Hermione came out of the dormitory to see Lavender in a bad mood. She turned to her and said

"You did it I know! She wanted to spoil my today's day!" said Lavender. She was confused and looked at Parvati to know what happened,

"Ron has gone to meet Romilda Vane." said Parvati.

"Romilda! Are you sure!?"

"Yes. And Harry was taking him."

This seems absurd to Hermione. She started walking towards breakfast. Is this Ron new way to get her to talk to him. But Romilda is after Harry. And why is Harry taking him. Surely by now he knows I like Ron. But she knew Harry wouldn't do that. She sat on the table and started eating breakfast and thinking...Romilda...love potion...Harry...Ron...Ron! He ate Romilda love potion. Ha! Serves Ron and Lavender right! Just then she saw McGonagall running from one place to another. She finished her breakfast and went upto to her and asked "Is everything alright!?"

She stopped abruptly "Oh goodness Ms Granger. Good I found you. There has been another attack. And Im afraid to say, this time, its Mr. Weasley. He has been poisoned. We are not sure if he will survive... stop rghit now!"

Hermione was in shock! Ron! Oh God no Ron nooooo! Professor McGonagall hurried towards her.

" Ms. Granger you shall not be allowed inside the wing, I suggest you go back to your class until further notice and inform Ms. Weasley right... " she had started running towards the wing. She don't care. My Ron! My poor Ron! I can't bear to lose him at all!

She found Harry and asked him what happened.

" He swallowed love potion by mistake. You know the Romilda one. And I thought I should take him to Slughorn. This might be a good way to get close to Slughorn. I took him there. He gave the antidote and he gave him the mead thinking to celebrate his birthday. And and...he drank before any of us...and...i shoved a bezaor down his throat! "

So there is hope. Harry had put a bezoar. He held Harry's arm, telling him to stop talking. She leaned against the wall and sat down on the floor. She was shocked. She just can't bear to lose Ron. Just then Ginny came running in asking Harry what happened. Both of them started discussing the possibility of poison being in the bottle. She couldn't think straight right now. All she wanted to hear was Ron being okay.

Dumbledore and McGonagall were inside. After sometime Professor McGonagall came out of the wing. When the door opened, they heard Dumbledore and Madam Pomfrey talking,

"He won't make it, the bezoar did indeed saved him but the poison keep spreading Professor. I keep giving him potion so that it doesn't spread to the whole body. Thanks to Harry Bezoar, his breathing is normal but.."

"I have sent McGonagall to fetch Snape. He is expert in it. We can..." the door close. Hermione was in horror. She put her hand on her forehead as if it was paining. Her tears were falling silently. She was so mad at him but now she could lose him forever. She can live with the fact that he kisses Lavender but not with the fact that Ron isn't there at all. I have been so stupid. She kept seeing people go in and out but didn't dare go listen again. She can't listen to the fact that something more bizarre happened to him. Finally they allowed them to go in. She immediately ran in and looked at Ron. He was in deep sleep.

"Oh Ron!" she sighed. Moving her hands over his hairs. Harry and Ginny exchanged a look. She held his hands and kept soothing it. Tears were coming out of her eyes. Harry and Ginny both went up to Ron and looked at him. Just then Mr. And Mrs. Weasley came bursting in. Mrs. Weasley was crying. She hugged Ron and immediately asked what happened. Madam Pomfrey assured them he will make a full recovery. She hugged Ginny and Harry and then looked over Hermione holding Ron's hand and crying. She went upto her and gave her big hug.

"Oh I missed you hermione at Christmas!". Hermione hugged her tight. Just then Dumbledore entered and took Mr. And Mrs. Weasley to his office. After her hug, she felt better. Like someone took off a huge load off her. Fred and George joined them later. They discussed the possibilities of the whole fiasco but this time she also gave her thought upon it.

"Then the poisoner didn't know Slughorn very well," said Her- mione, speaking for the first time in hours and sounding as though she had a bad head cold. "Anyone who knew Slughorn would have known there was a good chance he'd keep something that tasty for himself."

