Hey, I didn't take several months to update again for once! lol
A shorter chapter ironically enough, since we're getting into the bigger stuff now. I just happened to find a decent stopping point before things got too long.
Data Fragment 37: Fragile
When Ryo watched the Diaboromon fiasco unfold on his computer all those years ago, he knew this Willis would be trouble. A Digidestined with two Digimon? Surely an error, an error that would likely be hunted by ENIAC. Especially since this kid was trying to create a third Digimon for himself...and look at that, a virus mysteriously infected it. Not the same as the one Ryo had contracted and mutated, but it had a similar signature. ENIAC was a jealous god.
But even more importantly than that...it was straining enough on a soul to just have one Digimon. To have two, much less three, Digimon linked to your soul was taxing even on the healthiest spirit, and Willis's spirit was anything but healthy, for so many reasons...
Ryo, of course, was one of those reasons. But unlike most things, he doubted his involvement changed much. The DigiDestined of Destiny was fragile by his very nature.
"Where we are we going?" asked Rika, currently trailing behind Ryo as Sakuyamon. She was probably wondering how Cyberdramon outsped her even in her Mega form. She was probably wondering about a lot of things, really. Like why Ryo had scooped up a random Muchomon mid-flight. "Where even are we?"
"The original Digital World, or whatever it's turning into," said Ryo. "And we're off to make sure my old...friend doesn't accidentally end all possibilities before they can even begin...Oh yeah, Henry's there too. He probably won't remember you, but you should say hi."

"..W-What are you talking about?" Willis asked the dark Cherubimon, a disbelieving grin on his face. "I've always fought for the good of everyone! I've dedicated my whole life to fighting viruses! I've always put others first! How is your digivolution to dark forms my fault?" His smile twisted into a snarl. "Tell me!"
"Ah, what delicious obsession," said Cherubimon, grin widening. "This is why we love you, Willis."
"Yeah, keep it coming!" barked BlackMegaGargomon with a sneer. "We'll destroy, destroy, destroy! GA missile!" He launched several dog-faced missiles everywhere.
"Look out!" shouted Henry, dashing in front of Kazu and Kenta. "War Rain!" His missiles blew up BlackMegaGargomon's before they could reach them.
"T-Thanks Henry..." said Kazu, before he glared at Willis. "The hell you doing, Willis? You're the dangerous one here!"
"Terriermon!" Willis refused to call him by his dark name. "You're only supposed to attack viruses!"
But "Terriermon" wasn't listening, only cackling. "Destroy destroy destroy..." His eyes shone red as he launched more missiles. Henry was forced to stay on the defensive so he could keep protecting Kazu and Kenta.
"Kokomon, stop him!" Willis's tone was both scared and angry.
"Call me by my true name, and I will," said Cherubimon.
Willis gritted his teeth. "Fine. Stop him, Cherubimon...And by stop, I mean don't kill, understand?"
"Understood," said Cherubimon. "Lightning Spear!"
The thrown thunderbolt stunned BlackGargomon. His smile vanished into a snarl. "Hey! Don't interrupt my fun, bro." He aimed his missiles at Cherubimon.
"Why can't this be fun too, brother?" said Cherubimon with a smug smile, throwing more electricity at him. "A battle against a worthy opponent? Storm of Judgment!" Lightning rained down everywhere.
BlackMegaGargomon grinned amid the booms and flashes. "Y'know, maybe this is more fun. GA Missiles!"
Henry scowled as missiles and lightning flew everywhere. "Kazu, Kenta, you should leave before you get hurt by this nonsense." Henry yelped as stray bolt zapped him, "Y'know, like that."
"Like we're leaving you to face two berserk Megas by yourself, Henry!" Kazu replied. "Guardromon, let's BioMerge!"
"Of course!" said Guardromon, as he and Kazu glowed and drifted toward each other.
"Wait, I...don't know if that's a good idea?" Henry didn't understand his sudden spike in anxiety. Surely being BioMerged would protect Kazu better than staying human...
Henry never got the chance to find out. Another errant lightning bolt struck Kazu mid-transformation.

Since this is part of one big scene, the next few chapters will probably be in immediate chronological order. For once lol. Enjoy it while it lasts!
Speaking of order...when this fic is done, should I edit the first chapter with a guide to the most chronological order of events? I know this story can be hard to follow since it jumps around so much. Let me know of this and any other questions you have about the characters/story!
