echo could tell he was calming down.
"She got more kills? Damn, I'm not surprised." Echo said, chuckling under his breath a slightly.
"Okay, so everyone listen up, here's the plan. We're gonna set up a watch rotation, and tomorrow we're gonna scout for a better spot to stay since everyone knows we're here, and those big ass mountains put us at a bit of a disadvantage." Pedro said, returning from his short conversation with Ozzie, who was currently skulking off towards the side of the Cornucopia.
"Will we be able to take everything with us?" Charlotte called from her position, she was seated on a pile of crates just inside the Cornucopia.
"Yeah, we'll just make multiple trips if needed," Pedro replied. Charlotte nodded her satisfaction, they sure didn't want to leave anything valuable behind in case somebody came back looking for supplies.
"How are we gonna do watch rotations?" Creed piped up from where she was, leaning against the side of the Cornucopia opposite from him, not looking up from her task, which was cleaning the blades of her staff. Echo thought it was a strange-looking weapon, basically a metal rod with two blades attached to the ends. However weird it was, Echo had seen Creed wielding it, and he most definitely did not want to be on the wrong end of it.
"We'll split the day into 4, 2 during the day, 2 during the night," Pedro replied.
"I'll take the first night watch then," Creed said.
"Alright sounds good. Now let's get to taking stock of what supplies we've got." Pedro said, gesturing to the Cornucopia. Echo followed the rest of the group in, as they began sorting through the supplies they had.
