Chapter 8 The Roman Colosseum Challenge
A.N. – Okay, this chapter uses an idea submitted by a guest and two groups of characters make an appearance. But mainly, this chapter is set on retaking Italy. So, let's begin!

Short Summary – Odd is still grieving over his parent's death and everyone tries to get him back to normal. After the fact, they head to Rome and encounter two groups of people looking to restore freedom to Rome. But the only way to do it is to play the security program's sadistic game in the Roman Colosseum.
Disclaimer – I do not own Code Lyoko. I am just a fan of the show. The Assassins and Templars are owned by Ubisoft.
Romania Base
Odd has been sitting alone for two days straight now. He is still grieving for his parent's death. He did not expect that to happen. Either the security program knew they were coming, or it was revenge for taking away Melissa. Odd could not think straight and has been quiet ever since. Even Melissa couldn't break him out of it.
"He is still grieving hard" Yumi said.
"We need him. If we are ever to take back Italy, we need a full team" Ulrich said.
"You don't know what he is feeling though" Aelita stated.
"Listen, I don't like my dad, but I don't want to see him die."
"But you also never lost a parent."
"Aelita knows more than you do Ulrich" Yumi says.
"Aelita, try to talk to him. You know what's it like. Maybe you can relate to him" Ulrich said.
"It's worth a shot" Aelita said. She walked over to where Odd was.
"What do you want Aelita?" Odd said depressed.
"Just to talk."
"I don't want to talk."
"Well, you need to. You bottle up your emotions, they will overtake you and eventually tear you down mentally and emotionally. Eventually, you just collapse all together."
"How do you know?"
"Odd, I lost my father and mother. I thought they were both dead. I lived with that reality for years. I didn't forget it, but I didn't let it tear me down. I'm not asking you to forget it, but at least get back in right mind set so we can get back to what we are doing. Don't worry, you parent's death will not be in vain."
Odd though about Aelita's words. He knew that she lost her father and mother. He just lost both almost as fast as Aelita lost hers. He knew that if he wanted to avenge them, he needed to confront the security program and William in Paris for the final fight. He stood up.
"I'm not gonna let their deaths be in vain. Let's go get them."
"Glad to have you back."
Jeremy's Room
The warriors gathered around in Jeremy's room to discuss Rome.
"Okay, Rome is the capitol" Jeremy said.
"Not to be mean, but it also sucks too" Odd said.
"What do you mean?" Yumi said.
"Everyone talks about as one great city, but it isn't. I imagine that the security program has not changed it."
"I agree with Odd. The only thing Rome has going for it is historical sites. And I think your destination will be the Roman Colosseum" Jeremy says.
"Okay, let's go" Aelita said and they headed out back to Italy.
Unknown Location
In an unknown location, a massive group of people were gathered around a pedestal. One laid a map down.
"I know we don't like each other, but let's free Rome from these overlords" a man said.
"We'll be here held up, waiting for your signal. You start the attack, and we'll overpower them. They won't stand a chance" a second man said.
"Sound like a plan. Let's move."
Rome
The Lyoko Warriors moved and as they continued, they took in all the ancient historical relics that still stood.
"Considering all that happened, it's hard to believe in the epicenter that all this remains" Aelita said.
"Like I said, the security program used Paris as an example and the world probably surrendered without firing a shot. After that, the world is yours. I mean it only took two days for the security program to defeat us, exile us, and then take over the world" Yumi said.
"Yeah, only this time, we'll defeat him" Ulrich said.
"Odd, I think you may be able to harm the security program now" Aelita said.
"Really? Why and how?" Odd asked.
"Losing Melissa was your worst fear and getting her back kind of gets rid of that fear."
"What about me? When do I join the club?" Ulrich asked.
"What's your fear? What did the security program use against you in the tower?"
"He showed me my parents almost dying during Xana's anti-gravity attack. Like I said, I might not like my dad, but I don't want to see him, or my mom die."
"Let's just hope when we get to Germany, he will not meet the same fate as Odd's" Yumi said.
"If he lays one finger on them, I'll make him suffer."
Suddenly a Krab came running past them.
"Did that Krab not even acknowledge the fact that we were here?" Odd said.
"Let's follow it" Aelita said.
They follow the Krab to a location in Rome and what they saw shocked them. They saw a bunch of hooded men and men in medieval type armor fighting the monsters. The medieval type men distracted the monsters while the hooded ones took them out. The Krab they saw was their next victim. A medieval guy got its attention. One of the hooded men appeared behind it and slashed the back legs. The Krab fell backwards and the hooded man stabbed the eye.
"Creative" Ulrich said.
"Who are these guys?" Aelita said.
The Lyoko Warriors went to introduce themselves to these people, but when they disappeared.
"Did we just imagine that?" Ulrich said.
"We couldn't have. These monsters are dead" Yumi said.
Suddenly all of them were grabbed from behind and had blades held to their neck. These guys were killers. Suddenly two of them appeared. One from each side.
"Who are you?" a hooded one said.
"Someone looking to free this country" Aelita responded.
"How do we know we can trust you?" the medieval one asked.
