Just letting you know I've done research out the booty for what's to come, if I don't explain it very well in the chapter my apologies. I have been considering this for a while.
Maura and Jane were soon done finishing taking their bath, they took longer than they had to, they felt very handsy and all Jane could think about was using that toy Maura used on her. She felt more relaxed in the bath, she could stay in there all day but she knew that Maura wouldn't allow it. Maura drained the tub and got out, drying off and putting on her pajamas... Jane just rested there a few minutes before she heard her phone ring from the bedroom.
"Ugh, Maura can you get that please?" Jane whined, she had heard the phone ringing a couple of times in the past couple of minutes.
"Alright, I'm not sure who it is, but I hope it's important," Maura sighed, going to grab her phone from the bedroom. "Jane honey, it's Korsak. Should I answer it?"
"Yeah sure, tell him whatever it is it can wait for tomorrow, I'm kind of tired," Jane spoke with a yawn.
Maura picked up the phone, she couldn't even say anything before Korsak spoke. "Goddammit Rizzoli you would think if I called continuously you would pick up the phone."
"Vincent, it's me Maura, we weren't near our phones. What's the matter?" she heard the rushed panicked sound in his voice.
"There was an incident at the Dirty Robber. Angela just got picked up by the ambulance, I'll tell you girls more when you get there, I'm on my way to the hospital now. I'm really worried about her..."
"I alright we'll be there as quick as we can," Maura hung up and changed out of her pajamas and put on some clothes, going to get Jane some clothes to wear. She went back to the bathroom, Jane had finally gotten out of the tub.
"Hey Maura, who was that?" she asked as Maura threw her the new clothes.
"It was Vincent, there was an incident at the Dirty Robber, Angela is on the way to the hospital," Maura frowned and Jane just froze for a minute before hastily threw on her clothes. "He said he'll tell us more when we get there."
Jane just nodded, "I just hope that she's alright. God Maura, if something happens to my mother."
"I know Jane, I'll drive us alright?" Maura frowned, she hated seeing Jane like this.
Jane just nodded, "I okay..." She ran a hand through her hair before they left for the hospital, she had a very uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Korsak had made it to the hospital and was sent to wait in the waiting room, he had his face in his hands taking deep breaths. All he could think of was the look she had when the paramedics took her into the ambulance. He was mad at himself for not telling Angela about Lydia and Frank sooner, he was more mad at Frank for coming into the Dirty Robber when Angela wasn't feeling her best. Frank had impeccable timing and it made Korsak angry, he doesn't remember the last time he felt this way.
When he heard footsteps he looked up and he got out of his chair. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Lydia called and told me what happened," Frank looked upset but Korsak didn't care right now.
"I thought I told you if you came near Angela or me again I would file for a restraining order."
"Come on Vincent, Angela means a lot to me and I wouldn't hurt her. Plus you hardly scare me," Frank crossed her arms.
Korsak clenched his jaw, "You wouldn't hurt her? You got to be kidding me. You're the reason she's in here if you didn't come to her place of work..."
"I warned you she would put you into an early grave," Frank shook his head. "You should probably calm down, it's not worth it."
Korsak's anger got the best of him and he pressed Frank against the wall. "You better think before you say something else. She is worth it, if you don't see that it's your own damn fault. You abandoned her and you have no fuckin' right coming here acting like you give a shit about her." He pushed Frank before pulling away from the taller man.
"And I don't like being assaulted. But like I said you don't scare me."
"Yeah well if he doesn't scare you, I should," Jane had walked up, crossing her arms, and she turned to Korsak. "Are you alright Korsak?"
"Just get rid of him," Korsak huffed and walked away. Maura walked with Korsak to the chairs, trying to help him calm down.
"Hey Janie, it's nice to see you." Frank smiled and Jane was not amused.
"I would drop that smug look off of your face, right now. I don't want you anywhere around Ma or hell around any of us. I don't want to know why or even how you are here. I just want you out of our lives for good. You don't get to be involved with our lives acting like you give a damn when all you care about is yourself. My mother is in the fucking hospital, and I have reason to believe you are that fuckin reason for it. I should not have called you a month ago, I should have shut the door in your face on Christmas. I should have said shit when I seen you yesterday at Luigi's. Stay away from us or I swear to God Frank you will regret it," Jane balled her fists, looking up at the man she no longer recognized. "You are no longer my family, you are just some unknown bastard who knocked up my mother three times. I no longer know who the hell this Frank Rizzoli is. You're a stranger to me and you always will be. Ma is finally happy and I'll be damned if you get in the way of her happiness anymore than you already have."
