It was time for Chris and Penny to go to school. The siblings looked down at Cream and Cheese to give them instructions.
"Remember Cream, you too, Cheese. Stay inside while we're gone, ok?" Chris asked the two Mobian kids with a smile. "Ok!" Cream smiled. "Chao!" Cheese agreed.
Chris and Penny waved goodbye, and walked out the door. Cream, however, was not pleased. "I don't wanna stay inside, I wanna go outside and play!" She whimpered, opening the door to the balcony. She looked down the fence at the flowers. She and Cheese suddenly brightened.
later..
In Chuck's workhouse, Amy was smiling at Sonic, who was taking a nap. Silver and Blaze were studying the Chaos Emerald in the experiment safe, Cloud was reading a book, and Tails was standing by the window. Suddenly, he heard laughing outside. Tails looked out.
"That sounds like Cream and Cheese outside!" Amy said. She walked toward the window. Blaze followed. They soon joined Tails and looked down.
They were right... Cream and Cheese were out there, gathering flowers.
"What's she doing? Cream and Cheese knows they're supposed to stay inside while Chris and Penny are at school!" Blaze said, crossing her arms.
"I wonder what she's doing out there, guys!"
Amy gasped. "I bet Cream's out there picking up some flowers!"
Sonic opened his eyes.
"She knows we're supposed to stay inside while Chris and Penny are at school!" Tails frowned.
"That's what I said!" Blaze flicked her tail in annoyance, that Tails had repeated what she just said.
"What's so important about her and picking flowers?" Tails wondered. He remembered something.
Cream was outside gathering flowers. Tails walked over, confused. "Hey Cream, what are you doing?"
Cream looked at him, a smile beaming on her face. "I'm gonna pick these flowers for Mom and surprise her with a crown of flowers!"
Tails looked like he felt bad for Cream. "I bet she misses her mom."
"Of course she does." Amy looked down sadly at Cream, who was happily gathering flowers. "I just wish... we could cheer her up."
"I agree," Blaze said sadly.
Sonic looked at them, and looked at a poster on the wall. The poster shown a lake with flowers surrounding it. The hedgehog smirked. If he could find these flowers, pick up a bouquet of them for her, he could make her feel better right away!
Sonic snatched the poster, and dashed out the door, causing the rest of the mobians to look up.
"Sonic?" Amy asked.
...
Chris and Penny nervously looked at the burnt food in front of them. It was great to have Mom back, but her cooking... well, let's just say that Penny prefers Ella's cooking more than her mom's.
"Here you go, dears. Here are your buttermilk pancakes. Enjoy!" Mom smiled as she put the plate in front of them.
"Thanks, Mom!" Chris and Penny smiled nervously. Penny took one of the burnt pancakes in her hands, and it crumbled. Penny whimpered, clutching her stomach in hunger.
"Oh, my. I smell something burning!" Ella exclaimed as she hurried into the kitchen. She sweat dropped when she saw the burnt food, and a very hungry Penny and Chris.
"Oh, Ella, it's wonderful to be back in the kitchen! On the movie set, the staff members won't let me cook a thing!"
"I believe I can understand why now." Penny thought, trying to ignore her hungry stomach.
"I have an idea!" Mom suddenly brightened. "Let's have a PARTY!"
"A party?!" Penny asked in surprise.
"Yes! A dinner party! We can dress up! I'm sure Ella could fix up something scrumptious."
"A party sounds like a great idea! Do you think we can invite Uncle Sam over since he's our favorite uncle?" Chris asked with excitement in his voice.
"Of course, darlings, anything you want! Anything for my darling children!"
"If we're having a party tonight, this calls for some heavy duty cleaning! Time to clean some clutter!" Ella laughed gleefully, pulling up her sleeves as she ran.
For what Chris and Penny didn't know, Cream and Cheese were outside, watching the whole thing with excitement.
"A party? I love parties!" Cream smiled happily. Cheese smiled. "Chao-chao!" She cried happily.
At school the next day, Chris and Penny eagerly told their friends the upcoming events that was happening tonight.
"A party?" Danny asked excitedly.
"Yeah! Mom wants us to have fun while she is here." Chris smiled.
Penny leaned in. "You won't believe this, but our uncle's coming to the party, too!"
Francis gasped excitedly. "The racer?" She asked, leaning forward to Penny with excitement in her eyes. "Yeah, he's the coolest!" Penny smiled. "And he's leader of the S team!"
