Chapter 30 I never thought any of my stories would pass 20 this is awesome!
two things-
one: I have no idea what rideable dragon Cami should have, if you have any suggestions feel free to leave them in a review.
Two: I have several possible scenarios regarding Thuggory and a potential girlfriend
the options are-
Astrid (if she has a change of heart)
Heather
and Avery (an OC of mine that is geeky like Fishlegs and a healer like Gothi, (she is the pale blond haired girl from chapter 21)

Chapter 30- "Diving in"
(Cami's perspective)
(below deck)
The little dragon followed me to the rear of the lower deck, no one ever really came over here.
I sat down cross legged and motioned for him to sit in my lap.
He scampered over and sat in the centre of my lap.
I gently began inspecting him; I lifted one of his wings and stretched it out to its full length, then I grabbed his paw and gently ran my finger over one of his claws, it was dull. But then I heard a sound similar to drawing a sword and the claws suddenly became sharp enough to grip something, they were made more for climbing and gripping. After inspecting his claws I moved to his tail his tail could fan out and collapse in on itself similar to Toothless' tail, the exception is the little dragons tail had one position more than Toothless when it was in this extra position the tail seemed heavier and stronger at the same time, it was also extremely compact, however there was a small bone that protruded when the tail was in this 'special mode'. I then moved to the weird metal strip like scales he had, they were smoother than his other scales and had a metallic sheen to them.
"Wonder'd where you were." Hiccup's voice said
My head snapped up and saw Hiccup standing there.
"I just wanted to… examine him." I explained
Hiccup sat next to me and started rooting around inside his vest.
He procured a small sketchbook and a charcoal pencil.
He opened to a blank page and began to sketch the now sleeping little dragon in my lap.
Eventually I fell asleep and leaned my head on Hiccup's shoulder.
(Thuggory's perspective)
I stood on the starboard side of the boat leaning over the railing as I watched the water slide by the hull of the lower decks where I had seen Cami and later Hiccup go.
I stood there entranced by the flow of the sea.
I heard footsteps behind me.
"Peaceful isn't it?" Bertha asked from behind me
I silently nodded my head
"It looks calm, but beneath the surface it's dangerous, your Shipwreck is proof of that."
I spun around to look at her shocked that she had used his name.
"I don't like the dragons but if you three can control them i'll let you keep them. On the basis that they don't enter the village." Bertha chuckled
"Thank you." I said
Bertha turned and left me to my thoughts
I gazed out into the horizon where the blue of the sky met the blue of the sea
I looked behind us and saw the tiny smudge of black that was Shipwreck.
He was swimming calmly then suddenly he turned sharply towards the port side of the ship
I looked at his fin confused by this sudden turn.
Then he darted to the port side and out of my sight.
I stood up straight and walked to the opposite side of the ship to see what had gotten Shipwreck's attention.
When I got there I saw not one but three black fins cutting through the water, 2 of which were heading straight for the ship and the other heading to intercept them.
"See! I told you they were gonna betray us!" Tindra shouted from over my shoulder
I whirled on her and thrust one of my flaming axes at her neck.
"I swear if you don't shut up about my dragon being 'evil' I will give him permission to chew you up and spit out whatever's left!" I threatened
She looked terrified
I smirked
She turned and stomped away leaving me to deal with the two new sharkworms
I looked back to where Shipwreck was; in between our boat and the two Sharkworms.
They seemed to be communicating as the part of their silhouette that I think was their head kept moving in strange ways.(1)
They conversed for a bit until the two new shark worms turned and swam slowly away from the boat.
I raised my arms in triumph for Shipwreck proving Tindra wrong when I heard a loud thunk and the whole boat rocked heavily
I fell to the floor on my rear
I stood up and ran to the opposite side of the boat where the thunk came from.
I looked down and saw a large hole in the ship and water was seeping in
"LOCK ALL THE DOORS BELOW DECK!" Tindra shouted
She turned to me and gave me the evil eye but said nothing
A bunch of people ran below deck and began locking the doors to try and contain the leak
I ran back over to see Shipwreck and saw the two sharkworms that were swimming away had now turned around and started to attack him and the ship.