Frank listened to Jane's words, he pulled something from his pocket. "Just give her this to sign, please. Jane that's all I want. I'm sorry you feel that way about your own father but there's nothing I can do to change your mind."
"I don't want your fuckin' half assed apology Frank," she snatched the papers from Frank's hand, and looked at them and laughed. "You got to be shitting me! Ma is not going to sign this shit," she shoved them back into his hands. "You can take your papers and burn in Hell. Now get the fuck out."
"Janie, please be reasonable..."
"That's Detective Jane Rizzoli to you, sir. Now leave the premises or I will arrest you." Jane glared at Frank, who just stood there dumbfounded before putting the papers back in his pocket.
"Have a good evening Detective," he sighed, and walked away. Jane just stood there for a moment before going to sit down with Korsak and Maura.
"Jane, you're shaking," Maura rested a hand on Jane's leg. "Are you okay?"
"I will be, I should have told him off yesterday. That bastard," Jane clenched her fists. "He wants Ma to sign annulment papers. Like him filing for divorce wasn't bad enough. I never felt so much hatred for that man. I think I've been holding it in way too long."
Korsak sighed, "I'm so sorry about this Jane."
"So you said you had a story of why Ma ended up here?" Jane asked, looking at Korsak who nodded.
"Yeah well, it all started when Angela was training Lydia tonight, it was a very good thing that I was there to keep an eye on her, imagine if I wasn't there."
"Wait not only is Lydia working at the Cafe but she's working at the Dirty Robber?"
Korsak nodded, "Yeah, that's right. I'm pretty sure she started to work at the Robber was to get close to Angela. Lydia was the one who told Frank to come tonight. He tried to give Angela the papers there but she ripped them up, didn't even look at them. He told her he had made other copies."
Jane turned to Korsak, "Hold up, so Lydia is taking care of the bar, right now? You said she can't work for shit."
"I called Frankie to ask if he wouldn't mind watching over her at the bar so she wouldn't burn the place down. You two are the only ones who knows Angela is here, I just told Frankie I had to take her home. He was already worried enough once I called him."
"Vincent, I think you should have told him his mother had to go to the hospital," Maura frowned.
"I know but I didn't want to freak everyone out, I thought it would be best to not have Angela feel over crowded. If I'm not mistaken I'm sure she had an anxiety attack of sorts. She was upset that I knew Lydia was engaged to Frank and didn't tell her yesterday. When he left she looked paler than she has been looking, she threw up in the bathroom. If I wasn't standing outside the bathroom door she would have fallen to the floor, and probably be worse off than she was. She closed her eyes and slid to the floor, I held her as I called the ambulance."
Jane listened to his story, and ran her hands through her hair in frustration. "I just- I'm so glad you were there Korsak, I knew Ma shouldn't have waited a week before going to the doctor's. I wish she would have listened to reason."
"Stubborness runs in the family," Maura patted Jane's leg. "I'm thirsty, did you guys want anything to drink?"
"Thanks Maura, water would be fine with me," Korsak smiled warmly at her.
"I seen those Starbucks cans in the vending machine, you mind getting me two of those, I have a feeling it's going to be a long night."
"You sure you don't want some green tea?"
Jane just looked up at Maura and frowned, "It's not like I'm asking for beer Maura, I need coffee not your tea recommendations."
Maura just nodded and went to go find the vending machines. Korsak looked over at Jane. "Hey, it's going to be okay Jane."
She moved over to sit next to Korsak, "Is it really though Korsak? I'm fuckin' scared okay? When Maura told me Ma was going to the hospital I was scared... I know parents shouldn't outlive their kids, but God dammit Korsak, if I lost my mother I just... I don't know what I would do," she leaned back against the chair and closed her eyes. "I know she's overbearing and can be annoying at times, but she's always loved me, she never gave me a reason to doubt that. She's the only real parent that I ever had," she ran her hands over her pants and looked over at Korsak, her eyes red. "I can't lose her Vince, she has to be okay. Why hasn't the fuckin' doctor come out yet?"