What Chris and Penny didn't know was that Mr. Stewart was watching out in the hall, a plan going on in his mind.
...
Back at home, Cream was trying to complete her flower crown.
"This crown doesn't have enough flowers!" She sighed. She dropped the flowers on Penny's bed and dashed out. "I've gotta go and pick more!"
Cheese followed her.
The little bunny and her chao friend ran down the stairs until they came to the living room, where they saw Mom decorating the room up for the party.
Cream and Cheese looked longingly into the room.
"I wonder if I could help decorate for the party?" She whispered to herself.
"Chao." Cheese agreed softly.
...
Back at school, Chris and Penny talked to one of their classmates as they gathered their belongings. Chris suddenly looked up to see his friends calling, and waved good-bye, leaving him and Penny quietly packing up. Suddenly, they heard a familiar voice behind them.
"Hey, Chris, Penny."
"Hu?"
Penny turned around to see Mr. Stewart behind them.
"I haven't been teaching here long, but I just wanted to say thanks."
They turned to him.
"I'm really lucky to have such intelligent students in my class."
"Uh..." Chris and Penny started.
"You kids are terrific and I want to get to know you all better. So, I'm going to visit you and your family later today."
"HUH?!" Chris and Penny panicked.
"I can't wait to meet your mom and get her autograph!" Mr. Stewart chuckled as he walked away.
Chris and Penny stared at each other. What just happened?!
...
Meanwhile, Sonic had found the exact place on the map he took from Grandpa's workshop earlier. He tucked in the map and held it under his arm.
He zipped towards the flowers.
...
"We're home!" Chris and Penny cried happily.
"How was school today, Master Christopher and Mistress Penelope?" Mr. Tanaka asked.
"Great, Mr. Tanaka!" Penny grinned.
"Chris, Penny, darlings!" Mom smiled happily as she grasped her children in a hug.
"I hope it's ok." Penny grunted in her mom's tight squeeze. "But Mr. Stewart will be dropping by for a visit! It looks like he is a pretty huge fan of your movies, mom!"
"That reminds me, what am I gonna wear?" Mom put her hands over to her face. "I should've have the studios hand over a gown!"
They heard Grandpa complaining about his outfit. "How do they stand these things?!" He asked, trying to straighten his tie.
"Grandpa, why are you wearing that?" Chris questioned to Chuck's neat pants, suit coat, button-down shirt, and tie.
"Mr. Tanaka said I couldn't wear my lab coat to the party. I couldn't see why not."
Chris and Penny leaned in closer to Chuck. "When you see Sonic and the others, can you tell them to please stay out of site until Mr. Stewart and the others go away?" Chris muttered.
"I know that Cloud, Amy, Tails, Blaze, and Silver are upstairs in my room, but I haven't seen or heard Sonic, Cream, and Cheese all day!" Chuck remarked.
That was worrying.
Suddenly, the trio heard a familiar squeak and a soft voice of a young girl in the family room, hanging up a decoration. When they turned around, they were shocked to see Cream and Cheese there.
"It's Cream and Cheese!" Chris and Penny said at the same time.
"Is something wrong?" Mom asked as she walked over.
Penny, Chris, and Chuck hastily yelled and waved their arms in the air, blocking her from seeing anything. Mom looked confused.
"NOTHING TO SEE HERE!" They all exclaimed to her.
"What's the matter with you two?" Mom asked.
"Everything's ok, here, Mom, why don't you go and get ready? Me, Chris, and Grandpa will get everything ready! Right, Chris, Grandpa?" Penny asked them nervously, pushing her mom towards her room.
"But there's plenty of time!" Mom said.
"Yeah, but you know how time flies when you put on your make up!" Penny argued.
"Right Grandpa?" Chris asked.
"Yeah, and all the food that has to be prepared!" Grandpa chuckled nervously.
"Oh. Well, I'll go and see if Ella needs help in the kitchen." Mom looked at us in confusion, but walked away. Penny ran into the family room and ran up to Cream.
"What are you doing Cream?" The girl asked her. Penny turned just in time to see Ella come in with a pile of laundry in her hands. She yelped and grabbed Cream and Cheese, diving behind the couch just in time.
"Mrs. Thorndyke decorates like a little kid!" Ella laughed heartily, walking out of the room like nothing weird was going on.
