Chapter 33

"Why is he here?" May whispers angrily at the bluenette.

After Drew passed out, the Berlitz Beauties staff placed him in a comfortable chair with a blanket. Dawn showed up shortly after where she and May left for May's shop because May needs to go back to work. Owen is worriedly watching over Drew along with the rest of the Berlitz Beauties staff while Paul is obviously with May and Dawn.

Sighing, Dawn replies, "He came by himself. I told him I wanted to discuss business once I was back in LaRousse City. I never expected him to come out here."

May isn't sure she can believe this woman who so desperately wanted her and Drew together years ago. However, Dawn has never lied to May. May studies Dawn's face, and nothing in her demeanor seems to be indicating that she's lying. Letting out a breath, May mutters, "Don't let him come near me." Brenden had just left for his business trip yesterday, so May really doesn't need anyone interfering with her life right now.

Nodding, Dawn tells her, "I won't. Paul and I will try our best to keep him away. But he really did lose his memories, May. He won't bother you because the him now doesn't care for you." As much as it hurts May hearing this, she knows it's true, and Dawn knows she needs to reassure May of her now peaceful life without Drew.

"Thanks, Dawn."

"Do you know why he passed out though?" Dawn asks. She had arrived when the workers were moving Drew to a chair. After receiving Cheryl's frantic phone call, Dawn and Paul hurried to arrive to help May avoid Drew. They never expected to see the green haired man unconscious, but Owen refuses to call an ambulance due to Drew not wanting one.

May shrugs. All she remembers is him reading her name tag and saying her name. Then he let her go as he fell to the ground. While she is worried, she knows this isn't the same Drew as before. Therefore, May, with a heavy heart, is trying to ignore his existence.

"Okay. Well, I guess I should go check on him." Dawn gives May a small smile. "I'll keep him away. No need to worry!"

May gratefully smiles back. She'll trust Dawn because Dawn has never lied to her before. "Thanks again, Dawn."

"What are friends for?" Dawn and Paul then walk out of the shop. With Fiona being on lunch and the other staff in the back, no one overheard May's and Dawn's conversation. Plus, Paul was overseeing them so that they wouldn't be interrupted. The scary bodyguard really comes in handy, though May is still surprised that he and Dawn are together.

As May stands behind the register waiting for customers, her mind can't help but wander to that green haired man. Is he okay? What happened? Why won't they call an ambulance? Gosh, stop it, May! He left her! He made his choice, and she's happy with Brenden now! Shaking her head, May happily greets the customers entering the shop. This is how things are supposed to be.

Berlitz Beauties

"Drew."

"What do you want now?" the man yells into the dark hazy room. He's tired of this. This is the third time he's in here, and he knows it means something now. What's going on?

"Remember."

"Remember what? What do you want me to remember?" Drew exasperates into the space. All he wants to do is remember those three years. It sucks knowing he's missing a large part of his life, and no one wants to tell him about it. It sucks having these headaches. It sucks not having Solidad anymore. Life just really sucks!

"Me." As soon as the image of the back of a brunette woman appears, it disappears, and Drew's eyes shoot open with a loud gasp. He closes his eyes to try and recapture that image, but it's gone. What was that? Who is she? Why couldn't he see a face? There are plenty of brunette women!

"Mr. Drew!" Owen's panicked voice makes Drew look over.

He spots Dawn and Paul, but the woman from earlier is gone. "What happened?"

"You passed out." Dawn knowingly tells him. When he was here yesterday, he grew pale and left quickly. Today, he passed out. Is Drew sick? While Dawn doesn't want to concern herself with him anymore, he was once her friend, so she's worried about him, though she won't show it to him.

The green haired man struggles to stand up, but his weak legs make him fall back in his seat. "Fuck." he mutters as Owen frantically caters to him again.

"Maybe you should go back to LaRousse City?" Dawn suggests. "Focus on your health, and we can discuss business when I return."

Shaking his head, Drew replies, "No. I have time this week, so I want to speak with you here."

"Can you even think?" Dawn asks. Owen had shared that Drew gets a lot of headaches due to stress. However, Dawn has never heard of anyone passing out from their headaches like this. It's very concerning.

"Yeah." Drew replies. Taking in a deep breath, he gathers the strength to stand up. He refuses Owen's help as he turns to face Dawn. Extending a hand, Drew gives her a surprisingly genuine smile. "I am interested in doing business with you, Ms. Berlitz. Will you have dinner with me today so we can discuss this?"

