Felix sat with Phoebe at the bar in the Club that night while presently discussing how Prue had been on a one track mind regarding Demons since they'd been sent on their most recent time travel trip. His present comment about this was, "I understand the threat and don't take it lightly, but Prue can't make it her entire life. I've seen enough Witches in my time do that and it never ends well." He made sure to say 'Witches' in a hushed tone.
"It doesn't help that she's convinced the same Demon that we saw a couple weeks ago in the Attic is the same one who was trying to kill us in the past," Phoebe commented as she sipped at her drink.
Felix's brow furrowed in question. "What Demon from a couple weeks ago?"
Phoebe thought he knew about this already. "The really creepy one in the Attic. You know, the big black and red one?" Based on his expression she could tell he had no idea what she was talking about. "I really didn't mention this to you?"
Felix tried to not make it out like this was far more dire than a random Demon in the Attic. "What did they look like again?"
Phoebe shrugged a bit as she thought about it. "Big, tall, bald. Red skin with black markings. And the teeth, those things were scary." She was getting hit with a vibe that there was more to his question than just wanting to know. "Why?"
"Just curious." Felix looked at his watch and picked his fedora off the bar. "I have an elixir to make for a Coven member. I better get going." He gave Phoebe a quick, soft kiss on her lips before leaving the Club.
Piper noticed how quickly he left and went around to Phoebe. "Why's he running off so quickly?"
"Coven stuff," Phoebe sighed and looked over towards Shawn who was supposed to be Prue's date but had been stood up by her again. Because of this, Phoebe addressed one of the bartenders. "Abby, why don't you give him another drink. He looks like he needs it."
Eva paced back and forth in her Loft as she processed what Felix had told her about the Demon Phoebe and Prue saw in the Attic a couple weeks ago. She couldn't accept that it was them – she just couldn't. Eva shook her head and sat down on the couch beside Felix. "No. No, it can't be him." She took her beer bottle from the coffee table in front of her and took a quick drink.
Felix turned to face her better because Eva was clearly in denial. "Who else could it be, Eva? He must have sensed Mara's use of her Power and followed it." He took the bottle from Eva's hand and took both her hands in his own. "Maybe this is a good thing. The next time he attacks we will Vanquish him once and for all."
Eva squeezed her brother's hands and nodded in agreement. "Mara can never know."
"When you finally told me the truth, I swore I would keep your secret, you know this. Belthazor is nothing more than the monster that killed Lincoln, and for that he will die." Felix would make sure that Demon never caused harm to his sister or niece again.
Eva hugged Felix tightly before pulling away to tend to her tears. Once she was finished with the tissue that Felix handed to her, she asked, "Do you know where Mara is right now?"
"The last I knew she was at the Library with Prue and Bash. Apparently Prue wanted to learn more about the village they visited and Bash's human lineage." He made sure to add in before Eva could ask, "Don't question why she didn't ask us about it. We weren't from that village and I doubt Mara would believe us anyway. Besides, do you really want to have the conversation about how Lena was behind kidnapping Melinda's mother?"
Eva really couldn't argue with him about any of that and cleared her throat before moving on. "Mara must have gotten over the whole 'you're a Whitelighter because of me' thing with Bash. She really felt like she dictated his destiny there." Eva shook her head with a scoffed chuckle. "Time travel is a finicky thing and I'll be damned if Bash isn't the best at it." She knew she'd said it before, but damn is still boggled her mind.
"He certainly has a knack for keeping the timelines in place. It could have been so easy for him to tell Mara everything, but he let things play out as they were meant to." Felix stood up and grabbed the empty beer bottles to get them a couple more. "We got off topic again. Right now we should be discussing the plan to Vanquish Belthazor."
"We can't do anything without the key ingredient." Eva had to point out the obvious there. "Maybe the Demoness can draw him out and…"
Felix cut her off there. "Do you really think that's the best idea? I mean, will the Demoness have full control over their…instincts – for lack of better term?"
Eva didn't have an answer for him, because she honestly wasn't sure. "Fair enough. What ideas do you have?"
Felix handed Eva a new bottle of beer as he pondered over the question. "We could always wait for them to appear again. If it's Mara they want, they're going to come back eventually."