"Cream, I asked you to stay upstairs where no one can see you!" Penny said, scolding the young rabbit.
"That room is boring! I only wanted to help decorate for the party." Cream's ears drooped, and suddenly Penny felt bad for her.
"Mistress Penny understands."
Penny yelped, startled at Mr. Tanaka's timing.
"It is very thoughtful for you to help us get ready for the party, Cream." Mr. Tanaka said.
"Mr. Tanaka!" Penny looked up at him in surprise. "You know about these guys?"
"Of course!" Mr. Tanaka smiled.
"You knew all along!" Penny smiled. "Could you help me, Chris, and Grandpa keep the others a secret right now?" I asked suddenly.
"Uh-hu." Mr. Tanaka smiled.
"Thanks." Penny said, relieved.
"PENNY! THEY'RE GONE!" Chris cried. Penny looked at him in surprise, then noticed it as well.
"THEY'RE GONE!" Penny repeated.
...
Sonic was speeding towards the place he saw on the map. He was almost there.
He grinned as he sped closer to the scenery.
...
At home, Chris and Penny went separate ways to find Cream and Cheese. The girl looked into her bedroom, hoping to find them.
"Cream! Cheese!" She called. They weren't there.
"Where can they be?" Penny wondered, worry starting to take over.
...
"Ella! Hey, Ella!" Mrs. Thorndyke called to Ella, who was in the kitchen preparing food for the party.
"What?" Ella called. She pressed the button on the mixer, stopping it from moving.
"I can't find my green Versace. You didn't send it to the cleaners, did you?"
"No, it should be there!" Ella called.
"It's not here!" Mrs. Thorndyke protested.
"I'll be there!" Ella sighed, turning off the blenders and going upstairs to help her mistress. A moment later, Cream and Cheese entered. Cream's eyes widened with delight when she saw the food. "Look at all this food!" Cream smiled happily at the varieties of food in front of them. "We can help too, Cheese!"
The little bunny pressed one of the mixers in the bowl with pink frosting, and Cheese pressed a mixer in a bowl with green frosting. They must've pressed the button to maximum, and not know how to use a mixer, for everything that was near the mixer started to go crazy. Droplets of pink and green frosting flew everywhere. Scared out of their wits, Cream and Cheese ran of, shrieking.
Hearing the noise, Ella dashed in, and screamed when she saw the mess.
Across the room, Penny heard Ella scream. Thinking she caught Cream and Cheese, the girl darted over. "CREAM! CHEESE!" Penny cried. Chris reached her first.
"Ella, what happened?" He asked as Penny hastily grabbed the crazy-going mixers, and stopped them from doing more damage.
"My dinner is a disaster!" She muttered sadly.
"Cream, Cheese, where are you?!" Penny panicked inside her head.
...
Meanwhile, Sonic had dashed over a bridge that lingered over a deep drop. He smirked as he looked at how far away the two cliffs were from each other, and noticed how the bridge in front of him was half broken.
"This looks cool!" He smiled. He looked up and dashed through the broken bridge, actually breaking it.
...
In her room, Mrs. Thorndyke finished getting her gown and jewelry together. "That should do. At least for my entrance."
The phone on her desk rang.
She picked it up.
"Hello?" She asked. She paused, and her face brightened up.
"The starring role?!" She gasped happily. "I'll catch the next plane!"
She realized something. "Oh, actually I'm having a little party for my children tonight. I'm afraid I'll have to leave first thing tomorrow... Oh. I see. We have to shoot on location first thing tomorrow?"
Watching with curiosity, Cream and Cheese watched everything.
"I know. You can't put hold a $100-million production on hold for a party." She said sadly. "I'll leave immediately. Good bye." She hung up the phone. She turned off her light. "Why does it always have to be like this?" She muttered sadly. "I don't even have time to spend with my little boy and girl! I may be a great actress, but I am a terrible mother." She shook with sadness. "Please forgive me, Christopher and Penelope!" She choked down on sobs.
Cream and Cheese watched this, unsure what to say or do.
...
Sonic looked at the scene before him, and looked at the map. Yup. It matched the location! He jumped in happiness. He then remembered something that Penny told him when they were talking:
"Cream and I have something in common. We love flowers!" Her voice echoed in his head. "I should pick some up for Penny, too!" He thought happily. He dashed over to the scene with glee. He picked up a flower and sniffed it.
...
