3rd Person P.O.V.
Richie sat in the back of the classroom, counting down the minutes until spring break. He and the other losers had made plans to hangout at the barrens after school, and Richie was excited. His leg bounced as he chewed on his pencil, drumming his fingers on the desk. He watched the clock almost religiously, only stopping to take the occasional glance at Eddie.
Eddie had been his best friend for several years now, and the pair had done almost everything together. But Richie wanted something more, he wanted Eddie in a different way. Richie was bi, he had figured out that much. But Eddie was harder to read, and Richie wasn't sure of his best friend's sexual orientation.
Richie's tapping and fidgeting stopped abruptly, as the clock struck 2. The bell rung, the familiar sound resonating in Richie's head.
"You ready to go?" Eddie questioned, raising an eyebrow. The taller boy stood up, slinging his backpack over his shoulder.
"Yeah Eds, I'd go anywhere with you," Richie grinned, pushing past his friend playfully. He heard the familiar scoff behind him, making his smile grow.
"Shut up, asshole. Let's just go." Eddie followed Richie outside, walking alongside the other boy. Richie let his restless eyes dart to Eddie every once in a while, swallowing nervously each time. He couldn't believe that this boy, his short, germaphobe best friend, was capable of making Richie's heart beat as fast as it did. He took a deep breath, they were alone. It was now or never.
"So Eds-"
"Don't call me that," Eddie mumbled instantly.
"Whatever, I know you love it. Anyway... I, uh, I was wondering..." Richie gulped. This was harder than he thought.
"What is it, Rich, just spit it out already," Eddie insisted impatiently. The taller boy struggled to find the right words.
"You know that I want to be with you all the time," he blurted out. Eddie shot him a questioning look. Richie continued. "You know that I won't stop until I make you mine." Eddie's eyes blew wide, his brown orbs staring straight into Richie's. His lips parted in shock, seemingly frozen in place.
"R-Richie- I-" Richie grimaced, still struggling to read his best friend. He swallowed, extending his palm.
"Put your hand in mine?" Richie offered. Eddie hesitantly took Richie's hand, a small smile immediately gracing his features. Richie repeated himself, a twinge of disbelief on his face. "You know that I won't stop until I make you mine." Eddie thought for a moment, a happy smirk shining through.
"Well, in that case, you can stop." Richie's face dropped. "Because I'm yours." The curly-haired boy's jaw dropped, long limbs reaching around Eddie in a tight hug.
"Eds," he breathed. "I can't believe- you really-" Richie shook his head, his eyes watery. Eddie let out an awkward chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Well, I uh," he scrunched up his face. "I may have had a crush on you for the past year," he smiled awkwardly. "Maybe."
"Yeah, and I may have failed my math test," Richie quipped. Eddie laughed softly, rolling his eyes. The taller boy faked innocence. "What? I thought we were naming things that definitely happened?"
"I regret this already," Eddie sighed, a large grin spread across his face.
"That hurts, Kaspbrak," Richie gasped playfully, placing both hands over his heart dramatically. Eddie rolled his eyes.
"C'mon Trashmouth, let's go."
