TANJIROU
Tanjirou's cell was opened and standing in the doorway was Mujōna with a mischievous grin on her face. While staring at her large stomach, a sense of love and devotion for her crept into his mind. He quickly batted the thought away, disregarding the temptation to submit.
"Where is she?" Tanjirou demanded.
"Just follow me, Tanjirou," Mujōna sighed.
The two demons walked down the many shifting hallways and stairs until they eventually reached a chamber. In the chamber was Kanao, who had her back turned to the wall.
"Enjoy," Mujōna said as she took Tanjirou's chin and made him look into her eyes. Then, she left the chamber.
"K-Kanao?" Tanjirou said, slowly approaching her. As he got closer, he saw that she was curled up in a ball, her head was resting on her legs. "Kanao, are you ok—"
He paused when Kanao lifted her head; the girl was now a demon as well. Purple stripes were on her cheeks, and the white marking of a flower was in the middle of her forehead. Her eyes were now a bright magenta with slit-pupils, and her claws were magenta as well.
Deep down, he found her beautiful and attractive, causing his heart to skip a beat.
"Kanao…"
"So, you can talk? I thought you were just going to stare at me," she sighed. "Look, I thought I was going to see one of my sisters. Queen Mujōna said, or implied, that one of their lives were at stake, but… its only you."
He mentally winced at the sound of her saying 'Queen Mujōna' so… freely. "Kanao—"
"Could you say something else, please? I don't feel like doing this right now."
Understanding what she meant, Tanjirou sat down beside her in silence for a few minutes.
"I may have a plan to escape, but she's probably listening to us. I think it may—"
"Shut it, Tanjirou," Kanao suddenly said. She glanced at him with an unreadable expression and continued resting her head on her legs.
What's wrong with her?
"Kanao, I'm telling you that I have a way to escape, and you tell me to be quiet? Is something wrong?"
She let out a loud, exasperated sigh. "Of course, somethings wrong! The fact that you're still trying to escape is what's wrong!" She then stood and began pacing around.
What?
"We must escape from this place! We have to return to our friends. Don't you want to—"
"Look, the only people I really want to see are my sisters. Besides that, I'm fine with being here," Kanao said.
Tanjirou gasped and paused. His brain couldn't comprehend what she was saying but something deep down knew exactly what she meant.
S-she's content with staying here?
"…Kanao?"
The girl growled at him, bearing her fangs. She had an angry look in her eyes, like how a bear would look after you awaken it. Kanao was completely different from the girl she was before.
"You don't mean what you say, Kanao. It's okay; we're all under a lot of stress. I can help us escape!"
"I don't want to leave!" she laughed. "This is where I belong."
No.
Tanjirou stood frozen, still in immense shock.
She's been corrupted! I-I must save her! Yet, why can't I move?
"I'm much happier here. For the first time in my life, I feel wanted; accepted. I never knew that demons could be so… loving," she said, slowly approaching him.
"Kanao, this isn't you; this is Mujōna's influence! You must fight it; you're a Demon Slayer!"
"Stop implying that I'm incapable of making my own choices! Queen Mujōna isn't influencing me at all; this is me saying this! I'm happy here, Tanjirou."
No.
"What do you think Kanae and Shinobu will think of this, Kanao?" he yelled.
Kanao started to laugh even louder. "They'll be converted as well, Queen Mujōna promised me. She even gave me this," she said as she pulled out a collection of darts. The tips of the darts were coated in a red liquid.
Blood.
"Tanjirou, we must convince the others to submit. This is the only way we can stop the bloodshed."
Tanjirou stared backing away from her, still in immense shock. "Argh, you're too far gone! Mujōna, you vile demon!"
"Don't speak ill of her or say her name in vain, you idiot!" Kanao barked. "Your insubordination is going to get everyone killed!"
"Oh, so our submission won't as well? You're too corrupt for me to save, Kanao."
"Because I don't want to be saved, Tanjirou! If we want the remaining slayers to stay alive, we must convince them to submit. I don't want my friends to die; do you?"