"Because we didn't try to kill you."
"Because you didn't get the opportunity to" the hooded one responded.
"Did we resist?"
"Let them go." They let go of the warriors. "You shouldn't have come."
"Why?"
"This country is falling apart. We are finding it hard to keep order here. The more of theses mechanical terrors we kill, the more pop up."
"We are the only ones who can put a stop to that."
"And how exactly can you do that?" the medieval one asked.
"We know who's sending them. If we can get back to Paris, we can put an end to all of it."
"Then what are you doing here in Rome?"
"Our quest is to free the whole world before we take out the source."
"War is changing every century. First, it's fight till everyone on side is dead. Now it's conquer. What's next complete destruction?" the hooded one said.
"You'd be surprised" Yumi said.
"It's worse somewhere else isn't it?" Yumi nodded. "Where do you need to go?"
"The colosseum" Aelita responded.
"Head down this road and you'll run straight into it It's hard to miss" the medieval one said.
"Who are you?"
"We are the assassins, and these are the templars" the assassin said.
"How do you guys not get murdered?"
"We were always in hiding and secretive that the security program never knew of us. So, when Rome came under siege recently, we sprung into action in a temporary alliance. Naturally we hate each other. But we are playing nice, for now" the templar said.
"Okay. Your always welcome to help us take back all of Europe."
"We are natural born citizen of Rome. We'll defend it with our lives. The rest of Europe is of no concern to us."
"Well nice to meet you."
"Same to you. Good luck."
The Lyoko Warriors walked in the direction of the colosseum.
"What a strange group of people."
"This world is full of strange people" Ulrich said.
"Yeah, but this was super strange."
Roman Colosseum
The Lyoko Warriors arrived at the colosseum. The groups of people were not lying. They head inside and make their way to the main arena. They saw a podium and soon the security program and William appeared.
"Welcome to the colosseum. We'll make a deal with you. If you can defeat our challenge. We'll let you have Rome and Italy" William said.
"Why are you here?" Ulrich said.
"To watch" the security program said.
"Let the challenge begin" William said.
The doors opened and hordes of monster come out. They all ranged from Krabs to Bloks to Tarantulas. A war was going to be happening in the Colosseum.
Rome
The assassins and the templars were considering the fact of helping the warriors.
"We should help them" the assassin said.
"They are going to need it" the templar said.
"Let's regroup and head there."
Inside the Colosseum
The monsters began their assault. A barrage of lasers came from all the monsters that there was no break for the warriors to find an opening. Yumi threw her fans and was able to get rid of two Bloks. Ulrich deflected the lasers as Odd and Aelita fired from around the corners of him. The monsters were starting to get cut down, but the lasers still kept firing.
"I'm moving! Super sprint!" Ulrich said as he ran towards the monsters. He jumped up into the air and landed on a Krab. He stabbed the eye and stabbed three more of them. He then landed on a Blok and stabbed the eye. "Impact!" The only monster that remained was the Tarantulas. They all turned to Ulrich, but his friends took out the three that surrounded him. "Thanks for the save!"
"Is that all you got for us?" Odd said.
"No, we have other friends" William said.
Another set of doors opened and more of the freelance soldiers came through with gladiator armor.
"These assholes again!" Yumi said.
Outside the Colosseum
The templars and assassins made their way to the Colosseum and they enter and plan to help the warriors and take down the security program within.
"We'll take the top and you guys assist them on the bottom" the assassin says.
They head inside and start their assault.
Inside the Colosseum
The Lyoko Warriors were locked in combat with the freelance soldiers but were not making a dent. They used their guns but also used various melee combat weapons which made them a deadly force. William and the security program though they had them this time.
But behind them the assassins appeared and used their ability of stealth to sneak up on them without them knowing.
The warriors were about ready to give up.
"This is how it ends" Ulrich says.
William and the security program were suddenly grabbed from behind and also had blades held to their neck.
"What's going on?" William asked.
"No questions or we'll see wat happens" one of the assassins said.
Since there was only tow the rest jumped down and assisted the warriors as the templars came at the same time and started to kill the freelance soldiers. Soon after, they were all dead and the assassins still held the security program and William.
"What shall we do with these two? Kill them?" an assassin asked.
"What will happen?" another assassin asked on the ground.
"You can't kill them. Not in this state. But it will get them out of here" Aelita said.
"Execute them."
They sliced their necks and they disappeared and returned to Paris.
"They vanished" the assassin said.
"That normal?"
"It's about what we expected" Aelita answered.
"I see."
"Thanks for coming back."
"We felt like it was the right thing to do."
They exited the Colosseum and with Italy free the resistance moved their base South, near the coast of Sicily. The warriors will remember the assassins and the templars. As secretive as they were, no one will ever see or know of their existence past this war.
A.N. – Sorry for the late upload. Life got in the way and I only wrote half yesterday. I'll try to get the next chapter up tomorrow to be back on the normal rate of uploading. Next time, the warriors will enter Sicily and encounter the mafia. It will be a The Godfather inspired chapter! Again, the Assassin's Creed character idea was submitted by a guest reviewer.