Then I saw a forth one rise up out of the water in between the boat and Shipwrecks back and spat a greenish yellow fireball that streaked towards him.
I drew my hatchets and jumped onto the new comers back as I slashed both axes into him.
I felt a slight tingling sensation in my chest but ignored it, the dragon shrieked and dove under water causing me to lose my grip on my now extinguished axes and my grip on him.
I was now in the water with 4 identical creatures, 3 of which wanted me dead!
(Cami's perspective)
"Cami." I heard the muffled voice of Hiccup in my sleep
"MMGGhhh." I groaned in annoyance as I stubbornly tried to go back to bed
"CAMI!" Hiccup shouted urgently as he stood up causing me to fall over
I expected to hit a bed, a couch, wood or even embarrassingly a pile of clothes. What I did not expect to land on... or in was water?!
I snapped awake as I got up into a crouch when I realised that my butt, my legs and my feet were also soaked.
I quickly remembered where we were as the little dragon floated comically on top of a small box Hiccup sloshed through the knee high water(2) towards the door.
He jiggled the handle loudly but it didn't open.
"Its locked." he declared
"NO REALLY?! I thought you were just making music!" I snapped sarcastically
The water was now as high as my mid thigh and was continuing to rise.
Hiccup knelt down till he was on his stomach in the water and began to look for a hole while I looked for something to patch it.
Hiccup dunked himself in several different locations to try and find the breach.
After several tries he pops up with water dripping down his face.
"Here." he pants
"I don't have anything except this." I said as I held up a large crinkled and bent sheet of metal.
Hiccup put on his thinking face and began sloshing through the now waist high water
"We could push one of the boxes against the sheet and press it against the hole." he mused
"The sheet is wrinkled and bent." I mentioned
"Right…" he groaned
The little dragon floated to my right on the box and was staring intently at the metal in my hand.
Suddenly he lunged at it and knocked it out of my hand and grabbed it with his jaws and swam under the water
"HEY! Gimme that." I shouted at him as I tried to chase him through the now stomach high water.
His silhouette swam towards the breach with the sheet, he fumbled around with it under the water for a couple of seconds before a bright glaring light appeared by the breach, bubbles began rising and bursting on the top of the water quickly and the temperature of the water suddenly got extremely hot.(3)
After a moment the heat became unbearable and me and Hiccup climbed on top of a box and crouched there as the ceiling was too low
I realised that the water had to be at least past my shoulders by now!
After a moment the light under the water became so bright that me and Hiccup had to look away, however that didn't help as the water both reflected and magnified the light all over the room, I closed my eyes and still saw the glow behind my eyelids, it was like what seeing Odin himself would be like!
(Bertha's perspective)
I came out of my cabin to see what had happened to see Thuggory crouching on the side of the boat dual wielding his ignited hatchets, then he jumped into the water I heard a loud shrill shriek and then a bunch of splashing, I rushed over to see what had happened and looked down to see Thuggory unarmed in the middle of four indistinguishable Sharkworms
I grabbed a bow and started to fire at the one that had two hatchets embedded in its back.
"Fire only on the one that has the hatchet injuries!" I shouted to the other archers
They all complied and soon the creature looked like a hybrid between a shark, a dragon and a pufferfish.
One of the sharkworms suddenly leapt out of the water and attempted to land on the deck of the boat
A banshee shriek wailed in the sky and everything turned purple as the sharkworm was blasted back into the water before it even made contact with the ship.
I looked up at our savior and nodded. The dragon looked at me and opened its mouth and its tongue lolled out in a childish smile.
(Thuggory perspective)
I tried to keep all four shark worms in my sight as possible, this was extremely hard to do as they splash around which blinds me momentarily. They swam fast and erratically and went under the water, one even jumped over me. I heard a banshee shriek and then a boom, I looked up to see what exploded to see a flailing sharkworm almost land on my head
I swam away to make sure I wasn't crushed by the mass of the dazed creature.
When it splashed into the water I realised I had lost sight of all the other three!
I quickly went under water, opened my eyes and looked around me
One was in between me and the ship and looked like a pufferfish with all the arrows sticking out of it, and the other one that I could see was charging at me from the opposite direction.