Dawn finds her eyes glancing over at the stoic Paul. He shrugs slightly, which makes Dawn sigh. She did reach out to Drew, so she may as well take him up on his dinner invitation. Taking his hand, she shakes it with a thin smile on her face. "It would be my pleasure, Mr. Drew."

When Drew smirks and flicks his hair, Dawn considers cutting off the deal right now. "Just call me Drew." he winks at her, making Paul slightly annoyed. Fortunately, that's all the energy Drew seems to have, so he excuses himself and Owen. He tells Dawn that he'll message her with a place to meet him for dinner. In the meantime, Drew is opting for a nice nap to alleviate the pain in his head.

Dinner

"Why?" Drew smirks while leaning back in his seat. He and Owen had arrived for their dinner reservation shortly before Dawn and Paul. The two heirs have been eating and discussing business for some time. Now, Drew is questioning why Dawn changed her mind to want his business after adamantly refusing it a few weeks ago.

Dawn knows this is a plausible question for him to ask, especially since Paul prepared her for it. Looking into Drew's cool emerald eyes, Dawn replies, "Do you remember what I asked you when you visited me at my office?"

"That you wouldn't do business with me."

She shakes her head. Of course this Drew Hayden wouldn't listen to everything she says. "I asked you if you believe money solves everything? Does it buy everything?"

"Duh. You know that." He obviously forgot this question because it's so stupid. Money makes the world go round. Money makes everything better. Money can buy anything!

"So do you believe it buys happiness?" Dawn inquires. She's trying really hard not to blow up on this arrogant man who used to be her sweet friend.

"It buys cars, vacations, houses. Yeah. It buys things that make me happy." Drew doesn't see where she's getting at with this. They're supposed to be talking about their businesses. Not about money and personal stuff.

Sighing, Dawn takes a sip from her wine. "Are you happy, Mr. Drew?"

"I don't see why you're asking all of these questions." Drew doesn't trust her. Why is she so interested in his feelings? Brianna did say he chose her over Dawn; therefore, Drew needs to be careful.

Dawn's midnight orbs flick back at Drew's eyes. "Sure, Mr. Drew. Based on your logic, your money is bringing a lot of happiness to the children at the orphanage. The orphanage is important to me, but I can't provide it everything it needs, like Hayden Corporation can. So in exchange for doing business with me, all I ask for is that you don't cut the funding at the orphanage."

"Why do you care so much about it?" There's nothing in the news tying Dawn to the orphanage. Drew had researched it prior to coming to Petalburg since he found it weird that she requested that over the phone. She doesn't want any of the profits from her partnership with Hayden Corporation. Rather, she wants the money to go into the orphanage? Just who is this seemingly righteous woman?

Smirking at Drew, Dawn responds, "Just like you, I have my own secrets I'm not willing to tell." She hasn't asked him about his headaches, so she doesn't expect him to delve into her personal matters either.

Drew can't help but return the smirk. She really is a great business woman. What was he thinking choosing Brianna over Dawn? Extending a hand like he had done earlier, Drew tells her, "I guess we have a deal then."

He'll keep funding the orphanage in exchange for the Berlitz Beauties partnership. Drew hasn't cut the funding completely yet due to his many questions surrounding it. He had dreamt about it, and he experienced his first headache where he passed out there. Moreover, the orphanage is important to Solidad, and now Dawn too. Drew finds that the orphanage has the answers to a lot of his questions, so he won't cut ties with it just yet.

Dawn reaches out to shake his hand for the second time today. "We have a deal, Mr. Drew."

"Just call me Drew already." He winks at her.

Dawn wipes her mouth with her napkin before dropping it on the table and getting up. She won't call him that. The Drew she knows isn't this man. Therefore, she will keep him as distant as possible by keeping their relationship professional. Turning to Paul, Dawn says, "Let's go." The bodyguard nods as he follows his heiress. "I'll have my team send you a contract to look over later. Bye, Mr. Drew."

Once Dawn leaves, Drew looks over at Owen to give the secretary a sheepish smile. "Do my charms not work on her or something?"

"It seems like she and her bodyguard are close." Owen has taken notice of the way Paul and Dawn behave around each other. Although their interactions seem discreet, Owen has his suspicions.

Drew smirks at this because it gives him an edge over Dawn if he ever needs it. A good businessman never reveals all of his secrets at once. Wiping his mouth with his napkin, Drew now stands up. He tosses a few bills on the table before he and Owen leave the restaurant. Petalburg City has been interesting.

