Chapter 9: A Message From Bemu Lordered

"I…" Remus paused, looked at the clock. "I'd love to."

"Great!" Sirius beamed. "We could walk, or drive if you'd like."

"Walking sounds good to me." Remus grinned, grabbed Sirius' hand, and walked out the door.

"Do you even know where it is?" Sirius asked, walking quickly to keep up with Remus.

"Of course, I've been living here for a long time."

Sirius completely forgot Remus said he lived here ever since he graduated high school. Before he knew it they were at the pizza place. It was more of a family restaurant, but it was also fairly popular with other people their age. Nothing particularly stood out about it, it was just really close to everything. The two got in a line to order, still holding hands. Then, suddenly a man walked over to them.

"Are you dating?" He asked scowling. "Because if you are-"

"Sir, what's it to you if we're dating?" asked Sirius, anger rising inside of him.

"I'd have to-" The man started.

"Well there's no problem," Remus dropped Sirius' hand. "Because this isn't a date."

"Yeah, but I really am wondering why it concerns him if it was," Sirius responded heatedly.

"Sirius, calm down." Remus put his hand on Sirius' shoulder.

"Alright, sorry."

They sat down at a table silent for a moment. They had a feeling the pizza wouldn't be done for a while. They were sat in the corner of the decent-sized pizza place.

"So, what character did you relate to in Midlight?"

"Ace," Remus answered.

"I knew you would say that!" Sirius explained excitedly.

"Whatever." Remus rolled his eyes.

"That was rude, Moony," Sirius said a smirk forming on his face.

"Uh, what?" Remus looked puzzled.

"Because Ace is a moon follower."

"Fine, Padfoot." A grin grew on Remus' face

"Padfoot?"

"Because Liam commonly shape-shifts into a dog." Remus busted out his signature awkward smile and finger guns.

"Alright, you got me there," Sirius admitted, fighting back laughter.

They had a good time. The two slowly forgot about the encounter with the man. It was odd to Sirius how his mind told him to stop after Remus told him to calm down. Remus was surprised how Sirius kept making the conversation about him, Remus wasn't used to anyone but Lily wanting to know more about him. But then, in the middle of dinner…

"Sorry, can I look at this real quick? It's from my boss."

"Of course," Remus replied.

Dear Sirius,

Hello Sirius, I know you're fond of that small city, but you are a traveling photographer. It is suggested you leave in a week or two at most. I'm sorry to have to tell you over email, I'm busy with something else at the moment. Tell you're brother and partner they have my greatest apologies.

Sincerely, Bemu Lorded

"I-"

"Sirius, what wrong? Are you ok?" Remus sounded startled.

"I, It's, uh, it's fine." Sirius stuttered.

"Are you sure?" Remus asked.

"Yeah," Sirius said catching his breath. "What is it you were saying about your old werewolf obsession?"

"No, what is it your boss said?" Remus responded, taking Sirius' hand. Sirius stayed silent. "They're making you move, aren't they?"

"Well, yeah, but I always have the option to say no though I'd need a new job," Sirius explained, looking down at his hand.

"When are you leaving?" Remus held Sirius' hand tighter.

"I'm supposed to leave in a couple of weeks." Answered Sirius sadly.

"Hey, it'll be alright," Remus reassured. "I'm sure we can work something out."

"Right." Sirius looked up into Remus' eyes, they were filled with determination.

"Well," Remus' grip loosened. "It's getting late."

"I can walk you home." Sirius offered.

"Ok," Remus' smile returned.