I turned to face the one that was swimming towards me when suddenly it was bitten from below by the third remaining sharkworm. I was unsure as to if the one that was swimming towards me was Shipwreck and he was coming to help, or the one that attacked the one approaching me was Shipwreck protecting me or if neither of them were Shipwreck and they were so crazed by the blood in the water that they didn't care who or what they killed!
I realised that my vision was getting cloudy I looked around and the water had small wisps of blood all around me
It must have been visible because I was suddenly lifted up out of the water by my armpits and flown to the ship and dropped on the deck
I stood up and grabbed a bow and joined the archers at the side of the boat
I nocked my arrow and pulled it back.
My arm began shaking, then my vision wavered, then I felt my grip on my arrow loosen, as the arrow flew from me so did my consciousness…
(Bertha's perspective)
I watched as Thuggory tipped forward, then he tipped backwards, he lost his grip on the arrow and it flew out of his bow and harmlessly into the air over the water, then he collapsed backwards onto the deck. All this happened in seconds! I dropped my bow and rushed over to him
I got down on my knees by his side and held my hand above his face.
I snapped my fingers and hoped for a response. None came.
I grabbed his shoulder and squeezed hard enough to get someone's attention but gently enough that no pain was caused.
Once again he gave no indication he felt it, if it weren't for the steady rise and fall of his bloody chest I'd have thought he was dead.
My mind snapped back
'Bloody chest?'
I looked back at his chest and saw a noticeable gash that went through his armour and to his chest beneath.
"Tindra get me some Bandages and ointment from below deck." I commanded
She quickly ran off to get the needed supplies
I heard the wail and boom of Hiccup's night fury once again and plenty of splashing
Soon the splashing stopped and something rocked the boat.
I looked up and saw the face of a sharkworm, in its mouth it held two hatchets and it had a worried expression on its face.
I heard a clatter as it dropped the hatchets onto the deck and nudged his riders side.
A somber silence came over the women on board…
(Hiccup's perspective)
I clenched my eyes shut and turned my face away from the blinding light coming from under the water. After a moment I realised I no longer could hear the bubbling of the water, just a gentle sloshing. I slowly opened my eyes expecting to regret my decision when all I saw was water, the inside of the boat, Cami and the little dragon looking up at me and Cami.
I grabbed Cami's shoulder and gently shook her
"Cami we can open our eyes now." I said
She slowly opened her eyes and saw the exact same thing I did.
I climbed off the box and into the water
I turned and helped Cami down and into the water
She turned around and climbed off the box backwards. I stood behind her with my arms up like walls on both sides of her.
She jumped gently backwards and into me so that her back was against my front.
"Ooh!" she exclaimed quietly
"Why are you whispering?" I chuckled
She turned around quickly
"No reason!" she said a little too quickly as a blush rose to her cheeks.
I smirked
"Don't start thinking like Thuggory." I teased her
She was about to respond when there was the sound of a key in the lock.
"Don't ope…" I said before the door was forced open by the weight of the water on it and the person on the other side of the door was swept backwards by the force of the water.
Because me, Cami and the little dragon were floating in the water we were swept along too and into the main part of the lower deck.
I ended up landing on something quite soft, when I opened my eyes I saw Cami's eyes staring back at me
I quickly stood up as I apologised for landing on her.
"AAAGGGG!" the other person screamed
I turned around and saw Tindra lying on her back with the little dragon sitting on her chest and staring at her face. When I looked closely it almost looked like the little dragon was smiling!
She sucked a lot of air into her mouth and then blew forcefully at the little dragon.
The dragon merely smiled at her.
Tindra became angry and started to shout at the dragon
"RAAAAGGGHHHH!" She screamed in his face
The dragon shook from the force of her scream but continued to sit on her chest smiling!
Tindra became more bold
"Hoorrggrrook!" she collected all the saliva in her throat
"Tuut" she spat the congealed saliva into the little dragons face
The little dragon stopped smiling and looked a bit angry.
