Chapter 9
The Mission's Speed Bump
When they got to their house, they saw Ranger, waiting for them.
"Hey there how is everything going?" Ranger asked them.
"I will be in the bedroom resting Tank," Stephanie told him. She stood on her tippy toes and kissed him gently on the cheek.
After Stephanie left, Tank opened the trunk and took out about five gallons of paint.
Ranger took a couple of the gallons of paint.
"For the baby's room." Tank told him.
They brought the paint in the house.
"I want this mission over with Ranger." Tank told him.
"I know, we all do." Ranger replied
"What are we going to do about Morelli, he set us back about a month's worth of work." Tank told him.
"He does not fit in with this crowd. He does not know how to act with them." Tank told Ranger.
"Then I need to show him." Ranger told him.
"I will work with him to help him adjust to this crowd." Ranger said out loud.
"Have fun painting" Ranger walked out of the house.
When Ranger got at Rangeman, he saw Morelli.
"I am sorry, I screwed up last night. I am not use to this type of under cover case." Morelli told Ranger.
"I am not surprised, so come in and I will give you a pep course." Ranger told Morelli.
Ranger used his key card and the both of them went in.
Morelli followed Ranger into a conference room.
"Okay first thing to know is that Tiffany Robbins is a trophy wife, she does not understand the word Family."
"For some reason, she likes Stephanie, which is weird because in Stephanie's background we have her coming from a big family."
"Her husband is from old money; Todd inherited his money from his daddy. Which makes Tank's cover perfect, because he did inherit his dad's business which was actually a modest airline company."
"So Tank is rich," Morelli said out loud.
"No, his money is in a trust fund that his dad set up for him. The condition for him to get access to that trust fund is for him to leave Rangeman, and manage the Airline Company. He loves working here, so he does not want to leave. He does has one brother and a sister, both cops. We have permission from Tank's father's lawyer to use the airline company in this mission.
"Long story short, Todd Robbins found out about Tank's Airline Company and, might make an offer for a contract to use his airline company to transfer something to foreign countries. Tank and Stephanie are trying to get the contract, they get the contract the FBI nail him.
"Okay, I am a little out of my league here." Morelli told him.
"We are going to help you, I talked to your captain earlier today, we updated your cover. You are Tank's right-hand man. Meaning you work for Tank. You hang with Tank not Stephanie.
"Okay, I can do that." Morelli told him
"Good I am giving you Tank's home address, you are to go there right now, to get to know your boss inside and out starting now." Ranger told him, I will call Tank and let him know you are on his way.
Ranger called Tank, "yeah" Morelli is coming over to get to know you better."
"Got it" Tank told him and hung up.
A Few minutes later the buzzer rang
"Who is it?" Tank asked.
"Your right-hand man" Morelli told him.
The gate opened and Morelli went in. He parked in front of the house.
Tank opened the door, "Come on in" Tank told him.
"I will show you around." Tank told him.
"Nice kitchen." Morelli told him.
"Thanks, this house belonged to my parents, after they pasted away. I inherited the house. I have been trying to make it my own for the past few years." Tank told him.
"Why not sell it?" Morelli asked him.
"To many good memories in this house. Come on I will show you the living room." Tank told him.
Morelli walked up to a fire place and saw some pictures of a uniform cop and what looked like a really good looking female.
"My older brother Rodney a uniform in the 14th and my younger and only sister Shana an undercover cop in the 14th.
"My father was not happy with their career choices, as for me my father gave me an option, I could do work in the security or work for his airline company. After I got out of the special forces and work under Ranger for 20 years then I will be eligible for the family business. After I met Ranger we hit it off, and we decided to start Rangeman. My father was very proud that I helped start Rangeman. So Rangeman now works with my family's airplane company through my father's lawyer not me. Robbins does not know about the contract with Rangeman, or the real Rangeman.
Morelli opened the door to the little bathroom, "A little small"
Tank chuckled "Come on follow me."
The two of them walked up stairs, and saw Stephanie standing in the door way to the master suite.
"What is he doing here?" Stephanie asked in shock.
"He is getting to know me a little better." Tank said to her. You don't have to say any more." Stephanie told them.
Tank opened a door, "This is the bathroom I use."
"Wow, it huge." Morelli said in shock.
"I am huge, that is why they call me Tank"
"Yup, I agree with that nick name." Morelli.