Tanjirou stared at her with a bewildered, horrified expression. As his mind and soul steadily became weary, the mental urge to submit intensified. Seeing the woman he had hidden feelings for become an entirely different person took a great toll on him.
Kanao walked closer to him, holding the case of darts open. "This should be enough to save all of them."
MUZAN
Frightened by what just happened, Muzan opted to speak with Upper Moon 4, Nakime; the demon had some degree of psychic powers and could sense a curse lightyears away. Frantically teleporting himself to her usual spot, he made sure as to compose himself before she saw him; the Demon Lord hated showing any signs of weakness.
Nakime sat with Kamabisushii in the throne chamber. The two demons worked with each other to handle all teleportation, portals, and shifting. Ultimately, they were the foundation of the Dimensional Infinity Fortress.
Upon sensing his presence, the two demons kneeled before him. Usually, seeing demons scramble to worship and kneel before him flattered Muzan, but not right now.
My child's wellbeing is at stake. I don't know what curse that bitch cast on us, but I refuse to take any chances!
"Nakime, I need your assistance," Muzan said.
"Anything for you, My Lord," Nakime replied.
"Do you sense any curses on me at the moment?"
Nakime moved her bangs, revealing her one large eye. She stared at her Master for a few moments, then her eyes widened in disbelief. She gasped and stuttered, not understanding what she discovered.
"What is it? Nakime, tell me this instant!" he barked.
"M-Master... a curse has been put upon you by a powerful sorcerer..."
"Yes, I know that!" Muzan roared, making the two demons tremble. "Is that all you know about it?"
"W-well, it's too powerful for me to decipher what it is exactly, but I do know that it's a spell fueled by hate. My Lord, whoever casted this upon you loathes you."
"So, what must I do about it, Nakime? Do you have any actual answers or are you too incompetent?" he roared, releasing a vicious, distressing aura.
Nakime winced at the change of the atmosphere.
"Answer me, Nakime!"
"M-My Lord, you have to handle whoever placed this upon you. That's all I know, Master. I apologize."
Tamayo.
Without a word, Muzan teleported back to his quarters. He cleared everything off his desk and sat in his chair, trying to relax.
I need to confront that wench once again. I refuse to let anyone, or anything harm my child!
The Demon Lord attempted to enter a meditative state, but he couldn't calm himself; all seven of his hearts were racing frantically. His reaction was innate; a father's feeling when their young is threatened.
Muzan felt like destroying the entire Earth in one swipe and maiming Lady Tamayo over a trillion times. He felt like tearing off his flesh and engulfing Hell itself.
His child's wellbeing was in danger, and it hadn't even been welcomed into the world yet.
His child's wellbeing was in danger, and he was the reason why.
My gloating is the reason why this has happened! Shit, why did I have to speak to that bitch? Why did I have to—Fuck!
Muzan inhaled and exhaled deeply, trying to calm himself. He thought about how they successfully dominated most of the slayers and all of his other victories in life. He found himself relaxing somewhat, but it wasn't enough. Then, he started thinking about Mujōna.
Images of meeting Himari for the first time flooded his mind: her beauty, her smile, her heart and soul. Visions of their first time having sex made him smile and purr. He then recalled the night he transformed her into The Queen; how sweet and sensual their lovemaking was. Muzan swore that was the night she conceived.
Mujōna...
The Demon Lord was officially relaxed. With that, he closed his eyes and entered his subconscious.
After walking down the many hallways of souls, he soon found Tamayo's floating head. A sinister grin was spread across her face as she began laughing maniacally upon seeing Muzan.
"Aw, you've returned like I knew you would! You're like a dog with a bone, Muzan."
"You insolent harlot, you've crossed the fucking line. Remove that fucking curse right now!" he roared. Multiple black veins started growing on his body, emphasizing his fury.
"Or what, you'll kill me? Hah! You can't hurt me any more than you've already have!"
"Is that what you think, Tamayo?" Muzan spat, his flesh bubbling. "Because Yushiro would beg to differ."
Yushiro's soul was pulled from the wall of spirits and brought towards Tamayo. She gaped in horror as she watched Yushiro's soul cry out to her.