Eva tapped her finger on the top of her glass bottle. "I don't like the idea of just sitting back and waiting."
"Until a better idea comes along, I think that's all we can do." Felix certainly didn't have any other thoughts on another plan that didn't involve using someone as bait.
Eva couldn't help but find some slight humor in their conversation. "Between all the years between us, how can we not come up with anything better than that?"
Felix took a drink and shrugged. "Just because we're old doesn't mean we smart."
Eva practically spit out her beer when he said that and shared with him a much-needed comic relief.
Mara sat beside Prue on the car ride home and looked at all the papers of notes that Bash had helped them with given the history of the town, his brother Micah, and their lineage. "I swear I have learned more about Bash tonight than I have during the whole time I've known him."
"He was able to share more with you now that the timelines met up. No risk of spoilers." Prue figured that had to be the reason why Bash was more open about his history than before. She took that moment to digress from the subject a little bit. "So how did that conversation go between you and Bash when we got back? We haven't really had a chance to talk about it."
"Well I certainly felt better when he assured me that I gave him a second chance at life when I made that decision and he didn't resent me for it." Mara closed the folder holding the paperwork on her lap. "I think that's what I was worried about the most – whether or not he'd resent me for what happened."
"I understand your worries in that moment, but, Mara, if he resented you don't you think he'd have shown it by now? I mean, he's been living with that knowledge for centuries." Prue looked away for a moment to make sure Mara was really
Mara really couldn't argue with her there. "Yeah, well, my emotional brain didn't really match up with my logical brain at the time."
Prue couldn't help but chuckle, "Clearly."
Mara narrowed her eyes at her. "You're so lucky you're driving right now."
Prue simply grinned in reply before answering a cellphone call from Phoebe that just so happened to remind her she was standing up her date…again.
When Mara and Prue got home the front door was wide open. They paused on the porch long enough for Mara to comment, "The last time this happened there was a Shapeshifter dog on the stair landing."
"At least we're better equipped to deal with anything like that this time." Prue looked at Mara to make sure she was okay with going in. "I understand if you'd rather wait out here for the 'all clear'."
Mara looked at her like she was crazy. "You're stuck with me. Let's go."
The pair slowly entered the Manor and found not only were all the lights off but every mirror in the house was broken. This did not seem like it was going to bode well for them but if the being that caused that was still in the Manor then they were going to deal with it.
Prue gestured for them to split up and cover more ground in the search and when Mara nodded and headed for the stairs, she went into the living room. She didn't spend long in that room before something came out of nowhere and tackled her onto the sofa. Prue quickly reacted by using her Power to throw the being right out the glass windows in the solarium.
Mara practically ran down the stairs when she heard the crash and found a stunned Prue sitting on the sofa looking like she was trying to catch her breath. "Prue!"
"I'm okay," Prue assured as Mara rushed to her side. "I think I'm more surprised than hurt."
"I shouldn't have agreed to splitting up." Mara ran a hand through her hair with a sigh before admitting something. "The Attic door was open."
Prue was about to tell Mara not to worry about having split up but she was more focused on the fact that the Attic door was open. "We keep that door locked now."
"I know," Mara answered as she got up and turned on the lights, "which is why I think we need to call your sisters and Darryl."
"Why would we call Darryl? This is obviously a Demon problem. Do you not see all the broken mirrors?" Prue didn't doubt it was anything else besides a Demon attack.
"I'd rather all our bases are covered, Prue. I'm sure you recall the other times a Demon has used a human to do their dirty work." Mara raised her brow in a 'you know exactly what I'm talking about' manner before turning on more of the lights and grabbing the house phone that she handed over to Prue. "Make the calls."
Prue sighed and took the phone from Mara. When Mara headed for the stairs, she called out to her, "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to the Loft to see if my mom knows anything about Mirror Demons that aren't Kali." Mara paused on the railing and turned around to say, "I'll be a Doorway away if you need me."
Prue nodded to indicate that she heard her and went on to call her sisters and, yes, Darryl too.
