Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: A New Era
Season 1 Episode 24: The Garden's Silent
Ever since we all received our explorer's badges this early in the morning, everyone was talking about exploring dungeons and do lots of jobs. Though, I have my hands full today, but I'm not the only one. Turns out that Leavanny wanted to travel up north of the world to the Alps Continent* to go pick up an ingredient that was needed for a remedy since Sneasel and Weavile got terminally ill at the Autumn Shrine Garden. Ariados and I wanted to search for whoever requested help at the Autumn Shrine Garden. And Mienshao's going as well to… you know where, to go find Ho-oh. I would expect this exploration to be a breeze, or so it may seem. This wasn't the case, however. You see, ever since I woke up this morning, my body began trembling with anxiety, I do not know why, but if I am correct, something bad is really going to happen. If only Swampert was here, he would have loved to come with us…
An hour before 6 in the morning…
Scrafty: Alright, alright. Easy you two, even though Mienshao went to go run an errand and won't be back for some time, I guess it is fine to go wander off with Leavanny. However, you both will be under his supervision. Are you sure you can handle these two brats, Leavanny?
Leavanny: Yeah, I can. I won't be gone for too long.
Scrafty: Okay then, don't stress out Leavanny like how you two stress the hell out of me every day.
Scraggy: Big brother, you really are a pain in the–.
Scrafty: (Uses Scary Face) Finish that sentence and I will tie you around a tree for the rest of the week.
Scraggy: (Hesitates) A good brother.
Scrafty: (Smiles and pats his shoulder) Much better, do comeback with some treasures as well as new recruits because we may need a few. (The four leave)
Chandelure: Someone sucks at parenting.
Scrafty: Chandelure, your situation is relevant to mines, except you promised their father to take care of the triplets.
Chandelure: True, but you are with Scraggy since that incident.
Scrafty: Yeah, because he's my little brother Einstein. (Exhales) Every night, before we fall asleep, he often tells me how much he misses our parents. I cannot really get annoyed hearing that statement over again because I still must fulfill that promise I made. The way I reciprocated to their final words; I felt really feel horrible the way we both had to deal with our situation after their deaths.
Chandelure: (Watches the Litwick triplets playing with each other) It's only a matter of time before we can move on with our lives peacefully.
Scrafty: With several Pokémon now fighting for territory, the tribes attacking us because of their hatred towards exploration teams, cities, towns, and villages being destroyed, the word peace is nothing but a hypothetical Chandelure, a what if scenario. It's always one disaster after another, no matter how much we do right. (Stays silent and watches the triplets playing with each other) Now that I think about it, you never told me why you are raising the triplets nor how you were a part of our small group.

Chandelure: Days later after the three were born, their mother died due to chronic illness and the father was left to raise them. I was a childhood friend of his and we were both working together at the same job. When he couldn't have the time to raise the three, he would ask me favors to babysit them. At first, I was not good with kids, but in the end, I got to learn about parenting and quickly gained their respect. Ever since their village was attacked by a group of bandits, their father was caught from one of their attacks and asked me to get them out of their and to raise the three since he could no longer defend the three. That's when I found out that he didn't make it as well. I was left with no place to live or work at. You and Mienshao are the same, both of you had a rough time settling through life after the perish of your families and have made errors that was "substantial" to survive. Despite the fact that a lot of us have are either thieves or lived a normal life, we all desire one specific goal and that is to create a better future not just for us, but for the future of the kids and for the other Pokémon. That's why we formed this exploration team. (Looks down the table) If anything, Leavanny will take good care of the two while they are on an expedition right about now.
Scrafty: I hope so. Which member from the group found you?
Chandelure: J.D. and Steelix both founded me when I got ambushed by them both. I told them that I needed to find a place to hide the triplets from those Pokémon and decided to take us all into their hideout. I was the first one to be brought while later, Pumpkaboo, now into Gourgeist, was brought in and knew about J.D.'s reason to include me and the triplets. If their father were still alive t the time, he would feel betrayed that I had to commit a couple of crimes while I had to find a way to raise the kids.
