As the airship carrying Ruby and Yang finally lands and its doors open the blonde boy quickly disembarks lurching over a nearby trashcan before discarding the contents of his stomach. The girls merely offer unsure but somewhat sympathetic glance as they pass before they catch sight of the vast castle-like structure before them. Both girls simply breathing out wow as they continue their path along the courtyard taking in the full view and scope of the Beacon academy campus.
Yang happily crosses her arms before resting her weight to one side and commenting,
"The view from Vale's got nothing on this!"
As the older sister still takes in the feel of the campus around her Ruby quickly instead directs her attention to the various other weapons her classmates carry.
"Ooh! Ooh! Sis! That kid has a collapsible staff! And she's got a fire sword!"
Before Ruby can tail after the other students' Yang grabs her hood quickly, pulling her back from her weapon obsessed stupor.
"Easy there, my dear little sister. They're just weapons."
At this Ruby directs her attention back to her sister giving a face of shock as if Yang had said something unbelievable before she argued,
"Just weapons? They're an extension of ourselves! They're a part of us! They're so cool!"
Yang never could understand her sister's fascination and fawn over weapons, Ruby was a little weird in that respect. When meeting new people, her sister would be meek and shy barely able to string together a sentence, but if the topic of conversation was about weaponry in any facet, the girl seemed to instantly gain newfound confidence and could talk for hours, days almost without a hitch. To this Yang questioned Ruby as to why she could not swoon over her own weapon in such a manner internally hoping to dissuade the girl from chasing down some poor new year students and talking their ears off, no doubt freaking the individuals out not even ten minutes after arriving.
To this Ruby simply removed her weapon from the small of her back before unsheathing the weapon out to its full size and laying it over her shoulder seeming to cuddle the weapons handle.
"Of course, I'm happy with Crescent Rose! I just really like seeing new ones. It's like meeting new people."
"But better" Ruby quietly finished her thought barely above a whisper.
Yang seeing this, opted to pull the girls red hood over her head in a teasing manner before ushering the girl on to try and make some new friends of her own. Ruby removed her hood before giving her sister another quizzical look and questioning why she would need new friends when she has her older sister.
Yang darted her gaze to the side, attempting not to make eye contact with the young girl before excusing herself and zooming off with a small group of other students following behind.
"Well… actually, my friends are here so gotta go catch up, Kay c'ya bye."
As Yang bolted off, Ruby asks a flurry of questions still dizzy from the speed her sister left with.
"Wait, are we supposed to go to our dorms?"
"Where are our dorms?"
"…Do we even have dorms?"
"I don't know what I'm doing." With this final breath of confusion Ruby collides with a wheeled dolly carrying multiple large white luggage cases and as the cases clatter to the ground around her Ruby only hears another voice exclaim,
"What are you doing?" yells a white-haired female behind her adorning a thigh-length strapless dress with a soft colour gradation from white to pale blue at the hem with layers of white tulle under the skirt. Over this, she wears a bell-sleeved bolero with the same colour gradation as her dress from shoulder to wrist, lined in red and with a ruffled collar and a snowflake logo printed into the back of the bolero.
Ruby realising her current predicament quickly begins to apologise while attempting to help pick up the cases but the white-haired figure standing above does not seem convinced and snatches the case from her hands before explaining with great pride that the cases contain 'Dust' mined and purified directly from the Schnee quarry, the snobbish figure then launches into a tirade directed at the poor girl questioning her on if she understands the damage that can be caused and just what she is doing as she seems far too juvenile to be at an actual academy let alone one such as Beacon. However, as the white figure continues her tirade shaking a leaking vial of 'Dust' at the young Ruby the loose 'Dust' released into the air causes the girl to sneeze releasing a small explosion of fire, ice and lightning and sending the vial rolling along the floor before stopping by a raven-haired female with her amber eyes glued to the book in her hand.
The raven-haired girl wears a black buttoned vest with coattails and a single silver button on the front. Underneath this is a white, sleeveless undershirt and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg. She also wears full stockings with a colour gradation of black to purple at her ankles, and black ribbons are wrapped around both forearms.
As the explosion settles revealing both girls with a thin layer of ash spread across them, the snobbish girl begins another tirade against the still confused and apologising Ruby while dusting the ash from her snow-white gown.
"Hey, I said I was sorry princess" Ruby cuts in trying to stop the girl from yelling at her further.
"It's Heiress, actually" a voice cuts in from beside the girls as the same raven-haired figure strolls forward before handing the white-haired girl back the vial.
"Weiss Schnee, heiress of the Schnee dust company. One of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world." the raven-haired female explains without removing her eyes from the book in her hand.
The snobbish girl now known as Weiss smiles at this remarking that finally some recognition of her status but the raven-haired female's eyes narrow on the heiress before continuing "the same company also made infamous for its controversial labour forces, aggressive dealing tactics and questionable business partners."
At this accusation, Weiss attempts to stutter out a response to the bold claims before angrily storming away followed by two sharply dressed butlers feverishly collecting the scattered cases and following after the heiress with the wheeled dolly in tow.
Noting the evident frustration in the young heiress's tone, Ruby quickly calls out another apology before assuring that she will make this up to the girl; however, Weiss continues to march away without acknowledging the girls call. Ruby breaths a long drawn out sigh before admitting that she does not seem to be the only one having a rough first day.