Mara walked into the Loft through the Doorway and called out as she went, "Anyone home?" Of course her question was instantly answered when she spotted Felix and Eva sitting on the couch in the living room area. "Good, you're here. I need the Tome."
When Eva pointed over to her desk against the wall where the Tome was placed, Mara went right over to it while saying, "You know, in the future apparently the Book and Tome were fused together as one. When is that going to happen? Because it'd really make things more convenient."
Eva and Felix shared a look with each other before Felix hesitantly said, "Spoilers." Honestly, he didn't have the answer for that and neither did Eva. Of course they knew it was possible for the Magics of the Warrens and the Sibleys to fuse together as one, but they didn't know how it would happen.
Mara rolled her eyes at his answer and sat down on the chair across from them. She plopped the Tome on the coffee table and called out, "Bash?"
A moment later, Bash Orbed in beside her with a joking, "We haven't been apart for five minutes and already you want to see me?"
"Shut up," Mara joked back and got serious. "Could you check in with your sources or whatever about Demons or anything that can travel through mirrors?"
"What happened?" Eva wanted to know as she sat up straighter in her seat and set her beer bottle aside.
"When Prue and I got home tonight, the door was wide open and all the mirrors in the house were broken. Prue got tackled by something or someone and sent them flying. I have her calling Daryll in case it was a human attacker, but I'd rather know for sure."
Bash nodded after this intake of information. "I'm on it." He gave Mara a kiss before whispering to her, "Please be careful."
"Will do." Once Bash Orbed away, Mara turned her attention to Eva and Felix. "Do either of you know of anything that has to do with mirrors?"
Felix picked up his bottle and answered, "Other than Kali, no. Well, except for M-A-R-Y."
Mara looked at her uncle in a confused manner. "Why did you spell Mary?"
Even Eva thought that was a tad ridiculous. "You can say the name Felix, as long as Bloody isn't put in front of it."
Mara was about to open the Tome, but this held her attention for the time being. "Hold on, you're telling me that Bloody M-A-R-Y is real?"
Felix nodded. "Oh, yeah. She's real and she's scary. Of course when humans try to summon her it doesn't work, but if a Magical being says her name three times then all bets are off. So it, of course, can't be her. Not unless one of you at the Manor said it."
Mara shook her head and flipped open the Tome. "Moving on." She held her hand over the pages. "Beings that travel through mirrors." The Tome flipped to the passages about Bloody Mary and Kali, and how mirrors be used as portals if accessed correctly, but no mention of the mirrors being broken in the process. "There goes that idea. I better get back and see how things are going. The Sisters must have gotten done with Daryll by now."
Eva got up to stop Mara from going anywhere. "Mara, given your condition maybe you should sit this one out." An idea came to her mind then. "Perhaps even go to the Coven's gathering grounds for a little while? There is always someone there so you won't be alone."
"I'm not going to die, Mom," Mara assured her. "I'm not going to risk my kid being a Triskele and never being able to have anything to do with them. Which I still think is ridiculous. Who cares if the Triskele Immortality is different? The Infinity Coven shouldn't have tried to eradicate them."
"There is a long history between the Covens, Mara. A long line of resentment and hate. Perhaps that can change one day, but today is not that day, so please be careful." Eva didn't try to stop her then and let Mara go back through the Doorway. Eva saw the look on Felix's face and held up her hand with a, "Not now."
"She's gonna find out eventually, Eva. Why not give her the history lesson? She's a Sibley, it's her history too, she's allowed to know." Felix, once again, cleaned up the empty bottles from the room.
"Oh, yeah, that'd be great. Hey, Mara, guess what! Not only was the Infinity Coven founded by a Sibley but the Triskelion one as well. How did that happen? Well, there were two sisters. The younger was jealous of the elder's powers so the younger sister tried to create the potion to strip their Immortality but they didn't have the exact rare ingredient so they improvised and thus the elder sister was turned into a Triskele Witch instead. And since they originated from the same Magics that's why an Immortal Witch can be turned into a Triskele one if certain things happen." Eva scoffed heavily. "How well do you think that's gonna go over, that the hatred between the Covens is because of a goddamn family feud?"
