CURSED or BLESSED [28] : Let Me be Your Heart

Because Luffy was the only one who could steal his heart, albeit the fact that his heart wasn't in its respective place. Because Luffy was the shinning sun in his dark cold world.

"Stop that you dense Marimo! It's no use! Can't you see your Esenta leak out just like that?!" Sanji spat exasperatedly. Yet his hand was glowing red on Luffy's chest, trying hard to stop the bleeding from the dying little noirette.

"Shut up kuso-Nesatios! I can't let him die!" Zoro was still stubborn, licking the gaping wound, transferring his Esenta to his best friend slashed owner

"… Zo-… sthop it…." Luffy tried to push the beast's head away from his wound even though he was pushing nothing at all. It hurt, a lot! Even without him moving it was so fuckin hurt.

"Luffy, please… you have to hang on…" Sabo pleaded, his eyes wet with tears he couldn't hold. In his hug was Luffy covered with blood, panting hard, trying to catch his breath, yet that grin was still plastered on his face.

"I'm… trying- Shish-!" He couldn't finish his own trademark laugh, because of the harsh cough. A mouthful of blood came out together. His breath was getting more and more rag.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW, YOU FUCKER?!" Law – who was already away from the group – berated to his den-den mushi. Ace couldn't help but look at his partner. The death surgeon was furious and Ace had never saw him like that. He was the most emotionless demon he had ever know yet now.. it was a different story.

"BUT YOU DID THAT TO CO-" he abruptly stop for some seconds then he pleaded, like all of his life depend on it, "Please…. You have to…"

That made the fire demon flabbergasted. No way in hell, not even in heaven he had ever saw the death surgeon pleading like that, not even in his dream. But he understood… the death surgeon was already fallen too deep for Luffy. He wouldn't admit it though.

"Law…." Ace called to his partner, his voice was somber. The demon set his gaze to fire demon. Though his feature was still somewhat calm, his eyes told them everything. His usual emotionless self was now crumbled and all the anxiety was burning him. Law tighten his teeth, closing his eyes, he found another determination.

"If he died, even though I have to go against you, I will do it." The brunette demon said to his denden mushi. He didn't wait for the other party to answer and hung up just like that. He was walking back to the group and on the spur of the moment…

"LAW! WATCH O-!" Ace couldn't even finish his warning when exactly five harden shadows flew through Law's body, embed themselves into his shoulders, thighs and abdomen, effectively puncturing the death surgeon.

"GGHHHKKK!" seconds later he was kneeling in pain. Dark blood oozing from the holes, so did his mouth.

"…. Bastard…." He cursed, catching a glimpse of red behind him.

"UHAHAHA! Think you killed me?" mocked the voice. Diamante's hand was already changed into a long black spear, ready to make another hole on Law.

"FUCKER! I'LL KILL-!" Ace roared trying to lunge onto the annoying red demon to no avail. He was stuck in his spot, "WH-WHAT THE-!"

"ACE! Your legs!" Sabo warned the man.

"What the fuck is this?!" Sanji chided angrily.

"cloths..?" Zoro hissed in confusion, staring to some clothes that somehow already wrapped around their legs, making them unable to move.

"Hahaha! Even my power is enough to beat all of you!" Diamante laughed, while grabbing Law by his hair and tugging him so they faced each other, "where is it?!"

"Kheh…! You can try to search it for yourself." Law taunted him.

"You really are nuisance eh, surgeon of death." Diamante said. His tone was flat and somewhat low. He flicked his fingers and those ruins of the pillars flew to him. They huddled closer like a cyclone, but then after another flick of fingers from the red demon, the rubbles united together and shifting into a thin layer of cloth. The cloth flew around Diamante's hand, wrapping it and turned into one long sharp spear.

"Let see how will this end then…" Diamante smiled cynically, readying himself to embed his spear into the other demon.

"…. Kuu-haku..ka: Kass-….eika.."

"Heh…. Hehehehe! Yeah.. let us see…" the kneeling demon grinned, "Room:Shambles!" in a blink, Kikoku was already in his hand.

"Uahahaha! That sword again? Your trick won't work twi-" before he could finish all his words, Law swiftly beheaded him. Mouth still gapping, the traitor's neck slid down his body. He couldn't talk – no more.

"Yeah… it might be the same sword… but what under you isn't. Hmph… it might useless to tell you this though…." Law smirked, but seconds later he too, collapsed. Black blood was pooling under him.

"LAWW!" the fire demon – who had already released from the trap – quickly ran to catch his partner before he crashed onto the floor.

