A/N: Hey there! So here we have another chapter :D I'm REALLY enjoying writing this one, and I hope you all are enjoying reading it!
So it was LuxahHeart who guessed it last chapter! This fic had been inspired by the move Brother Bear! Well done!
I watched it just over a year ago again, and I couldn't get the Transformation song out of my head. I downloaded it to my Spotify and listened to it non stop, my mind playing along with our two favourite bladers and it just bloomed from there xD
As always, any feedback on what is going well and what isn't is welcome!
Enjoy!

Kai was numb, his body felt heavy and his mind clouded with fog; something was nudging him roughly, but he wasn't able to respond. He could hear sounds through the white noise ringing in his ears, repeating the same thing over and over.

"Kai!"

The fog was beginning to lift, every sense beginning to clear up. His ear twitched at the sound of his name again and he cracked open his still heavy eyelids, his vision blurred as the light flooded in. Kai glanced to where the sounds were coming from, a large, dark figure was looming over him and he frowned. He blinked a few more times to clear his vision, the figure slowly coming into focus. The teen's eyes widened as he stared at the huge, black elk staring at him, his heart beginning to pick up as he dared not to move. The animal nudged him again, huffing in frustration; he lifted his heavily antlered head and gazed down at him, taking a deep breath.

"KAI!" He bellowed.

Said teens heart all but stopped. How was this possible? That was Ray's voice coming from the elks mouth; Kai looked closer, he even had Ray's amber coloured eyes!

Kai cleared his dry throat. "Ray?" He rasped.

The Tiger nearly went weak at the knees at the sound of his friends voice, he'd been trying for ages to rouse the unconscious teen. He lowered his head again and leaned closer to Kai, nudging him with his muzzle.

"Get up." He rumbled.

Kai's head was reeling. "What the fuck is going on?"

Ray's ear twitched in annoyance, he hadn't figured it out yet. "Look at yourself, dumbass."

The Phoenix strained to lift his head and stared down at his body, heart lurching to his throat once again as realisation struck him. Where once had been skin, hands and feet, were now fur and hooves.

He turned back to Ray. "W-what happened?"

"Let's see." The younger teen glared at him. "You chased after that bull elk, right? Then you killed it, and a Bit-Beast came out of that tree stump over there." He pointed with his nose. "Then he turned us into elk."

Kai's ears pinned back, his still crimson eyes staring at his pissed off companion. This was all his fault, he'd gotten them into trouble once again. He heaved himself onto his belly, long, thin legs flailing slightly; he made to stand, struggling to find the best way to do it on four legs. Ray watched him, amusement pricking at him through his anger as Kai attempted to stand. He sighed when he couldn't take it any longer, walking to his friends flank and hooked his muzzle under the others neck, lifting up the wobbly teen.

Kai's legs trembled underneath his body. "Thanks…" He mumbled.

"Takes a short while to get used to it." The raven-coloured teen commented. "Walk around, it'll help you get your strength back."

His friend nodded, taking a hesitant step forward with his front leg; he stopped and looked underneath his body the remaining three, unsure which one to move next.

Ray eyerolled. "Left front, right rear. Right front, left rear."

Kai felt hot under his pelt as he flushed with embarrassment, moving his legs in the pattern Ray had told him. As he walked around the thicket, he could feel each step becoming more confident and better placed, his body falling into the rhythm nicely. He circled around and returned to his dark-furred companion, noting how long and fluffy his mane was. His antlers curled away from the top of his head, jutting out into menacingly sharp ends. Kai shook his head, feeling the weight of his own antlers tilt him to one side, causing him to stumble slightly.

Ray laughed. "Yeaaah, I'm still not used to those yet." He mused.

Though his anger at the older teen still remained, he couldn't help but laugh at him, he absolutely deserved it. He thought back to when he jumped between the spirit elk and Kai, if he hadn't had done that, would he have remained human? Well, too late now; what's done is done, now they just had to find a way to un-do it.

"Come on, let's get out of here. I think we've pissed off enough spirits for today." Ray gestured to the way out.

Kai's ears pinned back again as he watched his friend turn and make to the exit, he stepped forward and followed him, his head hanging a little in shame. He let out a sigh, mentally berating himself for his terrible actions. He passed the marked rocks along the pathway, remembering that Ray had warned him about them, yet he still did what he did. His friend squeezed through the brambles and out into the sunlight, but Kai halted, feeling like he didn't deserve to leave. Ray turned around when he didn't hear the brambles rustle, his heart clenching slightly at sight of his companion. The older teens head was hung low, ears drooping and eyes dull; their eyes met briefly before Kai looked away.