"You forgot the fact that the younger sister eventually did give the elder sister a True death and blamed it on the Trinity and used that to ignite the Coven War and get the Triskeles on her side. That she was avenging her death and blah, blah, blah." Felix grinned and this time grabbed two glasses of milk and the package of cookies from the cupboard. "You're not going to be the leader of the Coven forever, Eva. Like I said, she's going to find out eventually."
"We've got so much other stuff to deal with that's far more important, Felix." Eva rubbed her temples because she felt like she was getting a migraine. "Sometimes I swear I need a bulletin board of events and different colored string to keep our family history together."
Felix handed Eva the milk and opened the package of cookies as he sat down beside her. "And unfortunately we're no close to finding out who the Triskele Jumper is."
Eva scoffed a chuckle and in a non-serious manner replied to that with, "Knowing our luck it'll be a Sibley."
During Cole's latest trip to the Triad, he discovered that another Demon had been sent to kill the Charmed Ones and convert the Sibley Immortals to the dark end of the spectrum. Cole wasn't going to let that happen. For one thing – he wasn't going to let another Demon have the glory of killing the Charmed Ones, and for another – he had his own plan for the Sibley Immortals.
Cole knew it was late but also knew Eva would be up anyway. He made a casual phone call to check in and confirm their plans for later that week. Based off the tone of her voice he could tell something was off, so he used that opening to ask her what happened. Of course he already knew, but he needed a legitimate reason for going to the Manor at that time of night so it wouldn't be suspicious.
After Eva told him about the break in at the Manor, Cole promised he would go check things out for himself. It was that promise that brought Cole to the Manor at that moment.
Cole knocked a few times on the door and when Mara answered he felt relieved she was alright. "Is everything alright? I heard what happened."
Mara stepped aside to let Cole into the Manor. "Let me guess, my mom told you?"
"Guilty." Cole looked around for evidence that the Demon was still there and got it when behind Mara the door opened and closed. "You didn't answer my question, Mara. Is everything alright here?"
Before Mara could answer, Phoebe and Piper came into the foyer from the Kitchen and Prue descended down the stairs. It was Prue who questioned, "What are you doing here?"
"Eva told me about the break-in. I wanted to make sure everyone was alright. It seems everyone is, so I'll get going. If you want me to get a patrol car to watch out front just give me a call." Cole handed Mara his card just in case she didn't have his number and took his leave with a "Goodnight".
Once the door was closed behind him, Cole looked around for the other Demon. He knew they would still be out there waiting for him. "Come out, come out, wherever you are." Cole's beckoning was answered by an invisible force grabbing him by the throat and pressing him against the wall.
The Demon Troxa made himself visible as he tightened his grip around Cole's throat. "What do you think the Triad will say when I tell them you saved the Witches?"
"That I didn't want you to get them first," Cole replied before Troxa removed his hand from his throat.
"You have your chances, Belthazor. Don't screw up mine again." Troxa pressed his finger into Cole's chest. "I strike again tomorrow night. You better not be there."
Cole's expression hardened. "You don't scare me, Troxa. And if you know what's good for you, you will stay away from the Witches. They're mine."
"This is about more than the Charmed Ones, isn't it? You want your Sibley pet." Troxa laughed darkly. "If you want her, you can have her. My plans are for the other one anyway."
Cole took a firm step forward. "What are you going to do to them?" he demanded to know.
"Marry them." Troxa stated that like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "The quickest and most efficient way to turn the enter line over to the dark end of the spectrum." This time it was Cole's hand that shot out around his throat and pressed him against the wall.
"You lay one finger on the Sibley Witch and I will destroy you." Cole was more than serious with his threat. Once his point was made, he removed his hand.
Troxa wasn't fazed in the least. "You can't defeat me, Belthazor. You never could. After all, you can't fight what you can't see." Troxa turned invisible once again and choked Cole for good measure before leaving.
Cole rubbed his throat before clenching his fists. He was going to have to find out Troxa's weakness because there was no way in hell he was going to let them get away with their plan. He turned towards the door because he heard someone coming and Shimmered away before he could be seen.