Meanwhile, Chris and Penny were looking everywhere for Cream and Cheese. "Hey Cream! Cheese!" The two whisper-yelled.
Penny realized something. "Maybe they went out to hide with Grandpa!" She cried happily, and Chris nodded in agreement.
The two ran outside towards Chuck's house.
"Chris? Penny?" Ella called out for her charges. But when she couldn't find them, her face held sadness. "The poor kids! Oh dear!" She muttered, and hurried over to her mistress, who was waiting by the car.
"Miss, I looked for Chris and Penny, but I couldn't find them anywhere!" Ella told Mrs. Thorndyke sadly.
"Ella, please tell Chris and Penny how sorry I am." Mrs. Thorndyke whispered. "Give my apologies to Mr. Stewart as well." she added. She turned to Mr. Tanaka. "Please call me if Chris and Penny need anything."
"Of course," Mr. Tanaka bowed, and Mrs. Thorndyke got in the car, and they drove off.
Mr. Tanaka and Ella just stood there, not sure what to say or do.
...
Chris and Penny dashed upstairs, gleefully running towards Grandpa's room, hoping for Cream and Cheese to be there waiting for them.
"Cream! Cheese!" Chris cried, opening the door.
They weren't there. The ones who were there were Silver, Blaze, Tails, Amy, and Cloud, who were looking at us. Chuck turned around and looked up.
"What?! They're not there?" Penny asked.
"Weren't they with you?" Chuck asked. Penny began to panic. "They're wandering around and Mr. Stewart's gonna be here any minute! What are we gonna do if he sees them?!" Penny cried.
Cloud walked up to Penny and put both hands on the girl's shoulders. "Stay calm," He told her. Penny nodded and took a few breaths.
"Cloud's right. Nothing will work if we're panicking." Silver said.
"Let's split up. And each one of us will search a different part of the house. Until we find them." Grandpa said.
"YEAH!" Amy, Blaze, Silver, and Tails cheered.
"Let's get looking." Cloud said.
...
Meanwhile, Mrs. Thorndyke sat in the back seat, feeling guilty about missing her time with her children. However, as they drove, they passed a green car that belonged to none-other than Mr. Stewart. Behind him in the back seat were a bundle of red roses. He smirked as he pulled out a tracking device.
He was going to find out if there were strange creatures living at Chris and Penny's house once and for all!
When he finally arrived at our house, he grabbed the bundle of flowers and rang the doorbell. Mr. Tanaka answered the door.
"I'm Chris and Penny's homeroom teacher, Mr. Stewart!" He smiled in greeting.
"Welcome, sir." Smiled Mr. Tanaka. Chris and Penny appeared in the doorway. "Hi! Come in!" Penny smiled.
"Hello, Penny, Chris." Mr. Stewart greeted kindly.
Soon, they were all gathered in the family room. "Sit down!" Ella gladly mentioned to the couch for Mr. Stewart sit down on. He paused and looked up at the decoration hanging from a ceiling lamp. Penny gulped nervously, remembering that that was Cream's decorating ideas.
"Do you like it?" Ella asked. "Mrs. Thorndyke isn't only a great actress, but a great artist too!" She laughed heartily.
Chris and Penny blushed and sat down on the couch together.
"It's great. I can't wait to meet Chris and Penny's mother and give her my compliments."
"I'm very sorry, Mr. Stewart, but just before she arrived, she was offered a very important movie part and she had to leave immediately!"
Chris and Penny yelped in shock. "NO WAY!" Chris cried.
"That's too bad. I was hoping to meet her in person." He looked at the roses and offered them to Ella. "I guess I'll offer these to you."
"For me?!" Ella gasped happily, receiving the lovely roses.
"I-I thought..." Penny gulped, trying to keep the tears in. Mr. Stewart sat down next to her, and put a comforting hand on her back.
That's when something crashed outside.
"What was that?" Penny asked suddenly, turning around with Chris and Ella, who also looked toward the crash. Mr. Stewart walked over to a painting, and grabbed the device from his pocket. He was going to slip it behind the painting, and the government would hear everything about Sonic and the others living at the Thorndyke house.
Ella looked out the window to see Chuck groaning in pain, lying on the ground outside with broken flowerpots, soil, and flower petals all over him.
