The team each went home somber that evening from Rossi's after receiving the news that 13 murderers escaped from prison earlier.
Morgan shook his head as he opened the door to his house.
Savannah placed her hand on his shoulder, rubbing up and down.
She knew there was nothing she could say. Morgan grabbed her hand and held it there for a moment, he appreciated that she understood him in a way no one else did.
He nodded and the pair continued getting ready for bed in silence.
Garcia and Prentiss decided to stay together, they went to Garcia's place.
"Emily." Gracia began as she opened the door, "I'm nervous. What if we can't catch them, again? What if like what happened with Cat Adams happens again because we took these people out once before?"
Garcia tried to continue but Prentiss cut her off,
"Penelope. We will catch them. These aren't hitmen. They are serial killers, you know that. I know it's easy to spiral but we need to just get some rest to be ready to start the chase tomorrow. We're no good without any rest and we need it after this last case."
Garcia sighed, "I know. It's just…how did they…there's always more. It doesn't end. And there are families that they hurt in the process. People are going to be afraid for their lives."
Prentiss hugged Garcia, "You're right. It's what happens but for every one of them, there's us and we will catch them. The families heal. I know it's hard and it sucks but they heal. Look at all of us, we healed. And we will, no matter what."
"Thanks, Emily." Garcia sighed into her hug, "I'm going to get ready for bed."
"Okay, me too. Night Penelope."
"Night Emily."
Hotch hugged Jack getting him ready for bed.
"I'm sorry about having to be gone buddy," Hotch told him.
"Its okay, dad. I know you save people." Jack answered him.
Hotch nodded, flicked the light off, and left the room.
He grabbed a glass of scotch from his cabinet, sitting at his kitchen table, he rubbed a hand through his hair. He wondered how they could have escaped. He knew he needed to sleep but he was the unit chief and he needed to process this and have a start for the team in the morning. He then thought about that, the team is so good because they do things together. He finished his scotch off and decided to head to bed.
"I'm sorry, Hayden." Rossi began.
"I know. It is different, you're right. It's not like when we were together before. Your team is a family and I think we can make this work. I'm willing to if you are." She told him.
"Absolutely." He said as he gave her a kiss.
"Tell me it's time to use the rule," J.J. told Will. They had just put the boys down and were now reflecting on the events of the evening.
"You know it's not but if you think it's time to call it, I'll support you," Will told her.
"I know." She sighed as she leaned her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her. He kissed the top of her head.
"You all will get these guys, again. You always do." Will told her, confidently.
She looked up at him, giving a small smile.
Natalie sighed as she entered Reid's apartment.
"I don't have to stay here, Spence. I really don't want to put you out." Natalie told him.
"I want you to stay. Put me out!" He tried to tease.
Natalie let out a light laugh, "I don't mind sleeping on the couch."
"No, I'll take it." He told her.
The couple had decided to take it slow given how quickly it seemed to start, they just wanted to take it a little slower than most would expect.
Before Natalie headed to get ready for bed, she sat down next to him as he was getting ready for bed in the middle of his living room. Sweet Spence, she thought, taking the couch so she could have his bed. She sort of wished he would come in there but they had made that decision together and Reid would respect it and she was determined to.
"Are you nervous?" She asked him.
"No. We've caught all of them before. We'll catch them, again." He told her, confidently.
He noticed her expression, "Are you?"
"Yes. But not about the prison break, about Cat." She told him, she waited for a response and looked for a reaction.
Reid was calm, he raised his eyebrows, an expression he didn't usually display.
"The prison break has you wondering about Cat? I don't understand." He told her.
"Cat's clever. Really clever. I don't think we have twin telepathy or anything like that," She smiled trying to make light, a bad habit she had formed. "but something in my gut is telling me to be careful and it has to do with Cat."
Reid nodded, he was the best listener Natalie had ever been around. He processed for a moment before responding, wanting to be thoughtful with his words, although he knew he had free rein with his words around Natalie.
"Cat is in prison. She'll be there for a long time. Its clear prisoners can work things inside of prison but until something happens with her, we can't focus on that. We have to focus on the bad guys in front of us." He answered.
"Spencer Reid." Natalie practically yelled, "You are so calm. This isn't characteristic of you."
"It's you." He replied, quickly.
Natalie looked puzzled.
He smiled and then shrugged, "Your presence is calming."
She smiled and gave him a quick kiss, "Goodnight, Spence."
"Goodnight, Nat."
A/N: I have a wrap up in mind for Centric Genius but send some feedback for whether you'd like me to continue into season 12 in Centric Genius or write a sequel. The sequel would be the same universe (same O.G. cast with Nat/Reid love story)
