"Hey, Paul." Saturn says on the phone.
"Hm." responds the purple haired man.
"I figured out that Cyrus has been using a manager, Jupiter, to do his deeds for him lately." Saturn takes a breath. "She was behind the harbor incident."
"What?" Paul angrily stands up. So it wasn't Dawn? He mentally curses himself for doubting her.
"It took me a while, but I found out after investigating my team. I thought she was on my side." Saturn sighs. "She seduced me into thinking we were together on this, but I've cut her off. Now, I know Cyrus knows I'm against him. I'll need to be careful too, Paul. And I'm sorry, but Cyrus has built up a defense against the videotape you sent me because Jupiter sent it to him. I'm so sorry, Paul." he sounds very defeated.
"Are you giving up?"
There is a moment of silence and Paul is happy to hear Saturn say, "No. Never."
Smirking, the purple haired man says, "Me too. Now what's that task?"
"You mentioned taking out the mob a long time ago. Do you think you can still do that?"
"I'll take care of it."
He hears Saturn release a breath. "Okay. Because that will save both of our asses since the mob is Cyrus's muscle."
"Got it." The two hang up and Paul runs a hand through his hair. It really wasn't Dawn. He checks the time on his phone and sees she should be at home now.
He sends her a text and is surprised to see her response. I'll come over after work. He didn't know she was working today. Maylene usually teases him every time Dawn covers the night shift.
Paul changes into a black button up and black jeans. He then makes his way down to the bar. As he enters through the back doors, he notices Dawn is working at the bar with another worker while the other worker is cleaning tables. He spots Maylene at the front door across the bar, but Paul chooses to walk around the counter and sit on the stools for customers. He is now sitting directly in front of Dawn, and the only thing separating them is the tall counter.
Seeing someone sit in the corner of her eye, she turns to him and opens her eyes wide at the sight of him. He looks very sexy in his outfit, but she's surprised he's down here. He never comes to the cafe or bar during working hours unless he is working. She smiles sweetly at him. "How can I help you, Paul?"
His firm gaze doesn't leave hers. Grey locks with blue as Paul speaks, "I was wrong."
Fortunately, the other staff is working the bar fine, so Dawn can talk to Paul. "What do you mean?"
Still keeping his eyes on hers, he says, "To doubt you, troublesome." Paul sighs. "You're not the spy."
Dawn's gaze on him softens and she reaches a hand out to touch his. "I'll forgive you if you take me on a date."
He chuckles and shakes his head. "This troublesome woman," he thinks to himself. He then offers her a smirk. "Fine."
Two Weeks Later
Paul is packing for his trip to Veilstone City when a knock on the door gets his attention. He goes over and opens it to unsurprisingly see Dawn. He and Dawn had gone on a date a week ago to a restaurant, but all they did was talk. She told him she likes him again, and he still declined her confession. "What do you want?" he gruffly asks.
She walks past him and notices the duffle bag on his bed and clothes nearby. "I wanted to see you before you leave." Paul had requested the week off when he was working with Barry a 2 weeks ago. Maylene wants to go with Paul but agrees that someone trustworthy needs to keep an eye on the bar. He figures Dawn just found out about his vacation.
"Well, you see me." He says while packing his clothes. He continues to pack in silence as Dawn sits on the side of his bed.
"Take me with you."
"No." He expected her to say something like that.
"Paul, you're not doing this alone!"
He zips up the fully packed duffle bag and drops it on the ground. "Mind your own business."
"You are my business! You're my tenant, employee, friend, and crush!"
"This isn't some game!"
Dawn gives him a sad look. "I know, Paul. I want to help you."
"It's a no, and that's final."
"I'll follow you then."
He glares at her. "You won't know where I am."
"I know you're going to Veilstone City. And it probably has to do with the mob. I can do my own self digging, Paul." she intensely glares into his eyes as he scowls back.
"Please, Dawn." his eyes flash a wave of sadness that disappears as quickly as it was there. Dawn isn't even sure if she saw it correctly.
She sighs. "At least tell me what you're doing."
He sits on the bed next to her and runs a hand through his long hair. "I'm gonna take down the mob."
"You can't do that alone!"
"I'm not." he then rolls up his t-shirt sleeve to show her his snake tattoo. "They're gonna help me."