Noticing Ella was there, he gave a start. "Sorry, Ella, I was just leaning out the window, and I fell and knocked the plants down." Chuck scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
"I don't know what you think you're up to, but you better be on your best behavior, because Chris and Penny's teacher is here." Ella informed Chuck.
"Oh!" Chuck gasped. He began to climb through the window. "I'd better go in and say hi,"
"Oh, sir, why don't you just use the front door like everybody else?!" Ella scolded.
"One way in is as good as another way in." Chuck pointed out.
Penny noticed something under the curtain, and poked Chris. When Chris faced her, the girl slowly moved her finger over to familiar pair of shoes, the colors of red, yellow, and white.
"AHH!" Chris and Penny screamed. What were they doing?! Cream and Cheese were going to get themselves caught for sure!
Ella and Chuck turned around, and Chris and Penny sweat-dropped. "What's the matter, kids? Why did you scream?" Ella asked us worriedly.
"Uh-uh... it's nothing!" Chris smiled, turning around back to sitting forward on the couch.
"My, this certainly is an extraordinary painting!" M. Stewart said. Again.
Hidden behind the curtain, and looking down worriedly at Cheese, Cream wondered what she should do. That's when Sonic hopped to the nearest tree branch, holding two bundle of flowers in his hand He cleverly looked at Cream, pointed to where he wanted to give one of the bundles to her, and hopped off.
"Thanks Sonic!" A soft voice gasped from behind the curtain. Penny sweat-dropped once again. "That's right... Sonic picked a whole bunch of pretty flowers just for me and Penny!"
Penny gave a start. "W-what?!" Startled, the girl covered her mouth, also to hide the fact that she was blushing. Sonic picked flowers for her too? That was sweet!
Ella slowly walked over and picked the little bunny and her chao friend up. "Wha... Is this little animal talking?!" She gasped. Chuck laughed nervously. "Talking animals! What a joke!"
Mr. Tanaka, who also entered the scene, nodded his head. "Yes. Some joke!"
Penny walked nervously to Ella. "Thank you for finding my stuffed animal, Ella! Can I have it back?" She asked nervously. Penny quickly grabbed Cream and Cheese in her arms.
"Look. I heard that thing talking and nothing is going to convince me otherwise! If this was some kind of a joke you're playing, then you better quit before I do!" Ella stood her ground, while Penny looked down at Cream and whispered at the same time, "Try to pretend you're a toy!" Penny whispered, hoping that that would get through easily to the little girl.
"Hey-hey!" A cheerful voice suddenly announced as the person made his way into the room. The person was none other than Uncle Sam!
"Ha, ha, where's the party?" Uncle Sam asked.
"Uncle Sam, this is our teacher, Mr. Stewart!" Penny said awkwardly, holding on to Cream. The girl could feel Ella's suspicious stare at her back, gluing her to her spot.
"A pleasure." Uncle Sam shook hands with Mr. Stewart.
"I understand that you're involved with the highway patrol somehow." Mr. Stewart smiled.
"Well, I don't like to brag, but I'm the leader of the S team." Uncle Sam smiled.
"That statement is only half correct." Chuck frowned, crossing his arms.
"Really?" Mr. Stewart asked, confused.
"Our uncle drives fast!" Chris proudly exclaimed. "No other driver is quick enough to catch him! That's why he's called the Speed King!"
"You came up with the name yourself, didn't you?" Penny asked Uncle Sam.
"Sure." Uncle Sam smirked in a bragging tone. "A little self promotion will never hurt anybody." He burst out laughing, then leaned forward. "Let's get this party moving, it's too slow."
"And your mouth is too fast." Ella complained.
"Ha, I can't help it if I like speed. I've always been fast! I even beat the doctor to the delivery room. I was the only kid in town who had a five-speed transmission in my baby carriage!" Uncle Sam laughed.
"Uh..." Mr. Stewart and Penny began, but Sam was on a role. Once he started talking about speed, he NEVER stops.
"I admit, I like living in the fast lane." Uncle Sam continued. "Even in the supermarket, no matter how many items I have, I use the express checkout. I can't even walk my dog, I make him run!" He laughed.
Penny winced, and with her free hand, (for Penny was still holding Cream and Cheese with her other arm,) buried her face in it, and shuddered. "Poor dog!" The girl whimpered.
Then he said the thing that got her attention.
"There's only one guy who's faster."
"He's talking about Sonic," Penny panicked.
"I never saw anything that moved fast! But don't you worry, I'll catch up with him someday!"