Scrafty: We need J.D. back; this doesn't feel the same without him.
Chandelure: No one knows where he is and I'm uncertain if Steelix has made any contact with him.
Scrafty: We'll just wait to see.
(Theme ends)
At the Alps Continent…
Mienshao: Here we are, the Alps Continent.
Ariados: I have never expected this place to be even more beautiful than just a photo.
Froslass: I told you would like this place.
Sandslash: (Shivering from the cold) This place is chilly.
Mienshao: Alright, (Looks at his map) we follow the left stone path and that will lead us to the Autumn Shrine Garden. Onwards we go!

Ariados: I don't know if it's only me, but this place seems incredibly quiet.
Sandslash: (Hears a twig snap) Hey guys, I think we are being followed.
Rowlet: Hoot.
Froslass: (Gets scared) Oh fuck! (Looks to see what that was) Oh it's just a Rowlet.
Rowlet: Hoot. We are the Rowlet quintuplet. We are the keepers who keep this garden safe from any signs of harm.
Mienshao: (Confused) Quintuplet, you say? I only see two of you.
Rowlet: Hoot, hoot, a strange presence not from this world has invaded in our home and has attacked three of them. Our protector of this garden was also attacked by a beast whose power is beyond an enigma.
Sandslash: (Quotes Rowlet) "Power is beyond an enigma". Rowlet, can you lead us to the end of this dungeon?
Rowlet: I'm afraid not. You must traverse this on your own. (Both Rowlet fly away) (Her voice echoes) Follow your heart and let your life flow to guide you to your destination.
Ariados: Anyone got a clue to what Rowlet said?
Mienshao: Follow your heart and let your life flow to guide you to your destination. Calm Mind. (Concentrates to listen to his surroundings) I know what she meant. Follow the path where water flows to reach the end of the garden.
Ariados: (Notices someone from behind) Spider Web!
Rowlet: (Dodges the Spider Web) HOOT! You foul Pokémon, how dare you attack one of the Rowlet quintuplets!
Ariados: I'm not to blame for you constantly sneaking up to us, while we would have found the situation by now! Enough of the dangerous quest crap and take us to the end already damnit! Otherwise, it won't be just you or your other friend who is going to suffer!
Sandslash: Chill Ariados! Rowlet, I want to ask you something. The other day, we received a message from our radio for anyone to rescue a group of Pokémon here. Do you have any idea who send that message?
Rowlet: A resident here called for help while being attacked by the beast. Fine, I'll show you guys the way. Though, that friend of yours scares me. (Looks at Ariados expressing fear and flies; everyone follows Rowlet) The rainbow no longer shines its brilliant colors.
Later…
(They have reached an intersected path)
Ariados: Oh crap, where did Rowlet go this time?
Mienshao: And Rowlet didn't give us clues. (Listens to someone whistling on their right)
Leavanny: (Spots Mienshao and the group) Mienshao!
Mienshao: Leavanny, what a surprise seeing you here!
Leavanny: Yeah, I got here earlier to go pick up an ingredient that I needed for Sneasel and Weavile's sickness. However, I got lost here.
Mienshao: I see, well then, now that everyone's here, lets travel along. (Sees Mienfoo and Scraggy) You two wanted to join the expedition, didn't you?
Mienfoo: Scraggy and I wanted to come along with Leavanny, while Scrafty is back home.
Mienshao: That figures, I could have sworn he would gone because of you Scraggy.
Scraggy: I told him that I needed to learn how to take care of myself for a change.
Froslass: So which path do we take?
Mienshao: I was considering taking the path where there's a stream, but the way I see it, all paths have a stream.
Leavanny: (Looks around) Mines was obviously a dead end.
Ariados: (Spots a quill feather) I found one of Rowlet's quills, so I'm guessing we take left?
Froslass: Left it is.
Minutes later…
Mienfoo: (Amused) Hey, we got out, nice job Ariados!
Scraggy: Yeah, way to go!
Ariados: Your welcome kids.