Then he got a devious look on his face, he stood up straight and his eyes rolled into the back of his head and made several repeated sounds from his throat
I looked away knowing Tindra would not be happy
"HUURK HURRK HURRKAAA…" I heard from the dragon
Than a squelching sound
"GET OFF ME YOU STUPID LITTLE DRAGON!" Tindra roared
I turned back to Tindra to see the dragon calmly crawling off her chest and over to Cami
Tindra reached up and pulled half of a fish off her face and threw it in the direction the dragon was.
It didn't come anywhere close to hitting the little dragon which only infuriated Tindra more!
She stood up and stomped into the room we were just in.
After a moment she came back out with a lot of bandages in her arms and hurried up the stairs
Me and Cami looked at eachother; we were both worried; if she got bandages then that meant someone was hurt!
We both turned and raced up the stairs, the little dragon raced up behind us.
We got to the top deck and saw Bertha kneeling beside a body.
We rushed to her side and saw Thuggory unconscious.
I knelt down next to him and examined the most serious of his wounds; a large linear gash in his chest from the top of his ribs to just above his belly button.
The edge of the wound looked jagged.
"It looks sort of like he was cut with a bread knife." I stated curiously
Bertha looks at the edge of the wound but continues to bandage it.
"I think it was from when he jumped on the sharkworm, the serrated fin probably caused… this." she said pausing only to gesture at the wound
The wound was still bleeding more than I would like.
"Shouldn't we do something about the bleeding?" I asked
"There's nothing we can do." Bertha said
"I'm no expert on healing but can't you… burn the wound and something good happens." I said in an unsure tone
"I'm no medical expert either. I just know that we need to bandage it." Bertha stated
Tindra steps forward
"Let me do it." she said
Both me and Bertha quickly scooted out of the way
"I will need fire to cauterize the wound." she stated
We all looked around us; we were on a wooden boat, in the middle of clearly sharkworm territory! Not only that but the temperature would have to be perfect; too hot and it would kill him, too cold and it wouldn't work.
Then I realised what had happened only moments before; the little dragon had welded metal to wood, and did it perfectly!
"What about dragon fire?" I asked excitedly
Tindra looked at me like I had grown a second head
"Even if I liked that idea, which I don't. We don't have any normal fire, your dragon shoots some kind of plasma and his dragon could shoot acid for all I know!" Tindra declared
I knelt down and picked up Cami's dragon and held him out to Tindra
"Do you think i'm gonna use that thing? He's even worse than the other two!" Tindra exclaimed
Cami scowled but said nothing
No one said anything so Tindra sighed and spoke
"Fine, but I won't be happy about it."
"You don't need to be happy about it!" Cami snapped at her
Tindra remained silent and reached out to grab the little dragon out of my arms.
She turned back to Thuggory and set the little dragon on her knee so he was stable for what he was about to do.
"You might want to close your eyes guys." Cami said as she took her own advice
I closed my eyes as well.
Then I heard a faint whooshing sound and the smell of burning flesh permeated the air, I could also hear Tindra grinding her teeth. I couldn't tell if this was because she had a dragon touching her or if the flame was too bright.
Then as quick as it started it ended and the whooshing and the glow died down and the little dragon crawled back to Cami.
I looked at Thuggory's chest and it was no longer bleeding! In fact all it looked like now was a really bad burn!
Between this time and the time when he stopped the leak I could tell this little dragon has amazing control over his fire
Bertha moved back to Thuggory and began to wrap the gauze around his chest and stomach to make sure that even if the dragon fire didn't work (which I was sure it had) he wouldn't lose too much blood.
After that Shipwreck refused to leave the boat and sat in the middle of the deck wrapped around the still unconscious Thuggory
(1) many animals actually use body language to communicate so I thought why wouldn't dragon shark hybrids?
(2) as the scene is narrated by Cami the height of the water is approximate to her. eg when she says the water is knee high its at Cami's knees, as Hiccup is taller the water would be at his shins.
(3) technically the water would be WAY hotter than humans can handle, if you look up the temperature required to melt metal and then the temperature humans can withstand you'll see what I'm talking about. as they were in water in a locked room it could be like being inside a giant pot over the stove. but this is a fanfic so physics and rules don't apply.
so here is my weird question:
if you think about having an abortion and then don't have the abortion are you aborting an abortion?