"The hell man…. Not you too." Ace bit his lower lip.

"No… I can't die. We can't… die, moron."

"But it was… H-Hey… what are you doing?"

"Him…. I have to… see him…"

"Stupid bastard!" Ace growled, helping the stubborn brunette, Ace steadied him and walked slowly to their favorite Farlig. Once they were close, Law quickly knelt beside his little Chibi. The one he always wanted but somehow, someway he always restrained himself not to show it to him. He denied what had grown for him. Because he was a demon. He couldn't be happy. No! He didn't deserve happiness, for what he had had done in his life. He didn't deserve anything, moreover someone who was always smile, always full of joy, someone who longed by everybody like him, like this Monkey D Luffy.

"Hey,,, chibi-ya…"

"T-….ao… y-.. you ok-…?"

"You still have time to worry… about me? In- that kind of…- c… condition?"

"Shi-.. shi….uhk…"

"You real-ly are.. stupid."

"be-… cau… yo- uh… spe-ci…al.."

"Wha-!"

"To…. I… I-…"

And then, Law saw him. That black cape. That one black thing. The one he didn't really care before, the one he didn't give a damn about his existence before. The one who was known by the name Grim Reaper.

"Y-you…." The death surgeon voice was trembling. The ghost wasn't seen by any of them except the demon. The reaper noticed that the man was taken aback with his appearance, what he didn't understand was the fact that he knew about the reaper's existence but he just never gave a damn about it. Not when he was working side by side like they always did. With his hollow eyes, the reaper fixated his gaze to the terrified demon. He saw what inside his dark night orbs, his desperate plead, he saw that sadness, he saw that despair, but he wasn't one to pity anything or anybody. The reaper was only a ghost who only had one job and one reason to exist, it was to take the dying people's life. He cowered at nothing and nothing at all. And nobody could stop him to do what he had to do.

An enormous scythe on his hands, readied to slash the dying Farlig, taking his life with him. As much as Law was trying to stop him, as hard as the demon was screaming, the reaper didn't bug. He swung his scythe.

The reaper froze for a while. Though he finished his job to collect the soul he needed to. He only needed one. But, he got only half, he got a demon soul. It should be more than enough.

"LAW!" Ace shrieked.

"T-…. To-…..!" Luffy's eyes widen in shock. It felt like his own heart had stopped. No! it couldn't be. What had happened? Who was him? Who was the man in black cape who was slashing his big scythe? Why was Law… why was Torao… why did Torao block the attack with his own body? Why?! He was the one dying, wasn't it? So why didn't Law… no Torao… why didn't Torao let him? Why did he shield him? WHY?!

The scythe slashed through the demon. No, no visible wound was formed, but the scythe did something else. It was his soul which took the damage. It was fatal, because soul was a demon life source.

"To….-ra..o…" Luffy called him again, moving his arm though it pained him, though the gash on his chest was excruciatingly painful, he didn't care. He needed to feel his demon. He needed to be sure he would be okay.

"Ch-… chibi-ya.."

"W-h.. why?"

"…. I don't know…. It moved… by itself… my bo- Ohok! Body…."

"Wh-… you will… be okay- ri…"

"If you… promise me to..- kkhh…. Stay wi-… me.. I'll…."

"You lie… again, right….?" The farlig asked. Tear was forming in his night orbs.

"Why would…. I?"

"I saw-… it…. something was… slashed…. Into- two…."

"….. I'm so-.. rry, I.. lie-….d to you…"

"Then why…?! WH-!"

"Bec-…. Because I -….. love you… baka- chib….i." his words were like whisper. It touched Luffy's heart. It made his dying body revived by only that confession of love. A short happiness, for they wouldn't – couldn't hold on any longer. Luffy could feel it. His life was evaporating ever so slowly, so did the handsome demon in front of him. And all because of him. again. He let someone died again, protecting him. Again. always. Why? Why his fate so fuckin cruel? Why did he have to be the reason a person has to die, moreover a person he loved the most. Tears rolled on his cheek.

"I'm so-… sorry… To-" and all of apologetic words died as Law plastered his lips onto him, swallowing all his guilty, all his sadness. Their first and last kiss.

"Do-…nt be… I'm the-… ghhhkk… should be…." He said smiling. Luffy answered his smile with the same thing, though this time it laced with sadness. Trembling, he raised his hand to reach his favorite demon's cheek. Law saw the gesture and quickly snuggled into it, savoring the warmth while it last.

