Chapter Thirty-One

Jasper's thoughts are in italics

July 4, 2026 (10 PM)

Bella stands in the tree line watching her family interact with each other. SJ, Jazmyn, Mary, Rosalie, Charlotte and Leah are playing cards while Emmett, Peter, Jacob and Seth are rough housing. Emmett could not be happier having so many people to wrestle with, who didn't cheat. Bella smiles at her thoughts.

Bella thinks back to all the practice sessions they put the kids through once they got back from Seattle. She had decided it was time to train them as much as they could so they could be ready if someone did try to attack them.

She is so proud of her kids. They had all mastered their skills quickly. They worked on them each year they grew until they found the limit to their powers.

Jazmyn is now able to not only call people or objects to her, she can now teleport a group of people somewhere. She is only able to do up to ten at a time, counting herself. But it isn't a problem because she can call ten at a time to her so when their family travels somewhere it was easier than ever.

Mary is now able to block your power as well as borrow it. She used to only be able to power your power for a few hours, but now she can block or borrow your power for a few weeks before she loses it. She has never blocked Edward's power though, she loves being able to talk to him completely in secret. Edward has assured her that Mary has never blocked her power either, because she knows it would freak her mom out if she was unable to protect her if the need ever came up.

SJ's power is the most unique power Carlisle and Edward have ever seen. He has always been able to tell if someone is following him, even knowing who if he has ever met them before. Now, not only can he do that, but he can pretty much look through your eyes and see where you are. Edward had explained it to her one time as almost looking like a google map on the computer.

She turns to see Edward run up next to her. They had gone hunting to be alone for a bit. They had gone their own ways to hunt after a bit because she wanted to make it a game to see who could hunt faster and get home faster. She smirks as he looks at her already standing there. Though she is pretty sure he let her win it's still funny to see him be 'shocked' about something.

Edward wraps his arms around Bella and she leans back into Edward's chest. She turns her attention back to their kids. They have done a good job raising them.

Edward looks down at Bella and smiles. "What are you thinking about so deeply?"

Bella giggles. She never gets tired of that question. "Just about how good a job we did raising our kids. I know we had a ton of help and I am grateful for that, but I think we did a pretty good job if I do say so myself."

Bella opens up her mind to Edward, laughs slightly when he tenses for a minute. He loves to hear her mind, but it always seems to surprise him when she actually lets him hear her. Or maybe he is just happy she is 'letting him in.'

Edward leans down and kisses her neck. "Maybe a little bit of both."

Bella sighs then goes back to her evaluation of the family. She glances back at the table of card players and notices that the girls were distracted by the match while SJ and Leah had their heads together laughing about something. It had taken some getting used to seeing them as couples, but she can see they are really happy and that is all she wants for them.

Bella looks over to the other end of the field at Carlisle setting up the fireworks he purchased for the evening. Jasper is helping him and both are following Alice's instructions on the "best" place to put them for the best effect when they go off. Even though they live in Canada, Alice said they had to celebrate the 4th of July. Anything for a 'party,' Bella thought with an eye roll.

Bella moves on to the fire pit where Esme sits with the rest of the couples. Kate is sitting on Garrett's lap laughing with Esme, Irina and Laurent about something he has said. Charlie is sitting next to Tanya looking like he would be blushing if he could while Tanya is smirking, but rubbing his back in sympathy. Whatever was said must have been about him. Eleazar and Carmen are trying not to laugh next to them.

She still can't believe twenty years has passed since that horrible night. But out of all the horror came so much more good than bad.

When Charlie woke up and they explained everything to him he had jumped up and hugged Bella. At first everyone thought he was going to attack her and were going to help, but stopped when they saw the two hugging. It turned out that Charlie was just like her and had no problems with blood either. Though, unlike Bella, he loved to pick on Jacob about stinking.

He had been so happy to know he was a grandpa and get to meet his grandkids. He and Edward had gone on a long walk and talked. After that Charlie had been trying to get Bella to forgive him too. Bella shook her head and smirked.

Garrett had turned out to be Kate's mate and Charlie was Tanya's mate. So all the sisters had finally found love after being alone for so many years. The problem with that was everyone was a couple except her and Edward. She will never forget the day when Edward was tired of all the thoughts from the happy couples that he had walked right up to her and kissed her. She was so shocked she froze, but it felt so nice to feel his lips again that she had threw her arms around him and kissed him back. That had been happened two weeks after they got back from Seattle.