Since Prue was convinced that whoever or whatever broke into the Manor was sent by the Triad, Eva went to the Coven's Gathering Grounds and summoned the Trinity to see if they knew anything. Eva had never had any run ins with the Triad so she didn't know anything about them.
Eva stood at the Altar and finished the beckoning spell. A few moments later the Trinity appeared before her.
"Why did you summon us, Immortal Sibley?" they asked in unison.
"I need some information and you may be the only ones on the light side of the spectrum that can help me. What do you know of the Triad?" Eva waited for them to say something and when they didn't speak, she added in, "I'd rather not have the Demoness get the answers."
The Trinity looked at one another and when they all nodded in agreement, they spoke in unison. "The Triad are the highest level of the evil. Only the Source surpasses them. They were once allies to our Coven, but only coveted our Immortality. They seduced one of our own to grant them Immortality but the spell did not work as planned. They did not become Immortal. They did not become Triskele. They became something else. They became the Triad."
When Eva opened her mouth to ask something she really didn't want to know the answer to, the Trinity answered it for her,
"No," they answered together, "your mother was not responsible. The one responsible received the True Death many a moon ago. This is all we have to say about the Triad." With nothing else to say, the Trinity stepped backwards away from the Altar and faded away.
Eva ran a hand through her hair with a heavy sigh. "Well then. That really didn't help much. Bright side, Lena finally wasn't responsible for something." While it may not have been the outcome she wanted, Eva had accomplished everything she needed to do there so she left the Gathering Grounds.
As Eva left the Grounds, a hooded figure stepped out of the trees and approached the Altar. They pulled a knife from their belt and carved the Triskelion symbol into their hand and pressed their hand into the middle of the Altar. They whispered a few words, causing the bloody symbol to fizzle and burn its brand into the Altar before disappearing. Now it was their time to disappear as a portal opened up behind them that they disappeared into.
Eva didn't get very far when she felt a change in the air. She turned around and ran back to the Altar but didn't find anyone there. To be certain everything was alright, she checked the boundary spell and it was still intact. Only the bloodlines of the Infinity Coven would be able to see the Gathering Grounds and enter them. While everything seemed to be in order, she couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted.
Eva wasn't going to risk the anything weakening the Altar somehow, so she picked up an Athame and carved an Infinity symbol into her palm and pressed it into the center of the Altar. With a few whispered words the bloody Infinity symbol burned and sizzled before disappearing. As soon as the symbol disappeared, the Altar started to glow. This concerned Eva because that meant someone else had recently given power to Altar, which meant they could access the Altar's power in return. The last time this offering had been made, to the best of Eva's knowledge, was when Deacon and his adoptive parents were welcomed into the Coven and Deacon placed his bloody symbol upon the Altar.
Eva would have to call upon the Coven members very soon to find out what was going on because this very well could be yet another problem they would have to worry about.
Mara was looking through the spices in the Occult shop when Paige came hurrying over exclaiming,
"I'm late. I'm sorry. Don't hate me." She chuckled lightly and hugged Mara before looking around the store. "I swear we hang out in places like this more often than not."
"Is that a bad thing?" Mara questioned, wondering if she was being too suspicious with her choice of venues.
"Not at all. You know I'm into all this stuff. And don't even get me started on that tea." Paige nudged Mara with a smile then turned around when Prue joined them saying,
"I found the crystals." Prue was going to say more but stopped when she saw that Mara's friend was with them. "Hi, Paige, right?"
"Guilty as charged." Paige gestured to the crystals in Prue's hands. "Those are cool."
To make up a cover story, Mara said, "Prue's helping me with a kind of Zen Garden thing for my mom. She loves crystals."
"What's not to love? They're gorgeous and make very nice paperweights." Paige spotted the candle display and a couple of them caught her eye. "Ooo, excuse me. Fancy candles beckon."
Mara laughed as Paige scurried off and saw the expression on Prue's face which made her say, "She doesn't know we're Witches, Prue." Mara made sure her voice was quiet so only Prue could hear. "Paige is into all this stuff because she thinks it's cool, not because she thinks it's real and believes I'm the same. There's nothing to worry about."
Prue wasn't too sure about that and looked over towards Paige before stating, "I feel like I know her. And I don't mean because I've met her before. I seriously feel like I know her or something."