"I… love you-.. too… To-ra…" but Luffy couldn't finish his sentence, for he was already engulfed by the darkness. His hand slipped off and fell limply.

"Luf-…." Before long, Law collapsed onto him. He closed his eyes, he could feel it, his soul was evaporating into nothingness. Then everything was dark.

"Luf-Luffy! No! No! NOO! You can't! You- you promise me you won't leave me alone! LUFFY!" Zoro barked, calling his friend, a friend who had saved him more than once back then.

"Luffy…. LUFFYY!" Sabo couldn't stop his tears from overflowing.

"Law…. Why the fuck…. What the hell?!" Ace roared in anger and desperation. Sanji couldn't say anything. He stayed shut, tears rolling, damping his cheek. His blue orbs fixated on nothing. He would never, NEVER dream such thing happened. No… it was him again right? It was his cursed again, right? This was because he was staying with them. IT was him again, right?! Sanji felt sick. He wanted to puke, he felt disgusted. He was disgusted with himself. He really had no reason to stay alive, had he? He should be dead. He should be dead long long time ago. He should give up on dreaming because he would only have a nightmare. A never ending nightmare. It was his fault. Everything was his fault. His cursed.

"I don't understand." Nami asked the witch.

"That's why we have to keep our eye on them."

"But, Robin… You said they are the key, right? So how…" Franky added another question.

"We have to believe in them."

"But why didn't we help them?" Nami bit her lower lip.

"It's not the right time, Nami. I know you want to help them so badly, but we can't distort the flow, or everything will be in chaos." Robin explained calmly, though both Nami and Franky caught the regret and distress in her voice. Franky quickly pulled the lady into his chest, patting her head, giving her courage.

"Yeah, we have to believe in them. They are our last hope." The man said with a firm determination.

"… I'll try." The red head stated.

[…. Where… am I?] He thought.

By the time he opened his eyes, he saw nothing but white. He felt so light despite everything. He floated in between the whiteness all around him. He didn't understand what had happened to him. Last thing he remembered was seeing a handsome brunette with blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. His face contorted with such pain but in the same time peaceful. He didn't understand for whom did the brunette make such face. Was it for him? What was the reason? The most important thing was why? He didn't understand. He didn't know him, wait… did he? If he really didn't know him then… why? Why seeing his painful expression could make his heart sting? He hated that expression. He didn't want to see it on his face. But, again… who was he?

He didn't want to think about anything anymore. His half-opened eyelids were getting heavier and he felt so… so comfortable. He wanted to close his eyes again, floating back into nothingness.

He was drifting back into his slumber, yet all of the sudden he heard a voice. A voice he knew long long time ago. A deep voice filled with warmth and pride and also… love. Abruptly, he jerked open his eyes, getting up into a sitting position despite he was aware he was still floating. He looked around, searching for the source of voice. He found nothing, nobody. He was alone. Just like that time. Tears formed in his eyes. He didn't want that. He didn't want to be lonely again. He couldn't stand it.

Then he heard it again. The voice. The voice he missed so much. A voice which always called him back when he was a little kid. The voice of his grandfather who was calling for him.

[Luffy.]

"Jiji! Jiji where are you?!"

[No need to look for me. I'm in your heart]

"What is the meaning of that?"

[You don't have to understand. Anyway… what the fuck are you doing here?]

"Ehh? Here? Where?"

[Oh god! This dense idiot! You're not supposed to be here!]

"Eh? But you are here Kuso Jiji. So why can't I?"

[Because he needs you.]

"He?"

[Yeah… him.]

Luffy frowned, looking to his sides to search for 'him' and there stood him. Luffy's night orbs widen in surprised. There he was, standing still with his usual cold apathetic calmness. That white spotted hat, that long black coat, that sturdy tattooed chest, the long sword which never out of his reach, that sulking handsome face, it was him.

"TORAOOO!" Luffy called for him, his pet name. But he didn't answer. He only smiled. Luffy quickly trotted towards him.

"Torao?" he called him once again, but he still didn't budge. Luffy frowned again, "what happened?"

And then Law was smiling. One sad smile, the only smile Luffy didn't want to see, because he hated it. He hated it when his Torao smiled like that. It pained him, It stung his heart. His heart couldn't stand the pain… was it only that? No, it was something else. It was…

Luffy quickly grabbed his chest. Then he realized… he just remembered everything. The blood on his hand, on his chest, the pain he felt, that eerie gash on his chest. He was… dead. So that was why he was here. He used all of his last power to active the nullifying power so the demon who wanted to kill Law couldn't succeed. He had bartered it with his own life. So… so why was Torao also here? He didn't die right…? He… didn't…..