Bella is pulled from her thoughts by Edward kissing her neck. She shuts her mind to him. He pulls away and pouts. "Then be good or I will not let you listen." He makes a show of saluting her. She shakes her head, opens her mind and goes back to her thoughts. She feels Edward sigh contently and smirks.

The kids had been SO happy their parents were finally back together. To be honest, she had been scared at first, but now she could never picture her life without him.

The only downfall was her mom. She sighs. Jasper had kept in contact with Mark and found out that Renee had flown to Forks to help look for Charlie. And with Charlie's disappearance they decided they needed to look for Bella too, because it was too weird how they both disappeared.

Of course, this caused problems for them so they had to make a plan to get everyone to stop looking. Carlisle had suggested faking their death so Renee would be able to have closure. Charlie and Bella were not sure they liked the idea until they had Alice look ahead to see what would happen. Alice had happily reported Renee would be sad for a while, but her and Phil would end up having a couple kids together. One would be named Charlie Swan Dwyer and the other would be named Marie Isabella Dwyer. It had touched her and Charlie so much she was going to name them after them.

Once they knew it would help to fake their deaths they agreed. First, they had called the wolves in La Push to explain what was going to happen. They did fib a bit by saying they killed Victoria, but they had not made it in time to stop her from changing Charlie. Sam wasn't sure he completely believed them, but agreed the treaty was still intact since he had no proof they were lying. He also agreed to help fake Charlie's death since he was in Forks.

Sam had gone to a secluded place and set up a tent and put some things around to make it look like someone had been camping there. Charlie had wrote a letter and sent it to Billy. Billy called the police once he got the letter and said he just found a letter stuck under his door and it was from Charlie.

The letter was a goodbye letter explaining how he had been hiding out camping to get away from missing his daughter. How he felt like such a failure and didn't deserve to live anymore. It went on to say he was sorry for any pain he would cause anyone. Then he said he was going swimming and was never coming back.

The cops found his "camping" site a few days later. It was on the edge of a cliff over the ocean. Though they never found a body they figured he had jumped to his death.

Renee was setting up the funeral when she got a call from Bella saying she just heard about dad and was flying home to help with the arrangements. Renee was so happy to hear her daughter's voice. Bella could tell what was going to happen next was going to hurt her mom so much more.

Of course, she never really had a plan to go home. Their plan was Edward and her were going to rent a private jet. Edward was going to fly them home, except they were never going to make it.

Bella had jumped out of the plane and Edward set the auto pilot and made sure it would crash into the mountain. He then jumped out as well. Jasper had already messed with the black box to make it seem like they had lost control and crashed by mistake. With the way they crashed nothing survived, not even the black box so it didn't matter anyway.

When Renee learned she had now lost her daughter too, she was so heartbroken. Phil flew to Forks to help her with everything. In the end they did end up with their two children, but the surprising fact was they had stayed in Forks instead of going back to Florida. Alice admitted she saw that too, but wanted to surprise Bella and Charlie. So she hadn't said anything to them about that part.

Renee and her family now lived in Charlie's old house. Alice said once a month they go and put fresh flowers on their graves. But when they do they are smiling and happy that at least Charlie and Bella are together again. So while they figured they had hurt Renee, they had given her the closure she needed.

Bella had been so shocked when Edward had purposed to her a few months later. She was even more surprised when she said yes and helped plan a big wedding. She never thought that would be her, but she figured it had to do with being a vampire now.

They had gone on a honeymoon to Isle Esme. After a couple weeks went by they had their kids join them for some family time. It didn't last long as they missed the rest of the family so much they wanted everyone to come. So that's what happened. The rest of the family came to Isle Esme and spent a few weeks there.

A couple years ago, the wolves and the triplets got married. They got married in different months, but all got married in the same year. They were surprised to learn that none of them could have kids. Even though they had blood running through them, the girls never got periods and Leah's never started back up again. Carlisle had been researching it since, but had yet to come up with any explanation. It didn't seem to matter to the couples. They were all happy together and that's what mattered to everyone.

Bella is pulled from her thoughts by Edward kissing her neck again. Well, two can play at this game.

With an evil smirk she shows him how happy she really is now that everyone is together. She focuses on a few parts of their private times more than when they are with family. She laughs when she hears him growl with desire. She closes her mind to him and laughs more when he spins her around, pushes her up against a tree and starts kissing her.

EDWARD! I am ready to start. Carlisle 'yells' to Edward. Carlisle chuckles when Edward pretends to not hear him.

