Part 28

Caitlin woke the morning of her wedding in her childhood bedroom. It was the first morning in five years that she had woken up without Barry next to her. But all her friends and even her parents convinced her that she had to go with tradition. She was not going to risk seeing Barry before the ceremony. She heard a knock on the door.

"Come in."

The door opened and her mom walked in with two cups of coffee from Jitters.

"A mocha chi latte. Barry told me that it was your favorite." Said Carla

"It is. Thanks mom."

"I should have known what your favorite coffee is."

"If it makes you feel better I don't think dad knows that."

"Well before you get ready I have something for you. Your dress is the something new. Nora is taking care of the something old. So you need something borrowed and something blue."

"Actually mom, there are some blue flowers in my bouquet."

"Then it is a good thing I have the something borrowed."

Carla handed Caitlin a box. Caitlin opened it to find her mom's diamond snowflake earrings.

"Those were a wedding gift from your father on our wedding day. Today you get to wear them. Though when I die they will be yours. I am leaving them to you in my will."

"Thank you mom."

"Caitlin, sweetheart I love you."

"Love you mom."

Carla hugged her mom and then the two of them headed downstairs to get breakfast. Just a light one for Caitlin seeing as she was both nervous and happy that today was the day that she was going to marry the man that she loved. The man who had she met twenty years ago. The man who had become her best friend. Who stood by her through all the ups and downs, and all the pains of growing up.

Barry laid in bed he had not slept well. He missed Caitlin by his side. It had been five years since he had slept alone. But after today he knew that his best friend would be sleeping by his side for the rest of his life. He got out of bed and walked out to the living room where Cisco was asleep on the couch. While Caitlin was with her parents Cisco spent the night on his couch to make sure that the two of them didn't try and sneak off to see each other.

"Hey Cisco wake up." Said Barry

"Barry, how can you be so happy at the but crack of dawn?" mumbled Cisco

"I am getting married today to the only woman I have ever loved."

"Yeah I get that, and I am truly happy for you and Caitlin. But there are some of us that have had no luck in love."

"Cisco, there is a woman out there for you. You just got to be patient."

"It is hard man. I mean come on Cynthia dumped me. Lisa is a criminal."

"Cisco, trust me there is a woman out there for you. You know maybe Patty Spivot is single."

"No offense but I don't want any girl you slept with or slept with that nut case Hunter Zolomon."

"I don't even understand why she ever got involved with Zolomon."

"Who knows. So Barry did you sleep at all last night?"

"Not very well. It has been a long time since I slept alone."

"Dude, you do know I think of Caitlin like a sister. I don't want to know what you are doing in that bed of yours."

"Cisco, most nights we just sleep curled up together. Cait really likes to cuddle."

"Stop talking about that stuff!"

"We really need to find you a woman."

"Yeah well maybe I will meet a cousin of yours or Caitlin."

"Sorry I don't have any single female cousins. Uh I think that both Cait's parents are only children."

"Old college friends then. I don't know. But there has to be a single woman at this wedding."

"Yeah I guess."

Caitlin walked into the church. She was with her mom and Nora. The other girls were meeting them there to get ready for the wedding. She followed her mom into the bride's room where Kara, Alex and Iris were waiting.

"So Caitlin are you ready to be married to Barry?" asked Iris

"I have been ready for this day most of my life. Which is why I don't understand why I am so nervous." Said Caitlin

"It is natural to be nervous. You are making a big change in your life." Said Carla

"Mom, I have loved Barry for as long as I remember. He is my best friend the first real friend I have ever had."

"Caitlin, you are one of the kindest people I know. Everyone who has been lucky enough to get to know the real you knows that." Said Iris

"Thanks Iris. That means a lot coming from you."

"I know that Barry is the real reason we became friends. But I am glad that we are." Said Iris

Iris hugged Caitlin and then the women got to work to get ready for the wedding.