Mienshao: We finally got out, now we just need to continue this long path and we're done. (They have finally arrived) We are here, but I don't see anything.
Leavanny: Hey, by any chance, did you meet a quintuplet of Rowlet while you were exploring?
Mienshao: Yes, in fact, they gave me two strange messages. One was to follow the path where water flows and the rainbow no longer shines its brilliant colors.
Leavanny: So, you're not the only one. Knowing your purpose in coming here, the second phrase may be a reference to Ho-oh.
Sandslash: You don't think someone may have caused a disturbance here, no?
Mienshao: After encountering them a second time, I'm starting to believe what the two are saying. I'm more worried that Ho-oh may be a part of this situation as well.
Sandslash: Ariados was right, he did predict something would happen as soon as we have reached the end. Let's keep moving forward, maybe we'll find some clues there.
Froslass: He's right, (Looks at the stream) let's follow where the stream originates.
Sandslash: (Speaks from his conscious) [I do not know why, but my heart aches. This wasn't from the tiredness from the expedition, but my soul feels like it wants to escape from my body. What is this feeling? Wait, I recognize this feeling, the same one after when Ariados and I heard the strange message from the radio. We followed the stream where it originates and nothing. I do not see anyone who appears as soon as we reached the area, my body began to feel heavy.]
Leavanny: There's nothing, this is strange.
Ariados: Hey guys, you might want to look down the cliff.
Mienfoo: (Sees the entire forest destroyed) Woah, who would do this?
Leavanny: (Sees a Swampert from behind) Maybe we can ask that Swampert over there.
Back at home, an hour before noon…
(Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky Growing Anxiety)
Banette: (Kicks the door open) Tyranitar, Charizard, where is Alakazam?!
Charizard: Geez, he's on his lunch break.
Banette: (Breathes to stay calm) Okay then, I need you two to come to come with me to the Alps Continent at the Autumn Shrine Garden immediately.
Tyranitar: Why, what reason is there to go all the way over there?
Banette: Remember Swampert?
Charizard: Yeah, but none of us had seen him.
Banette: Exactly, and we were complete idiots after not paying attention to the signs of the recent destruction from other areas. Froslass and the gang are in grave danger. We need to go now!
Tyranitar: Alright, I'll leave a message for Alakazam to read later, but how do you know it's Swampert?
Banette: Name the one person who hangs out with you guys the most.
Tyranitar: Oh crap, it's really him.
Charizard: I can't believe he's still alive.
(They hurried off to the Alps Continent)
(Theme ends)
Back at the Autumn Shrine Garden…
Sandslash: (His heart begins to beat faster) Wait guys… my heart is pounding fast. Either my eyes are deceiving me, I think that is really our Swampert. (Moves a little closer to him) It is! (Runs towards Swampert) Swampert, it's me Sandslash! (Smiles) Boy am I glad to see you back!
Froslass: (Smiles but notices the dark aura rising from the ground where Swampert is standing) Mienshao, hold on, look below Swampert.

Mienshao: (Looks at the dark vortex swirling around him) Wait a minute, I've seen that before since… get away from their Sandslash, it's a trap!
Sandslash: Wait, what?
Swampert: (Releases a devastating cry) RAGH! You have finally showed up! You left me to rot in there! DIE ALL OF YOU, EARTHQUAKE! (Everyone jumps to avoid the attack, but Swampert grabs Sandslash) Hammer Arm!
Sandslash: (Gets hit) Wah!
Everyone: Sandslash!
Mienshao: I'm guessing the garden's destruction was his doing!
Sandslash: Why would he attack me?
(Theme ends and Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity Kyurem Battle theme plays)
Swampert: (Releases a battle cry) RAAWWR! Earthquake! (Strikes at everyone)
Ariados: Swampert, it's us!