Korsak couldn't stand seeing Jane like this, he pulled her into a hug, to comfort her. "Like Maura said she's stubborn, she'll come out of this, that's how I'm trying to look at it. I can't think about the what ifs because God Jane, I've loved your mother more than I ever loved anyone, I think about losing her and it tears me apart."
Jane nodded, hearing Maura's footsteps and pulled away from Korsak, wiping her wet cheeks. "Thanks Maura," Jane sighed, taking the cans of Starbucks, opening one and taking a long swig of it.
Maura handed Korsak his water and sat down next to Jane. "It's going to be okay Jane, it just has to be. Angela means the world to me."
"I know, I just want the doctor to hurry the hell up. God I hate waiting," she put her drink down and rested her head on Maura's shoulder, reaching over to take her hand. Maura kissed the top of Jane's head and squeezed her fingers.
Korsak couldn't help but observe the two of them, despite being worried about Angela, he was glad that the girls had each other. Jane was strong, but a strong person doesn't always have to feel that way at the end of the day. He thinks after all these years of knowing Jane, he has never seen her be so human than she has been the past couple of months, being able to express herself instead of acting tough. Part of him knew she had Maura to thank for that.
They spent a little longer waiting before the doctor came out, he walked up to Korsak and the girls. Jane sat up straight, still holding onto Maura's hand.
"How's my mother, Doc?" Jane asked.
Doctor Jensen nodded, "She's holding up just nicely. We had to run a few tests, we are about to do a blood transfusion her hemoglobin levels were pretty low. She's going to be alright, for the most part, she's a little out of it right now, so we don't really want her to see anybody right now while we do the process." He told Jane before turning to Korsak. "Sargeant Korsak, there is something that we need to discuss privately, if you don't mind that I borrow him for a minute Detective Rizzoli?"
Jane looked at Maura and then back to the doctor, "Yeah sure," she sighed and Doctor Jensen and Korsak went somewhere a little more private. Korsak was on edge of what he wanted to talk about.
"There's something that you need to know, it's probably best that you sit down for this..."
"Why couldn't you tell us all at the same time?" Korsak asked and Doctor Jensen looked at him.
"I know Detective Rizzoli, sir and let me just say that this news is probably best heard on a one on one basis for right now. I think it was best for you to hear it first. And it's best she heard it from you and not me."
Korsak sat down in the chair, "Is Angela dying?"
Doctor Jensen shook his head, "She's not, but I need to ask, have you ever thought of getting a vasectomy? It's a pretty simple procedure and it would help from any more incidents from happening."
Korsak looked up at the Doctor and felt a little faint. "Wait a sec, are you telling me that..." he paused taking a deep breath. "Are you telling me that Angela is..."
He nodded, "Yeah, she's expecting. It's not that common that a woman in her 50's can get pregnant, but from her family history menopause starts a little later in life and well we've had a couple of women at this hospital have pregnancies later in life, during perimenopause. She's about three and a half weeks along. But since she's older she's at a higher risk of having a child early or... the other thing we don't particularly like to discuss. It's all here in the pamphlet," Doctor Jensen pulled out a pamphlet about the risks of an older woman pregnancy. "It's vital that she takes precautions if she wants to have a successful pregnancy. She eats pretty healthy, but she's going to need to eat more things with iron. And she'll need to have more visits to the doctors, and we are giving her some medication to help as well."
Korsak just took the pamphlet holding it in his hands, he was still in shock. "I- are you sure she's pregnant?"
Doctor Jensen nodded, "Yes, we done the tests, we are positive. I know it's hard to believe, I also have this, it can be useful for Detective Rizzoli to cope with the situation." He gave him another pamphlet. "It's directed towards older children of mothers who are expecting a child later in life, deals with acceptance, shock and other things. I wrote it myself when my mother was expecting a child in her 50's."
He just looked at the doctor and frowned, "How do you expect me to tell her that her mother is... that I got her mother pregnant?" Korsak sighed. "Do you have a pamphlet on vasectomies too?"
