The Tyrannosaur chased our heroes through the jungle, crashing through the small trees and shrubs, roaring loudly. With jaws that could open 8 feet wide, it was a true terror to behold. However, after a pursuit through the scrubby trees, they all came to a grove of big, thick trees. It was then the Tyrannosaur didn't follow the kids, possibly due to the fact that the trees were becoming too thick. After it wandered off, to the kids' relief, Izzy decided to name it.
"I'll call it 'Vastatosaurus Rex' or 'Ravager Lizard King'. It appears to be the apex predator of Lemuria." Izzy observed.
"I sure hope so." Matt said. "If it isn't, then that means there's a bigger meat eating dinosaur out there."
"Oh, you had me worried there Matt." TK said. "In that case, I hope it's the apex predator too."
The kids ventured further in the jungle, eventually coming to the entrance to a larger network of caverns. The sun was able to get through cracks and holes in the ceiling, so plants were able to grow, and in the soft twilight, some of the plants were glowing, like in James Cameron's Avatar.
The kids were all amazed, astounded and dazzled by the majestic sight.
"Woah." Tai remarked. "This must be that part of the jungle that Cronicaal mentioned."
"I wonder if you could ever use these for a night light!" Mimi exclaimed.
After trekking through the caves, passing by underground lakes and streams filled with life of all sorts, reminiscent of the limestone caverns of southeast China, until they finally came across a cave with only a little light coming in, and at its center, there was a great dead tree in a stagnant lake. There was a glowing purple orb at the base of the tree.
"Hey!" Tai exclaimed. "This looks like the tree that Cronicaal told us about!"
"If so," Izzy stated. "then that must be one of the crests down there!
Our heroes ventured closer towards the orb, only to find a disgusting sight: The orb was still in the clutches of a half eaten human corpse. A 6 foot long salamander like amphibian was feeding on the corpse, much to Joe's disgust.
"OH HOLY GOOD GOD!" Joe screamed at the sight. "Putrid! Disgusting! Horrid! Horrible! UNSANITARY!"
The giant amphibian in question was, as Izzy would come to call it, Rhinesuchus, or "nose crocodile", a relic from a long gone age. All the way from the Permian era, before the Triassic period, this temnospondyl amphibian is found in various parts of Lemuria, from stagnant pools of vegetation choked water, to high mountain cedar forest lakes, where the water would often get too cold for crocodiles.
Tai took some hand sanitizer and went towards the crest, which scared off the giant, carnivorous amphibian into the water. After sanitizing it, he picked the crest up. It was the Crest of Knowledge, which Izzy took.
"We got it!" Tai said. Little did our heroes know, there were more far more challenges awaiting them.
