A few months ago I finished watching all of Gilmore Girls and I loved the feel of Starts Hollow. That's the inspiration for this and the next chapter's setting.

This was the first time in months she'd seen him without the worry of it having to end. While the feeling joy and content ran though her the reality of being stuck in a coffin showed on his face.

Sabrina walked over to the shelf, where the dagger lay. Picking it up she brought it back to him and positioned the blade on her palm.

"Sabrina!" His hand grabbed hers, stopping it from pressing down.

"You've been desiccating in a coffin, Elijah. You need blood."

He made no indication to remove his hand. Taking it along with her, she pressed the metal into her palm. A small muffled winch sounded as it cut through the skin. As soon as blood was visible Elijah's hand pulled the dagger away.

His hand shifted to the her other, grabbing the wrist he pulled it up to his mouth. The colour soon began returning to his face.

He didn't take much, only what was necessary. Once done he bit is own wrist and held it to her, wanting to heal her wound. Stood with hands by her side Sabrina could feel the blood tricking down her fingertips as it dripped onto the floor of the basement. She eyed the wrist and then at him.

"Sabrina, Please." She did as he requested, holding his wrist in place as the cut began to close.

Elijah pulled out a handkerchief from his pocked and handed it to her. Talking the piece of cloth, she began wiping off the excess blood on her fingers.

Sabrina watched as he walked over to the coffin that was laid beside his. Elijah's hands went to open the lid. "No, don't," she called out. He stopped and turned.

"After everything I've done, I can't betray them anymore," she said in worry walking to the coffin.

His voice was a contrast to her own. "I can't leave my family."

"Nothing will happen to them, I promise you," she reassured. "Please, Elijah. Give it some time."

Elijah's eye's drifted to the dainty chain around her neck and then down to the ring that was threaded on it. "Sabrina."

He looked up at the pleading look on her face.

"Okay," he sighed.

First stop of the day was the Mystic Grill for a much need coffee. The pair sat at a booth as Elijah attempted to question the agenda for today while Sabrina's attention strayed to Alaric and his new friend who sat some distance away.

"Sabrina are you even listening to me?"

"I'm sorry, what?" she asked him snapping out of the little trance she was in.

He gave her a perplexed look.

"I'm sorry," she said apologetically. "I haven't seen him with anyone like this since..." The sentence drifted off and her head dropped down.

"You can say her name. It's a sign of moving on."

"But what if I don't want to move on." She thought on her words for a moment. Biting her lip at how harsh it sounded in retrospect.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you." She took a deep breath in. "I can't move on and I can't forget. If I do I feel like I've let her down," she said with an agonised look.

Elijah reached out across the table to hold her hand as a way to comfort her.

"Is that what she'd want? For your only memory of her to be that one moment of sadness and grief?"

His words held the truth she needed to hear. Every so often she'd catch herself in a moment of happiness, forgetting the worst thing to ever happen to her and then would immediately feel guilty. But Elijah was right, Jenna wouldn't want her to live her life like this.

Sabrina slowly nodded getting ready to respond but her attention wondered back to Alaric and Dr. Fell.

Meredith got up to leave passing Damon who didn't seem the notice the undaggered original at the Grill. She watched him take a seat where the doctor sat.

"Come on, let's go," she deflected grabbing her messenger bag.

"What's this about a dead medical examiner?" Elijah looked back from the two men after listening in on the conversation.

"Something happened at the council meeting yesterday," she recollected.

He gave her a quizzical look. "You don't seem too bothered. That's very unlike you."

"I didn't have much time to look into it. I had my own problems to deal with last night"

Elijah looked back from the conversation. "He was staked in the chest like a vampire."

Sabrina would be lying if she said this didn't spark her interest but quickly shook the thought out. "No, not today," she declared. "This is our day."

Elijah couldn't help but smile at the small glimpse of her domineering side. She pulled him up by his hand and let him out the Grill to her car.

The faint sound of the carousel could be heard in the distance, mixed with laughter and screams. The smell of burgers grilling, onions frying and candyfloss lingered in the air. A large wheel turned in the background of many other tall mechanically operated rides. The ground bellow their feet was grassy and black wire lines ran across the green turf. Screeches of joy and fear got louder as the arm of one of the rides reached up the sky and then descended down again. Along with the plethora of rides, in the centre were various different booths, food, toys and games that enticed queues of people lined up at a chance to win a large cuddly animal.

Two kids ran past Elijah in a game of tag holding ice cream cones as they giggled. "We drove out of Mystic Fall for this?"

She turned to him with a pleased look on her face.

"A town fair?" she nodded at his deadpan expression.

"You need to loosen up a bit." Elijah allowed Sabrina to propel him in the direction of her choosing.

"Still hating this?" she simpered as they walked around the carnival, sharing a stick of candyfloss.

"I never said anything about hating it," he replied with a smile as Sabrina took a bite of the sugary confectionary.

"This looks interesting."

This time it was he who ushered her to his whim. They stopped at a stall of big plush toy animals that lined the back of the kiosk. Tin cans were stack up in a pyramid, three sets placed at some distance apart to allowing multiple fair goers to have an attempt at knocking them down.

"Looking to win one for your pretty lady, sir?"the man in the booth asked with a toothy grin.

Elijah pulled out his wallet. "Pick one," he nodded at Sabrina and eyed the bears on the wall.

Sabrina fought back the urge to giggle at how cliché this was.

"You don't need to waste your time on this. Those games are usually rigged. Probably glue or something holding them down or the eyehole is probably misplaced so you miss the target."

"Nonsense. I happen to take great pride in having perfect aim," he scoffed taking the large plastic rifle from the vendor.

Placing the back barrel on his shoulder, he looked through the eye piece and pulled the trigger. With a clank the top can fell, followed by the next row till none of them remained standing. He handed the toy firearm back to the man, looking smug at Sabrina.

"And we have ourselves a winner!"

Sabrina pointed to the large beige bear with a pink satin ribbon around its neck. The man reach over to grab the 3ft stuffed animal as Sabrina shook her head and softly chuckled. "You're unbelievable."

A/N: Town fair? Carnival? Funfair? Fayre? No idea what the proper name is.

A nice game of Tin Can Alley. If this chapter was surprise, WAIT until the next one.