The Next Day

Since Drew and Dawn already spoke about the contract, he'll just wait for her people to send it to him. Therefore, he doesn't need to be in Petalburg City anymore. Nevertheless, something is bothering him, so he'll spend his last couple of hours investigating without the overly concerned Owen. It's easy for Drew to sneak out of the hotel because Owen has a separate room.

Donning his commoner clothes of a grey hoodie with the hood up to cover his hair under the black cap. Drew walks through the crowded hall in his jeans and sneakers as well as the sunglasses hiding his face more. He can't be too relaxed being famous because anyone can recognize him. Thus, he's going for the overly covered up look. Fortunately, it's fall, so wearing a hoodie isn't too weird.

When Drew nears the construction for Berlitz Beauties, he doesn't turn into it. Instead, he enters the store across the hall where he's noticed Dawn frequents. If his suspicions are correct, then that brunette who argued with him is there too. She was wearing a name tag, so she has to work at this mall.

Walking in, he's greeted by a friendly girl with black hair. "Hello! How can we help you today?"

Remembering her name from yesterday, Drew replies, "Is May here?" He brings his hand up to his chest as he feels an intense ache. Why did that happen?

Fiona suspiciously looks at the man softly speaking and extremely covered up. She knows Brenden is out of town, so she doesn't want to risk putting May in danger with this man. "She's not here." Fiona lies.

Sighing, Drew looks around the shop. "I'll wait." He tells the nervous girl before walking around.

Fiona makes sure to keep an eye on him in case he steals something or tries to plant a hidden camera. She warns the other worker about the weird man, and she also tells the worker to tell May to stay in the backroom where May is currently taking inventory.

May, however, will not allow her teenage colleagues to work in fear of a suspicious man, even if he is asking for her. Walking out, despite her worker's warning, May sees Fiona behind the counter watching the hooded man. "What's going on?" May whispers, causing the girl to be startled.

Returning her attention to Drew, Fiona says, "He's looking for you! You should hide!"

May puts a reassuring hand on Fiona's shoulder and smiles. "I can handle weirdos, Fiona."

"But Brenden isn't here."

"Dawn and Paul are." May reminds her. Even though May hasn't taken up Dawn's offers for rides home and dinner due to the whole Drew situation, May knows she can rely on the bluenette and her bodyguard. May also trusts Paul can handle weird stalkers. With Dawn and Paul being here for a few more weeks, May isn't too worried about who she encounters.

Walking over to the hooded man, May clears her throat. "Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" When she sees he's wearing sunglasses, it further adds to her suspicions. Who wears sunglasses inside? And the shop is dimly lit too. However, the store policy isn't to kick out people without a reason, so she will have to wait until he leaves on his own.

Drew instantly recognizes her as the woman from yesterday, which is confirmed by her nametag. This is May. Although smiling at him, he knows she's only doing so because of her job. Instead of replying, he chooses to use the time to examine her. Why does she look so familiar? Why does she make his heart pound? All they've done is argue so far. Is it because she irritates him that much already?

"Sir?"

Her voice breaks him from his trance. Gosh, even her voice sounds familiar! He fights the urge to clutch his painful head. "Uh. I'm looking for something." He lies. He didn't think of what to say. Well, he kind of did, but he forgot it as soon as he saw her. This is not Drew Hayden at all! Drew Hayden never gets flustered.

Nodding, May asks, "What are you looking for exactly?"

"A gift." Maybe he'll grab Brianna something? Nah. She doesn't like cheap gifts.

"For a boy or girl?"

"Boy." Maybe he'll get Owen something as a way to show his appreciation for his secretary?

May leads Drew to the mens section where she inquires, "Are you looking for a top or bottom?"

"Top. Maybe a-" Drew doubles over where he leans against a shelf. Bringing a hand up to his head, he clutches it, but this causes him to knock his sunglasses off. They fall to the floor, though the man is in too much pain to notice. What the heck is this? Shirt. Shirt? Why did that just pop into his mind now?

"Are you okay, sir?" May worriedly finds herself putting a hand on his arm. She tries to gaze at his face to see how much pain he is in, but his hands are hiding it from her.

Groaning, Drew manages out, "Shirt." He takes in a deep breath as his headache is subsiding. Removing his hands from his face, Drew looks at the shocked woman. "I'm looking for a new shirt."