The younger teen approached the other. "Look, we'll talk about it later. Let's just find our way back to the camp, it's nearly sunset."

Kai flinched slightly, that wasn't going to be an easy conversation. He sighed and pushed his way through the brambles, a couple snagging some tufts of his fur. Ray's eyes widened as he saw his friend for the first time in the light, the dark thicket had masked the others appearance, but now that he was out in the open he could make out the slate-coloured fur, fading into dark blue at his legs and muzzle.

"Wow." He breathed.

The older teen frowned at him. "What?"

Ray hadn't realised that they would have kept so many of their human features, he had thought that Kai would've ended up a greyish brown. His own pelt matched his hair, but black animals weren't uncommon.

"Your fur, it's the same colour as your hair." He stared in awe.

Kai turned his head to look at his coat, frown disappearing in an instant at the grey tone staring back at him. He lifted a leg and examined the deep blue hue in it, he definitely hadn't expected that. The Phoenix glanced back at Ray, taking a closer look at his pelt; he noticed in the light his fur glittered a purplish colour, mimicking the young bladers raven locks.

"So is yours." Kai replied.

Ray smiled. "At least we'll be able to tell each other apart from other elk."

The dual-coloured teen wanted to smile back, but his heart was heavy with guilt and shame and he turned his head away slightly. Ray's ears dropped a little, seeing his friend visibly upset worried him. He trotted over to him and touched his muzzle against Kai's flank, gaining his attention.

"Come, we're losing light." He spoke gently.

The Tiger made sure Kai stayed at his side and didn't lag behind as they set off into the forest, he held his head high and tried to drink in the scents around him. Happy that he was still able to use his Neko abilities, he followed their slightly stale scent.

Moonlight glittered off the reflection of the lake, not a single cloud in the sky to darken the night. Ray gazed at the stars, taking in the beauty of the unspoiled view, no cities nearby to pollute it with their lights. He shivered a little, it was a chilly evening and they'd not long returned to their camp. He lowered his antlered head and glanced at his friend, who was sat on his rump next to the lake, staring at his reflection. Kai scowled at the reflection, self-loathing boiling in the pit of his stomach; the longer he stared, the angrier he got. His emotions began to spill over and he stood, reared up and slammed his front legs into the water, breaking the reflection.

Ray cantered over. "Hey! What's wrong?" He called.

"What do you think?!" Kai snapped, his eyes blazing. "This whole thing is bollocks!"

The raven-coloured elk halted, taken aback at his friends tone. "I mean, you're not wrong." He drawled, annoyed.

Kai seethed, his pelt shaking with adrenaline. "That bear should have had me, you wouldn't be in this position otherwise."

Ray's eyes widened briefly before narrowing. "Now stop that!" He bristled. "Wallow in self pity all you like Kai, but if you even think about saying something like that again, you've got another thing coming!"

"It's true!" Kai belted out. "Everything is my fault! We're lost because of me, we've been turned into freaking animals because of me!"

The younger teen growled. "So what?! I've made my fair share of mistakes! We're only human."

The Phoenix shook his head. "Not anymore." Panic was beginning to set into his mind. "You're better off without me!" He fixed to run off.

Ray saw this coming; seeing red he bolted after him and barrelled into the older teens flank, knocking him off his hooves and to the ground. Kai grunted as he hit the dirt roughly, he rolled onto his back to see Ray looming over him, his amber eyes burning. The dark bull placed his legs either side of his companion and glared intensely into wild, crimson eyes.

"Don't you dare!" He bellowed. "Yes, most of this is your fault. Yes I am angry with you, I warned you and you didn't listen to me!"

Kai sneered up at him from the ground. "Exactly my point- "

"ENOUGH!" Ray roared, his chest heaving. "We have survived so far, together. So don't you dare think about leaving me now, not after everything that's happened so far." His voice lowered. "You're all that I have, and I can't do this on my own because…" He trailed off, looking away.

Slate ears pinned back. "…because?"

Amber eyes flicked back to him. "Because you're my best friend… I don't know what I would have done without you." He stared down at the other between his legs.

Kai's throat closed up on him, if he had tear ducts he'd probably be fixing to cry right now. No one had ever referred to him as their best friend; sure he had a close bond with Tyson, but that was due to their friendly rivalry and the connection created between them by their Bit-Beasts.

He lowered his gaze and reached up with his forelegs, pushing gently against Ray's chest. "Can you let me up please?" He mumbled.

