Terror.
That was the only thing she felt.
Kagome squirmed against Shigaraki's firm hold. His fingers held onto her like icy tendrils.
"Let me go, you bastard!" She writhed within his grasp.
Her body was so weak that she could no longer form shards like she could a few minutes ago. Healing Aizawa had taken its toll on top of all the fighting she'd done previously.
Withered fingers curled all the tighter around her arm. The man was careful to keep his pinkies lifted. Was that the method of his quirk activation? Using all five fingers?
"I think I'll be taking you with me," She felt his breath upon the shell of her ear as he spoke. "I've seen it you know. You're drowning in this society. So why not make a change?"
The young woman tried to pull herself from his grip.
She knew what he was doing.
She knew what he was trying to do.
Dabi had done something similar earlier that morning. However his words had been born from a place of concern—not selfishness.
Shigaraki wanted her to question her path. To forsake becoming a hero altogether. He wanted her to willingly join his group. He likely saw her as a valuable tool. Something he could use to chip away at society.
She wouldn't let him have the chance though.
It wasn't like she hadn't had offers like this before. If it weren't two-bit wanna be heroes trying to pin her head on a spike, then it was the street filth trying to lay claim to her as their subordinate. Regardless she was a target for both sides.
Kagome fought against his hold, "Like I'd join with a guy that views this as some sort of game." Azure eyes narrowed at his sharply, "I've got my own goals to fulfill. I'm not letting you or anyone else get in the way of that!"
She would be no one's tool.
Black mist surrounded them.
As hard as she tried she couldn't pry herself free.
If this went on any longer then they would pull her through that gate. Once that happened it'd be all over. She couldn't expect Dabi to be able to find them.
At least not for a while.
Plus she was in no condition to fight.
If Shigaraki managed to take her with them then she'd be completely at his mercy.
She couldn't let that happen.
An cool chill of air broke the tension.
Ice formed across the ground beneath Shigaraki's feet. A shell encased his ankles before engulfing his body up to his waist.
She knew that power!
"Shouto!" Kagome stretched her hand out towards the other male.
The teen grabbed on to her. He quickly pulled her behind him and away from Shigaraki.
"That was too close," He kept one hand on her shoulder as he placed himself squarely between them. "Are you alright?"
Kagome caught her breath, "I'll be fine. Thanks, Shouto."
A thick tension filled the air between them. Usually they didn't interact much. She hadn't seen any reason to. Especially not if it picked at his old wounds.
"Just stay behind me. You've already used too much energy," Todoroki commented coolly.
She knew what he wanted to say.
She knew what he wanted to ask.
"Be careful. I think he's got some kind of disintegration quirk. If all five fingers touch you then your body will be destroyed." She lowered her voice, "Use your ability to keep him out of reach."
Her fingers flexed.
She wanted to fight but Todoroki was right about one thing.
She was no longer in the condition to keep battling. Her body was too weak from the fever that'd hit and she couldn't even control Crystallize well enough to heal anymore injuries. Once Aizawa was taken care of, that'd be it.
Her lips pressed into a thin line.
"Be careful."
She didn't want anyone else getting hurt for her sake.
Not ever again.