Swampert: Rock Slide! (Rocks started to fall on everyone)
Froslass: Blizzard! (Froze all the rocks and Leavanny uses String Shot on one of the rocks and swings to cause damage to Swampert)
Swampert: Ice Punch! (Aims for Leavanny)
Leavanny: Leaf Blade! (Counters the Ice Punch)
Mienfoo: (Gets hit by another Earthquake attack) He's not listening to us! Bulk Up follow up with Bounce! (Jumps high and lands a hit on Swampert)
Leavanny: (Looks down at the dark aura swirling around Swampert) That dark aura… Sandslash, the aura that's radiating around him!
Sandslash: Yeah, the same one when we were at the Endless Hollow. All the copies of the shadow Pokémon had this radiating around them.
Swampert: HYDRO CANNON! (Hits Froslass)
Leavanny: Froslass, are you okay?!
Froslass: Yes, but that aura is increasing his strength over time. None of our attacks will be effective if we don't stop him soon!
Swampert: (Yells) YOU DID THIS TO ME! HAMMER ARM! (Mienfoo jumps to avoid the Hammer Arm)
Mienfoo: Fake Out! (Hits Swampert)
Scraggy: Feint Attack! (Hits Swampert from behind and jumps from his back) Focus Punch! (Lands a direct hit from his head)
Swampert: ARGH! (Shadow copies of Swampert appear from the aura)
Ariados: Here comes the copies! (Swampert's shadow copies used Hammer Arm at Ariados but destroys all copies with Fell Stinger) My Fell Stinger's effect isn't activating!
Mienshao: They must be decoys of Swampert, but how is this possible for him to summon more?
Sandslash: Ariados, remember that they are weak against poison!
Ariados: Now I remember! (Builds his Attack stat with Swords Dance) Cross Poison! (Hits a couple of copies)
Mienshao: There, every copy of Swampert is gone.
Froslass: Hail! (Hail begins to fall) Freeze Dry! (Super effective on Swampert)
Swampert: *Pant pant* I DO NOT NEED MY COPIES TO STOP ALL OF YOU! (Reveals an Empowerment Seed)
Scraggy: He's holding an Empowerment Seed!
Mienshao: Aura Sphere! (Launches to knock off the Empowerment Seed, but Swampert eats the seed)
Swampert: (Undergoes Mega Evolution) RAWR! (Breaks another Aura Sphere launched by Mienshao) NOW YOU HAVE DONE IT!
Sandslash: Rapid Spin! (Hits Swampert and raises Speed) Swords Dance follow up with Drill Run!
Swampert: (Stops Sandslash and Ice Punches him straight to the ground)
Sandslash: (Becomes stuck from the ice) *Pant pant* Swampert, (Slowly gets up) please hear me out.
Swampert: (Looks down at Sandslash) STAY DOWN! (Hammer Arms Sandslash and faints)
Sandslash: Swam-pert. (Collapses and faint)
Mienfoo: Sandslash is down! (Runs towards Sandslash)
Mienshao: Mienfoo, wait!
Mienfoo: (Avoids a couple of Swampert's attacks) Hold on Sandslash, I got you covered. (Looks at one of Swampert's fists from above and gets hit; Mienfoo faints)
Mienshao: MIENFOO! Froslass, Ariados, I need both of you to—.
Swampert: EARTHQUAKE! (All get hit and fall; Ariados faints)
Mienshao: No… Mienfoo. (Slowly crawls towards Mienfoo and Sandslash)
Swampert: WHY WON'T YOU DIE ALREADY?! HYDRO CANNON!
?: (Shouts) Now!
(Several Nickit appear from the bushes)
Nickits: Snarl! (Hits Swampert ending his Hydro Cannon attack)
Thievul: Dark Pulse! (Hits the ground to create a blast for the rest to regroup) Protect the rest!
Nickits: Right! (All protect the heroes)
Thievul: (Gives a Reviver Seed to all members) Thank goodness you're all up. We're here alongside with several others from the garden! I'm guessing you came after hearing that strange message that was played last night, right?
Ariados: That was you? (Uses Megahorn on Swampert but jumps back to avoid Rock Slide)
Thievul: Yes, we had to use the entire time preventing Swampert from leaving in that area. We haven't been doing so well preventing him from attacking the remains of the garden!