"Really? What did he look like?!" Mr. Stewart asked, looking startled.
"It's weird, but it sorta looked like a blue hedgehog!"
Penny's mouth dropped open. "Sonic, you were seen?! You never told me that!" Penny panicked.
"He even had a spike... hu?" Penny noticed him pause and look out the window. When everyone was focused on our uncle, Penny took a quick look at Sonic, who was waving at Uncle Sam. He took a quick look at Penny, and winked, putting his finger to his mouth. The girl giggled softly, knowing he was teasing Uncle Sam.
"Hey, there he is!" Uncle Sam cried, pointing to Sonic. Penny quickly looked back, and so did the others. Out of the corner of my eye, Penny saw Sonic leap up from the tree, and sped off to a different spot.
"It was the blue hedgehog I was talking about! He was even looking at Penny and winking at her, like he LIKED HER!" Uncle Sam cried.
Penny gulped nervously. "It's not like that, Uncle Sam! We don't have a serious relationship! He likes me as a friend! Or maybe... something else." She looked down, blushing lightly.
"Sorry, I was just admiring this painting." Mr. Stewart smiled.
"I didn't see anything, did you?" Chuck asked Mr. Tanaka.
"Perhaps your eyes were playing tricks on you, sir!" Mr. Tanaka said.
"But I'm telling you, I saw it!" Uncle Sam walked over to me, studying the girl's expressions. "You're blushing, Pen," He said, using Penny's nickname. "You saw him too, didn't you?! More than that, he likes YOU! And you like HIM!"
"Who likes me?" Penny asked, pretending to be dumb for Sonic's sake.
Poor Uncle Sam rubbed his eyes. "I SAW IT!" He proclaimed. "My eyes don't lie! That thing waved at me. Then he looked at Penny, smirked and winked at her, and ran off! I even saw her smile and blush! Then he ran off!"
"You know, they thought I was crazy too, when I heard that animal talking," Ella walked over to Uncle Sam.
"Animal talking?" Uncle Sam asked. "Well, I didn't hear it say anything. But I'm sure it understood what I said! We both saw the same creature." He smirked. "It proves that Penny's in love with that critter, and I'm not crazy!"
Penny had to look down and clamp her mouth tighter from saying anything.
"The animal I heard is over there." Ella pointed over to Cream and Cheese, who were still and light in her arms. Penny gulped silently.
"You know, I'm sorry Mom can't make it to the party." Chris said. "But she got a phone call and had to leave for an important movie. I was pretty mad. Mr. Stewart was looking forward to meet her! But she went away before he even got here. That was pretty rude, hu?"
"Mom never has any time for us. Just always rushing for the next scene in a movie." Penny frowned, looking downward.
"That sounds like my sister, all right." Sam smiled.
That's when Cream and Cheese snapped.
The memory of Mrs. Thorndyke crying in her hands and asking her children to forgive her appeared in young Cream's mind. Flustered, Cream pushed herself out of Penny's arms.
"YOU'RE WRONG!" Cream cried, forgetting all about acting like a doll and staying low. "Your mom felt bad that she had to leave, and she tried to find you to say goodbye!" Cheese chao-d at them angrily.
Ella's mouth was open. So was Uncle Sam's.
Cream continued, not caring if she was spotted. "You two are lucky to talk to your mom on the phone! I never get to do that now!" Cream pushed Penny away and ran off, crying.
None of the party folks said anything for a while.
Mr. Tanaka turned toward us with a practiced expression. "I hope you enjoyed that." Mr. Tanaka smiled, though he was sweat dropping a little. "I've been rehearsing my ventriloquism act for a week now, and if I do say so myself, I'm not bad."
"Oh, yes, this painting is stunning." Mr. Stewart said, looking back at the painting.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Tails, Cream, Blaze, Silver, and Cloud darted through the family, calling Cream's name.
"CREAM! WAIT!" Amy cried.
"Please come back!" Blaze cried, reaching out to the little bunny, and the Mobians ran out the other door. Poor Ella whimpered. "I'm seeing more of them now!" She put her arm to her head as if she was feeling like she was going crazy and was about to faint.
"Hey, Ella, would you care to dance?" Chuck gulped nervously. He took her in his arms and spun her wildly around. Ella yelped in shock.
"Well, Uncle Sam, I hope you can come visit us again." Penny smiled, walking up to Sam. He smiled and turned to his niece and nephew.