Quickly shifting her attention in an effort to remove the negative atmosphere, Ruby begins to ask,
"So what's…" but as she faces in the direction the raven-haired girl was before she realises the girl has already sauntered off.
Seeing this Ruby just opts to fall to her knees before lying back staring at the clouds above before stating to herself in a dejected tone "Welcome to Beacon."
Meanwhile inside of the academy Talon strides through the hallways determined to meet the new blood flowing into Beacon and hopefully make a better impression than his previous encounter with the rabbit Faunus had. As he walks, he can't help but notice the noise coming from a particular pair down the hallway, or more accurately, the noise being made by the female while the male remains mostly quiet. As the female seems to ramble on about sloths or something to that effect, Talon takes mental note to remember the two for any future antics they may be involved with. He also quickly picks up that the black-haired male with a pink highlight in his hair and wearing green oriental style garb is known as Ren from the female repeatedly calling the name to him. His partner, on the other hand, a ginger-haired girl, wearing a white blouse and a pink skirt is also revealed to be named Nora or at least that is what the male calls when he tries to calm her down as they continue to walk towards the auditorium.
After noting both down in his head, Talon decides to head towards the docks to catch any stragglers as judging from the time the initiation assembly should be starting soon.
Back with Ruby as she continues to lay on the pathway up to Beacon, her vision is clouded by a shadow as a boy walks alongside calling out to her. Opening her eyes, she finds the same blonde-haired boy in a simple chest plate and hoodie that had vomited after arriving at the academy.
The boy then offers a hand to Ruby before introducing himself as Jaune, to this Ruby offers a thankful smile before accepting the hand up and also introducing herself as Ruby.
"Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?" Ruby chuckles out as the two begin walking along Beacon's courtyard.
"All I'm saying is motion sickness is a much more common problem than people let on." Jaune attempts to defend himself as the two continue to walk seemingly without direction.
"Look, I'm sorry 'Vomit-boy' was the first thing that came to mind." Ruby quickly apologies. Jaune answers back with "Oh yeah, what if I called you Crater-face?"
To this, the young girl sighs out before explaining that the explosion she had caused when she first met Weiss was an accident.
"Well, all that aside, the names Jaune Arc! Short, sweet, rolls of the tongue, Ladies love it!"
After Jaune reintroducing himself Ruby just gave a questioning look before asking "Do they?" quickly bringing the steam out of Jaune, he elaborates that they will, well he hopes they will as his mom always says that… choosing to cut off there before he embarrassed himself the two both fell silent as they come to a halt around one of Beacon many fountains placed around its outside pathways.
Sensing the awkwardness in the air Ruby opted to change the topic to something she could talk about, quickly removing her weapon known as Crescent Rose from her back unfolding and forming its scythe form before stabbing the blade into the pathway below her.
To this, Jaune takes a startled pace back out of range of the weapons bladed head. "So, I got this thing" is all the young girl states.
"Is that a scythe?" is all Jaune can say as he is still trying to process what is going on. Ruby quickly jumps at the question explaining her weapon and its alternate format as the chassis for a customisable, high impact and velocity sniper rifle. However, the answer only deepens the confusion on Jaune's face as in actual fact he only really understood a couple of the words said and still had no idea what was going on.
"It-It's also a gun" Ruby attempts to simplify the details of her weapon of choice. Now actually understanding what the weapon is Jaune comments "Oh, that's cool!"
"Well, what've you got?"
Jaune seems to mull over the question before drawing the sword and the sheath Crocea Mors from his hip.
"Well I, uh got this sword, and this shield too" As he speaks the sheath extends outwards to form a heater shield.
Ruby coos at the weapons in front of her before tapping the side of the shield questioning what they do? Causing Jaune to lose his grip and fumble with the shield as it repeatedly switches from the sheath to shield forms in his arms before he finally regains his footing and grasp of the maverick shield.
"Well… the shield gets smaller…So when I get tired of carrying it… I can just put it away." As the boy explains his weapons abilities, he converts the shield back into its sheath form before storing both it and the blade back on his hip.
"But wouldn't it weigh the same?"
At the question, Jaune seemingly deflates before admitting Ruby had a point.
Upon seeing the boy's mood change to one of disappointment, Ruby quickly attempts to pick his spirits back up "Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons. I guess I did maybe go a little overboard when I was designing it."
Instead of cheering up, Jaune seemed once again confused before clarifying that Ruby meant she had built the weapon know as Crescent Rose herself to which Ruby simply agreed, explaining that all students of Signal academy were tasked with designing and forging their own weapons and asking Jaune if he made his or not.
Jaune instead explained that his weapon was a hand-me-down, a family heirloom that passed down to each generation as his great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the great war between the kingdoms that took place some 80 years prior.
At this revelation Ruby quickly perked up explaining that she liked the weapon, noting that not many people nowadays had an appreciation for the 'Classics' as she called it. However, before the two could continue, they were interrupted by a short cough in front of them, both now realising the large man stood before them with his dark crimson eyes penetrating them with its stare.
"Guessing you two are lost, come on first years are supposed to go to the auditorium. I'll take you; otherwise, you're going to be late." The two found the penetrating stare only leave them when the figure turns around and begins walking away from them, but the two just stand there slack-jawed. To this, the male once again turns before calling back speaking in a more demanding tone.
"Hey, you're going to be late if you don't get a move on, you coming or what?" At this, the two gulped before scrabbling after the figure.
