Dabi kept his hands tucked into his pockets.
The shard within his pocket heated and pulsed rapidly.
He knew that signal.
It was the one he felt when Kagome had been attacked. Usually the shards reacted when they were in close range to one another, but they seemed to have another purpose as well. Whenever she was frightened or under duress it'd heat and pulse. It was likely a signal call to anyone who possessed a shard—a warning to those who carried them that she was in danger.
His fists trembled at his sides.
Was there nothing that he could do?
The loud wail of the school's alarm system blared overhead.
The reporters from before stopped what they were doing. They immediately lifted their camera and began to film the school as people surrounded the gate once more.
Dabi stepped closer towards the entrance.
She was just beyond his reach.
If he could get in then he could at least go to her side.
Azure eyes narrowed dangerously.
"I need an opening."
He wouldn't lose her again.
Not ever.