"L-Lady Tamayo, help me! Help—"
"That's enough of him," Muzan said darkly, smiling. Then, his body slowly became covered in a black mass that had demonic mouths and teeth. His crimson eyes glowed and widened like never before. On his forehead were bumps, indicating that two horns were threatening to grow. Muzan's handsome face began to change, looking evil and demonic.
"Remove the curse, Tamayo," he said in a low, guttural voice.
Tamayo gasped in terror at the sight of him. If she had a body, she would be trembling in fear. The woman had never seen Muzan this angry, even after she didn't assist him after his encounter with Yoriichi.
"M-Muzan, I—"
"I won't ask again," he said.
Muzan's head started twitching violently, then began to split open. His head slowly opened, revealing rows of demonic teeth and eyes. The demonic maw began expanding, coming closer to Tamayo. Tentacles started to wrap around her head, bringing her closer to the monstrosity that was once Muzan.
"No, please! Please stop, I'll do what you want!" Tamayo pleaded, sobbing.
Satisfied with her surrender, Muzan released her and started to change back to normal. In seconds, the grotesque beast disappeared, and the handsome male demon stood in its place. He beamed at her with a smile baring sharp fangs. He looked perfect, as if nothing happened; not even a strand of hair was out of place.
"Now, do whatever it is you do best," he said.
Tamayo cleared her throat and composed herself, looking into his red eyes. "I-uh..."
"Hurry up and remove the curse, Tamayo."
"A-about that, Muzan… I don't actually know how to, but I know someone who does!" she blubbered, fearing what he might do to her and Yushiro.
"A witch that doesn't know how to remove her own curses; how inept. Now, tell me!" he roared.
"T-there is a small, poor village called Uta. A blind young woman named Fumen Murata lives there. She possesses the gift of clairvoyance and it is said that she can remove any curse. I knew and remained in contact with her, but that was before you killed me…"
"Uta, hm? Alright, I'll find her. If I figure out that you're lying, there'll be Hell to pay," he snapped. Muzan then exited his subconscious.
Breathing heavily, Muzan knew what he had to do next.
I must find this Fumen Murata.
With that, he teleported to the human realm.
KOKUSHIBOU
After completing what Muzan had asked, Kokushibou went to his usual place; the top of a mountain in one of the simulations. He sat under a sakura tree, his red mane blowing in the wind.
This is peaceful.
Then, he closed his eyes and entered a meditative state. Not only did Kokushibou constantly train physically, but he trained mentally as well; the demon took the mantra 'The body is only as strong as the mind,' very seriously. In his subconscious, he constantly fought his brother, Yoriichi.
Yoriichi stood with a nonchalant expression, his red hair flowing in the wind. Kokushibou stood farther away from him, gripping his sword.
"This is a waste of time, Michikatsu."
"Kokushibou; my name is Kokushibou and you will respect that."
"I cannot respect a man who doesn't respect himself."
With that, Kokushibou charged towards Yoriichi. Yoriichi stood idly, not concerned about the skilled samurai charging at him. Once Kokushibou was close enough to attack, Yoriichi leapt in the air, dodging his attack. The samurai landed perfectly on his feet.
He didn't even draw his sword.
"Of course, I didn't draw my sword. I don't need a weapon to defeat a chained man," Yoriichi said.
Kokushibou looked down to see that he was, indeed, wrapped in chains. With a stoic expression, the demon used his rage to break free. Then, he sprinted towards Yoriichi again, aiming for his abdomen. Once again, the samurai dodged him effortlessly.
"Draw your sword, Yoriichi. I refuse to be coddled any longer." Kokushibou tightened the grip of his sword and stood in a combative stance.
"The sun is nice today, isn't it?" Yoriichi suddenly said. With a faint smile on his face, the samurai sat cross-legged in the grass, staring directly into the sun. "Isn't it?"
Now's my chance.
A blazing rage festered within the demon, fueling his attacks. Kokushibou charged towards the sitting samurai with lightening speed.
I have you now.