"Paige comes to the Club a lot. That's probably it." Mara found the spices she was looking for. "Ah ha, these will be perfect."
"I know what we're doing with the crystals, but what are you doing with those?" Prue walked with Mara towards the checkout while Paige was picking out some candles and incense.
"Remember the wind chimes I enchanted that alerted us and well everyone else in the entire neighborhood to evil before they exploded?" When Prue nodded, Mara continued. "Well, I think I've found a way to tweak the spell so only those who are evil will hear it at an excruciating level."
Prue was impressed with Mara's plan. "That's brilliant."
"If it works. I haven't ever tweaked an enchantment to this degree before." Mara stopped talking when Paige joined them with her purchases.
"Look what I found for you." Paige smiled as she held out a candle that had the Infinity symbol etched into it. "You're always wearing that pendant so thought you might like this."
Mara accepted the candle with an appreciative smile. "It's perfect and can't believe I missed it."
Paige looked at her watch after they all made their purchases and winced. "I have to get back to work. My lunch is almost over. I'll make it up to you, promise!" She hugged Mara quickly and bid her farewell to Prue. "It was nice to see you again, Prue. Hopefully I'll get to meet the rest of Mara's Adjacent family some day." She gave them both a quick wave before hurrying out the door.
"She hasn't met Piper or Phoebe yet?" Prue found that a little hard to believe.
"Nope," Mara replied with light laughter because she found it oddly amusing. "Just you."
Prue straightened her posture a bit with a smirk. "I'm your favorite then, huh?"
Mara nudged her as they walked back to their car with a laughing, "Shut up."
To give Prue some much needed away time, Mara took over setting up the traps. She was in the Loft working on tweaking the spell for her wind chimes when an idea came to mind. What if she enchanted the crystals instead? It'd be a double dose of power – problem was the crystals Prue got at the Occult Shop weren't powerful enough to hold two enchantments, so Mara had to come up with a plan b.
Mara knew her mother had some more powerful crystals, so she went over to the 'Bell, Book, and Candle' section of the Loft and found what she was looking for. The larger crystals would be able to support both enchantments so Mara got to work.
With that said and done, Mara put them around the Book of Shadows in the Attic and texted Prue to let her know everything was all set. She had just walked back through the Doorway into the Loft when she spotted a hooded figure tearing a page out of the Tome. Mara couldn't see their face again, but just knew this was the Jumper. "Stop!" she shouted and used her power to Push them away from the Tome, but unfortunately she wasn't able to Call the Tome page from them before they disappeared into a portal.
Mara darted over to the Tome and tried to figure out what page was taken exactly, but she had no idea. It was time to bring the other Sibleys into this.
It wasn't long before Felix and Eva returned to the Loft and were filled in on what had happened. Finally Mara said, "I don't get how they could look at the Tome. Aren't the rules the same as the Book of Shadows? Evil beings can't touch it?"
Felix picked up the Tome and knew exactly which page was missing. "There's no way to know for sure what they were looking for. The page they stole was one of the enchanted pages which shows spells from all the Tomes in the Coven. And to answer your question, Triskele Witches have the same neutral state as Immortal Witches which is why the Tome wouldn't block them anyway."
Eva started to pace in thought. "I'm starting to think this has something to do with the Altar. The Altar gets a power boost right before a page is stolen from the Tome? There's no way it's not related."
Felix turned around to face his sister who was pacing behind the couch where he sat. "You think it was the Triskele Witch who linked with the Altar?"
"How would that even work? The Altar is for the Infinity Coven." Mara didn't think this made any sense.
"And their bloodlines. Besides, both Covens originated from the same Magics, so there's that." Felix knew Eva didn't want Mara to know the whole history yet, but it's not like he went into details.
Mara felt like her brain was going to explode so only focused on one thing at a time. At least, that's what she tried to do. "How screwed are we?"
"To be determined," Eva reluctantly admitted. "We won't know until we find out what spell they wanted. I am going to call a meeting with the Families and have them all block ties to our Tome for the time being. Once we figure out the spell the Triskele wants they can be linked up again."
