Karma's POV: Karma woke up to the sound of his phone pinging. He checked it. 128 messages from Nagisa

Karma whistled. Wow. He had been so occupied texting with Asano, he had forgot to text Nagisa!

He gave a heavy sigh and flung himself back in bed. Yesterday was the best and the worst day of his life. Karma used to not understand how people could say it was both but now he understood.

He looked at some of Nagisa's text messages:

Nagisa: U ok? You didn't look too good after class. Do u want me to walk with u home?

Nagisa: You're ok, right? you know you don't have to put up a brave front in front of me, right?

Nagisa: I'll be here if you want to talk

Nagisa: Are you mad at me?

Nagisa: Plz at least tell me if you are ok or not

Nagisa: Karma?

wow. The one day he forgot to pick up his phone, heck happened. He hastily typed back a response.

Karma: Sry I couldn't answer your texts, was busy. I'm not mad at you and I am ok.

He got an almost instant reply.

Nagisa: No prob! Glad to here you are ok

Nagisa: were your parents mad at you?

Karma:...

Karma made a pained noise. His stomach still ached from last night.

He wished he could forget that it had happened.

He kept on thinking about his mom's gleeful eyes and the way she looked at him. Like trash. He swallowed.

Karma: They weren't too mad, though they took my phone away for a while?

Nagisa: Sucks but good they weren't too mad at you! yeah, not too mad

Karma started texting Asano.

Karma: Please have a soul and don't tell anyone about yesterday.

Asano: I'm not that harsh Akabane

Karma: ...

Asano: I won't. I promise

Karma couldn't imagine what would happen if Nagisa figured out what his parents did to him, what everyone would do if they figured out. He could almost hear the whispers.

poor kid

he must be violent just because all he wanted was love

Trashy kid with a trashy family

Pity. He'd probably even be sent to a foster home, given his mother didn't kill him first. Karma closed his eyes. But it wouldn't be bad to die...

He started devising a plan in his head.

Karma's POV: As Karma trudged up the mountain to his class, he kept on thinking of Asano, and texting Asano, and seeing Asano, and-

Karma sighed loudly, mostly to escape his loud thoughts.

He decided two things: 1. He'd try to 'bump into' Asano in the hallway. 2. sighing hurt almost as much as laughing did when you have bruised ribs.

Then he heard a voice that almost made him jump up and tumble down the mountain. "What'cha thinking about?" Karma turned around. It was Nagisa, holding up his phone.

"I texted you that I was going to walk with you! Why didn't you wait for me?"

Karma scratched his head, feeling a little guilty and smiled at Nagisa.

"Just trying to read the first 120 messages."

Nagisa flushed, embarrassed. "I was worried about you!"

Karma laughed, "it's fine, Nagisa. Sorry for not being able to answer."

"Does this mean your parents returned from Europe?"

Karma stiffened and surveyed the world beneath them, below the mountain. The tiny houses and cars that looked like little toy figures. Somewhere there, someone was hurting as much as he was, somewhere karma was being served.

"Karma?"

"I guess so," Karma said, his gaze turned away.

They walked up the mountain in silence, Nagisa nervously fiddling with his backpack straps. Someday you will find your place in this world. Or you will have to make one.

"I think I'll be able to kill Koro-sensei today," Karma said absentmindedly.

"Oh yeah?" Karma nodded. "Yeah."

They entered the school building.
