A Looming Danger

-Later That Night-

Ash was meditating. He went to a place in his mind where he could focus. This place was a bright room. Very peaceful and with no distractions, the aura flowed freely in this space. Mewtwo then appeared in Ash's mind. 'Ash,' Mewtwo said. 'I must tell you something.'

'What is it Mewtwo?' Ash said with his mind.

'I have seen the future. Flashes, appearing sporadically, but growing worse and worse by the day. There is a great threat that will come across the world. It will occur after this tournament. You will need help. You will need help from Pokemon with strength that is beyond even ours.'

Ash immediately began pondering to himself. Years ago, when he was rescued by his Lucario, Ash was told that one day an Aura Guardian would rise up against a powerful foe to help keep the Pokemon World at peace. 'Could this be the Prophecy Lucario was talking about?'

'You must find more Pokemon like us,' a new voice said. It was Darkrai. 'In order to save the world, you must seek aid from other legendary Pokemon.'

'In the future, a new force beyond our comprehension will strike,' Mewtwo said. 'Finish the tournament, but we must go out on a new journey to build an unstoppable team. Alone.'

'I can't. I need to stay with my mom! She died inside when I left the first time. I can't leave her again,' Ash said. 'May and I... We are supposed to get married. I can't just abandon my family and friends, especially right now!.'

'Ash, if you don't set off, you won't have a family,' said Mewtwo. 'In my visions, I see a world on fire… a world in ruin. As if all the life on this planet were to be extinguished.'

'Who is this threat, Mewtwo?' Ash asked.

'I do not know. My visions are cloudy, and fragmented, and I do not have all of the answers,' Mewtwo said. "But what I do know is that this threat will be like nothing we have ever faced before.

'What if-' Ash said. 'What if it wasn't just me. I can go out and find legendaries to help me while the tournament is still going on, and I can get a team of strong trainers together to help us out.'

Mewtwo and Darkrai both turned and glanced at each other. 'It could work,' Mewtwo said, with a hand on its chin. 'Of course, you should test their skill before having them commit to saving the world.'

'Remember Ash,' Darkrai said. 'This threat will be your biggest challenge to overcome. Trust in your friends and your Pokemon and you just might succeed.'

'Mewtwo…' Ash said. 'Do you believe this has something to do with Arceus's Prophecy?'

'I cannot say,' Mewtwo said. 'The future is hazy, but from what I can make out it shall end in war and decimation.'

Ash woke up from his deep slumber next to May, who remained peacefully dozing next to Ash. Turning to look at the hotel clock, he saw it was still the middle of the night. He couldn't tell May this now. He would wait until the morning before telling her anything.