Decidueye: Spirit Shackle! (Swampert counters with Ice Punch) We never expected Swampert to arrive here!
Ariados: Who would have known that you also heard the message?
Decidueye: You guys could have told me to guide you here sooner!
Sandslash: Drill Run! (Hits Swampert and avoids a Hammer Arm in the Knick of time) I don't want to end Swampert's life, he's still my friend and I want him alive!
Thievul: (Shocked) Kiddo, if you are really asking to have someone in that stasis alive, then you must knock him out! Who knows how much devastation he can cause both inside and outside the Autumn Shrine Garden?! Psychic! (Sends Swampert hurling from behind)
Mienshao: We were alerted by the Rowlet quintuplet, so we came here to assist. (Sees a Spirit Shackle attack) Decidueye!
Decidueye: Damnit, I don't know how much longer we can hold in one spot. (Notices the group's bag is empty) Banette, help the rest out! In the meantime, I'll fight off Swampert! Leaf Blade!
Swampert: Ice Punch! (Both attacks collide)
Decidueye: (Flies upward) Brave Bird! (Dives down)
Swampert: (Watches Decidueye get closer and grabs Decidueye) Hehehe!
Decidueye: (Struggles to break free from Swampert) Let me go!
Swampert: Ice Punch! (His Decidueye's and his shoulders are frozen)
Decidueye: (Tries to get up) I can't get up.
Swampert: (Prepares a Rock Slide) Now you die! (Gets caught from a Psychic attack) WHAT?!
(Charizard, Tyranitar, and Alakazam appears from behind and sends him towards a wall)
Alakazam: Resist now, Swampert!
Decidueye: Thanks, T-tar. (Looks behind to survey the forest for any damage, but sees several trees tumble down) Damnit, we're running out of time.
Tyranitar: Stay here for now Decidueye, we'll take care of Swampert. (Looks at Swampert) Hey buddy, it's me Tyranitar! We understand that you are consumed by the power that radiates below you, but you must fight it!
Charizard: We don't want to hurt you more, Swampert. You must trust us!
Swampert: Aargh! Rock Slide! (Goes for all three)
Alakazam: Split up! Teleport! (Teleports behind Swampert) Psybeam!
Charizard: (Slams the rocks with its tail) Air Slash! (Hits Swampert)
Tyranitar: Dark Pulse! (Fires at Swampert)
Swampert: Hydro Cannon! (Both attacks collide, but Hydro Cannon overpowers the Dark Pulse)
Thievul: Grass Knot! (Gets Swampert) Now Nicket!
Nickits: (All circle around Swampert) Tail Slap! (One after another, the Nicket Tail Slaps Swampert)
Swampert: Earthquake! (Gets hit by Tyranitar's Crunch attack before using the attack)
Decidueye: Move out the way! (Flies down with several arrows) Sinister Arrow Raid! (Arrows hit Swampert)
Swampert: (Falls on his knees) *Pant pant* THIS ISN'T OVER YET!
Tyranitar: We're almost done! All of you, prepare for one last attack!
Sandslash: Here I go, Drill Run! (Strikes Swampert and jumps) Metal Claw! (Strikes a hit)
Mienshao: U-turn! (Hits Swampert and switches with Ariados) You're up Ariados!
Ariados: Megahorn! (Hits Swampert, but snags an item from Ariados' bag)
Swampert: AN ENERGY SEED! (Eats the seed)
Everyone: NO!
Swampert: (Swampert's health fully restored and launches an Earthquake hitting everyone; all collapse) BWAHAHA!
(Several trees tumble down)
Thievul: (Looks at all the Nickit that are injured; tries to get up, but collapses) He's too strong! I don't think we can hold him out much longer.
Swampert: ROCK SLIDE!
?: Protect! (Shields Sandslash and the rest)
Ariados: B-Banette?
Banette: Swampert, you need to calm down! (Hides and strikes from behind) Phantom Force!