However, ignoring Alice is not as easy. Sure, keep doing what you're doing. I am sure the whole family would LOVE to see all that. Alice shows Edward a vision of him and Bella getting too carried away, and their kids looking sick at seeing them doing that stuff. So, go ahead. Scare your children for the rest of eternity. Alice smugly 'says' to Edward.

Edward pulls away and sighs. "Carlisle is going to start setting off the fireworks soon and Alice is yelling at us to knock it off. If we get too carried away people will see us and she says no one wants to see that. Especially our kids."

Bella laughs and looks over at Alice. When Alice finally looks at her she sticks her tongue out at her. Alice shakes her head and goes back to work.

Bella notices Jasper has moved off to the side and is now just watching Alice work with Carlisle.

Bella smiles, gives Edward a quick peck, and runs over to talk to Jasper.

Edward shakes his head and goes over to the group around the fire pit. While he would rather be with Bella, she didn't pull him along so he would leave her be.

Bella stops next to Jasper and bumps him with her shoulder. "Done helping?"

Jasper smirks down at her "I was told I was in the way so I was to leave."

Bella laughs at him. "Well, then lets leave." Before Jasper can ask what was going on she grabs his hand and pulls him off into the woods a bit. It doesn't escape his notice she only stops when they are out of hearing distance of the others.

"So what can I help you with? I can only assume we are here for a reason." Jasper asks as he offers Bella his arm like any gentleman should do. We like to go 'away' together once in a while. Bella seems to like to spend time just the two of us now and then. She is always sending off brotherly love and appreciation for me anymore. I have never asked her about it, just figured she would tell me when she was ready.

Bella smiles at him and as she puts her hand through his arm she says "Jasper, I wanted to say thank you for coming back for me. I know it had to have been a hard decision for you, to leave Alice and your family, but I cannot thank you enough."

"Well, it was my pleasure my dear. There is no need for any thanks."

"I know, but I just feel I needed to say it. Without you, and the wolves, I don't know what would have happened to me. I know many others helped too and I am grateful for that as well, but I don't know…I just feel connected to you now. Not in a romantic way, but in more than a brother-sister way even. So I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for never giving up on me and for being by my side even when I was a butt."

Jasper laughs with Bella at her last statement. They were getting closer to the hearing range of the others so he stops and turns to Bella. "Bella, I should be the one thanking you, not you thanking me. You have brought our family so much closer together then we have ever been before. But I will say you are welcome for everything." Jasper leans down and hugs Bella.

When they separate they start heading back to the others. But it must not have been fast enough because all of a sudden they were standing in front of everyone. Bella looks at Jazmyn. "Really?"

Everyone laughs as Jazmyn shrugs. Alice pops off "Well, you were done talking and we were waiting on you. So I had Jazmyn help out is all." Alice tries to look all innocent.

Bella shakes her head and heads over to Edward who is waiting with open arms and a smile. She opens her mind to him again. Sometimes I really am not sure how you handled her for so many years.

Edward bursts out laughing and wraps Bella in a hug. When she turns around Alice is glaring at her. Bella just waves innocently back at her.

It didn't take long for the others to figure out Bella could 'talk' to Edward if she wanted to. And since Alice knows she "annoyed" Bella, she is sure Edward is laughing at something Bella said to him. Alice glares harder at them when Edward laughs harder while Bella starts giggling.

Jasper shakes his head and kisses Alice's cheek. "Don't worry dear. She still loves you. You know it."

Alice looks up at him and notices an extra twinkle in his eye. She loved how happy he has been now. With all the happy emotions around he was on cloud nine. She smiles up at him and kisses him quickly. "Oh I know, but I would love to know what she said to him is all. You know she said something just to annoy me back."

Alice turns around and leans on Jasper while Jasper laughs softly. They all stare at the sky while Carlisle sets off the hundreds of fireworks he purchased. Jasper takes the time everyone is distracted to quickly look at the rest of the family.

Who would have thought that when I went hunting for Bella we would end up like this? Probably no one. I was just looking for Bella to heal our family, but in the end we were able to heal THREE families.

Jasper notices Edward watching him. He feels gratitude coming from Edward's direction. You're welcome Edward. I am glad I was able to help.

Edward bows his head towards Jasper, kisses the top of Bella's head and then goes back to watching the fireworks show.

Jasper turns back to the show with a smile on his face. It may have taken me a little longer then I thought it would, but I was finally able to piece my family back together.

Well, that was it. Hope you all enjoyed the story. It was VERY hard to write but I still fun. While I do have a couple of ideas bouncing around in my head, I do not have any plans to write another story at this time. If I do write any of them, I will let you know on here.