Once he was close enough, Kokushibou went in for the kill. Faster than light itself, Yoriichi dodged the sword and tripped the demon with his leg.
Kokushibou fell flat on the ground.
Standing over him, Yoriichi said, "Never underestimate one who stares at the sun."
Then everything went black.
Kokushibou exhaled deeply, holding in the urge to scream. Even in his subconscious, a place where he could make anything happen, he still couldn't defeat his brother. With a sigh, he began to leave, but paused once he felt a presence.
Her.
Hiding behind a bush was the white-haired female demon, Nodoka. The girl had been watching him for a few minutes, too timid to approach him.
Kokushibou ignored her and continued to leave. The samurai walked by her bush, not even glancing in her direction. Suddenly, he heard her come out from the bush and stared at her. The girl stared blankly at him, refusing to blink. The two demons stared at each other for a long period of time, both of them refusing to blink.
Then, something internal told him to walk towards her. Kokushibou walked towards her, causing her to back away. Understanding that was too much for her, he slowed down and took only one step.
Nodoka gently nodded and waited.
Then, he took another step closer.
Then another.
Then another.
Then another.
Then another until they were standing face to face with each other. Kokushibou towered over her as she gazed into his many eyes. They stood like that for a few moments until Nodoka suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
Kokushibou hesitated for a moment, then surrendered. Their tongues wrapped deliciously around each other. Time itself paused while they kissed each other deeply.
Nodoka inhaled his earthy, strong scent, her heart skipping a beat. His lips felt as soft as clouds that carried waves of warmth to her. He pulled her in even more, dominating her mouth with vigor.
After many minutes, Nodoka pulled away from his grasp. She composed her and smoothed out of her, staring at him. Kokushibou saw a strand of hair that was out of place and fixed it for her. After assuring that she looked normal, he nodded.
Nodoka returned the favor and tucked a strand of his hair behind his ear, then nodded. Then, the two demons went their separate ways and went about their day.
AKAZA
Akaza had been traveling endlessly for months. In the day, he would hide in caves or bury himself underground and in the night, he would travel aimlessly.
Months before, the pink-haired demon acknowledged that he wasn't safe at all. After hearing that Queen Mujōna had risen, he knew that it was only a matter of time until Muzan Kibutsuji would search for him.
At the first chance Akaza had, he left the Demon Slayers and went on his own path. He couldn't let his presence endanger the slayers even further; he didn't want that kind of guilt on his heart.
Akaza had left Asia months ago; he was now somewhere in Europe. During his journey, he realized that the entire world was changing drastically; the world was an anarchy, more demon attacks were being reported, and cities were overrun. Humans were scurrying to safety and only left their houses for emergencies.
I guess this is their way of taking over.
Akaza was in his human form, trying to find his prey. Having caught the smell of victims nearby, he dashed through the dark forest. Then, he peered through the trees and saw a group of three men bothering a young woman.
"Why don't you take a ride with us, sweetheart?"
"Yeah, come back with us! We're having a party!"
"Look at how cute she is."
The girl trembled in between them, trying to escape but they blocked her every time.
Perfect.
With lightning speed, Akaza darted from the trees and slashed all three of their throats. The men fell to the ground, dying in seconds. He sat perched above her in the trees, waiting for her to leave.
The woman stood immobilize, horrified by what just happened. The creature that killed the three men was nowhere to be found, so she was on edge. Annoyed by her refusal to run away, Akaza jumped down in front of her.
"Leave," he said.
The woman jumped at the sudden sound of his voice and screamed, but stopped once she saw him. Before her was an attractive man with the longest eyelashes, who couldn't possibly be a demon.
"Oh my… you saved me! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she said, bowing.
"Yeah, whatever. Now leave," Akaza sighed.
"Wait, I'm not finished thanking you! I live at a village nearby, and I'd like to offer you a meal as thanks! Please don't reject my offer; I'll feel bad for the rest of my life," she laughed.
The idea to turn into a demon and scare her away came across his mind, but something deep down told Akaza to accept her offer.
The men can wait. I'm not as hungry anyway.
With a smile, the woman took his hand and guided him back to her village.