He smirked and pulled one out, "I do actually, brought it just in case you thought of needing that as an option. Oh and one more thing, it's probably best to keep sexual activities to a minimum while Angela's with child. She shouldn't be overexerting herself, or else she could be spending almost her whole pregnancy on bed rest."
Korsak nodded, "I'll keep that in mind," he stood up, still feeling kind of numb. "You sure you can't tell Jane yourself?"
"Trust me, I think it would be best for her to hear it from you, or you don't have to say anything. When my mother had gotten pregnant I just got handed the pamphlet. My father didn't know how to tell me either," Doctor Jensen patted his back. "I should go get started on the blood transfusion for Angela."
"Um... thanks Doc." He sighed, just standing there as he looked at the pamphlets. "If anyone is going to put me in an early grave, it's going to be Jane," he sighed, recalling Frank's smart ass comment from earlier at the Dirty Robber. Korsak made his way back to Jane and Maura, they stood up as soon as he came back.
"What did the doctor say Korsak?" Jane asked, Korsak felt nerves as he looked at Jane.
"I uh... Jane you um... should sit down..."
"Korsak, what the hell is going on?" Jane observed Korsak's expression. "Why isn't the doctor telling me? You look like you're about to go in cardiac arrest."
"Maybe you should sit down Vincent," Maura looked at the man and he nodded.
"Okay yeah... good idea," he sat down, trying to calm his nerves. This was probably the hardest thing Korsak was probably going to ever tell Jane, and it scared the shit out of him. Jane noticed Korsak holding pamphlets, the top one said something about vasectomies, she took the pamphlets from his hands and she moved the top pamphlet and seen the next one. She felt like the world was about to explode right from beneath her feet, she sat down on the chair and Maura looked at them both in concern.
"Okay, what's the matter? You two are starting to scare me," she looked in concern and Jane showed her the pamphlet about risks of older woman pregnancies. Maura just looked and frowned, "Are you sure?"
Korsak fiddled with his hands, "I yeah... that's what Doctor Jensen told me."
Maura just nodded, "Oh, I see," she put the pamphlets down and went to sit down next to Jane, resting a hand on her leg which was bouncing up and down. "Jane it's going to be okay..." she tried to reassure her. Jane just sat there for a few minutes, feeling numb and she could feel the anger boiling up inside of her. Moments passed and then she felt like she was about to snap, and that she did.
She stood up and looked at Korsak. "I can't fuckin' believe it! Vincent Walter Korsak, I have never, ever wanted to punch you in the face as bad as I want to do right now. What the fuck were you thinking? Oh wait, you weren't. It's called protection Korsak, you use that shit when you're fucking my mother. You guys are full grown adults yet you weren't even thinking about the possibility that you could knock her up. I seriously hope you enjoyed it because you've just ruined my mother's life, she could die from this Korsak, she could have died tonight because you weren't thinking. I can't even look at you right now I'm so angry with you," she balled her fists, Maura stood up to try to calm Jane down. "Don't even think of telling me to calm down Maura. How the fuck am I supposed to calm down? He knocked up my 53 year old mother, I need to get out of here. Don't follow me, I just... I can't deal with this shit right now. Call me whenever I can see my mother, whenever he's nowhere near her," Jane snatched her coffee and stormed off. Maura just stood there a frown on her face, she wanted nothing more than to go after Jane, but she wasn't sure if that would be the wisest choice. She turned to Korsak and sat down next to him. He looked embarassed, scared, and sad.
"She fuckin' hates me," Korsak let out the breath he was holding and his face fell into his hands. Maura rested her hand on his back.
"She-she just needs to go calm down... you know Jane, Vincent. She just needs time," she tried to reassure the older man. "You mean the world to her Korsak, she's just in shock," Maura sighed, she felt Korsak tense up.
"Maura, she trusted me, and I failed her... I put her mother in harm's way, there's no coming back from that," Korsak sighed. "Trust me it's Jane Rizzoli, she's not going to forgive me unless Angela comes out of this pregnancy unharmed. And it already doesn't look promising."
Maura sighed, "We'll do whatever we can to make sure Angela comes out of this, I promise you. I'll help do whatever it takes, the doctor gave us the pamphlet for a reason," she reached over and grabbed it. "Angela is stronger than anyone realizes. You don't really think that this will ruin your friendship with Jane forever, do you? That can really become a problem."