He died.

He died too.

He died protecting Luffy from that thing in the dark cape.

No!

NO!

NO!

"BUT WHY?! WHY TORAOO!? I GAVE YOU MY LIFE! WHYYY?" Luffy cried. He didn't even realize he was hitting the taller man's chest.

"TORAOO! Answer me! To-….rao…"

Albeit the hitting, despite the angry question, Torao was hugging him. Torao was clinging onto him. And then… and then a chaste kiss on his forehead, before the demon release the hug. Luffy saw his mouth was moving, but no voice he could hear. Luffy felt his heart sank when he read the movement of the lips. 'I love you' was what it should had been sound. However, before Luffy could response, before Luffy could answer, the demon ripped his own heart. Torao was ripping his own heart, from his own chest, with his own hand. Luffy couldn't move, he froze on his spot. Why… WHY?! Was the only thing popping up in his mind. Dark blood spurted like broken dam from the opened gash, pooling under the demon, but he didn't seem to care. Limply, Law moved closer, he put his own heart onto Luffy's hand, a dark red thumping heart. He grabbed Luffy's wrist then he moved that hand towards his chest in which an X wound was carved. The thumping heart shone before it disappeared into Luffy's chest. Luffy's brain was numb, he couldn't think about anything. Seconds after the grip on his wrist was released, his mind started to work again.

"Torao!" Luffy called him again. Torao just smiled, with blood still oozing from his chest, trickled down from his mouth. That sad smile again, that painful expression again and now… now he was getting further and further away. Luffy was in shock. NO! NOT AGAIN! He didn't know which was more painful. The fact that his chest bore an opened wound or the fact that sad smile still lingered on that handsome feature, or the fact Law was getting away from his sight. Luffy ran towards him. He ran and ran but he didn't – couldn't get closer.

"TORAO! DON'T LEAVE ME!" just when he was done shouting, Torao was there in front of him. His expression was taken aback, but now… there was a pink hue coloring his cheek. Luffy panted. He walked closer. He was now in front of him, though he was only standing there, staring at Luffy. The boy closed his eyes for a few seconds and he found his strength back. With determination, he opened his eyes, staring back into those enigmatic onyx orbs of Law.

"Torao…I love you." Luffy confessed. Torao eyes widened, his face was reddened and the demon averted his gaze, in somewhat embarrassed manner. Luffy grinned. He stepped closer again, trying to reach the demon cheek. Then he was gone. He turned into dark blood, dropped just like that pooling into the floor. Luffy was aghast. No… NO..! NOOO!

"TORAAAAOOOOOOO!"

* HnO HnO HnO HnOHnOHnOHnO HnO HnO HnO HnO HnO HnO *

"LUFFYY!" both were calling for him. Sabo caught his flailing hand, Zoro stood deftly. Luffy jerked into a sitting position as fast as he opened his eyes. He was panting hard, drenched with his own sweat. Luffy couldn't understand what had happened, one time he was in a white room, and now he was in a… dark room. Wait, wasn't this his own room? But he couldn't care less. The thing he needed the most now was…

"Wh-… where is Torao?! Where is he?!" the boy asked hastily.

Before he got any answer, Sabo was already tangled onto him, hugging him tightly. It just like if he let go, Luffy would disappear.

"S...- Sabo...?" The noirette hugged him back when he felt the blond was trembling.

"I'm so... glad you okay..." he said, his voice was cracking and... Luffy felt something warm on his shoulder. Was... Sabo crying?

"You really made us worry, you know." Added the beast beside him. Luffy's gaze fixated on him. Zoro's face was red, eyes were glistening with tears he didn't dare to spill. But why? Why were they look so sad? What happened to him?

"What... had happened?" Luffy asked confused. He didn't understand what had happened. Hearing that question, Sabo quickly parted their hug and stared at Luffy in disbelief.

"Wh-what?" Luffy asked again.

"You... you didn't remember?" The blond asked back.

"I- i don't know what are you talking about."

"You were nearly died back then Luffy!" Zoro started wasting no time to explain. It was just Zoro being Zoro.

"I- I was? S.. so it wasn't a dream?"

"Dr- dream?! I wish it was! But no! It was real! You were in verge of dead!" Sabo blurted out.

"Th-... then Torao?!"

"To-Torao?"

"Where is he?!"

"Torao is..."
