Chapter 55

Three months later, it was Tuesday, August 25. It was two days after SummerSlam. Colby (or more so Seth Rollins) had successfully defended the Universal Championship. Jackson and I had joined Colby for the weekend. SummerSlam had been in Boston, actually. So, I got to see my family and they got to see us. I was officially thirty-two weeks pregnant on August 23 the day of SummerSlam. This was going to be my last trip with flying to and from Davenport and anywhere else until after the baby was born. I couldn't really fly to and from anywhere after thirty-six weeks of being pregnant. Travel restrictions.

Now with-it being August 25, I was thirty-two weeks and two days pregnant. I was very happy. Both me and my baby girl were healthy. I contently sat stretched out in bed, watching TV. Colby was lying next to me with his head on my shoulder. He was sound asleep. I liked to fall asleep in his arms, but I liked it when he fell asleep in mine. I liked to return the favor to him, because he was always so attentive with me.

Jackson started crying. That woke Colby up.

"Jackson's crying?" Colby asked, sitting up in bed and looking right at me.

"Yep," I said. I got up from the bed.

"I can get him," Colby said with a yawn.

"No, I got it. Plus, I'm already up."

"All right."

I smiled. I headed out of the room and to Jackson's room. Jackson was standing up in his crib as I came into his room.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" I asked, turning on the light.

Jackson just cried and held his arms out for me.

"I got you." I lifted him from his crib. "Mama's got you."

I held Jackson in my arms, calming him down. "Do you need a diaper?" I asked. I placed him down on the changing table to see if he had a dirty diaper. He was all clean. He fussed a lot when I put him down. Once I had him back in my arms, he clung onto me.

"Awe, did you just want Mama to hold you? Well, she'll happily do that. Let's go see Daddy while we're at it."

I took Jackson back into Colby's and my bedroom. Colby was sitting up in bed as I walked in. I knew he was waiting for me.

"Everything okay?" He asked with a yawn.

"I think he just wanted to be cuddled," I said. "But he can get cuddled by both Mama and Daddy."

"Good idea."

I smiled, walking over to the bed.

"Hey buddy," Colby said, getting Jackson's attention.

Jackson looked at Colby.

"Hi."

"Daddy," Jackson said, reaching toward him.

"Yeah, go see Daddy," I said. I placed Jackson down on the bed. He quickly turned to Colby. Colby grabbed onto him and brought him to him. I got on the bed.

"You okay, buddy?" Colby asked, holding our son. "You've been sleeping so soundly lately."

"Maybe he had a bad dream," I suggested.

"Maybe. Don't worry, Jacks," Colby said. "Daddy will protect you."

"Mama as well," I said.

Jackson was happy to be in his daddy's arms. I saw Jackson going to sleep. I smiled. I got up from the bed.

"Where are you going?" Colby asked.

"I am going to pee. Then I am going to turn the lights off so we can all go to sleep."

"Another good idea."

A few minutes later, I climbed into bed with my husband and our son. I smiled as I moved over toward Colby. He was sitting up in bed still. He'd be this way for a little bit before placing Jackson down on the bed between us. He wanted Jackson to feel safe and content in his daddy's arms while sleeping. But he'd placed him down when he needed to. And if Jackson woke up, Colby or I could easily let Jackson know we were right there if he needed us. Sometimes you just needed to feel safe and secure.

"Okay," Colby whispered. He placed Jackson down on the bed between us.

"Night, baby," Colby said.

"Night," I replied.

We both moved on the bed so we go lean over Jackson and kiss each other good night.