"You're not gonna run off?" Ray asked warily.

Kai shook his head, unable to look him in the eyes. The raven-coloured teen stepped back, allowing the elder to stand up. He shook the dirt from his pelt, heart still hammering in his chest from his minor panic attack; he kept his gaze at the floor, mind lost for words. Ray waited patiently, watching his companion battle with his thoughts, his own heart thudding against his ribs.

Only two words came to mind, he looked up into his taller friends eyes, his own dancing with sincerity. "I'm sorry…"

Ray's heart skipped a beat and his ears pinned back. "It's okay…"

He walked forward and pressed his muzzle against Kai's forehead, closing his eyes and drinking in his scent. The dual-coloured elk's skin flushed under his pelt at the touch, closing his own eyes and stepping closer, burying his own nose in the long, black mane. Ray dodged the pointy antlers that nearly gauged his face, smiling as his friend leaned into him.

He laid his head on Kai's shoulders. "Please don't say anything like that again, you were scaring me." He rumbled.

Kai screwed his eyes up tighter, tensing at the others words. "Sorry." He murmured.

Ray rubbed his chin along the soft fur, noting how much more lithe Kai was than he; then he suddenly remembered something, he lifted his head and stepped back.

"How's your arm-… leg?" He questioned, correcting himself.

The older teen cocked his head to one side, before swinging it around to examine where his injury was. Where once a gaping wound had been, a pink scar remained, much to Kai's surprise.

"It's…" He started, turning to face Ray again. "It's healed."

Ray leaned down to inspect, his eyes widening at the sight of the fresh scar; it had been a pretty messy wound, but it must have been healed when they were transformed.

He glanced back to Kai. "I think the Bit-Beast healed you."

"But why?" Kai's ears drooped. "After what I did…" He looked away.

Amber eyes shone with sympathy, feeling the others guilt radiating from him. "Doesn't matter why, what matters is that you're okay."

Kai snorted, he was hardly okay. He was physically healthy is what the other teen had meant, he was mentally drained and tiredness was beginning to wash over him.

He began to walk to their den. "We should get some sleep." He spoke softly.

"Yeah." Ray sighed, following his companion.

The slate-coloured blader entered the den and bent his front legs, kneeling down as his hind legs followed and tucked them beneath himself. He laid his head down into the dirt and stared at the wall in front of him. Ray shivered at the chilly air, deciding to sleep next to his furred friend for warmth. He walked around behind Kai and plonked himself down, their pelts pressing together as he curled up to the others flank. The Tiger gazed at him, hoping that the older teen wouldn't have too much of a troubled night; after a few moments, sleep began to cloud his mind and he bent his neck around, resting his head along Kai's back. The brooding bull froze, his ears swinging back to listen to his teammate. He dared not to move, laying like that for a short while until Ray's breathing began to slow. Kai gently raised his head, turning to look at the black-furred teen asleep on his back; his heart thudded and caught in his throat, even after all that had happened Ray still cared about him. His ears pinned to the sides of his head as he stared, warmth washing over him at the small gesture of comfort from his friend. The moonlight danced into the den from the reflection on the lake, lighting up their coats. Kai's breath hitched in his throat as he gazed at Ray's dark pelt, strands of his mane glowing from the light. Massive dark antlers adorned his head, causing the sleeping teens head to tilt slightly; muscles rippled as he shifted slightly and let out a light snore, nuzzling into Kai's fur a little bit. The elder males heart skipped a few beats, an unfamiliar feeling fizzing in the pit of his stomach.

"What are you doing to me?" He thought to himself as he watched his friend sleep.

He had a sudden urge to press his muzzle into the others cheek, to familiarise himself with his musky scent. Kai sighed sadly, he still felt awful for putting them in this situation; if only he had listened to Ray, they wouldn't be stuck as they were. A sudden thought struck him, would they ever be found in the forms they were in? He glanced at his slate-coloured flank, surely his friends would be able to recognise them.

Ray's ear twitched, sleep lifting from him slightly. "Sleeeeep." He murmured, opening one eye to look at the restless one.

Kai's pelt bristled a little, embarrassment flooding him as he realised he'd been staring again. He lowered his head, tucked it neatly next to his belly and closed his eyes, feeling Ray shift to a more comfortable position. The younger bull moved his head to drape it over Kai's shoulders, helping support the weight of his antlers; he stayed awake long enough to hear his teammates breathing even out as he drifted off, before letting his own mind fade into the darkness.