Felix didn't think that was a good idea at all. "You do realize that will weaken the Coven, don't you? Not only will it block their access to our Tome and vice versa, but access to the Doorways as well. You know some of the Families rely on the Doorways for spells and potions they cannot create themselves."
"I don't see another option. Not even I know every spell in every Tome of every Family in the Coven. We need to narrow it down." Eva hated it but she didn't have another option.
"What if it's a trick?" Mara suggested. "I mean, what if that's what they want? What if the Triskele wants the Families to be cut off. This is the Witch who tried to take out the Trinity. Maybe the page has nothing to do with anything except knowing this is what you'd do?"
Felix's eye widened because of how wise that was. "She has a point, Eva. The Triskele could take out the Families much easier if the ties are blocked. Even if it's just temporary."
Eva hadn't considered that and was proud of Mara for thinking of it. "You will make a fine Coven leader one day." She smiled at her daughter before making a final decision. "Alright, I will alert the Families but no blocks will be made. However if anything changes, I will have no choice."
Felix thought that was a good compromise. "Sounds like a plan to me."
At that moment, Bash Orbed in beside Mara. "Sorry I took so long. I ran down every lead I had and couldn't come up with anything to help. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a human and not Demonic."
Mara wasn't too concerned anymore. "Well, a trap's been set anyway."
This was the first Eva had heard of this. "What kind of trap?"
"I enchanted some crystals to zap anything Demonic and if that wasn't powerful enough to knock them out, I tweaked my alerting evil spell to cause an excruciating ringing noise for anything Demonic." Mara didn't get why her mom looked like she was going to freak out. "What's the big deal?"
Even Felix had his concerns. "Different crystals do different things. And they can be kinda…fickle."
Eva went into the kitchen and picked up the crystal from the counter. "Are these the ones your used?"
"No," Mara replied. "Those weren't powerful enough for a double enchantment. I used the ones from your shelves."
"Oh, no." Eva darted over to her shelves and found them missing. "Mara, those crystals aren't meant for targeting Demonic forces only."
Mara didn't understand. "What are you talking about?"
Bash was picking up on what Eva was saying. "They're neutral. They'll react to anything to enters the grid."
Mara gasped because she had no idea. "Are you telling me that whatever enters the crystal grid is going to get zapped and foghorned directly into their ear?" When she saw the nods of all three of those present, she turned around to the Doorway. "I have fix this." She was about to take a step but the indicator crystal to tell her if the trap had been tripped started to glow. "Oh no."
Eva saw the glow too and quickly followed after Mara. When they got up to the Attic they found Cole collapsed in the grid.
"Cole!" Eva exclaimed in worry and rushed over to him. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Cole started to come to, though a bit disoriented. "I came to check on Mara." He groaned a bit. "When I saw all the windows in the house open I thought someone broke in again. I came up here to check things out." He groaned again as he got to his feet with Eva's help. "What was that thing?"
"A trap," Prue answered with her sisters right behind her.
"It's not what you think," Mara tried to explain since she screwed up on the crystals.
"It was a trap and he was in it. You do the math," Prue shot back, not stopping her glares in Cole's direction.
"Do you understand that this trap of yours is the equivalent of a tripwire attached to a loaded shot gun? It's illegal! I could have you arrested." Cole scoffed and stormed out of the Attic.
Eva went after him and Prue was about to follow, but stopped when Mara grabbed hold of her arm.
"I screwed up the crystals, Prue. I used the wrong ones. I didn't know the ones I used would set off anything that went into the grid." Mara needed to make that clear as quickly as possible before she suspected her mother's boyfriend of being a Demon.
"Doesn't matter. He was up here with no explanation. He couldn't have called to check in? Something doesn't add up." Prue didn't say another word about it and followed after Eva and Cole.
Eva followed Cole outside and expressed her apologies. "Cole, I'm so sorry. A lot has been going on and they're tense and scared and I'm so sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for. You didn't do this to me."
"But Mara did and she's my daughter, my responsibility." Eva let out a deep breath. "On her behalf I'm truly sorry."
Cole looked at Eva sincerely. "I don't hold any ill will towards Mara, I swear, but I have to get out of here." He kissed Eva's cheek before saying, "I'll call you," and leaving.
