Day 50: Trick
"Bill, have you seen Fred and George?"
Bill looked up from the book he was reading, "I didn't know you had gotten them up from their nap yet."
"I didn't," Molly frowned, looking slightly worried, "I went in there to check on them and they're not there. They must have figured out how to get out of their cribs somehow."
Bill snorted, "Sounds like something they'd do." He could swear the twins had been bundles of mischief since the day they were born, "Want me to help you look, Mum?"
Molly nodded, "That would be a big help, Bill. Thank you."
The two searched all over the house. The longer they searched, the more Molly started to panic. What if the twins had left the house somehow? What if they hadn't climbed out of their cribs at all, but been taken?
When she voiced this worry aloud, her eldest son was quick to remind her, "The clock says they're home, Mum."
Molly took a deep breath, looking slightly sheepish, "You're right, Bill. You're right. I just don't understand where they could have gotten to."
The end of her sentence was punctuated by a gasp as two identical red heads popped up from the nearby laundry basket.
Fred and George were giggled like mad.
"We ticked you, mama, we ticked you!" Fred crowed.
"Ticked you! Ticked you!" George chorused gleefully, clapping his hands.
Bill instantly burst into laughter, unable to help himself at the stunned look on his mother's face.
Molly was staring at the twins, "Were- were you two hiding in that basket this whole time?"
"Yep!" Fred answered happily.
"You no find us!" George giggled.
Molly could only shake her head, "You two scared me half to death." For a moment, Bill thought she was going to start yelling at the twins, but then she started to laugh, seemingly unable to help it even as she admonished, "Don't you ever do that to me again!"
She scooped up Fred and and Bill grabbed George, both toddlers were still giggling madly, evidently very proud of their "tick".
Molly shook her head again, "I swear, these two are going to make me go grey by the time their five."
Hope you enjoyed!