"Er-my-nee," croaked Ron unexpectedly from between them. WHAT!? Did he just called me out!? Oh Ron I'm here. She immediately took hold of his Han. Later the whole Weasley family joined in, she and Harry decided to go back to dormitory. She went up and decided to meet Ron tomorrow and finish this once and for all.

Next day hermione went for breakfast and left early and went to Ron to meet him. She entered the wing to find him sleeping.

"Ms. Granger he needs sleeping, I request you not to interrupt him from it" said Madam Pomfrey.

"Oh I just came to check on him." said Hermione. But Ron heard her and sat bolt upright.

"HERMIONE!"

"Ron!" and before she could stop herself she hugged him so tightly that she thought she will never leave him. Ron was hugging her back fiercely.

"For goodness sake Ms. Granger! I told you not to." said Madam Pomfrey. She tried leaving him but this time Ron kept a hold on her. Madam Pomfrey came and dismantled them. She casted an angry look at Ron.

"I feel much better now, I swear." said Ron.

"5 minutes!" she said.

"Oh Ron! I tho-thought I l-lost you!" said hermione.

"It's okay. I'm here. I'm alive. More than alive. Im so glad you came."

She smiled. "I had to. I can't bear to lose you. I-I..." tears have started rolling out of her eyes.

"No hermione list..."

"No you listen! It's okay if you want to date her, kiss her or whatever. Just stay alive. I-I..." fresh new tears came on her. " can live with losing your friendship but I can't live with losing you at all. It's okay with Lavender and all."

"Noo...np you got it wrong hermione. I..." he took her hands into his and brought her closer "I can't lose you hermione. Please don't stay mad at me. This lavender is rubbish. Just atleast talk to me. I can't lose..." just then the hospital wing door opened and lavender came bursting in. Madam Pomfrey came in and stopped her when she said "I'm his girlfriend!"

"No you're not. Don't lie to me girl. Now Mr. Weasley needs tending."

"What is she doing here!?" said Lavender and dodged madam Pomfrey and ran upto them.

"Why are you both holding hands!?" she demanded Ron.

"It's not what it looks like" said Ron and both of them let go of esch others hands. Hermione turned and started wiping her tears.

"I'm leaving Lavender. I just came to check on Ron if he is doing okay."

"No hermione..."

"No Ron you take rest."

"I'm coming too. Lavender I'm waiting outside." said Parvati.

As they both went out of the door, Parvati turned to hermione and said

"Listen hermione. I know you are all fair and good but you seriously are crossing the line with respect to Ron. I mean we asked you so many times if you like him but you said no. And now that Lavender..."

Hermione cut her off "Parvati, I agree I never admitted but you both always suspected. Anyways I asked him out for the Slughorn Christmas party and he said yes..."

"You asked him?" she said

"Yes and he agreed. And he was excited to go, but - but something happened between us and he just went off with Lavender. So it's not like I'm being bad. We would have made it official at the party. I just wanted to clear this. I knew Lavender would never understand this."

"But if Ron agreed to go with you and after the fight with you he kisses Lavender, then..."

"then what..."

"Then he isn't really into Lavender. He is using her as a rebound. Which mean..."

Hermione had no idea what Parvati is saying. "Means..."

"Oh so he is into you. And he is fooling Lavender. I knew it! Oh but how will I tell Lavender. She will really hate you."

"Well Madam Pomfrey kicked me out, Ron wasn't feeling well." said Lavender. She had just come out of the wing.

"Why wasn't he feeling well. He was okay when Hermione was talking to him" said Parvati.

Lavender cast an angry look at hermione. "Why are you meeting him!?"

"I just went to check on him. I'm leaving now" said Hermione. Parvati was in deep thoughts. She was figuring out how to tell Lavender of this rebound thing. She started walking and thinking of what Parvati said. Is that true!? But now she had to avoid Ron at all cost. Parvati is right. I shouldn't hang out with him when he is dating her. That would be wrong. But one thing had really gotten clear in her head that Ron never liked Lavender. He did it to get to her. He never fancied her.
