"Everyone, we have amazing news!" Esme exclaimed.
The 12 other heirs and I were sitting in the meeting room. Today I'm wearing a short-sleeve slate blue dress; the bodice was one color, but the skirt had pink rose print all over it. There was also a white buckle belt around the waist. I paired it with matching heels.
"The royal families of Monaco and Sweden are coming! The Monocans will arrive late in the night on friday, and the Swedish will arrive around 4 on Saturday. You will be paired into groups and will work together to plan the perfect party. The time, theme, colors, musicians, everything. The only requirement is that it will take place in the ballroom. This is another duty of an heir. It's not all politics and learning how to rule. This will also be your chance to practice your royal skills. The skills you've learnt. We will all be watching you very closely."
She began announcing groups. I was paired with Lexi. Long, light golden hair and red eyes.
"You have three days to prepare your ideas. You will also not have lessons, either. They will be here in a week. I look forward to seeing your ideas. Dismissed."
I was very excited. I get to meet another royal family!
Lexi and I went straight to my room, where we sat down and began planning the ideas. We decided upon Sunday evening at 7 so the Dannish could rest and get settled in. The theme would be simple yet elegant, and the colors were a red and white theme with hints of gold. The dress code would be black tie. We chose the "classic eyes'' for the musicians.
Most people choose Italy's or their home country's colors, and choose Saturday evening. We were picked because of our smart and thoughtful thinking.
Laying on my bed was a large rectangular box. I went over to it and saw a note.
Nessie,
I designed this by hand, and I know you'll look gorgeous in it! Even if I can't see your future, which is scary. I hope you'll wear it tonight!

Inside was a gorgeous red dress. It was a ruby red off-the-shoulder floor-length dress. The skirt's layers were different shades of red. The bust and sleeves had ruffles, and around the waist was a darker red thin ribbon belt with a bow. I pulled my hair back with a red ribbon before slipping on the heels. They were ruby red, three inches tall, with ankle straps and red ribbon bows on the heel.
I smiled and made my downstairs. The other contestants were there. Once they saw my dress, the girls looked at me in jealousy.
The doors opened, and we were introduced one by one. Once everyone was through, Dad went back to trying to get the two monarchs to get the three of them to trade. His attempts were futile. Eventually he decided to find someone to dance with.
Once he was dancing with a young lady, I made my way over to the royal families.
"Hello, your highnesses," I said, curtsying. "My name is Renesmee Swan."
"One of the heirs?" Queen Tatianna of Sweden asked.
"Yes."
"How has that been going?" Queen Jamelynn of Monaco asked.
"As good as it can be. The King favors me."
"I can see why," King Fergus of Sweden said, chuckling.
I smiled. "Now, I hate to do this, but let's talk politics."
"Women and politics don't work, Milady." King Albert of Monaco asked.
"I'm running to become king Edward's heir. The next monarch. So excuse me if I'd like to talk politics."
I like her, King Fergus thought.
I smiled. "Now…...what's the big deal with trading?"
"Sweden is refusing to import anything to us! I wouldn't mind trading with Volterra, however." Queen Jamelynn said, crossing her arms.
"But Sweden needs your metal works to make their vehicles." I said. "And you need their clay for your ceramics. Surely there must be a way to work past this. Why don't we try it out for some time? Maybe a month two? That way we can see how well this works out. And so that your economies can boom."
"Not a bad idea." King Fergus said, turning to King Albert and Queen Jamelynn. "I'm up for it as long as you are."
"As long as Renesmee works with us." Queen Jamelynn said. "She's an absolute sweetheart and an intelligent girl."
"I do not want to be working with a girl!" King Albert growled.
"You'll be working with the King as well."
"Fine. It's a deal."
I smiled and walked away. I watched the four of them make their way over to my dad.
"Your majesty, we have agreed to work together." King Fergus said.
"Really? As thrilled as I am, what made you change your mind?"
"A good, acceptable idea from one of your contestants." He said.
He chuckled. "Renesmee?"
"She's quite an irresistible little thing, to be honest. She's also clever, intelligent and thoughtful. She came up with the idea that we work together for a few months before seeing if we want to continue." Queen Tatianna said.
Why didn't I think of that? Dad thought.
"Well, Renesmee has always stood out."
"But we will only work with you and Renesmee is part of it. Whether you choose her as your heiress, or not." Queen Jamelynn said firmly.
"Of course."
"Last night I decided upon the elite." Dad announced. The royals had gone home a few days ago. "If I say your name, you are part of the elite. If not, you are being sent home."
"Sir Oliver, Sir John, Sir Elijah, Sir Luke, Sir Maddox, Sir Carson, Lady Alexis, Lady Regina, Lady Kriss, and Lady Renesmee.
"I apologize for how I chose to do this, but it didn't feel right keeping others when I had discovered who I wanted to train. In time I hope you see that this was done in kindness. Any of the eliminated people who wish to speak to me can come to the main library and I will be available to you."
He threw me a smile and left the room. About five people ran after him.
