Alex's P.O.V

A lot has happened since I came to stay with Klaus. Alaric's psychotic alter-ego has taken over Alaric entirely. He hid the stake in the cave no vampire can enter, but Klaus said Rebekah went to retrieve it. Victor and Daniel texted me saying they were helping my brothers, by force, and would keep an eye on them for me. Stefan found out what Damon and I were fighting about, and from what Klaus, Victor, and Daniel said, Stefan isn't happy. I got a text from Caroline yesterday, thanking me for helping Tyler break his sire bond. I guess he's back now, but since Klaus didn't mention him to me first, I'm assuming he doesn't know. But Caroline didn't ask me where I was or anything, which told me my brothers told everyone about Klaus and me.

About Klaus and I - well, it's complicated.

The night I came over I was crying my eyes out, yet I still managed to explain what happened to Klaus. I fell asleep on the couch and woke up in bed next to him. That morning, I went downstairs for a cup of coffee, and when he came down, he kissed my forehead as if we had been dating for six months. I was still shaken up by everything that happened with Damon, that I didn't want him to play the role of a boyfriend, even though he's not my boyfriend. He then left to get the last two stakes and everything with Alaric happened, but I had fallen asleep on the couch again by the time Klaus got home.

Which leads us to where I am right now, I woke up in his bed again with the sunlight shining in my eyes. I don't know why he keeps bringing me to his bed? I told Klaus that I was fine sleeping on the couch the first night I came here to stay with him, but of course, he ignored me.

I sat up and stretched in bed before going downstairs in some pajamas Rebekah had given me, per Klaus' "request." I walked into the kitchen and made myself a cup of coffee before going to the living room. In the living room, I saw Klaus painting and leaned against the wall behind him.

"Good Morning, sweetheart," Klaus greeted.

"Did you get the last stake?" I asked as I sat down on the couch.

"I did," Klaus said. "It's currently burning in the fireplace."

"Congratulations," I complimented, and he turned to me with a smile. Klaus walked over to me and sat down. I took a sip of my coffee as his smile turned into a smirk. "What?"

"Well, nothing is holding me here anymore, and once I get the doppelganger, I'm leaving town." I'm sure Damon and Stefan won't be happy about that. "I was hoping you might accompany me," Klaus said, and I hummed as I placed my coffee mug on the table.

"Maybe," I said. "It all depends if my brothers stop you before you leave with Elena."

"What makes you think I haven't planned for that?" He asked me.

"As long as you don't kill them, I won't stand in your way. I could care less for Elena," I stated. "But if I go with you we have to bring Victor and Daniel."

"Why do they have to come with us?" Klaus asked.

"Because they came looking for us for a reason. Victor and Daniel want to be part of a pack," I explained and Klaus thought it over before sighing.

"Fine. Victor and Daniel can come, but I still don't trust them," Klaus told me, and I nodded. He stood up and went back to painting. I continued to finish my coffee and read a copy of The Great Gatsby, which I had found yesterday.

~Later in the Afternoon~

I walked back into Klaus' room to take a shower since I only knew where his bathroom was. I walked in and saw a gorgeous dress laid out on his bed. It looked like it had been plucked from the 1920s, but with a modern twist. I walked up to it and almost jumped when a voice spoke up behind me.

"Do you like it?" Klaus wondered. I turned and looked at him, before looking back at the dress with a chuckle.

"So what party am I going to now?" I asked him as I turned my back to him. He walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist, looking down at the dress.

"Rebekah put together this decade dance at the high school, and before we can leave, I have to attend the dance," Klaus explained. "I was hoping you would come with me."

I spun around in his arms, "Like a date?" I asked him.

"If you wish to see that way, then yes," He replied, and I smiled.

"Ok," I said, with a smile, and wrapped my arms around his neck. "You know it's like the 3rd date we've gone on, right? If you count the time, you possessed Alaric and your family's ball." He chuckled at me. "Also my brothers might be there too because I'll bet on my life that Elena's there."

"Well, I'll make sure to behave myself then," Klaus told me. "Not to mention if I ruin the dance, Rebekah will want my head on a silver platter." I laughed slightly.

"When is the dance?" I asked him.

"In a few hours," Klaus replied, and I pulled myself away from him.

"Well, I better get ready then," I said and walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind me.

~At the High School~

On the way to the dance, Klaus and I talked about the 1920s, and he filled in a few memories gaps I still had. He had gotten a car to take us to the dance, but I wasn't one for fancy cars or dates. The only thing I ever wanted in a partner, was to enjoy and to get to know them.

The car pulled up to the dance and Klaus stepped out of the car, holding a hand out to me. I grabbed it as I got out. He closed the door behind us and linked our arms together, his arm over mine before we made our way inside. On the outside of the high school, there was a red carpet leading up to the double doors. I looked around and could tell what parts of the school got rebuilt since it seemed brand new. Klaus and I walked into the gym, and there was a slow jazz song playing.

"Care to dance?" The Original asked me, and I smiled.

"I'd love too," I beamed with happiness, and he brought me to the middle of the dance floor. Klaus spun me around before bringing me closer to his chest as we danced together. "So what do you plan to do with your life after you leave this town?"

"I hope to be with you, for one," Klaus replied, and I giggled at him. "And maybe we'll move to France or Italy and create a new epicenter of greatness."

"Wow, who knew the great Klaus Mikaelson was a romantic at heart?" I asked him, light-heartedly.

"Well, love," He said and dipped me slowly. "I am a man of many secrets." Yes, I was aware of that. Klaus brought me back up, and I smiled at him. I can't remember a time when I was this happy - No wait, I can. 1921. The day he made me forget him. That was the last time I was this happy.

Klaus noticed something behind him, and I turned to see what he was looking at. I saw Caroline and Tyler dancing with each other. They seemed happy, and I turned my gaze back to Klaus. "I wasn't aware Tyler was back," He said.

"You talk as if he has left," I said to him, as I laid my head on his chest, and he looked down at me. The one secret Klaus didn't know was that I helped Tyler break his sire bond and I intended to keep it that way.

"I haven't seen him around," Klaus told me.

"Neither have I, but then again, it's not my job to keep tabs on him," I acknowledged and looked behind Klaus to see Damon standing in the hallway talking to Stefan.

They were too far away for me to hear what they were saying, but my brothers looked like they were in a rush, and since Elena wasn't with them, I imagined it had something to do with her. The song ended, turning into a more upbeat song, and I sighed.

"Let's go find Rebekah," I suggested, and I lead him outside. Klaus pulled out his phone and called his sister, but she didn't answer. We both stopped walking when we noticed the salt barrier. Shit.

"What is this?" Klaus asked, and I felt a presence behind me. I turned around and saw Stefan standing behind us.

"Your mother's back," Stefan said, and Klaus turned around to him. "She has Elena." Stefan didn't look at me, and I looked down with a sigh of exasperation. It was going to be a long night.