Eva groaned a bit and picked up a bow wrapped package at the door as she went back into the Manor. She set the flower box onto the table in the foyer and went right over to Mara and Prue, saying, "It seems we need to have a lesson on crystals and spell tweaking. You two didn't nearly catch a Demon you almost killed my boyfriend." Finally Eva noticed that it was freezing in the house. "It feels like an iceberg in here."
"That's because someone not only opened every window in the house but turned on the air conditioning," Piper explained as she looked at the card on the box. "Prue, you have a nice package from Shawn here. Looks like flowers. Pretty nice for a guy you've blown off twice."
Prue wanted to address Eva about what had happened but took a quick second to open the box to find now only a bouquet of roses in there but a lot of maggots.
Piper quickly brought the box back outside while Phoebe said to Prue,
"There's your Demon. I'm going to call Morris"
Prue still couldn't shake her gut feeling about Cole. "Eva, I know he's your boyfriend but what's to say he's not a Demon? He's always around when something is going on. Or what if he's the Triskele Witch and the Triad sent them? I don't have a good feeling about him."
"While I have learned to respect your instincts, Prue, you're wrong. And it's impossible for him to be the Triskele Witch. Triskele Witches are born with the Triskelion symbol somewhere on their body like a birthmark. And Cole doesn't have that." Eva gestured towards the front door where Piper brought out the flowers. "Phoebe is right, Prue. That's your Demon. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a Coven to take care of."
Mara felt torn because she wanted to be there for Prue but also felt like she should help with the Coven.
Prue could see the conflict in Mara's eyes and made it easy for her. "It's your Coven, too. If you can help then go."
Mara hugged Prue tightly before going up to the Doorway to get to the Loft and help Eva.
Mara missed out on a lot during her time helping Eva notify the Coven families. Apparently the Sisters caught another Demon in the trap – one that was named Troxa. He admitted to being an agent of the Triad but not the only one. Troxa told them that the Demon Belthazor was also coming for them before the Triad vanquished him themselves.
Mara was thinking about that in the morning as she absently stirred the sugar in her tea in the Loft. After she told Eva about Belthazor that morning, Eva left saying she needed to handle things with the Coven and Felix followed after her. Mara doubted that Eva left because of the Coven, she believed Eva left because she needed to process the fact that the Demon that killed Lincoln was back.
Mara was pulled from her thoughts when she thought she heard something coming from the Manor. Deciding to check it out, she went through the Doorway and headed downstairs. "P3?" she called out from the landing and gasped when the bartender from the Club, Abby, dressed as Prue turned around and shot her.
Mara gasped as she touched her chest and saw the blood before she collapsed and fell down the stairs. It wasn't long after this that everything went black as death overtook her.
Some time later, Mara awoke with a strong gasp and bolted upright. She found herself in the living room on the couch surrounded by P3, Bash, Eva, and Felix. "What the hell happened?"
"Abby was my stalker," Prue explained. "She shot you. I'm so sorry, Mara."
"Oh my god, I died?!" Mara started to freak out as she looked towards Eva. "Is the baby going to be alright?"
Eva took Mara's hands and squeezed them. "One death does not a Trisklele child make. It takes three. Your baby will be fine as long as you do not die two more times before they are born."
Mara took a deep breath and nodded in understanding before turning back to Prue. "Are you okay?"
Prue sat down beside Mara and wrapped her arm around her. "Oh, sweetie, you do not worry about me." She smoothed down Mara's hair as her eyes became misty. "I'm so sorry."
Mara leaned her head on Prue's shoulder. "You have nothing to apologize for. You didn't do this to me."
Eva had a strong sense of dejavu in that moment because Cole said the exact same thing to her recently. That was weird, but she didn't focus on it. "I think it's time we all take a break. Between Coven stuff, and Triad agents, and psycho stalkers I recommend I conjure up a Doorway and we go to Paris for a few days or something."
P3 and Mara looked at each other in silent conversation before doing the same with Felix and Bash. When they were all done with that, Eva just about died laughing when they all answered in almost perfect unison, "Deal."