Gengar: (Appears from the shadows) Sludge Bomb! (Hits Swampert)
Swampert: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE THERE?! EARTHQUAKE! (Gengar floats in midair to avoid the attack)
Banette: Shadow Claw! (Slashes Swampert)
Gengar: (Hands Oran Berries to all members) One for you, and on for you. Here you go. Now then, finish him with one attack!
Alakazam: Psychic! (Drags Swampert to hit on each side of the wall and pulls him towards the rest) Mienshao and Sandslash, finish him!
Mienshao and Sandslash: Right! Are you ready Sandslash?
Sandslash: Yes. Swampert… I'm so sorry. (Curls)
Mienshao: (Lifts Sandslash towards the sky) Hi Jump Kick! (Kicks Sandslash towards Swampert)
Sandslash: Drill Run! (Lands a critical hit towards the abdomen and goes for the head next)
Swampert: (Blocks Sandslash's attack) GRR, YOU WILL NOT WIN!
Sandslash: Maximum power! (Continues to spin and strikes Swampert's head)
Swampert: ARGH! (Sandslash jumps from behind and dust from the dirt covers the entire)
Mienfoo: Is it over? (Dust clears the area)
Swampert: (Exchanges glances with the group) Ugh… no. (Faints and reverts to normal)
Thievul: It's finally over.
(Theme ends)
Decidueye: (Approaches near Swampert) Yeah, he's out cold. We really did it.
Banette: Guess me and Gengar at the right time.
Ariados: Yeah, you guys did.
Thievul: (Checks on the Nickit) You little guys okay?
Nickits: Yes!
Thievul: I'm glad you all are okay, but you guys should've stayed hidden.
Nickit: Yeah, but uncle, we wanted to fight alongside with you to fend him off from our home.
Thievul: At what cost though? (Looks at the remains of the Autumn Shrine Garden) Stay here, I'll speak with the rest. (Walks towards the group) Hey, I just want to say thanks for everything.
Sandslash: (Hides his sympathy for Swampert and smiles) Your welcome, it's what we explorers do.
Decidueye: This took three days to keep Swampert from escaping here and have everyone evacuate from the Autumn Shrine Garden. Several were injured during their escape, and others helped Thievul and I. Mienshao, since I have hunch to why you came here, Ho-oh was here to help us, but Swampert had attacked him and several other Pokémon Ho-oh was carrying. If you're looking for him, he should be hiding far away with the rest somewhere.
Mienshao: (Bummed out because he wanted to meet Ho-oh) I understand.
Thievul:
Froslass: Thank you, we'll see what we can do to help.
Decidueye: You aren't still attempting to purify his heart again, are you?
Sandslash: I want my friend back to normal.
Decidueye: Alright then, but keep in mind that he's your problem now. The residents of the Autumn Shrine Garden cannot go through another suffrage against Pokémon like him.
Alakazam: (Looks at Swampert) I think I know
Nickit: Hold on. (Runs off to the group)
Thievul: Wait, Nickit. Where are you going?
Nickit: Hey, wait up!
Alakazam: Hmm?
Nickit: Phew, that was tiring. You know, you lot aren't that bad considering how you guys fought valiantly to stop that Swampert. I wanted to ask something. Is it possible for the Nickit, my uncle, and I to join your exploration team?
Mienshao: Oh, the thing is, we have recently formed an exploration team called Team Rebirth, but we haven't received any update on recruiting Pokémon.
Nickit: No matters, the Nickit, my uncle and I would be happy to assist you in any of your exploration team affairs.
Mienshao: (Shakes his paw) Glad to have you and the Nickit along. I'll surely let your uncle know the update.
Nickit: Yay!
Moments later…
Nickits: Bye! See you next time!
Thievul: Thank you for all you have done!
Ariados: Our pleasure!
Tyranitar: (Smiles and waves goodbye) Until we meet again!
Charizard: Hold on, where's Decidueye?
Scraggy: Decidueye said he was going to stat for the time being to help restore the Autumn Shrine Garden.
Alakazam: Very well then. Let's head back home.
Later that night…
Blissey: I am shocked about how this all turned out, but this is great news now that he has returned.