"Yeah, but you know me, kids! It will have to be a quick visit!"
The trio burst out laughing.
"I've heard and seen quite enough." Mr. Stewart muttered to himself. He didn't have the heart to put the device behind the painting. He tucked the device back into his pocket.
Sam, Chris, and Penny were watching poor Ella get spun around by Grandpa Chuck when Mr. Stewart walked over to them. "Chris, Penny, I have to get going. I have homework to grade," He said. "Please give my regards to your mother and tell her I hope to meet her soon." Mr. Stewart looked glum as he walked off.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Stewart." Penny apologized to their teacher.
Soon, the Thorndyke residence stood outside and watched everyone leave. Uncle Sam looked over to them and laughed. "Later, guys. See you in my rear-view mirror!"
He took off.
Exhausted, Grandpa, Mr. Tanaka, Chris and Penny walked into the room, to see poor Ella sitting on the couch with the bouquet of flowers in her arms.
"Oh, dear. I'm working too hard I'm seeing and hearing things." She said sadly.
"Mister Chris, Mistress Penny, would it not be wise to let Ella in on our little secret, too?" Mr. Tanaka suggested.
"He's right. Things will be a lot easier if she were on it, too." Grandpa smiled.
"Ok." Chris and Penny smiled. We walked over to Ella, and told her the whole thing.
...
"...So the only nutty thing in my kitchen is the pecan pie. What a relief!" Ella smiled at Cream and Cheese, who were helping her set the table for dinner. "I'm so happy you don't have to hide from me anymore, sweetie." Ella told Cream.
"Yeah. We can be friends and I can help you in the kitchen!" Cream smiled brightly at Ella.
"You're such a dear. I'm sure your mother misses you terribly." Ella cried at the fact that Cream and her mother weren't together at the moment.
"Please don't worry!" Cream smiled softly. "Sonic, Silver, and the rest of my friends will find a way to get us back home, and you can take care of me until then!"
"I will, Cream, I will." Ella said sadly.
"Thank you, Ella." Cream smiled.
Watching outside, Sonic and Penny watched the whole thing.
"Now that Ella knows we're here, we can have the run of this place!" Sonic smiled.
"Sure. Uh..." Penny looked down sadly, and walked off. Sonic looked at the girl with worry, and followed her to the girl's bedroom, and found her sitting down on her bed, looking glum.
"What's wrong? Why are you sad?" Sonic asked, putting his hand on Penny's knee gently.
"Chris and I didn't mean it when we complained about our mom missing the party, but Cream got really angry! I didn't even think how badly she misses her mother!" Penny looked down sadly, small tears going down her cheeks. "I just hope she doesn't stay mad at me." Penny closed her eyes.
Sonic stood there, not knowing how to comfort the girl. He finally looked at Penny and smiled. "Don't worry, it'll be ok."
Hearing humming outside, Penny and Sonic looked up. Cream walked in, holding a crown of flowers in her hand. Chris followed behind her, with a flower crown on his head too. Penny kneeled in front of Cream, representing the flower crown to the girl. "You want to put it on?" She asked.
Cream smiled as Penny kneeled her head down, and she placed the crown of flowers on Penny's head.
Feeling touched, Penny smiled softly to the bunny and whispered, "thank you."
"I told Chris that you two could wear it to school and tell all your friends that I made it for you. Now I'm gonna give Ella her flowers!" Cream smiled happily as she hopped out of the room.
Sonic smiled happily at his young human friend. "Way to go, Penny. Cream will only give her flower crowns to the people she really likes and loves a lot, like you."
Penny looked over at Sonic, still in a kneeling position.
"Really?" Penny smiled. "You think she loves me?"
"You bet." Sonic smiled. He grinned and walked over to her desk. "Which reminds me..." He grabbed something from behind it, and in his hands he held a pretty silvery pink glass jar filled with flowers that were all of Penny's favorite colors.
"Sonic!" Penny gasped, smiling softly. "How did you know..."
"Cream told me!" He smiled. "I hope you like them?"
Penny smiled, putting the flowers to her face and sniffing them gently. "Thank you, Sonic." She smiled.
Later, they watched Cream give Ella her flowers. Then, Ella held Cream and Cheese in her arms, and they laughed.
Penny smiled, holding her flowers and gently caressing the flower crown on her head. This was a great day.
